BeagleV is the only tech company I see that's trying to make online privacy in America these days possible at the hardware level.
>BeagleV Starlight/Ahead
>uses a quad core 64-bit SoC from StarFive — no Intel/ARM/AMD shit in their SBC cores
>has mainline Linux support (kernel 5+)
>mostly open source drivers except for touchscreen support, and that's only because open source touchscreens are still developing since they mostly come from 3rd-party software (in other words, their touchscreen drivers generally rely on standard Linux frameworks like evdev, but most touchscreen hardware comes from 3rd party sources, although MIPI DSI LCDs with open documentation exist but are niche, but you might consider using USB-based touchscreens or HID-compliant touch devices as a stopgap, since they tend to have good open-source support)
>supports capacitive touchscreens via standard Linux input drivers
>can run Gentoo w/ developing Wayland support (Phosh/Sway/Plasma Mobile) but it requires manual setup since it's still under development, so by extension you can also flash PySIM on a separate SIM card and use it as a phone
BeagleV is the only company I know of that both has open source RISC-V SBCs w/ mainline Linux support (and is compatible w/ Gentoo/Phosh), has open source drivers and touchscreen support, no Intel/ARM/AMD cores and open source touchscreens that are compatible with the SBCs at the firmware level. Sipeed is proprietary and so is SiFive.
