Scanfag again. I should be done with it in a hour or two. Turns out jpg without sharpness brings the best quality and file size. Even as a PNG or TIFF, the quality didn't change.
Here's are two scans left is with sharpness and right is without. You can probably tell that the right is cleaner looking. Will fix edges when I upload the whole thing of course.

I use a Canon LiDE 220. You put the page inside and you close the lid. Scan, and do the other side. That and editing are the time consuming part. You have to constantly make sure there's no foreign matter on the scanner's surface. Also if any page is slightly warped, you need to flatten it out with something before scanning. Therefor you should scan cover pages before debinding (assuming the whole book can fit in the scanner. This is no problem for this 48 page book).
For editing, I use Paint.net which is a much better version of paint. Most edits are just adjusting canvas size to even edges out or get rid of those excess borders. For example, in the first image here, there was some glue on the right side of the page so I had to adjust it a little for it to not show up.
Now for debinding, it's easy. There are many videos on how to do it. You just need gloves and a headgun/hairdryer. Heat the spin and then the pages. Once the first page is removed, the rest come out very easy. The gloves are so you don't make sweaty fingerprints on the pages while pulling them off when using the heatgun/hairdryer.
Anyway editing took longer than I thought. So I'll finish and upload this tomorrow. But here are some cleaned images. The first one is my favorite.

I doubt I'm the only scanner here. As for requests? I haven't really decided if I wanted to or not. I just scan things I've bought and don't think will be uploaded. A lot from C92 that I've purchased hasn't been uploaded to Sad Panda. Though only like 5% of it is kemono related.
My Rikose doujin I posted earlier from C92 came in. Now I'm just waiting on these 2. The 2nd one is 152 pages. Not sure if I'll scan that one since it's so many damn pages. Do people really want that one?

Honestly I think the main reason why I scan anything is because it's way easier to read. It's way too much effort for no payoff and ton of annoying beggars. I sometimes wish I could do what fakku did for except for kemono so I at least get something out of it and support the artist because it's nearly impossible to actually support most of them (unless you make a huge effort to proxy to get their stuff, though a few are expanding to DLsite and put it on alicebooks).

Well look at that, didn't think many others even got their hands on it.
On my end I am still ashamed that the trouble with the other scanner delayed the process for so long, but on the other I am happy someone did get to scanning it.
And, no, I had not dropped it. However there was someone who already debound their book for scanning and then weren't able to scan it themselves, saying they could send me their copy. Therefore it felt like a waste for me to break my book as well.
And so there has been a long time of just waiting.
And now, after spending so much time and money on acquiring the book and a scanner, the least I could do is offer help in editing the scanned pictures, if you send over a batch I'll have the pages trimmed. Least I can be helpful in some way regarding this project.

It's actually easier to debind larger books than smaller ones. With larger books, I can just lay the heatgun/hairdryer down and let it warm the spine's resin binding the pages without having to hold the book down or hold the heatgun. With smaller books, you have to manually heat different parts while holding down the book. Then you have to open it up and heat the pages. Therefor, debinding 10 doujins (around 220 pages) takes 30-40 minutes while debinding a large doujins (120+ pages) takes about 5 minutes.
Now scanning is what takes the longest. Scanning 18 pages takes about 10 minutes depending if the scanner wants to cooperate or not. It's something I can do while casually watching a movie or something. Editing is easy and I can do a page in 5-7 seconds if I'm just trimming. If I'm editing an artbook, it can take ages as I have to remove debri, glue, and make sure I'm scanning it properly trying to deduce moire and getting the balance right.
These artbooks are something I uploaded recently. The Blade one had glue all over the right edge of the page and I believe I did a decent job editing it out. If you closely inspect it, you might notice. Meanwhile I edited out debri on the Idolmaster one which took a few hours to do all the pages.

Here's the Idolmaster image I was talking about. Wrinkles, bent corners, hairs, debri. All needed to be edited out. It's not that easy getting the scanner completely clean even with microfiber clothes. Still, I need to work on color balance before I do another art book. The Blade one is a tad faded compared to what it should be. I'm trying to find the right settings on my scanner to achieve this. Or maybe it can only be done with some good editing.

