I skimmed this and it looks like garbage. All wide-angle lenses and directly addressing the audience. This looks as if the director had the mindset of "I'm not making a film, I'm making ART" and the result (as usual) is a bunch of pretentious bullshit. Like Everything Everywhere All At Once.

There's constant dismissal of populist films because they're designed to please crowds, while shit like this is praised as being high art, or intellectual, or sophisticated. As if making the thing difficult, or taxing to engage with is the sign of skill. Really it's just being obtuse. Film is a storytelling medium, and if you want to share a story, values, or some kind of message, the smarter and more skilful artist will make it easily accessible to as many as possible.

If I like an artist, I will seek out their works because a, for lack of better working, critically acclaimed artistic work tells me about the artist. And that is all.

A popular work tell me about everyone. Whether the work is of a higher quality or not is not interesting to me, I just want to see what manages to capture the public imagination.
