I don't even bother with TV service or streaming anymore, cut the cord way before "cutting the cord" became a popular movement, the mid-2000s is when I switched to DVD box sets and back to VHS as well. Still have an older Sony VCR/DVD Combo player, works just fine. Then I got rid of most the video cassettes because extremely unreliable for long term storage, and went full blown DVD and storing digital copies of all my favorite old classic TV shows and movies. Most of it golden era stuff from 50s 60s 70s & 80s and some 90s stuff too. American entertainment used to be really good. It's utter vile stupid shit today, won't bother with 99% of it. Very very slim exceptions like the Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul series which I admit is entertaining lol.

A ton of people I know refused to get it, which I realize is anecdotal, but there were still a lot of people who knew that shit was dangerous/suspicious.

Kinda true though. I haven't had tv in 90 years but holy fuck the propoganda was everywhere.

I'm sorry you have to live in a commie shithole like New York City or Chicago surrounded by brainwashed idiots.

Sorry anon, but this just ain't true from my own experience… but for some maybe it is depending who they hang out with and where they live.

I'm guessing that's a typo and you meant 9 years. I too decided to cut TV service far before cutting the cord became popular and for that very reason during the mid-2000s. Never regretted it, saved a ton of money and my mind is unmolested and relentlessly critical.

I was just exaggerating because I haven't had it in years, but I just don't remember how long it's been. I moved out of my parent's and just didn't buy tv service, cable, sat, whatever.

Yeah, tv is absolute brainrot, literally a jewish culture war propaganda machine. You definitely made the right choice.

Based. What do you use for archiving? Are you imagining the discs, or converting to mp3 or some other format?

Because the actor is really a skilled comedian. Watch the show Blackadder if you want to see real skills of Hugh Laurie. House was never popular in countries that watch british comedy. for a reason.

Different anon here.

I have 10 (and counting) 5TB eternal drives, all about 65% full (you should not max out a drive's capacity).

I keep music in FLAC and MP3 formats. I have over 750,000 songs ranging from blues to indie rock to classical.

Movies/DVDs - I have about 5000, the overwhelming majority were copied, using DVD Shrink and burned to physical media. Libraries are incredible sources for film. Almost none of my burned films are Hollywood releases, rather mostly Euro, Russian, Japanese, German, Swedish, etc, movies from the 20th century.

In other words, about 30+TB of music and film made by White people and non-jews.

It's easier than you may think. DVD Shrink copies a DVD in less than 20-minutes, and your computer does all the work.

UseNet is also a superb source for music and vidya.

Why not? Will this cause the drive to eventually crash? Kinda concerned because I own several 4TB and 8TB drives myself and almost all are nearly 90% full. Should I consider buying a couple bigger drives so I won't max anything out?

Pretty much the same here.

I love having offline backup copies of everything I own and have several 8TB drives that are duplicate collections of everything I have. My 4TB drives for movies and music but includes extra stuff like favorite Youtube channel rips.

>UseNet is also a superb source for music and vidya.

So is bit torrent, SLSK and Fopnu in my opinion.

Most the DVDs I have, movies and favorite old shows, I have the same videos converted to x264 mp4 formats in numerous external harddrive collections. I don't mind buying DVDs because they are really cheap today. You can go to thrift shops, flea markets or even modern antique stores now have them for cheap prices. Obviously always check the conditions of used DVDs before purchasing. I find favorite classic movies on DVD that cost me only $1 to $3 each depending where sold. Ebay also has some old TV show box sets that sell dirt cheap. I've gotten brand new DVD box sets of whole TV series for as cheap as $20 up to $50 average. Not bad when you consider those are entire TV shows on numerous DVDs including special features, no advertisements, you physically own them. Make digital copies and have several backups if you are worried about lifetime storage issues.

We love antiquing, and I always peruse the DVDs and find gold. I rarely purchase them since I do prefer digital media and do not want to keep up with a physical collection, but I think digitizing and archiving that stuff would be a fun project.

You're probably fine. I get paranoid about maxxing out a drive's capacity, and it goes back to 20-30 years ago using PCs where you needed to keep a good chunk of free space. On an external this is likely no issue at all.

Old habits die hard.
