'I am not your Negro': Cleveland Heights mayor attacks City Council amid accusations of antisemitism
"…CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio - Mayor Kahlil Seren shocked onlookers during a special council committee meeting Friday to discuss the mayor's reactions to accusations that his wife, Natalie McDaniel, made antisemitic remarks about Jewish city officials.
"You are not my overseer; I am not your Negro", Seren, who is Black, said to the five council members who were present.
The statement, which came minutes into the meeting, sparked audible gasps from members of council and the public.
Then multiple people called for him to resign.
Seren went on to attack council, accusing them of conducting "an exercise in electoral politics from the dais" and refusing to have difficult conversations about racial and ethnic tensions in the city…"
