So, I just finished off the series Viper's Creed. It's a mecha series focused on a group of mercenaries who are tasked with protecting the floating city, Fort Diversity, from left-over automaton weapons that are still active after WWIII has come to a close. Where they combat these mindless drones is across the highways that connect the city together because the water is too polluted for any vessels to traverse. However, this is just the setup for the series, as the anime has two "main stories" across its 12 episodes. The first half is about each of the individual members of the team and their backstories with each episode giving a specific character attention. The second half of the series is where things takes a twist as a radical group of nationalists plot a coup with the city's police make the mercenaries the "Bad guys", take control of the city, and drive out all foreign presence. Despite how potentially complex that may sound, the series is actually quite simple in it's storytelling and is focused more on entertaining the audience. That's not saying that the series "wastes" it's potential. Everything moves along pretty straight forward with some predictable moves and a easily established mindset as to who the characters are, and the story it wants to tell.
Overall, I'd recommend watching the series.

Yeah, it's fun when you go into shit completely blind of what to expect. Either you find the greatest thing in Earth, or a reason to exterminate the human race for being so retarded.

Kanamemo was the type of light hearted, comfy, yuri SoL I needed. The cast mixed well together and were pretty fun. It made me smile all the way through. I recommend it for anyone who enjoys that type of content.

Perrine does have one of the best designs but she's mostly a cunt until S2 where they make her more likable. I didn't expect to like Strike Witches as much as I did too. I expected shit and came out enjoying myself despite having the same complaints. Luccini and Miyafuji are my favorite characters.

Perrine didn't really come off as a cunt to me; more like someone who is terribly frustrated.
And yes, her design is what got my attention instantly.
Luccini was also pretty good.
I have to ask what you see in Miyafuji though. I'm genuinely curious.

Besides her design. I like her motivated attitude and watching her get better as a fighter. But its been so long that I can't remember most of the details. Maybe if I watched it again, I would have a different opinion of her.
Also is Brave Witches worth watching?

Finished off Bomberman Jetters, and it is a very enjoyable series. Long story short, the plot is about the Jetters (A protection squad) protecting the unique items around the universe and stopping the Higehige-dan from stealing them. Overall, the series is divided up in about 6 different "parts" across two "main" arcs. The first part of both arcs is just a "villain of the week" episodes with the little spats that happen between the Jetters and the Higehige-dan, the second part is filler/joke episodes while also building up a "plot" that they were hinting at in the first parts, and, then, the actual finale itself which closes most of the threads establish.
Overall, as far as how good the story is, the show is mostly a comedy, but it really starts to sucker punch the viewer when it gets to the more dramatic parts of the story. First of all, the show mostly has the "adults" of the group telling the kids to mature, and refusing to treat them like mature individuals unless it's absolutely necessary; and then have the "kids" of the show who are trying to be mature, but then they're left out of the loop half of the time. Then the show also deals with the former leader of the Jetters completely disappearing, which you think would get old after a while, but they drag it on in such a way that it shows the characters actually going through the motions of learning to deal with it without it becoming tiresome. Also, if it means anything, early on, I started making the comparison that this show does have some similarities to Steven Universe, except this show actually DOES what SU claims to do (Except for the whole genderbender rape thing), and BJ is actually well made.
As far as the animation and look of the show, all of it gives this rounded, childish feel to it with a lot of extended or repeated frames. However, when they actually have to do the animation, none of it feels cheap or choppy. And, it does look like they actually put some effort in the designs and the art of the show. As for the audio, you'll be hearing the same 6 six tracks every couple episodes which pretty much queue up the same emotion every single time they are played. And, as for the voice acting, only White Bomber's gets old after a while, but that's when the start toning down the childish nature of the character.
Overall, I would very much recommend the series. I would have to say that it's one of the better animes out there.

