When shopping for flooring or carpeting, do you prefer buying from large chain stores or local retailers? What factors sway your decision—price, selection, delivery, or something else?

For me, it depends on the project. If I’m just replacing a rug or small area, I’ll order online for convenience. But for full flooring jobs, I like visiting in person to see textures and tones. Photos don’t always capture color accurately, and lighting changes everything once installed.

When I redid my basement flooring, I compared prices and options from big-name retailers and smaller local stores. Honestly, the selection was similar, but the level of detail and product knowledge varied. I ended up going with a mid-size regional store that offered a better selection of eco-friendly materials. What really helped was doing my research beforehand. I read through some insights on https://www.flooringandcarpetreviews.com/ to understand which materials worked best in damp areas and what finishes would last.
