Chad demon lord reincarnates himself 2000 years into the future hoping for a peaceful world, but finds out nobody believes he's the demon lord and information about him has been falsified and some weird trickery is going on. He doesn't exceed others in just power, but in knowledge and understanding of magics and history as well.
It's surprisingly decent even though the story is basically from a generic cheat power isekai, a good MC makes all the difference I guess. It also doesn't have videogame shit like skills or stats in it.

Continuing the 7seeds discussion, (based of what I read of basara) I think the problem that there might be an interesting story and good details beneath, but an important driving force for the story seems to be retarded interpersonal relationships that I guess caters to women, I can't see past that and I am guessing that neither can you.
And I say this as someone who isn't inherently against shoujo, as I said in the last thread I find houkago https://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=49966 a nice manga, and it doesn't look like some peak shoujo shit. The rundown is that our protagonist, a male teacher in an all girls high school has his life threatened and he doesn't know the reason, once had a plant pot thrown at him from above, and another time was almost pushed to the trains tracks and the director doesn't want to involve the police as it'd tarnish the school's name and asks him to hold on as it is probably just a prank, but to go ahead if he's targeted again, as he next one could be the one to get him he starts investigating to find out the culprit before they get him.
If i recall, it's only about 200 pages.

Sure they can be, and I've enjoyed some josei and shoujo, like houkago, tomie and k no souretsu. I even thought basara had an interesting premise but (volume 1 spoilers) the protagonist's(female) brother and father are killed by the red king, fearing that his brother, rumored to be the destiny child to free people under the kingdom, would fuck his shit. The red king decides to get rid of the whole village as well, stuff happens and protagonist goes to hot springs and there's a boy meets girl encounter with a pushy rich boy, she rejects him but she's actually got some interest in him, soon after it's revealed that the boy is the red king, both were unaware that the counterpart was aiming to kill each other no matter how interest I may or may not have been up until that point, I just had to drop it when the author pulled that shit.

It's a stupid but more than a bit self-aware romp which is solidly in the so bad it's good territory. The author initially tried the "anyone can die" shtick but decided to abandon it and go full Higanjima. Of course if you are looking for 2deep4u stuff this shit is garbage, but it's fun garbage for when you're feeling like witnessing a trainwreck and having fun while you're at it.

Ok, so I finished yuureitou. My disgust decreased a little as I kept reading, and despite all there were a few things I liked, like marube's take on why tetsuo chose to ally with amano, when yamashina shoved aside satoko, and when amano killed the shibanmunshi, I particularly like that the author didn't go witht he usual self-defense or accidentally-killed-him route.
Throughout the series my thoughts on amano were that he was meh, the negative meh when the author went with his /g/ tier crossdressing but I consider he redeemed himself with the end (ignoring what happened in the very last chapter). while I thought tetsuo was an interesting I liked him less personality wise as the manga progressed. The character I liked best was yamashina, he was sharp, aided the protagonists as the story progressed, was reliable when it counted and I find his shit wasn't forced down as hard as tetsuo's.
Special mention for harada, even though the second time he appeared was for something basically out of a shounen manga.

I like it but it seems the manga team is pretty grubby as I was caught up I had to wait a probably lucky three hours to read the newest chapter due to a push to read it on their website and they have donation begging at the beginning and ending of every chapter with an advertisement that Nip to Eng translators will get a bonus for good work. Clearly the scanlators see the green.

It has people spontaneously combust, there's nowhere to go with the story, there's no solution just endless procrastination. All you are left with are the individual cases and they're boring, there's no tension or twists or character to them. Usually with episodic stuff the actual characters should be memorable. But I can just watch Bleach's first 5 episodes since those are actually memorable episodic monster of the weeks. FF just has no story to work with. There's no mystery. There's no having to hide your identity from your family and friends. The world just exist and they go to school.

I'd say you will either like it very much because you get attached to the two main characters or hate its guts for being too mediocre for your tastes, there's just no middle road because the plot does scatter all over the place by the mid point and due to how Mitsurou Kubo kept adding useless side characters that you won't care about, but it picks up the pace again as you go into the last arc and doesn't let up right until the end. You could tell that it was losing popularity and eventually got axed, even though it still got a live action adaptation that's pretty much an abridged version and has an almost identical ending to the manga despite being a bit cringe. The actors for the two main characters also pretty much look identical to their manga counterparts.

I'm looking for some good fantasy mangas with a darker tone, not necessarily super grim, just a bit more serious and slower paced. Bonus points if it has a decent amount of chapters.
Something similar to Saihate no Paladin and Nozumanu Fushi no Boukensha is what I'm after.
Additionally, one of my guilty pleasures is reading isekai's. I really enjoy those with a slower burn where the MC's main hurdle to overcome is surviving in a treacherous foreign place he knows nothing about. As opposed to those where the real struggle comes from maintaining his harem and trying to think of ways to spend all the money the king constantly gives him for repeatedly saving the country.
It's hard to find spot on examples of what I'm looking for in that regard, but Kumo Desu ga, Nani ka?, Isekai Meikyuu de Harem wo are both something akin to that and while a bit further away from what I described, Maou no Ore ga Dorei Elf wo Yome ni Shitanda ga, Dou Medereba Ii? and Yondome wa Iyana Shi Zokusei Majutsushi are both mangas I like a lot as well.

I'm hesistant to suggest Black Clover. It's got a fleshed out world, darker elements, magic everywhere since the story is about mages, & characters who aren't immune to losing or being seriously injured. The complication comes with Asta. He's comes off as OP but is understandably strong because he trains constantly. In the field or in his free time. All to make up for the fact he can't use magic. It's luck or fate that he just happens to get a grimoire giving him weapons that cancel out magic. He still struggles with fights a lot though & has to rely on others. Been pretty decent so far actually but this anticlimactic revenge cucking drives me up the fucking wall.
Also I'm not really a big fan of 'tragedy' tags but goddamn, I think after 100 chapters only 2 people have actually died despite the manhwa trying to portray this place as super gruesome etc. It seems like it's only okay to kill people off-screen like the very first test where 100 people were culled like nothing.
I have a feeling that it'll introduce another minor side character of no importance in ~50 or so chapters and kill it off after the next 10 in a lazy attempt of showing that there are actually stakes and people may die. Meanwhile every other fight will just result with both the protagonists and antagonists knocking each other unconscious.

I remember liking it while watching, no clue how I ever stopped. I guess it's either worse than I remember or it gets terrible, because 6.5 is horrible score for MAL users.
As for the recommendations, i've watched/read them.
Hakumei to Mikochi I found to be a little boring and I dropped it (haven't read it however). Yokohama is nice, so is Mushishi. I dropped Girls' Last Tour for incredibly autistic reasons, I can't be bothered going into it.
Since you mentioned Mushishi, I thought I would say that I have also watched/read Natsume Yuujinchou, Mononoke.

Haven't kept up with it recently due to hiatus/translation draught burnout, but as far as I recall there really isn't any real NTR in there, unless you count MC becoming even more of a spirit manko slayer.
A major change is that after a certain event, the school setting gets dropped in favor of a more battle harem-esque oriented arc.