Well, finished off Gunbuster and it was a terrible series to watch. Not in the way that Nadesico gave a middle finger to the viewers, but in that the entire show was underwhelming.
To get the positive points out of the way, the series is excellent to watch. All the animation is extremely fluid, detailed, and colorful, and really gives everything on the screen this, sort of, "life" that you just sit back in awe watching. As for the audio, all the music gives this grand and emotional feel to the series with the intent of being dramatic in every way possible. And, all of the sound effects sound like they're suppose to. And, not be cheesy about it. Don't know what else to say on that.
As for the story, oh GOD, it's terrible. The premise is that humanity is currently in a war with space dragons, and the protagonist of the series is one of the two girls assigned to fight in the "ultimate weapon", the Gunbuster. Now, with a premise like that, you'd think you'd see a lot of action but, oh boy, you're sadly mistaken. The first episode is about the girls just before getting deployed from her high school (Which is okay itself), but the rest of the series just drags on and on and on and on with the actual "war". Nearly ALL the action that you want to see happens offscreen, or is told about via dialogue. There is only about 15 minutes, out of all 6 episodes, which is actually fight footage, and most of that is the 5th episode because that is the only gives us everything we wanted see and expect. And, as for the actual plot, all of it hinges of the girls being faced with "the realities of war" meanwhile humanity is fighting a losing battle all the way. The only thing I can really say that the story does well is dealing with the results of time displacement in space, but that is it. Very little about this show is actually entertaining. If you want to watch a show with mechs (But care fuck all about the plot), watch Macross or Gundam Gurren Lagann or literally anything else. If you want to watch a something about characters traveling through space while dealing with time displacement watch Interstellar. I don't know why, but the more I try to explain this, the more upsetting it gets.

I have to disagree. I wanted to like the series, but it feels like it drags on a little too much in the second and third episode compared to the first "two episodes". Also, there was some amount of comfyness about the first two stories that seemed to be lacking in the later two.
To explain for those that don't know, DHR was originally going to be a hentai series, with the first episode reflecting that. Well, the first episode sold so well that the studio rewrote and edited the first episode to replace the hentai content (Retitling the episode "Rem Appears"), tacked on a "second part" (Entitled "Violent Dream! Dr. Death Resurrected"), and released it all as a package deal under the name Dream Hunter Rem Special Version: Sanmu! Yomigaeru Shinigami Hakase. From trying to find a download, it looks like ALL of the collected releases have the re-edited version of the first episode (Probably because the original hentai OVA was never released outside of VHS), so the original, unedited episode that has to be found separately.

Finished off two series this week.
The first one is Angel Cop. The premise of the series is that Japan has become the leader in the world economy, which has upset some very powerful people who seek to turn country into another puppet government or make it a desolate wasteland. To prevent this, the Japanese government has created an anti-terrorist organization call the the S.S.F. who are above all other organizations with the additional bonus of a license to kill. However, the S.S.F. are now on the run as it looks like someone else is pulling the strings. To explain the actual structure of the plot, it's a predictable conspiracy story that you can see coming from a few blocks away if you've paid moderate attention to world politics over the past 30-50 years (If you haven't, let's just say that things started back in 330 B.C., arguable 2340 B.C., and you can piece everything together from there). However, with that being said, it does feel like the series is rushing itself quite a bit, and feels like something was lost along the way. For example, the "main" protagonist of the series, the cold-blooded bitch Angel, goes from leaving her wounded partner behind in the first episode to actually caring about her comrades when they're dying left and right towards the end of the series (When the actual story itself just unfolds over the course of a couple days). Then, there's also the fact that once the series actually "ends", it feels like nothing was resolved and the actual end message is "Nothing was changed, Japan was lost,"; which leaves me confused in several different ways because I'm trying to understand if the writers were trying to make a political statement about Japan's place in the modern world or if they just ran out of time and figured "Hey, it's an ending" (Or maybe both, or perhaps the manga picks things up and resolves the plot). Anyway, the other thing that frustrates me about this type ending is that I've seen it done better in other places such as Blue Drop and Armitage III; where the former series ended with actually showing what the distant outcome of the anime's events was (However, I will forever say it is one of the worst endings I have ever seen, and still leaves me fuming to this day); and the latter ended with both of the main characters not being able to stop anything, but still riding off into the sunset once everything is over. In fact, Angel Cop reminds me of several different series, but I'll get to that in a moment.
The animation for the series is another aspect that I found to be a mixed bag because it flip flops between scenes being animated with as few frames as possible and some damn beautiful animation that shows exactly why digital can compete but never be able to match actual hand drawn animation. It can be argued that it's so that the studio doesn't go over the budget, but it's jarring as Hell to go from beautiful fight scenes to almost snapshot dialogue scenes. However, I didn't care for the overly-detailed art style they went with because it does some of the characters look very alien in appearance. Then there's the music, which is rather nice to listen to, that goes between someone laying on the piano keys to a sort-of soft rock.
Now, to get the main issue that I was having out of the way, it feels like everything that Angel Cop has to offer, I have seen elsewhere in other series (And done better). MD Geist, Ghost in the Shell, Armitage III, Mach Rider, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance; in fact, jumping off of that, Angel actually does remind me Major an awful lot when it comes to her designs, and then there's where another main character (Raiden) literally becomes a cyborg with a motorcycle. I wouldn't be that surprised if Angel Cop did have an influence on the development of some Japanese media (Like Future Boy Conan on Miyazaki's works, Go Nagai when it comes to the mahou shoujo and mecha genres and "the devil in me" stories, Tezuka when it came to kemono and moe), but, looking into it further, it looks like the reverse may have happened. MD Geist, Ghost in the Shell, and Mach Rider all came out before Angel Cop; which makes me wonder if it's ripping off of those instead of the other way around.

