Trudeau still refusing to recall Parliament despite ongoing Trump tariff threats

https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/trudeau-still-refusing-to-recall-parliament-despite-ongoing-trump-tariff-threats/

While Trump has delayed imposing tariffs for 30 days, Canadians are still expressing upset with Justin Trudeau for his refusal to recall Parliament as the threat of a trade war looms.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is still refusing to reopen Parliament despite the growing tensions between Canada and the United States.

This week, Canadians pleaded with Trudeau to resume Parliament following the now-delayed 25% tariffs on Canadian exports that were set to be implemented on Tuesday by U.S. President Donald Trump. Despite the economic threat, Trudeau continued to deny the need for the reopening of the legislature.

“This is a moment where we need to set aside our differences and focus on delivering for Canadians, standing up for Canadians,” Trudeau told reporters on Saturday.

“We’re going through a difficult time right now,” he continued. “Emotions may run high here and there.”

“Will you recall Parliament?” asked a reporter.

“We have the tools,” replied Trudeau, suggesting such a recall is unnecessary. Continue...

Trudeau government back in court to appeal ruling against its use of the Emergencies Act

https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/trudeau-government-back-in-court-to-appeal-ruling-against-its-use-of-the-emergencies-act/

Today, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's government is again defending its use of the Emergencies Act against the Freedom Convoy in court after the nation's Federal Court ruled last year that its actions were unlawful.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s government is again in court to claim its use of the Emergencies Act to stop the 2022 Freedom Convoy was warranted, in appeal of a ruling from last year which found its use of the act was unjustified.

Today, the Canadian Civil Liberties Association (CCLA) noted in a press release that it is before the Federal Court of Appeal “to defend its historic victory for the rule of law.”

“While the extraordinary powers granted to the federal government through the Emergencies Act are necessary in extreme circumstances, they also threaten the rule of law and our democracy,” said Anaïs Bussières McNicoll, who serves as the Director of the Fundamental Freedoms program at the CCLA.

McNicoll said that the CCLA will be urging the “Federal Court of Appeal to reject the federal government’s attempt to relax the thresholds necessary for invoking the Act’s extraordinary powers.”

“Legal thresholds do not bend, much less break, in exigent circumstances. We are putting this and future governments on notice: even in times of crisis, no government is above the law,” concluded McNicoll.

In January of 2024, Canada’s Federal Court announced that the use of the EA by the Trudeau government in early 2022 to shut down Freedom Convoy, which was calling for an end to COVID mandates, was a direct violation of the nation’s Charter of Rights and Freedoms and thus was “not justified” and “infringed” on the rights of protesters.

The January 2024 decision by Federal Court Justice Richard Mosley saw the judge write, “Having found that the infringements of Charter sections 2(b) and 8 were not minimally impairing, I find that they were not justified under section 1.”

Shortly after the court ruling, the Trudeau government announced that it would appeal Mosley’s ruling, claiming the federal court “erred in fact and law in declaring that the Regulations infringed subsection 2(b) of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.”

Notably, in the Federal Court of Appeal, where the case is now being heard, 10 out of the 15 judges were appointed by Trudeau.  Continue...

Member state tells EU it won’t take migrants

https://www.rt.com/news/612171-poland-migrants-eu-pact/

Poland has reiterated its opposition to the new bloc-wide policy regarding asylum seekers

The Polish government is firmly opposed to accepting any relocated asylum seekers under the EU’s migration pact, which threatens national security, Interior Minister Tomasz Siemoniak has stated.

The European Parliament adopted the new EU pact on migration and asylum in May 2024. The so-called solidarity mechanism requires responsibility-sharing among member states, given that countries located at the bloc’s external borders have to manage a higher influx of people. Nations that refuse to accept relocated migrants must pay €20,000 (over $20,600) per person as compensation.

Speaking to the Polish radio station RadioZet on Monday, Siemoniak reiterated Warsaw’s opposition to the pact rules, asserting that the country would not comply with the obligations.

“Our position is clear – we are opponents of the Migration Pact, and there is absolutely no question of any acceleration or delay,” said Siemoniak. “We will not accept migrants, and there will be no relocation,” he stressed. Continue...

US sends Indian immigrants home on military plane

https://www.rt.com/india/612170-us-send-migrants-india/

The deportation comes amid President Donald Trump’s crackdown on illegal immigration

A US military plane has taken 205 illegal migrants back to India, an American official told Reuters on Monday. This reportedly marks the first time the US has used a military aircraft to deport Indian nationals as the administration of President Donald Trump cracks down on illegal immigration.

An Air Force C-17 Globemaster aircraft was used to carry the Indians back to their home country. This was the furthest distance a military flight has traveled to return migrants since Trump took office, the report claimed. The plane took off from a US Air Force base in San Antonio, Texas, and landed in Amritsar, in the state of Punjab, according to Indian media reports.

A US embassy spokesperson in New Delhi emphasized that the US is taking a firm stance on unauthorized entry. “The United States is vigorously enforcing its border, tightening immigration laws, and removing illegal migrants. These actions send a clear message: illegal migration is not worth the risk,” the spokesperson said, according to ANI.

