I wouldn't call it trolling, but I agree that it's a non-point. Following that logic, anything can be allowed on any board, so long as everyone hides whatever they don't like.
So yeah. "Just hide it if you don't like it" is off topic, this is a discussion about allowing this content or not, on the board.
My take on it is: I'd love to allow for any kind of discussion, but the fact of the matter is that the moment a political discussion pops up, you get /pol/ posters pointing fingers at /leftypol/ and the other way around, and both doing so without any real justification.
The IDEAL solution would be to get both sides to be more reasonable, but since that is impossible, I suppose I'd be in favor of allowing the staff to delete "bait" political threads, as long as that's justified. Whether it's justified or not is left at the discretion of the staff and the community, through reports.

I'm not in favor of banning them actually. Okay, this is a bit early in the thread, but we've had SOME amount of feedback so here's a first proposal. I'd like to know what the community thinks of it. I think it's a decent compromise without forcing anything down anyone's throat.
From what I can see:
- One side wants to stop seeing race arguments all over /kind/. I think no one likes /pol/ - /leftypol/ fingerpointing, shill-calling, shitposting, etc
- The other side cares about keeping the board relatively moderation free. Banning one kind of conversation sets a precedent for future community complaints that could lead to further content deletion.
Both sides have a point here. We want the board to remain a fun space for everyone, but we also want it to remain a place for open-minded discussion. So here's a proposal, keep in mind this is *my* proposal as a poster, this is nothing official in any way.
We don't ban people for making comments, or threads on politically sensitive topics. Neither do we delete said threads. However if a thread heads that way, we just autosage it.
That way whoever wants to debate in there gets to debate about race and nationalism and whatever they want and everyone else can be okay with it.
About posters who are genuinely trying to start flame wars, (which so far, I have to be honest, looking at posting history of people who have been accused of that, there are almost none): If the staff ever has sufficient proof that someone is just on /kind/ to stir shit up, they will get warned, and then banned if they keep doing it, as has ALWAYS been our philosophy with those kinds of people anyway.

The fetish thread is a good example. I'm annoyed at not having an ID in that thread. I know what I posted. I'm not afraid of having my kinks being linked to my replies as I continue to post in that thread, because it won't leave that thread. Having an ID would not have stopped me, because it's contained to that thread. I don't believe IDs will attract more bullies. In fact, it would more likely be used to call out bullies (which would be unfair). I don't want to call out samefriends. IDs allow you to converse within a thread more easily, while still retaining anonymity as a whole.
I'll admit I am biased. I've been using ID boards for the last 7 or 8 months since coming to 8chan. It's possible I've grown too comfortable with it. I've never been attacked by someone following my ID. I even post in a cyclical thread with an ID. No one follows me and calls me out.

To me, namefriendging is trying to create a handle, an identity.
Using the namefield ironically for a single post is not trying to namefriend.
In these cases, i don't think they should be edited out because its not to build an identity.
My question:
If all uses of the namefield is prohibited, or will simply be edited out, why bother having it?

I enjoy anime pictures a lot, however
Anime after 1995 is really bad, unless high or drunk. Any sane person just skips 15 seconds forwards all the time when watching anime, there is just not enough content to watch this crap for 20 minute-long episode without skipping. You can watch any episode in 7 minutes, especially if you know Japanese and aren't retarded. It's because it's artificially extended to hit the 20 minutes. The anime is so simplified and focused on moe aspect that you could just read dialogue in txt file (open subs) and you'll not miss ANY context. You'll understand the plot just fine, because it's so standardized and simplified.
After years one becomes desentesized to shallow moe aspect and just skips it through because it's so dumb. Anime is the lowest point of human civilization, unless you're on some stimulants, then you forget 3d people even exist and when there's 8 second scene of a loop of character thinking, you get the impression it's the best thing then

Now and again I look in on this board because I like the idea of an imageboard where people actually behave civilly, yet I never much feel like posting. It's finally occurred to me why: when you enforce kindness it sort of loses its meaning. The trouble with "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all" is that you can't really be sure how genuine the nice things are when any unkind things are censored with a veneer of kindness.
There is such a thing as an unkind truth, too– things which are important to hear but aren't altogether nice. You could argue that this is kind in its own way, but it still seems like it goes against the grain of the board.

There are a few things that we could do to keep this board alive, but is it worth postponing the inevitable? /kind/'s fatal flaw is a lack of sustainability. Nothing to keep people browsing other than those emotional attachments, but even then that's not something we can depend on. Maybe we could if we were a legacy board. Hoping a mod can answer some of my questions about the avatarfriend rule.
At what point is there a difference between "posting pictures you like" and "avatarfriendging?" That is, how many times may I post pictures of a certain character before I get banned?
Also, what's the difference between typing "OP here," for example, at the start of a post and attaching a picture that says "OP here?" Both of them identify the poster as OP (which can be useful depending on the thread), but as far as I know, only one is banned.
Finally, how does avatarfriendging go against "respecting anonymity?" In a lot of cases (when it's done across multiple threads), you can't even tell when it's one person posting pics of the same character or multiple people.
I'm not a fan of people who try to craft an identity for themselves across threads on an anonymous board, but as the rule is, it seems like it would result in a lot of people getting banned who don't deserve it.

Let me try to clarify this again in that case.
I am against avatarfriendging as you described it, and I have never wanted to use an avatar.
The problem I have is that the rule strikes me as broad and nonspecific. People might be punished for "avatarfriendging" when that's not what they were doing. Here's an example that might help me explain this:
Anon A makes 4 posts in a week. In each of his posts, he arbitrarily decides to attach a picture of a popular anime character (let's say Akari, even though the other anon didn't like that example), but he posts at different times of day and intentionally changes his writing style very drastically. This means that apart from the pictures, his posts have nothing in common with each other, and upon close inspection, it is not apparent that they were written by the same person.
Anon B makes 4 posts in a day, with very little time difference between them. He uses very different pictures, but he has a very recognizable writing style, repeating certain expressions and opinions multiple times, making it easy to tell that all four posts were written by the same person.
Under the broad and nonspecific "no avatarfriend" rule, anon A could be banned, and anon B would not be banned, even though anon B has much more of a concrete "identity" on the board than anon A does. This is my problem with the rule: it assumes that images = identity, even though there is much more to an "identity" than just using similar pictures.