Also, to address the fact that many releases of this series is censored (Because, of course, any Japanese media that doesn't 100% agree with Western ideals is censored):
1. When will people get over the fact that when there's a negative reference to a group, and that reference is not in any favorable light, and that reference seems to reinforce a negative stereotype that people keep trying to say isn't true only to be proven wrong more often than not, perhaps there's something wrong with that that group (Itself) that should be addressed. And, that should be the main issue to the people in that group that they should attempt to be solving rather than trying to play it off as "unbiased prejudice" and continue it act like the scum that people go after them for being.
2. Just because a form of media rightfully calls out people for doing wrong and putting them in their place, that does not mean that the media, itself, is good. Loki's speech to the other Gods only worked because he was drunk and angry about how he's always punished while the other Gods can get off with much worse. Mercutio's rant only worked because the guy realize that he devoted his life and died because of a family feud that started over God knows what. Having a character pulling the same thing when they're in a sober state of mind and trying to make a statement without any sense of irony is NOT good writing. It's preaching, pure and simple.
Anyways, Angel Cop is a good series, but I have a hard time recommending it. Like I said, it feels like much of the series' material was done better in the other media that I mentioned earlier, and the actual quality of the show itself is much of a mixed bagged. If you're looking for a good conspiracy story, you can certainly do much worse, but Angel Cop will leave a feeling of wanting something more.
The second series that I want to talk about is Patlabor. The premise of the series is that the world is rapidly advancing in growth and expansion, which has given rise to the use of mechs to help with construction (Referred to as “Labors”). However, with this, this has also resulted in crimes starting to be used in conjunction with the robots. This has prompted the police to create a “Special Vehicles” unit to start specifically combating these crimes, with the series focusing on the members of the newly creates second division of the unit. To get something out of the way, this is not you're standard mecha series with action taking place every episode as the show comes off like it's trying to play off more as a police series. But, even then, I feel hesitant to describe the series like that. The first two episodes are do feel like actual police work, then you have two episodes of what amounts to filler, and, then, the last three episodes start touching upon dealing with mechs designed for military use. And, my main problem with this is that it I wanted to see more of the actual police work. I did like seeing how they initially slowed down and stepped away from trying to be “just another mech series”, but then it doesn't really feel like anything was actually done with it. However, with that being said, I wonder if my expectations where influenced about how the first couple episodes of Patlabor reminded me of my experience with Rail Wars!. Where I thought that was going to be a comfy train conductor series, only for the veil to be thrown off and reveal the series being about public safety enforcement.
The animation for the series has a more cartoon feel, especially I comparison to Angel Cop, and is actually a very smooth series to watch. There really isn't point in the series that I can point to where studio actually did cut corners in order to meet the budget. And, that's on top of how I really like the colorful pallet that the series used. Overall, I did enjoy, and would recommend, Patlabor, but I have a hard time saying that I actually liked it. It's possible the rebooted TV series, or films serving as a follow-up to the OVA, scratch that itch, but it the original series feels like it falls short of what it was trying to do.