This is not the first time that Indian illegal immigrants have been deported. In October, in a collaborative effort with the Indian government, the US Department of Homeland Security used a charter flight to repatriate Indian nationals who had been residing in the country without proper authorization. French-trained Ukrainian army unit probes mass desertions – official

https://www.rt.com/russia/612153-ukraine-france-brigade-desertion-probe/

The ‘Anne of Kiev’ brigade has formed a special branch to search for hundreds of soldiers who are believed to have gone AWOL

An infamous French-trained Ukrainian brigade has initiated an investigation into mass desertions after a separate criminal probe failed to yield swift results, Kiev’s commissioner for soldiers’ rights, Olga Reshetilova, has announced.

According to the ombudswoman, who visited the brigade last week, the new command has created a special unit tasked with tracking down soldiers who are suspected of going AWOL.

The elite 155th Mechanized Brigade, also known as ‘Anne of Kiev’, was meant to be a flagship Ukrainian unit of 4,500 soldiers, half of whom were trained and equipped by France.

However, it made headlines late last year when Censor.NET reported that some 1,700 of its soldiers had fled the unit without firing a single shot. Another 50 servicemen were said to have deserted while still on French soil.

Following the report, Ukraine’s State Bureau of Investigation (DBR) opened a criminal probe, effectively admitting to the desertions. However, the exact number of missing soldiers has not been officially confirmed. In the wake of the scandal, the brigade was effectively dismantled, with soldiers redistributed across other units, lawmaker Mariana Bezuglaya alleged last month. Continue...

South African minister calls for halt to mineral exports to US

https://www.rt.com/africa/612142-south-africa-halt-mineral-exports-us/

Gwede Mantashe has said the continent should not fear Washington’s threats

South Africa’s minister of mineral and petroleum resources, Gwede Mantashe, has called on African countries to withhold mineral exports to the US. The comments come after US President Donald Trump announced plans to cut aid to South Africa over its land expropriation policies.

Speaking on Monday at the Investing in African Mining Indaba conference in Cape Town, Mantashe stated that African nations should not be afraid of US threats.

“Let us withhold minerals to the US,” the minister said. “If they don’t give us money, let’s not give them minerals… we are not just beggars, let us use that endowment for our benefit… If as a continent we are [paralysed] with fear, we are going to collapse, but with minerals at our doorstep.”

The call follows Trump’s announcement that the US would halt all future assistance to South Africa, citing concerns over land expropriation without compensation. On Sunday, the US president called the alleged mistreatment of “certain classes of people” in South Africa a “bad situation that the radical left media doesn’t want to so much as mention.” Continue...

Drug crisis claiming six lives per day in BC

https://www.westernstandard.news/news/drug-crisis-claiming-six-lives-per-day-in-bc/61894

The data showed drug-related deaths were down 13% in 2024.

A new report from the British Columbia Coroners Service has revealed that the drug crisis claimed 2,253 lives in the province in 2024 — over six per day.

Nonetheless, drug-related deaths were down 13% over the year before.

According to the government, of those who died in 2024 as a result of drugs, around 70% were between the ages of 30 and 59, and nearly 75% were male. The female death rate was far lower, at 20 per 100,000, however that number has gone up rapidly since 2020, when it sat at just 13 per 100,000.

While the crisis impacted all areas of the province, the hardest hit areas were Vancouver-Centre north, Lillooet, Greater Campbell River, Terrace, and Prince George. The former is home to the Downtown Eastside.

When it came to which drugs were causing the most harm, fentanyl was by far and away the biggest culprit, detected in 78% of all tests. Next up were cocaine, fluorofentanyl, methamphetamine, and bromazolam, at 52%, 46%, 43%, and 41%, respectively. Continue...

Aga Khan IV, wealthy friend and patron of Justin Trudeau, dies at 88

https://www.westernstandard.news/canadian/aga-khan-iv-wealthy-friend-and-patron-of-justin-trudeau-dies-at-88/61898

The Aga Khan IV, the wealthy spiritual leader of the Ismaili Muslim community and a major global philanthropist, has died at the age of 88 in Lisbon, Portugal, his charitable foundation announced on Tuesday.

Prince Karim Al-Hussaini, as he was formally known, led the world’s 12 million Ismaili Muslims for nearly seven decades after inheriting the title from his grandfather in 1957 at the age of 20. He was also a close personal friend of the Trudeau family, a relationship that sparked the first major conflict of interest scandal of the present Liberal government after it was elected in 2016.

“He was a unique historic figure,” said Arif Lalani, a former Canadian ambassador who ran the Aga Khan’s diplomatic service from 2016 to 2020 who compared his influence to that of the late Queen Elizabeth II.

Canada became an important Ismaili community during his tenure, after Pierre Trudeau welcomed over 6,000 Ismaili refugees from Uganda who had been expelled by dictator Idi Amin in 1972. That has since grown to more than 80,000 and includes Canada’s first Muslim justice minister and first Muslim Supreme Court Justice.

