The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

> ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups

So we're not supposed to wash pots and cups?

>don't hold to pagan or jewish traditions

>christian tradition is from the apostles and is nothing like the jewish or pagan traditions

so why is christian tradition so bad?

>For laying aside the commandment of God

Your point OP? Jesus never condemns traditions because they are traditions - He condemns them because they go against the commandments of God, because people place teach them as commandments of God, because people were turning human traditions into Divine commandments, etc.

There is nothing wrong with a tradition simply because it's a tradition (indeed, notice here that forbidding people from doing what is allowed and telling them they are sinning against God by doing this allowed thing is as much false doctrine as commanding them to do what is not commanded and claiming this to have been commanded by God - and there is nothing in the Bible or otherwise that tells us that traditions are evil simply because they are traditions) - only with evil traditions, and good or neutral traditions abused or treated in a wrong way.

What OP is getting at here is the Catholic Church had been blanketed with traditions. Traditions which they say will get you to God rather than just faith and belief in our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Of course they can use Thessalonians but there has always been fighting over what’s tradition and what isn’t.

Explain what you mean. Are you talking about Sols Fide? Sacraments like Baptism? Traditional Catholic practices that developed through the centuries?