>all that shit about Angel Cop
>not mentioning the full-on kike red pilling even once
I'm almost impressed
>the animation is inconsistent and the writing is rushed
The show had a massive break in between episodes 3 and 4, possibly due to budget concerns and lack of sales also that by show's halfway point, Japan's bubble economy burst, making the episode 1's opening about JAPAN HAVING THE LARGEST GDP IN THE WORLD look a bit embarrassing to say the least. It's possible a ton of rewrites occurred until it decided just to call out (((them))) and be done with it.
>I didn't care for the overly-detailed art style they went with because it does some of the characters look very alien in appearance.
I'm the opposite. By the time episode 6 came, I was aghast at how ugly, undetailed, and overly angular everyone looked. Raiden barely resembles his first appearances in the initial episodes, and Lucifer is just down right ugly. It looks like a completely different show.
>I have seen elsewhere in other series (And done better). MD Geist
Nigger no. MD Geist is trash. It's so bad it's awesome trash, but it's still barely coherent trash.
>Also, to address the fact that many releases of this series is censored
Don't tell me you watched the censored subs, because that's even more nonsensical than the original.
>Patlabor
>The first two episodes are do feel like actual police work, then you have two episodes of what amounts to filler, and, then, the last three episodes start touching upon dealing with mechs designed for military use. You clearly missed the point of the series; Patlabor's virtue is its versatility, that it can be a police procedural, a comedy, and a political show all at once.
>It's possible the rebooted TV series, or films serving as a follow-up to the OVA, scratch that itch, but it the original series feels like it falls short of what it was trying to do.
The first movie is basically the conclusion to the OVA, so watch that next. The 2nd movie is more like an epilogue to everything that's been built up in the OVA and first film. Also, it helps to know that Patlabor 2 is way more political, and way more ponderous and dramatic. All comedy is striped out in favor of ruminating on politics, terrorism, and the effects of martial law as well as Goto and Nagumo's relationship. It's my personal favorite anime film, but a lot of people hate it because it's when Mamuro Oshii basically began his descent into pretentious monologue film making that he's known for.
>rebooted TV series
It's not a reboot, it's just a separate continuity. If you like the first flick but hate the second one, watch the series, and its follow up, Patlabor: New Files.
The third Patlabor movie from 2002 is completely unrelated and barely related to the series.

Japan currently has the 3rd/4th high GDP i the world behind the U.S. and China (And India). So, it's still not that much of a stretch.
>Don't tell me you watched the censored subs, because that's even more nonsensical than the original.
No, I watched the uncensored version. But, the point I was trying to make is that there WAS NO reason for the censorship in the first place. On the one end, all that the censorship did was just show how afraid Westerners are of any criticism that comes towards a protected class, that only does nothing but boost the political message of the series. Then, you have the other side where that political statement didn't need to exist in the first place, as it adds nothing to the actual story itself aside from making a statement (On top of how it's hypocritical for the Japanese to be a little "high and mighty" about preserving their nation when they've been meddling in the affairs of Korea for centuries).
>You clearly missed the point of the series; Patlabor's virtue is its versatility, that it can be a police procedural, a comedy, and a political show all at once.

That asspull was bad. It's implied the little girl travelled back in time to save herself, but no context as to how to. The author probably thought that since the main point is that "people can choose to make changes necessary to be who they want", that it was enough in itself.

I just binge read Prison School. I thought it was an amazing first half making Gakuto and the Chariman god tier characters (with everyone likeable and important). Then a good second half with the girls in prison. Then a completely shitty arc with the tower people contest and the sidestory of the chairman with amnesia being attacked by a bear. I can't believe how many pointless chapters were wasted on that. Then I got to the end and I see why so many people were making threads on why they were disappointed. Its really shitty for the main goal of the protagonist to not reach his goal at the very end. I can see why people got into it but I am glad I never invested my time into reading this series as it came out chapter by chapter.

I just finished watching Kawaikereba Hentai de mo Suki ni Naremasu ka. It was a fairly average high school romantic comedy, so shit in general, but it had enough humor to see it through to the end. Boy, do I wish I hadn't. It had the most pants on head retarded plot twists imaginable at the end. One of the only good things about the show was Sayuki (pic related). Physically, she's pretty much perfect to me, and her personality is close, too. The MC was fucking retarded not to go for her, but I suppose that just goes with the show's message that if you're holding out for a 100% pure, vanilla relationship with a girl who only likes missionary with the lights off, you're going to be single for the rest of your life.