I just edit with paint+. I don't actually cut them with scissors. Same with the glue. I wouldn't dare try to actually remove it. It could tear the page. Heating it up and trying to remove it like that could also smear it. I think it's just better to edit over it.

Really? I've heard melonbooks canceling orders to forwarders (especially P.O. box ones). Only proxies have a good chance. I use 2you4.jp for forwarding because it's super cheap but haven't tried because I don't want to deal with canceled orders that I've heard about.
That being said, you can try 2you4.jp but it's a very DIY thing and their site is design for mobile only. They have a completely different name (Quantium Solutions) when they email you/ask for payment/etc. Really cheap and worked for me no problems ordering from alicebooks/mandarake/toranoana, and they combined all the books into a single box. Have only done it once.

It's hard to tell which looks better. What do you guys think? The first image is done with Unsharp Mask on High with Descreeining and the second image is done without the Descreening. The descreening removes most of the scan lines but the image looks a little more blurred while the second image, that doesn't have descreening, looks sharper and bold but the scan lines stand out much more.
So do you guys like the quality of the first or second image more?

Proxying/forwarding isn't a problem for me, it's just that alice-books can send "small packet" (under 2kg or something, uses surface mail) vs normal EMS or airmail. Shipping is expensive as fuck, with small packet being the cheapest way to ship. If I get a larger order it's a bit more cheaper per doujin overall. This Doujin is something I never expected to see it scanned since not everyone else cares about that, but to my surprise, someone already did! Really excited at first, but later feeling disappointed because there are only 34 pages whereas the description states that it has either 44 or 46 pages and because of this, the scan itself feels rushed and uncompleted with some missing pages.
I can only hope that the one who scanned this Doujin can listen to this, but I don't think he/she can.

Had to rescan the second one because it could have looked much better (first image is the original). The artbook has a lot of grain on it but the colors are pretty accurate. I could remove the grain but I would rather keep it high quality and natural looking than remove the grain and over filter the image. But anyone can easily do that if they want.

If you have a good camera like a DSLR, then you can take high-resolution pictures of the pages under uniform, soft lighting, but given you mentioned your phone I doubt that's the case.

It's not a perfect scan but it looks alright for a first try. Could be better. Maybe Longsworduser or another scanbro can give you some advice?
The easiest to fix problems I can see are that the scan resolution is relatively low, and that the jpg quality level is too low; not sure exactly what quality you should shoot for, but 3 megs for an entire full color doujin is way too low, causing a lot of obvious jpg artefacting. You could probably get away with a megabyte or two per page depending on how high you increase the resolution.
Other than that you can see a lot of color noise in the dark fur of the shota. I'm not sure if there is anything you can do to help; perhaps you can set a slower scanning speed that reduces noise? After that, a mild pass of "smart blur" in photoshop (selective guassian blur in GIMP) can be used to reduce noise without blurring out details. Compare pics related (moderately blurred in GIMP), I did a half-assed job that arguably makes his fur look worse (and did blur some details out…) but you should be able to see how, if you can find a way on the scanner's end to reduce the color noise, this technique should be able to blur away the rest with a lighter setting. You can also see how difficult it is to perceive jpg artifacts at higher quality settings.
Hope this doesn't come across as complaining, I'm grateful to you and anyone else that takes the time and fugs up their books so we can read them. Just throwing some ideas out there that could make your future scans better.

Don't worry about it, I appreciate any advice. I still have the raw scans on my computer, so maybe I can try to tinker with them. And the book is still completely intact, since it's basically just 6 pages stapled together, so I didn't really lose anything by doing this, which is why I chose it for a first attempt.
If it helps to give some advice, my process was putting the whole book face down on the scanner and scanning it at "600 resolution", which I'm assuming is the same thing as dpi. The scans ended up being around 7000x5000 and 80mb png's (again, for two pages per scan), so I was really concerned about how to reduce the file size. I didn't know what a good size was or a good way of achieving it, so I just scaled the image down in Gimp to the resolution it's at now and exported it as a jpeg at 90% quality after cropping and cleaning the individual pages.