The Aga Khan addressed a joint session of Parliament in 2014 and was instrumental in the construction of the Aga Khan Museum in Toronto. He also helped establish the Global Centre for Pluralism in Ottawa with the government of Canada. Continue...

EXCLUSIVE: ‘Pregnant man’ visits a Regina Public School

https://www.westernstandard.news/saskatchewan/exclusive-pregnant-man-visits-a-regina-public-school/61881

A “pregnant man’s” classroom visit at École W.S. Hawrylak School has left some parents and Regina Public Schools (RPS) employees upset about the lack of parental notification and consent.

The unannounced visit took place in January, according to a source within the school, who said they were “horrified and mortified” that it happened without parents knowing about it.

Parents said these visits are another sign that RPS is promoting radical gender ideology, while ignoring Bill 137, known as the Parents Rights Bill, which calls for more transparency and involvement of parents in discussions about gender identity and sexuality.

In January, Premier Scott Moe’s government directed school boards to revise their bathroom and changing room policy, but RPS has stated it will continue following the Canadian Charter of Rights and the Saskatchewan Human Rights Code instead.

Parents who disagree with RPS’s approach said they want clearer communication and input when sensitive topics such as transgenderism are brought into the classroom.

The kindergarten to Grade 8 school, located in Regina’s east end, shares a transgender Educational Assistant with Harbour Landing School.

RPS has not issued a public response.

The Western Standard reached out to Premier Scott Moe's office but received no response.

CARPAY: Arrogance is no substitute for scientific debate on COVID

https://www.westernstandard.news/opinion/carpay-arrogance-is-no-substitute-for-scientific-debate-on-covid/61892

"Hopefully, these doctors will have a change of heart, and take the time to read the Final Report and respond thoughtfully to all its findings and recommendations."

Alberta’s medical establishment feels very threatened by the Final Report of the Alberta COVID-19 Pandemic Data Review Task Force.

Commissioned by Alberta Premier Danielle Smith, this 269-page report by eminent medical doctors and other distinguished scientists was released on January 24. The report is highly critical of the Alberta government’s lockdowns and vaccine passports as the response to COVID-19 and recommends different policies be used in future public health emergencies.

Three days after the Final Report was released, the Alberta Medical Association (AMA) issued a very short statement, just 64 words, denouncing the entire report as “biased, anti-science, anti-evidence, spreading misinformation,” and advancing “fringe approaches.” I have written about this in a previous column.

Two days after the AMA released its science-free rhetorical statement, 48 physicians and university professors endorsed an open letter to Smith and Alberta Health Minister Adriana LaGrange, calling on both to dismiss the Final Report in its entirety. The number of signatories has reportedly grown, since this open letter was released on January 29.

One might hope that this open letter from doctors and other scientists would refute and rebut the Final Report’s voluminous contents and its detailed review of the government's response to COVID-19. One might expect that scientists would explain why each and every one of the Final Report’s numerous recommendations are deeply flawed. After all, these experts have publicly called on the premier and health minister to dismiss all of the findings, conclusions and recommendations in a 269-page report.

Sadly, the substantive contents of the doctors’ letter take up only two pages. The authors assert that the mRNA COVID-19 vaccine is very safe and very effective. They denounce ivermectin as ineffective and dangerous. They added footnotes and sources for their claims.

This letter does rise to a higher scientific standard than the AMA statement, by making some specific assertions and citing 29 sources. However, the doctors’ open letter relies primarily on appealing to various government bodies and global health authorities, as though science consists of submitting to consensus. A true scientific response would require a thorough analysis and review of the Final Report, providing Smith with specific feedback as to which of the numerous findings and recommendations should be rejected, and why they should be rejected.

While the medical doctors and the one Mount Royal University political science professor who endorsed the letter to Smith want to be seen as “scientists,” their letter inaccurately claims that the Final Report called for the complete halting of the mRNA vaccine. In fact, the Final Report only recommends that children not be injected, and that adults be fully informed about mRNA risks. Based on their highly misleading claim, the letter’s signatories go on to make the ridiculous accusation that the Final Report is somehow guilty of “impeding access to vaccination,” undermining “personal choice,” and violating “the principles of public health.”

In summary, the two-page letter briefly touches on ivermectin and the mRNA vaccine, topics to which about 50 pages were devoted in the Final Report. The doctors’ letter says nothing about the many other topics in the remaining 210+ pages of the Final Report. Yet these doctors expect Smith to dismiss the Final Report in its entirety, based on their cursory, superficial criticisms of only two topics.

This is pure arrogance, not science.

Like the AMA’s 64-word statement, this two-page letter to Smith argues as follows: we are the majority, we hold positions of authority, those who disagree with us should be dismissed as “fringe,” and there is no need for us to look seriously at evidence or to engage in scientific debate. The authors seem to believe that the government’s response to COVID-19 was perfect, and that we have nothing to learn about doing better the next time a virus arrives.

