When achievements came out in WoW, there was one for killing all the kings the opposing faction in their city. The reward was a black bear that you could ride. I used to organize raids to do it about once a month for random people on the server and the whole thing took forever to do.

One unfortunate soul disconnected on the last of the 4 bosses and only reconnected after he died, meaning he missed out on the achievement. He started PMing me, begging me to arrange a group for 1 and only 1 boss and told me about how he was literally crying irl. I too got myself a bass guitar after the electric guitar, but I had about as much luck with playing it as I did the guitar, which is to say I didn't learn to play much at all.
