> "Progress"
aka More apps for muh dummy-phones.
Meanwhile:
1. No significant fundamental advances 'a la' Schroedinger/Bohr/Planck/Bohr since the 1940's, other than "'Look, I saw a fart in the LHC!'"
Nothing on par with, say, discovering the electron, creating the transistor.
Inb4 "nothing left to discover". Read a book dummy, there are massive gaping holes in physics that we have made ZERO PROGRESS on: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CPT_symmetry
2. Real progress should be measured in increase of leisure time. From the 1930's to the late 1950's, Americans experiencedREAL PROGRESS:bigger houses, more food, more cars, more vacations, increasing lifespans, working man's hours reduced from 12 hours per day to 8 hours per day.
The only "progress" since 1960 is that Mr. Goldman bought some more yachts. Everything else sucks for everyone else.
Now we have:
• decreasing lifespans (yup, look it up. USA lifespans have been DECREASING for approximately a decade).
• Less leisure time.
• Less affordable houses (technology can reduce the cost of computer, but magically cannot reduce the cost of house construction? BULLSHIT. And it's not land price either, empty lots are still relatively cheap (I scout lots regularly, they are relatively cheaper than houses).
3. Less freedom due to constant violation of social norms by permanent indigents. Essentially, "we can't have nice things" in public because a large segment of the US population is permanently committed to being violent savages.
