Origen believed that everyone would go to heaven, even satan. He also experimented with some ideas like reincarnation which were popular back then among Christian circles. Origen was actually a eunuch, who castrated himself in front of a nun. A lot of Christians point this out in an attempt to discredit him, however his role in shaping Christianity cannot be denied.

Well, it likely did happen, even though Origen never mentioned it in his writings (denial?) because Eusebius was one of his colleagues and Demetrius (one of his later turned foes) did mention him doing something in his youth but it didn't specify and Jerome also corroborated the story, so it's likely this event did actually occur during his youth.