Coincidentally I just finished watching prison school. Ecchi comedy about 5 boys being imprisoned for peeping on girls, now targeted for expulsion by the student council of an otherwise all-girl school spearheaded by some bitch who's butthurt that her dad faps to latina ass. I enjoyed it for what it was. I like how much of the show focussed on the relationship between just 2 characters (Kiyoshi and Gakuto). No character felt redundant or lacked chemistry except for Andre, he was boring. Got hard when Kiyoshi and that blonde girl were hiding under the bed and he got a boner. Reminded me of Gokudolls but just a pinch less good. Watch it if you like B-grade shows which come just shy of overstaying their gimmick's welcome but thankfully fall short of crossing that thin line. JCstaff is good at that.
Before that I watched Cromartie High School and it was honest to God one of the most entertaining things I have ever seen, bar no kind of media. Comedy about a calm, strong willed pacifist who attends a delinquent high school where random xd humour ensues, but done right. Most pre-mid 2000s anime has a really dated sense of humour and alien atmosphere that doesn't translate well to zoombers such as myself, but I seriously couldn't stop laughing throughout almost every episode and I was sober too. It's part of the same genus as things like gag manga biyori, the humour comes from how the characters argue with one another in a sensible way about absolutely unsensible things, I can't put it into proper words just how well tuned and harmonic everything was. Episodes were the right length (10 minutes or so) for the show's peculiar style of comedy to work, characters didn't feel dumbed down or unmotivated despite their wackiness, gags were well thought out and built upon previous shenanigans. Great soundtrack. 10/10 would recommend to anyone.

>Chi-Chan is most definitely British
Clearly the story is a futuristic allegory for the chaotic collapse of the Roman Empire, specifically the events of the migration period in a British context. Chi chan is an indigenous Romano-Welsh denizen (as denoted by her swarthy phenotype) who survived the anglo-saxon onslaught, and begrudgingly follows Yuu chan, a Saxon invader (obvious by her Nordic appearance), as her slave. Throughout the course of the show you can see the tension between Chi chan and Yuu chan over the slaughter and subjugation of Chi chan's people by Yuu chan's migrant tribe. Gradually, pressured by the hardships of survival in a bloody and cutthroat world, the bonds between master and slave become the bonds between kin, as Chi chan and Yuu chan end up interbreeding to create the modern English race.

I finished Death Note last week, the series really takes a dip after the 6-year timeskip. I prefered the movie ending (the japanese one, not DethFlix) to the Mello and Near B-tier autists . The second japanese movie makes no sense with the ages of the main characters and the timeline they give, but Arma is fucking hawt.

I enjoyed Death Note's OST. It complements the anime well.

>Some fans maintain that it is not a "true" Lupin title, due to Miyazaki's altering of the titular character into a bumbling hero, rather than his original ruthless criminal self.[41] Monkey Punch, creator of Lupin III, called Castle of Cagliostro an "excellent" movie, but agreed Miyazaki's vision of Lupin differs from his own. He said, "I wouldn't have had him rescue the girl, I would have had him rape her!"[19]

So, I just finished of the series Tekkaman and I didn't even know it.
The premise of the series is that WW3, and China, screwed up the Earth to the point that they only have 3 years left until the Earth is completely uninhabitable. And, the “top scientists” on the planet decide that the only solution is to search for a “Second Earth” somewhere out there in space. Except, humanity doesn't have the technology to actually go space-trekking outside of the solar system, so they have to develop the tech to actually go out and find that second Earth. And, for some reason, an alien alliance, called the Wildaster, want to invade Earth without waiting for the three years to pass and for humanity to die out. However, to stop this invasion, the U.N. space program create a secret patrol unit called the “Space Knights” with the leader, Joji, able to turn into the “invincible Tekkaman”. The rest of the series unfolds with each episode focusing on a each of the different approaches that the Wildaster take to invade and conquer Earth, with Rambos (The general of the forces, but not the leader of the aliens) focusing more and more of his sights on just being able to defeat Tekkaman. The plot of the series progresses where some of dramatics and events do feel rather silly, but none of it comes off as childish. In fact, it's almost unintentionally surreal with how (One example) an episode can start off with talking about how Earth children are making friends with robotic-talking space bugs only for things to escalate to where the cities on Earth are being terrorized by said bugs by literally frying every single person on screen. Then, there's also the fact that Joji's actual transformation into the Tekkaman seems like a rather painful process when you see it in full, and things just go on from there. Outside of it's silly moments, the series does have some idea of what it's trying to do, with Joji wanting to get revenge for the death of his dad, Andro (One of the Space Knghts and an alien fighting against the Wildaster) longing for the return to him home planet, the various groups on Earth increasingly panicking over how everything is going to die and the possibility of searching for a new home. And, it really does start building up on this towards the end of the series, however, according to ANN, the series wasn't doing too well in Japan, which resulted in it getting canceled half-way through with only 26 episodes being made: http://archive.ph/Q9Rhj#selection-1195.0-1195.103
And, the last episode being left on such a simple cliffhanger that it's really surprising that an OVA or film was released to rap things up, with the only later acknowledgments of Tekkaman being the spin-off Tekkaman Blade that was made 17 years later and the video games Tatsunoko Fight and Tatsunoko VS Capcom.
As for the animation of the series, it's “primitive” in design with a lot of stills and recycled animation, however none of it is actually bad. The art style leans on a more “stylized realism” manner with the world being the scientific future according to the 60's/70's (Before computers really took off, anyone remember punch cards and ticker tapes?). And, as for as the audio, it switches between the same six different tracks that are all used for the same situations. And, the full orchestra music (Even to the end of the series) still results in me expecting to see an episode of Scooby Doo coming on instead of a semi-serious space hero show. However, there's seems to be something about it all coming together that just adds to the charm.
Overall, Tekkaman is a good series (For it's time, and I hate to use that phrase because a product can be good regardless of when it was made). It's a simple “superhero” series with good guys and bad guys and they don't do anything to be subversive or innovative, they did it just because they think it melds with the story. However, I feel like this is a hard series to recommend because of the fact that it's so...”primitive” (For lack of a better word). Outside of wanting to see where things started (If you're a “media history buff”), there's little reason to go back and watch this series if you're looking for something of actual quality. Even the original Mobile Suit Gundam and Future Boy Conan (Both series made a couple years later) are “better” series in terms of quality. However, if you want something just goes “back to the basics”, there's really nowhere else to look than at series like Tekkaman. And, given the fact that I'm tired of how everything in recent years is trying to reinvent the wheel or show how "self-aware" they are, I guess I really like the fact that there's always stuff out there (That I haven't seen) that isn't.