Hopefully, these doctors will have a change of heart, and take the time to read the Final Report and respond thoughtfully to all its findings and recommendations. That would be the scientific approach, one that would benefit all of society.

"Hopefully, Canada's new national fentanyl czar is focused on stopping fentanyl instead of promoting it," he said.

One of the conditions Prime Minister Justin Trudeau agreed to in order to get President Donald Trump to delay the implementation of tariffs for 30 days was the appointment of a "fentanyl czar" in Canada.

BC Conservative leader John Rustad has since pointed out, however, that British Columbia already has a "fentanyl czar" — Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry.

"British Columbia already has a fentanyl czar," Rustad wrote in a post on X. Her name is Doctor Bonnie Henry, and she is focused on promoting fentanyl use in BC. Hopefully, Canada's new national fentanyl czar is focused on stopping fentanyl instead of promoting it."

Many users were quick to share screenshots of things Henry has said on the topic of fentanyl. In early 2024, for example, she backed a report suggesting drug users would benefit from smokable fentanyl. The province eventually decided not to follow her recommendations, rejecting the report.

Following the government's rejection, the BC Conservatives called on Premier David Eby to remove Henry from her position. Continue...

Editor’s Note:

In a critical development in U.S.-Canada relations, the Trump administration has required that Canada implement concrete measures, including a U.S.-Canada Organized Crime Strike Force and the appointment of a Fentanyl Czar to combat fentanyl trafficking and money laundering linked to Chinese transnational organized crime and Mexican cartels operating from Canada.

As part of our coverage, The Bureau is reposting an August 2023 report in which Vancouver-area Mayor Brad West revealed details of his discussions with then-Secretary of State Antony Blinken about Canada’s vulnerabilities and legal loopholes. Continue...

How Canada’s premiers reacted to the one-month tariff pause

https://tnc.news/2025/02/04/canadas-premiers-reacted-month-tariff-pause/

Premiers across Canada breathed a collective sigh of relief after President Donald Trump delayed 25% tariffs on Canadian products for a month after a final hour negotiation with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, which saw Ottawa agree to bolstered border defences and drug enforcement.

Canada’s one-month pause mirrors the reprieve Mexico received after the country made similar concessions to Trump.

RCMP says fentanyl labs expanding across BC

https://tnc.news/2025/02/05/rcmp-fentanyl-labs-expanding-bc/

Fentanyl “super labs” are popping up across British Columbia as organized crime groups seek to take advantage of the opioid crisis, warns the RCMP.

Historically Canada has been overlooked when it comes to the production and trafficking of fentanyl but with U.S. President Donald Trump’s demand for the Canadian government to clamp down on the deadly drug, the issue is receiving more attention.

Although China and Mexico remain the primary sources of fentanyl and the synthetic opioid’s precursors, criminal organizations in Canada are shifting towards producing the drug domestically and even exporting the substance.

RCMP Cpl. Arash Seyed called attention to the issue at a recent press conference.

“We have the world’s most sophisticated drug super labs,” said Seyed.

“They’re expanding. They’re increasing in size and sophistication. And that’s something that obviously concerning for our neighbours.”

In recent months, U.S. President Donald Trump has been threatening Canada with severe tariffs, justifying the trade policy by pointing to fentanyl inflows to the United States coming from Canada. Continue...

Edmonton bans knife sales in convenience stores to enhance public safety

https://tnc.news/2025/02/05/edmonton-bans-knife-sales-convenience-stores/

As knife-related crimes have increased in Edmonton while other weapon-related offences have declined, the city has passed a bylaw prohibiting the sale of knives in convenience stores, an idea previously floated in the spring.

Edmonton City Council announced on Tuesday that it had passed a bylaw prohibiting the sale of knives in convenience stores to bolster community safety and respond to the concerns of local business owners.

The bylaw establishes a new distinction for convenience stores and a category and definition of knives that cannot be sold there. A knife is defined as any item with a blade affixed to a handle.

“The creation of a separate category for convenience stores will help limit convenient or impulsive access to knives,” reads the report.

The City of Edmonton’s website has a lengthy definition of convenience stores, where they are defined as businesses generally 350 square metres or less that sell a limited selection of fast-moving consumer goods.

The city confirmed that the everyday purchase of cutlery will remain unaffected. Continue...

Trudeau announces economic summit in Toronto to boost economy, domestic trade

https://tnc.news/2025/02/05/trudeau-economic-summit-tor-domestic-trade/

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced plans to host an economic summit in Toronto attended by members of the Council on Canada-U.S. Relations to “galvanize business and investment” across the country.

“The Canada-U.S. Economic Summit is Team Canada at its best,” wrote Trudeau in a statement released Wednesday. “We are bringing together partners across business, civil society, and organized labour to find ways to galvanize our economy, create more jobs and bigger paycheques, make it easier to build and trade within our borders, and diversify export markets.”

The Toronto summit takes place on Friday, hosting members of the council along with trade leaders, business executives and public policy experts to offer “their sectoral expertise” on how to expand Canada’s economy.

