Every franchise/series is getting fucked over with endless shitty sequels; Alien, Star Wars, Ghostbusters, Jurassic Park, Star Trek, Doctor Who, and Predator. Not to mention my childhood favourite: He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. Used to look forward to the possibility of a new He-Man film nearly two decades now, but it seems the one with Dolph will be the go-to live-action adaptation after all.

People hold the Alien series up on a pedestal, while the Predator films are treated more like disposable action/sci-fi films. Not that the Alien series is being treated any better.
It really shouldn’t be that hard to make a decent Predator sequel, but they have to make everything subversive and full of girlbosses, so I don’t see much hope it will recover any time soon.

I made a rule for myself a few years ago that no matter what the franchise is, no matter how good all the reviews and word of mouth it, I will not pay money and see a new instalment of a franchise I love in the cinema. Because I don't want Disney (who owns basically every franchise I grew up loving at this point) to think that it's viable to suck the life out of the way they have Marvel and especially Star Wars. Movies and TV shows, just constantly bombarding us with shit. You watch, if Badlands is even remotely successful there will be 5 more movies and two TV shows announced.

I am so glad Amazon/Jen Salke canned the production of their Conan the Barbarian show. The original Conan film is my all time favorite film. Thankfully the IP has too much “toxic masculinity” for them to go through with anything Conan-related.
I thought the Predator series was safe too, since it is manly action heroes, but now they’ve turned that too into silly girl power fantasy.
And it goes without saying that the new predator design is fucking retarded. Hard pass.
