I said "sorta" in that a large percentage and "for most people" AKA "CHUDs" in big cities.
Tech is advancing fast enough (and I'm trying to be part of that) that new "cars" got enough new features that people want that IMO about 10yrs replacement is about right. Fairly soon, there will be both real Self Driving, and that will lead to Car Share, which will be like Uber/Lyft but without people, and much better because you could have option of full self driving or U-Drive, and unlike Uber you don't need to have humaniod Jeets waiting to spring into action for "surge".
Joe Biden was sorta right when he said we could use E-Cars to help buffer The Grid, since by dumb luck The Grid has excess power in wee morn hours when nearly everyone wants to charge E-Cars, and E-Cars that have been charged but don't need their full charge could sell juice back to Grid in peak hours.
Takes 6-12 hours to fully charge Tesla on 220v, which most houses have even out in the sticks, and 220v and even 440v is running all over apt parking garage areas.
Car makers told Dealers they'd have to stop ripping off buyers at sale, and make money on Service. That hasn't worked out for Dealers because believe it or not, newer cars need much less service. My 2020 Prius Prime is spec to go 10k miles between oil changes and newer oil claims 20K. Its still on its first factory spark plugs and brake pads at 125k. Replaced the 12v (but only because I'd left lights on a few times to drain it out), ATF, tires, wiper blades, coolant, air filter, cabin filter, but not a single thing has "gone wrong" and I'm told that is nearly guaranteed for about 300,000k or 10yrs, even though Traction Batt is only guaranteed for 100k.
"if maintained properly" and quite frankly even if, that isn't the majority, then again, every person I know that says their new cars break down also drives insane and also claims they drive great.
My overall point about AOC's Green Deal is it wasn't about more trillions for War for Israel, but (if we must have Govt pushing something will all those tax dollars) pushing comfy civilian stuff.
There are reasons there are vast gated communities and even open road whole small towns that are "golf cart friendly" now.
I'm wondering if these CHEAP Chinese retro E-cars are sized to handle fat ass Americans.