“We want businesses, investors, and workers to choose Canada,” said Trudeau.

Additionally, the summit will seek to find easier means to create “trade within the country, diversify export markets, and rejuvenate productivity.”

Over $530 billion worth of goods and services moved across provincial and territorial borders last year, accounting for almost 20 per cent of Canada’s gross domestic product. Continue...

Wilkinson makes pitch for Canada-U.S. “energy alliance” amid tariff reprieve

https://tnc.news/2025/02/05/wilkinson-canada-us-energy-alliance-reprieve/

Energy and Natural Resources Minister Jonathan Wilkinson travelled to Washington this week to pitch a “U.S.-Canada alliance on energy and minerals” to Republicans “rather than go down a path that will inevitably be lose-lose.”

“As a sovereign democratic nation that must protect its own national interests, the unwarranted imposition of tariffs on Canada would necessarily necessitate a response,” said Wilkinson during his keynote address at an event organized by the Atlantic Council in Washington on Tuesday.

“But this kind of damage to our economies is truly unnecessary and it is ultimately the people of our respective countries who will pay the costs.”

Wilkinson suggested in place of punitive cross-border tariffs, Canada and the U.S. could form an “energy alliance” that would allow both countries to “achieve our shared vision of affordable energy bills for families, strong and secure economies and North America as the world’s dominant energy supplier.”

“That is why our focus is to move beyond this conversation to one about collaboration on the border, on the scourge of illegal drugs, on our economy and certainly on energy and critical minerals,” he said.

While billions of dollars of trade between the two nations is conducted daily, the energy sector is clearly the most dominant area of these dealings, with the bulk of energy being exported to the U.S. from Canada.

Alternative suppliers of Canadian exports — potash, for instance – are often problematic countries like Russia or China. Continue...

Canada Is A Failed State

https://www.truth11.com/canada-is-a-failed-state/

We’d be lucky to be the 51st State.

25% tariffs will [would] ruin us. The tariffs mean one million small businesses – all which sell to the U.S. – will contract and many will close their doors. And then Trump, as he promised the unions, will pull “our” auto industry. Then we’re done.

Who is to blame for this?

The following is going to be crude because Canada is so boring (that’s deliberate) that no one cares. There are a thousand ultra-complex rationales on why Canada is failing and all they do is obfuscate. I’m not pulling punches, softening rhetoric – it is bad. It is urgent. This is the death of something that 75 years ago was shining, sunlit, exciting. That country? That country was killed by the Laurentian elite, weak, cosplaying Marxism to stay in power, themselves outwitted by investment bankers who plan to steal everything not nailed down. In so doing new elements were forcibly injected into the population: envy, resentment of the successful, sloth, the refusal to grow up, be strong and independent. We effectively sit on top of the U.S., seething with envy, in wet diapers.

We are a broken country. Everyone who understands the world knows this. The only people who don’t are deluded Canadian socialists, which is to say our entire elite and all our “knowledge class”. Dissent is ignored. Or jailed.

Central banker Mark Carney, WEFer paramount, is being parachuted into the Liberal party in order to sell us off to the investment banks who will harvest us for our resources. Our people? Future serfs in Special Enterprise Zones. We already have the regulation in place. No taxes, no worker rights, no enviro controls, no self-determination, no agency, no freedom. Time frame? Ten years, twenty at the outside. The inevitable end of hard-core socialism. Continue...

On January 31, Lisa Hepfner, Trudeau’s Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Women and Gender Equality and Youth, announced '$41.5 million for 106 projects across four different 2SLGBTQI+ funds.'

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s Liberal government is using its final days to promise $41.5 million in taxpayer funds to advance 106 pro-LGBT projects “across Canada.”

On January 31, Lisa Hepfner, Trudeau’s Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Women and Gender Equality and Youth, announced “$41.5 million for 106 projects across four different 2SLGBTQI+ funds.”

“This funding will advance equality for 2SLGBTQI+ communities across Canada and address the rise in hate,” the government claimed in a press release.

The government said the money will help “build and sustain resilience of 2SLGBTQI+ communities against hate and discrimination,” with the funds coming as part of Canada’s Action Plan on Combatting Hate that was launched in the fall of 2024 and follows Trudeau’s Federal 2SLGBTQI+ Action Plan, which is in its third year of operation.

People’s Party of Canada leader Maxime Bernier blasted the funding, noting how spending money while the country is in a “major economic crisis” shows how “Liberal nutcases” are “wasting” taxpayer money on “woke activists.”

“As Canada is on the verge of a major economic crisis, these Liberal nutcases are wasting another $41M on woke activists and mentally ill people who identify as one of the 52 genders. Unbelievable,” Bernier wrote Saturday on X in response to Hepfner’s X post about the funding. Continue...

Murder of US Border Patrol agent linked to bizarre ‘antifascist trans terror cult’

https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/murder-of-us-border-patrol-agent-linked-to-bizarre-antifascist-trans-terror-cult/

As in other recent mass killings by transgender individuals, the bizarre behavior and extreme violence and murders by the Zizian ‘trans terror cult’ raises questions about the role of opposite sex hormones treatment.

