Why does the United States even need to take a side in this never-ending morally void vendetta over a tiny scrap of land with no significant natural resources and very little real strategic value?

Can anyone give me a logical real politick reason to prop up Israel? Something besides holocaust guilt, Arab hate or religious woo-hoo….
