You could probably rig it using the fitted mesh BUTT collision volume, since that responds to physics settings and is a child of the mPelvis bone. BELLY might also work, but I don't remember if it's directly attached to mPelvis or something else. This would, of course, require you to be careful with those sliders, since they'd affect its size.
It's kind of surprising that nobody's used BELLY rigging on a fat mesh body, come to think of it.

Check out LightStar, just ignore the default skins because they're fucking awful, but the proportions and shapes tend to hit a pretty good middle ground between realistic and stylized. This is Marian, the more "balanced" of the LightStar heads. Athena has more of the angular "supermodel jaw" look, and looks older on average; the newer Lin and Maya are even more round-shaped than Marian, and might be even more suited to your purposes.
I really wish LS heads got more publicity, because this isn't the first time I've seen someone ask for "more realistic than Utilizator stuff, but more stylized than Catwa/etc", and they seem to hit a pretty solid middle ground. Coincidentally, it was my own dissatisfaction with Catya that set me on the hunt that ended up at Lightstar, just after the release of Marian (I'd seen Athena before, but it was too "handsome").
The skin is a modification of one from [][]Trap[][], but I can't in good conscience recommend them because they have exactly one "normal" skin and this is it. If you've got any texturing talent, I'd look for a "teen" or "young" skin (those searches will usually avoid skins with heavy cheek/jaw shading that is a major cause of the "supermodel jaw" look) and work from there. If not, well, hope you're more familiar with skin vendors than I am. On that note, get comfortable with using SLCacheViewer (or a copybot viewer, but that's a whole different headache) to fetch UUIDs to stick into the basic Omega applier, because otherwise testing skins is annoying and time-consuming.

Water horse. Good animations, can buy more poses/accessories/coats from other people. Make sure to join the group for a discount, because it's about as expensive as a pre-bento horse avatar. Technically, you could use it as a basic horse avatar as well.

You could probably improvise something like that easily by wearing a static washing machine prop and a full-body alpha. Depending on how animated you want it to be, the only difficult part might be finding an AO (animation override) that actually looks like an appliance hopping, sliding, or dragging itself around. If you learn a bit of basic scripting, you could gradually add more expressive features like moving parts, opening door, etc.

Not every store has been checked, no, that is a lot of work for the few people contributing to the list. Quite a few shops have been checked out though, and those are the only ones that consistently met the requirements.
As to why one shop from the same creator might have made it and another didn't, it's possible their other shops just haven't been checked, or they didn't consistently practice efficient habits for whatever reason.
The main problem with Jian is alpha switching, which is an inherently bad practice (but I understand it was a limit of SL). Their triangle counts and VRAM usage tend not to be very bad all things considered. Hopefully they'll start making animesh soon.
Sweet Thing suffers from unnecessarily high VRAM on many items, and some truly insane triangle counts here and there. They're one of those "use 1024s for literally everything" creators. Culprit is also very bad on VRAM for many things when I checked.
Both tend to be mod though for most items, so at least textures can be rescaled for those who know how. Once that is done, the items from both shops are often pretty efficient, with no notable quality, but as it is, they didn't make the list because that's not how they're sold.
I haven't checked out Noxturnal yet, might do that later.