A complex cross-country story, mostly ignored by corporate media, has been exposed by investigative journalist Andy Ngo who has shown that a series of murders from coast to coast are likely connected to members of a bizarre “radical leftist trans militant cult.”

On January 20, Border Patrol Agent David Maland was shot to death during what started out as a routine traffic stop near the Canadian border in Vermont. That was the event that triggered the release of the research Ngo had collected concerning the “Ziz” cult.

An infographic included with Ngo’s excellent reporting for the New York Post provides the easiest means for understanding the who, what, when, and where of this convoluted story; a story where it’s difficult to ascertain even the sexes of the major players, and even more difficult to divine their motives. Ngo literally connected the dots for his readers.

Each of the Zizian cult members are reported to be highly educated, identify as transgender or non-binary, and have chosen to live on the fringes of society while building an arsenal of weapons for a not-yet-understood purpose.

Ngo also described the group as “highly educated trans vegan ‘rationalists’ who hold fringe, esoteric ideological beliefs about transhumanism and animal rights.”

It appears the Zizians had been preparing to incite terror, and were not above murdering anyone who they perceived as standing in their way. Continue...

Trudeau government claims digital ID system would remain ‘optional’

https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/trudeau-government-claims-digital-id-system-would-remain-optional/

A briefing note from Trudeau's cabinet dated October 2024 touts a digital ID system as 'safer' but insists that it will remain 'optional' for Canadians once rolled out.

A briefing note from members of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s cabinet claims that a national digital ID system is “easier” and “more securer” than traditional identification, but insists it will remain “optional.”

According to Blacklock’s Reporter, an October 30, 2024 briefing note titled Digital Credentials Issue And Verify Request For Information, said that “Digital credentials support a quicker, easier, safer, more secure and more cost effective way to access services digitally,” and that their implementation “would allow the Government of Canada to offer the use of digital credentials on an optional basis”

The contents of the briefing note come after federal regulators previously disclosed they are working on digital credentials for Canadians despite the fact MPs have repeatedly rejected the proposal over safety concerns, as reported by LifeSiteNews.

Shared Services Canada, a federal IT department, is developing “digital credentials” for things like Social Insurance Numbers, the Canadian equivalent of America’s Social Services number, which one needs to work legally.

The October 30, 2024 note is dated just two days after Shared Services Canada had disclosed to contractors that it was “working to establish digital credentials” for the public. Continue...

A tale of two pipelines: Quebec reconsiders LNG, but not oil

https://www.westernstandard.news/alberta/a-tale-of-two-pipelines-quebec-reconsiders-lng-but-not-oil/61932

Just a day after categorically rejecting the Energy East oil pipeline, Quebec is now rethinking its stance on a liquefied natural gas (LNG) pipeline from Western Canada thanks to economic uncertainty and trade tensions with the US.

That’s because the government of Quebec Premier François Legault, which scrapped the LNG-Québec project in 2021 due to environmental concerns, is now signalling a willingness to reconsider it. Environment Minister Benoit Charette made it clear on Wednesday, however, that any revival would have to meet the “stringent environmental criteria” that led to its rejection in the first place.

“We’re not opposed to energy products that respect the environmental criteria,” Charette told reporters at the National Assembly. He also warned that if the project remains unchanged, the decision to reject it would stand. Continue...

Carney, on the other hand, apparently believes discriminating based on appearance and sexual identity is what Canadians want — and even perpetuates the veneer that these programs are “inclusive” for all. Continue...

REPORT: USAID Funded Stanford University and Its “Internet Observatory” Project – The Same Censorship Group That Targeted The Gateway Pundit and Parler

https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2025/02/report-usaid-funded-stanford-university-its-internet-observatory/

Over the past years, many of us, this journalist included, have been completely wiped from major social media platforms that function as today’s digital public square.

Now we know that taxpayer money has been funneled to silence the American taxpayers. Let me tell you a story about the digital media platform Parler and how the USAID targeted them.

With that in mind, Parler and other platforms began providing us that freedom in the digital space. Parler in particular, founded in 2018 as a Twitter’esque alternative that respects ACTUAL free speech, was one of the earlier pioneers in this parallel economy for the exchange of ideas.

While it achieved some early success and showed signs of growing to tens of millions of followers over the course of the next few years, they too became victims of Orwellian attacks from hacktivist groups that have spent years doxxing, debanking, harassing, and stifling anyone to the right of Karl Marx.

In the days following the events of January 6th, that we now know was fomented by federal informants and allowed to continue by Nancy Pelosi and the DC Mayor’s failure to take President Trump’s concerns about security seriously, a leftwing hacktivist breached Parler and leaked users personal data.

And then Apple and Google banned them from the App Store, with Amazon Web Services being the final nail in Parler’s coffin by canceling their hosting services.

BTW, Parler is back under new leadership and planning BIG THINGS in the coming weeks. Secured by the blockchain and free from censorship.