There's a few things that can be improved. First, try to aim for a DPI of 300. It's good for resolution and file size. I usually go for 350 but that's just me. Second thing you should do is place black paper or cardboard over whatever you're scanning. This will prevent "see through". As in you won't see the content on the other side of your page. Also crop your pages to remove the rough edges from debinding or those large white streaks you see on certain pages.
Now when it comes to scanning gray scale, you're going to have to play with the leveling/cuves tool. For a artist that has a consistent art style, you only need to set this once per book. But for one with various artists, you may need multiple settings because artists shade in different ways. Compare my first and second image. The black/white stand out more and that misty gray film over everything is gone. An easy way of doing that is making the shadows darker and the lights brighter.
Looking at the third image, that's what you want your curve to look like but it may slightly change depending on the artist. Adjusting the lower left sector adjusts the dark colors and the upper right adjusts the bright colors. Moving either up or down with make them lighter/darker. This is more complicated when dealing with actual colors and takes a ton of configuring before you realize what influences what and that will only come with time and experience. Anyways, I scanned with the settings in the third image and then used Paint+ to tweak it again to give it the finishing touch. I would recommend using photoshop or Gimp as they'll give you better file sizes than Paint+. As you can see from my second image, the filesize is much bigger than it should be.
Funny enough, I made a mistake when editing the curves and removed small details but removing too much "gray". Anyway, I hope this helps out. If you have any questions then just ask.

I wouldn't recommend putting anything on the scanner that could scratch it like legos. Debinding with a hairdryer is fine but tears can be avoided if you heat the resin properly. Not enough heat and you'll tear the page. Too much heat and you might liquefy the resin and glue strands with ruin pages. Not as bad as tearing but still annoying to edit out. Getting down the proper amount of heat simply takes practice.
I wasn't expecting you to scan it any time soon though. Scanning can be pretty time consuming. I simply have plenty of free time these days.

That's actually not difficult to fix thanks to the fact that it's right next to a pattern. It can be fixed via a cloning tool in Photoshop, Gimp or Paint+.
>What's your method of scanning.
Scan the covers first and then debind with a hairdryer. I use the cover and SauceNAO/Ascii2D to search up the name of the doujin. Once I have that I make a preview of the image and tamper with the curve settings until I have a proper color scheme for the material I'm scanning. Now I scan everything under that name while cleaning the scanner every few pages. My settings are 300-350dpi with dust removal set to low. No denoise or sharpness. It's important to use some black screen of some sort to scan pages. This prevents see-through from the back of the page.
After scanning I compress every image into a .zip as it's the raw material to be used just in case I screw up the editing step that comes next. I use Photoshop, Gimp, or Paint+ to crop rough edges, clean out foreign material with the cloning and paint tool, remove any tears with the cloning tool, and use the curves tool adjust the colors if necessary. If I have any naming or numbering mistakes, I use IrfanView to to correct that.
That's how I scan. Some people would recommend scanning at 600dpi and then downscaling with Photoshop to a resolution that's similar to 300dpi. That should get rid of screening/moise from what I've heard. I haven't done this myself so I can't tell you how much of a difference it makes. Also messing with the curves (as shown here >>10148) is important. In the first image I just posted, it looks faded and gray (I admittedly messed up by not editing the curves). The second image is what happens when you tweak the curves properly. The shadows are pitch black and the white areas are pure white. Saying that, you don't want to remove gray shadows and other small details but going to dark/light.

Ripping the character art is reliant on the game cache and due to the nature of the game, being a gacha and all, getting all the character art is going to require some assistance from other people (though the models themselves are always there, so that part is easy). Alternatively, https://koryaku.fullbokko.drecom.jp/units/ has all the unit artwork, though the icons are smaller and the big character art is placed with a background instead of having a transparent one like in the game files.

I might do that, though there's like 3k units so that'll take a while (give or take a ~thousand due to model re-use for many units below 5 star). For now I just have a mega for the ones I've ripped so far. Got about ~100 models and various textures and audio at the moment. I did the same for Catbusters as well as that was also a Unity game, but I was deathly ill the month it was shutting down so I didn't get as many units ripped as I wanted. Though that's getting some kind of "Memorial app" with new cats so another chance to rip the ones I'm missing I suppose.

How do you figure? New doujins on alicebooks, melon, and tora tend to range from 500-900 yen, whereas second-hand books on mandarake tend to start at 1,000+ and surugaya matches a 500-1000 initial listing but exponentially rises when repeatedly bought.
