Has anyone ever achieved anything great when the motivation begins and ends at sexual arousal? Suppose by some miracle the stars align for these dysmorphics -- the science works out and they can change their 'forms' without severe problems. What comes next? What beautiful dream will they present to the people? Self-aware anthros. Now in good old sci-fi terms this would imply tool using language using beings driven by commonly understood emotion and logic. Animals don't have hands, don't speak, and are guided by instincts.

This is still a long way off. Even getting a true, functional sex change is beyond current medical technology. Human-animal chimeras are still only being used to grow body parts for implantation in people, and then only because it's easier to do that than to try to grow those part is a vat. The best you could hope for right now would be cosmetic surgery. But I don't think that will give you the results you're looking for and radical body mods don't age well.