Now, this GP journalist has learned that the Stanford Internet Observatory, a group that received funding from the National Science Foundation, which is in partnership and receives funds from USAID, published a report on how they “took down” Parler.

The GP has been involved in a lawsuit against the SIO with Trump advisor Stephen Miller’s America First legal, because of their role in censoring vital COVID-19 vaccine and 2020 election information. Continue...

Russia Has (By Far) The World's Largest Icebreaker Fleet

https://www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/russia-has-far-worlds-largest-icebreaker-fleet

Canada, the United States and Finland announced a new trilateral partnership called the "ICE Pact" (or Icebreaker Collaboration Effort) in July, 2024, stating that they would jointly build a fleet of as many as 90 icebreakers in the next years.

Icebreakers are used for several purposes including scientific missions.

However, as Statista's Anna Fleck notes, investments in the ICE Pact are also considered to fall under defence and security, with Canadian authorities citing the shipbuilding as a move to assert "Arctic sovereignty".

Data compiled by the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) and published by Reuters details how Russia had 57 icebreakers and ice-capable patrol ships in 2022.

This was more than any other single country at the time.

When combined (including the new additions of Sweden and Finland), the NATO alliance had 47 icebreakers as of 2022.

China had two icebreakers in 2022 and has since added a third to its fleet, with a fourth polar research icebreaker expected to be delivered in 2025.

P.E.I. councillor, sanctioned for “Mass graves: Hoax” lawn sign, seeks court review

https://tnc.news/2025/02/06/pei-councillor-sanctioned-mass-graves-hoax/

A Canadian civil liberties organization announced it would be representing a beleaguered municipal councillor at the Supreme Court of Prince Edward Island in an attempt to reverse sanctions over a controversial sign he posted outside of his home.

The Canadian Constitution Foundation (CCF) will be at the provincial Supreme Court on Thursday to argue for a judicial review of a decision which sanctioned the councillor for the “Mass graves: Hoax” sign.

John Robertson, a councillor in Murray Harbour P.E.I., has been sanctioned by the province and municipality after some in his community were offended by his use of a signboard on his property.

Robertson placed a sign on his lawn displaying a message that was critical of the false narrative that hundreds of bodies were discovered in supposed unmarked graves at a residential school in Kamloops, B.C.

During Canada’s “Truth and Reconciliation Day” weekend in September 2023, Robertson wrote out a controversial message on the sign in hopes of sparking a conversation around what he viewed to be a hoax perpetrated by legacy media.

“Truth: Mass Grave Hoax. Reconciliation: Redeem Sir John A’s Integrity,” the sign said. Continue...

Canada reports first trade surplus since February, $708 million in December

https://tnc.news/2025/02/06/canada-first-trade-surplus-since-february/

For the first time in ten months, Statistics Canada is reporting a trade surplus with the rest of the world, exporting more than it imported in December.

According to a Statistics Canada report for December, Canada’s merchandise exports increased by 4.9 per cent, and its imports increased by 2.3 per cent from November.

This change brought Canada’s trade balance of physical goods with the rest of the world from a $986 million deficit in November to a $708 million surplus in December.

The same month reported a 0.8-per-cent increase in service exports to $18.1 billion. Canada also saw a 1.2-per-cent decrease in service imports bringing the value of imports to $18.2 billion.

When combining international trade in goods and services Canadian exports rose 4.1 per cent to $87.6 billion in December, and imports increased 1.6 per cent to $86.9 billion.

This flipped Canada’s $1.4 billion total trade deficit with the world in November to a $641 million surplus in December.

U.S. President Donald Trump has noted Canada’s apparent trade deficit with the U.S. and has called for Ottawa to balance the books with the U.S. during talks of tariffs against Canada. Continue...

Trade minister confirms supply management concessions are off the table

https://tnc.news/2025/02/06/supply-management-concessions-off-the-table/

International Trade Minister Mary Ng said the federal government will not be making concessions on supply management amid its ongoing turbulent relationship with the Trump administration regarding tariff threats.

Ng made the comments during an interview with CTV’s Power Play host Vassy Kapelos while discussing a variety of trade issues now faced by the country in the wake of President Trump’s inauguration.

Canada was granted a one-month reprieve from Trump’s 25-per-cent tariffs on all Canadian imports after a series of negotiations took place Monday between Trump and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Given the current uncertainty around cross-border trade, Kapelos poked Ng about whether the federal government had any intention of moving the goalposts on supply management such as allowing U.S. dairy producers access to Canadian markets.

The Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement is up for renegotiation next year and Ng responded by saying that when CUSMA was negotiated in 2018, so was the dairy sector.

“This agreement negotiated by President Trump was touted as one that worked for the Americans, worked for Canadians and worked for Mexicans,” said Ng. “Supply management was very much a part of those negotiations on a balance of a whole bunch of things.”

According to Ng, the Americans have “absolutely taken advantage of the dispute settlement system that is a part of our trade agreement.” Continue...