RIP Monkey Punch, you'll be missed.
We lost our heroic-but-dangerous protagonists. Some threaded the fine line between brute and meek, like James Bond and Lupin, but they never crossed over. They were dangerous men, that you as the reader felt relieved they just happen to be in the "right" side of the story, but that they might very well have been villains had their motives been a little different. Conan is another great example of this archetype (seriously, if you haven't read the novels I urge you anons to do so, you can skip every other media Conan features in, but the novels are golden). He's less of a hero and more a force of nature. When Conan showed up in a village dominated by an evil wizard and decided to wear the wizard's colon as a shoe, the villagers were relieved he didn't look weird their way, glad his attention pointed somewhere else. And after he was done, he would claim a woman for himself, grab whatever gold he could fit in his loincloth and be gone.
Video embedded has a great take in this. On how heroes (knights) need both the meekness of civilization in them, but absolutely can't give up their aggressiveness for it.

Finished off the Wolverine anime, and it's an okay series.
The plot is that Logan's girlfriend is kidnapped and, after a year of searching, he finally finds out that she's in Japan and is being married off to owner of Madripoor Island (The center for all crime in Asia) so that her yakuza father can expand his empire. And, the rest of the series unfolds with expanding this simple plot over 12 episodes and dealing with all the different enemies and “allies” that Logan meets along the way that have their own interests in the game being played. In some way, it feels like the series delivers with everything you'd expect from a plot like that, but it's also a little bit underwhelming. For example, the beginning of the starts out with Logan being framed for killing one of his cop friends, but that point mostly solves itself once he gets out of Tokyo. Then there's the “bigger” issue where Madripoor is in a power struggle, with none of the fractions really being worthy of controlling the island, that mostly solves itself as well. In fact summing it up like that, the reason the plot doesn't feel fully delivered is that Logan doesn't actually feel that important to the story going on. All the characters use Logan to further their own interests, but everything still results in the events taking place had he not been involved at all. And, it probably doesn't help that his girlfriend doesn't actually feel at all resistant about the forced marriage until the last episode, with her being submissive the entire way. So, when you boil it down, the isn't even that interesting to talk about, which is quote a bit of a letdown due to how much I praised and enjoyed the Iron Man anime.
As for the animation of the series it is nicely made. The art style is rather attractive to watch, but some of the earlier in the fights in the series look a little silly with how little “activity” they depict. And, part of the silliness has to do with much of the music being guitar and drums filling most of the episodes and depicting a highly active fight.
Overall, I did enjoy the Wolverine anime, but I would not really recommend it. If you want something that is nothing BUT literal action, you may find it more enjoyable than I, but I didn't really care for how it starts out as filler and then tries to wrap everything up as quickly as it can towards the end.

Do you like old men, anon?
Recently finished Ristorante Paradiso. It was quite enjoyable, despite being a josei show it didn't have any BL, the show had a more 'mature' tone so there weren't any pure sexual moments which BL/fujoshi shows tend to have (like guys being fags or women living out their rape fantasies). Since the men were 'older' it catered to what I assume was a more mature subcategory of the fujoshi demography. Either way my point is that the show is quite good even if you're not a fujoshi.
The plot of the show is that the MC travels to Rome in search of her mother, who abandoned her, when she finds her they kinda make peace and she starts an apprenticeship at the restaurant her mother's husband owns. The mangaka for this is the same woman who wrote ACCA 13 and the shows structure is quite similar (as is the dialogue), each episode covers one of the camerieri's backstory.
The animation was good for what the show was, I especially enjoyed the soft colors that were being used. Only weird thing was the CG backgrounds that looked like they belonged in a PS2 game. I'd recommend this to anyone who would enjoy a more mature version of the SoL genre as it covers the daily lives of the cast but not in the typical 'daily hijinks' way that SoL normally does.

<a biscuit confectionery item composed of a crunchy and rich rectangular shortbread biscuit base topped with a chewy and soft caramel filling and a shiny milk chocolate topping.
<The shortbread gets its texture from butter, while condensed milk gives a creamy caramel filling, and good quality chocolate is the base for a soft, rich topping. Additional ingredients and occasional add-ins may be incorporated, such as ground almonds or semolina flour. It is prepared in stages, with the cookie-like shortbread base baked first, followed by the caramel and chocolate

Finished Koudelka (the manga) recently. Rather than an adaptation of the PS1 game, it instead serves as a follow up, set about a year later. Kind of interesting to see the direction that could have been taken, even if the PS2 sequels render it not canon (though chronology in the series is sort of odd anyhow; I didn't see anything that would have kept it from following the good ending), and it's pretty easy to see that Joshua's character design got repurposed for Halley in the first PS2 Shadow Hearts, though their personalities are pretty different. Still quite dark in content despite the difference in visual style and working with just black and whites, as opposed to the game's array of grungy colors, but it's understandably not the same setting as the game for most of it. Koudelka herself also has an interest deviation from her personality in the game (where she and the other two party members bicker so much one has to wonder if they won't just kill each other before the night's over), being shockingly kind. Then again, the people she's mostly interacting with, children and prostitutes, might simply be reaching a soft spot her "allies" in the game simply don't, since she's been both before at the same time. Becomes quite amusing later when she encounters Roger again, giving her the chance to act more like her game self prior.
I do think it gets a bit too "girl power" by the end in a way the game never did. I mean, I can sympathize during the earlier chapters, where it's mainly that the women at the whorehouse don't want their own daughters to be stuck in their line of work (it's the late 1800s and they're trying to get by), but the last few chapters kind of beat the reader over the head with a message that women can accomplish whatever they want because they're women; not so much from Koudelka herself, but rather Joshua, whose mother raised her as a boy, and very much considers Koudelka a role model. Also noticed that aside from the demons in the graveyard, every other antagonist is male, and very few who aren't outright enemies or children are actually shown as sympathetic.
Still an interesting aside to the game as a whole and gives some screencap-worthy panels, but could have wrapped up in a much less preachy way, and not really what I'd call a "must read" or anything for series fans compared to the games.

>Assassin's Pride
An interesting and unique setting was squandered on the anime equivalent of Twilight in which a super handsome, super talented vampire has to take care of a 13 year old girl. The show criminally underuses its setting and teases at an overarching plot, but in the end, exists to showcase how powerful the MC is and how loyal to the girl he is. To her credit, the girl is intelligent, a hard worker, and talented, putting her head and shoulders above most female main characters in shows like this, but as always with Japan, there's a permanently friend zoned childhood friend who is infinitely more talented and attractive involved. Pretty forgettable show overall.
>Senryuu Girl
I dismissed this show offhand when it aired after reading a description that made it sound like a serious drama along the lines of trash like True Tears and Tari Tari. What I got was a comedy series that actually gets laughs out of me with its charming cast. As each episode is only around 10 minutes long, the show maintains a brisk pace that ensures gags don't outlive their welcome. This is a must watch if you're in the mood for something to put a smile on your face, and Nanako is a miracle of the universe.