Trump admin to put 100 'environmental justice' EPA workers on leave: report

https://thepostmillennial.com/trump-admin-to-put-100-environmental-justice-epa-workers-on-leave-report

The Trump administration is set to put over 100 employees from the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) environmental justice and civil rights office on leave, according to the Wall Street Journal. The action is connected to President Donald Trump’s executive order to cut back on the scope of government with regard to DEI programs.

The changes are expected to begin this week and could take place as soon as Thursday, and are part of Trump’s executive order to cut DEI and “environmental justice” programs. Employees in other EPA divisions may also be impacted by the move.

While employees on administrative leave continue to receive salary and benefits, they can only be placed on leave for 10 days per calendar year, according to Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility. After 10 days, it's unclear what will happen.

Staffers at the EPA’s environmental justice office were informed that the agency is compiling a list of those working on climate change projects. During the Biden administration, the office at the EPA had around 200 employees and the agency got billions of dollars to spend on climate change projects as a result of the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).

The IRA also included funds for so-called, “environmental justice,” where the Biden administration used targeted health programs meant to treat pollution exposure for lower-income and minority communities.

Republicans have called the office and “environmental justice” programs into question, saying that the programs have unclear goals and may not actually benefit lower-income communities.

Supporter of “environmental justice” Michelle Roos, the executive director of the Environmental Protection Network, called the cuts to the programs a “witch hunt” and said that more people will suffer because communities may not get access to clean water and air. An EPA spokesperson said the agency is “working to diligently implement President Trump’s executive orders” with regard to DEI.

Ford warns of ‘unresolvable’ hurdles for EV pickups and SUVs amid tariff uncertainty, huge losses

https://www.westernstandard.news/business/ford-warns-of-unresolvable-hurdles-for-ev-pickups-and-suvs-amid-tariff-uncertainty-huge-losses/61977

“Unresolvable.”

That’s how Ford’s CEO described the challenges of mass marketing a large scale pickup truck or SUV in the present electric car market — even as the Big 3 automaker braces for billions more in losses, primarily in its electric division.

“For larger retail, electric utilities, the economics are unresolvable,” Jim Farley said on a conference call. “These customers have very demanding use cases for an electric vehicle. They tow, they go off-road, they take long road trips. These vehicles have worse aerodynamics and they’re very heavy, which means very large and expensive batteries.”

The company’s Model-e division, which focuses on battery-electric vehicles, is projected to lose as much as USD$5.5 billion in 2025, exceeding last year’s record $5.1 billion loss.

Overall, the carmaker only sold 105,000 electric cars last year compared to almost 5 million various gas powered vehicles in its consumer and commercial divisions. It had previously planned to sell about 600,000 EVs annually by 2025.

Farley offered a stark assessment of the economic feasibility of large electric SUVs and trucks, warning that the high costs of massive battery packs make them an unviable business case for most retail customers.

Apart from the fact that buyers just don’t want them. Continue...

Massive Outage Hits Major Canadian Banks, Disrupting Online Banking for Many

Today, Canada’s banking system took a severe hit as all major banks—TD Bank, Scotiabank, CIBC, and RBC—crashed. This unexpected event left millions of customers unable to access their online banking services, disrupting daily financial transactions across the nation.

The digital disruption peaked between 5 PM and 6 PM EST the previous day, with complaints about inaccessible accounts continuing into today. Banking activities such as checking balances, making transfers, and paying bills were suddenly halted, leaving many in a state of financial uncertainty.

TD Bank acknowledged the issue and assured clients that technical support teams were engaged to resolve the problem. The bank has not yet provided a detailed explanation for the outage or an estimated timeline for service restoration.

This isn’t the first time these banks have faced such challenges. A similar incident occurred back in February 2022, where customers were left without online access for hours, impacting not just digital banking but also ATM functionality.

The immediate fallout has been stories of frustration - from shoppers unable to pay at stores to drivers stranded at gas stations. This event underscores our heavy reliance on digital banking infrastructure and the chaos that ensues when it fails.

Hudson Bay trade route gains momentum as Canada seeks to bypass US tariffs

https://www.westernstandard.news/alberta/hudson-bay-trade-route-gains-momentum-as-canada-seeks-to-bypass-us-tariffs/61969

Amid rising trade tensions with the US, the federal and Manitoba governments are pouring millions of dollars into establishing the Hudson’s Bay as a viable alternative trade route to president Donal Trump’s tariff threats.

On Monday, the Manitoba government committed $36.4 million to upgrade infrastructure at the Arctic Gateway Group (AGG)-operated Port of Churchill, while the federal government pledged $43 million to support operations and maintenance of the Hudson Bay Railway.

The announcements are part of a broader strategy to reduce reliance on US trade routes, particularly as Washington ramps up protectionist policies.

That’s because Churchill is presently the world’s only deep water Arctic port. A full-blown Hudson Bay corridor could eventually become a vital gateway for Canadian commodities, including critical minerals, fertilizer, and even oil and natural gas, to reach global markets without relying on the US.
