The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and one of its offices have released a new tool that lets people see the levels of contaminants in various foods, such as fruits and vegetables.

The tool is an online searchable database that lists contaminant levels. Unveiled on March 20, it lets users filter by contaminant type as well as food category, with examples including milk, pistachios, and bananas.

“HHS is committed to radical transparency to give Americans authentic, informed consent about what they are eating,” Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said in a statement.

Global crackdown on Kidflix, a major child sexual exploitation platform with almost two million users

The Europol-supported operation led to 79 arrests and 1 400 identifications

A total of 1.8 million users worldwide logged on to the platform between April 2022 and March 2025. On 11 March 2025, the server, which contained around 72 000 videos at the time, was seized by German and Dutch authorities.

The investigation resulted in the identification of almost 1 400 suspects worldwide. So far, 79 of these individuals have been arrested for sharing and distributing child sexual abuse material (CSAM). Some of those arrested not only uploaded and watched videos but also abused children. The investigation is ongoing.

Results of Operation Stream

The investigation started in 2022 and resulted in action weeks from 10 to 23 March 2025. So far, it has led to the following outcomes:

1,393 suspects identified

79 suspects arrested

Over 3,000 electronic devices seized

39 children protected

Over 91 000 CSAM videos

Kidflix was created in 2021 by a cybercriminal who made a huge profit from it, as it quickly became one of the most popular platforms among paedophiles. According to authorities, 91 000 unique videos were uploaded and shared on the platform while it was active, with a total running time of 6 288 hours. On average, around 3.5 new videos were uploaded to the platform every hour, many of which were previously unknown to law enforcement.

Unlike other known platforms of this kind, Kidflix not only enabled users to download CSAM but also to stream video files. Users made payments using cryptocurrencies, which were subsequently converted into tokens. By uploading CSAM, verifying video titles and descriptions and assigning categories to videos, offenders could earn tokens, which were then used to view content. Each video was uploaded in multiple versions – low, medium and high quality – allowing criminals to preview the content and pay a fee to unlock higher quality versions.

Operation Stream has been the largest operation ever handled by Europol’s experts in fighting child sexual exploitation, and one of the biggest cases supported by the law enforcement agency in recent years.

What happened yesterday to "health" bureaucracies was a veritable MIRACLE so far as government is concerned. It ranks up there as the largest single day of job cuts from the civil service in US history. It was glorious. Inconceivable. Brilliant.

And you know what?

No one seems to care!

Not one news story that I saw linked anything that happened yesterday to the Covid outrage from five years ago when the whole country was locked up pending a jab that cost millions in job losses and two years of lost education from a whole generation, and countless old people dying alone with only Zoom funerals.

Not one media outlet has drawn some kind of link between what happened then and what is happening now. It's like we are supposed to pretend like that period of totalitarian rule never happened and then feign total ignorance concerning why RFK and others are doing here.

Meanwhile, not even the fans of the reformers can bring themselves to praise what happened. Too shy? Afraid to get pushback on X? The peanut gallery has proven itself pretty darn feckless, if you ask me.

The lesson: there is no glory in cutting government or punishing wrongdoers. All they get is a big "so what" from all quarters.

It's rather disgusting overall. It must be demoralizing for those who have worked 18 hour days, 7 days a week, for months to plan this great moment. They weren't doing this for the money but rather to do what is right. No other reason.

Do we understand just how rare it is to see something like this happen in government? It's been 100 years or so since we've seen anything like real and focussed efforts to clean up the cesspool.

Not even Reagan could do more than offer sweet speeches. These guys have actually performed.

All they get in return is indifference even from those who once cheered them on.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree creating a new state agency tasked with enhancing immigration governance.The Citizenship and Foreign Nationals Registration Service will operate as part of the Interior Ministry.

“As a result, there was often no current data on the status and movements of foreign nationals, and their departure from the country was not enforced,” he said. “In 1,500 cases,prosecutors have taken legal action to overturn fraudulent grounds used to legalize migrants.”

Russia adopted stricter migration laws following a foreign-organized terrorist attack on a concert venue outside Moscow in March 2024, which claimed 145 lives and left over 550 injured.

The number of foreign nationals expelled from Russia reached 190,000 last year, nearly a third more than in 2023, according to Interior Ministry data. The number of foreigners deported from the country due to law violations jumped by 45%.

Christine Grady, a top bioethicist at the National Institutes of Health and the wife of former top NIH official Anthony Fauci, was among the health bureaucrats who received a layoff notice on Tuesday, according to news reports.

Grady was given the boot as part of the post-pandemic restructuring of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), according to the New York Times and STAT News. HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and his top aides have said the layoffs are aimed at consolidating administrative functions and overhauling a failed status quo in Americans’ health.

Some NIH leaders were given the option of transferring to one of the field offices of the Indian Health Service in Alaska, Montana, Minnesota, and other locations far removed from Washington, DC. But it’s not clear whether Grady was among the officials given the option of taking up a remote post hundreds of miles from the couple’s tony Beltway neighborhood. The couple had a net worth of $11.5 million by the time of Fauci’s 2022 retirement, according to federal disclosures, a $7.6 million jump from before the COVID-19 pandemic, according to Open The Books.

Even an NIH official who described Grady as well respected acknowledged that her marriage to Fauci impacted the ability of the institutes to tackle ethical questions that risked reflecting poorly on the former White House medical advisor.

An NIH official speaking on the condition of anonymity told the Daily Caller News Foundation that Grady was “a good person with a major conflict of interest.”

“One of the problems when the coverup was going on of the Wuhan lab leak, that whole fiasco, was that they were not listening to anyone giving ethics advice,” the official said. “If they had had someone at the table with knowledge of this, they would have said: ‘Hey do you want to play it this way, or be more transparent?’ Someone could have raised the question.”

“That’s something Christine Grady could have, or should have, done,” the official continued. “She wasn’t able to do it because she was Fauci’s wife.”

“Maybe they had discussions in private about what was going on,” the official said. “She was placed in a conflicted role because of that.”

Other NIH officials in Fauci’s inner circle were also let go.

Clifford Lane, who had worked at Fauci’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) since 1991 — most recently as deputy director of clinical research and special projects — was also let go, according to the New York Times.

NIAID Division of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases Director Emily Erbelding has also been let go, according to Government Executive. Erbelding was involved in communications with Fauci and with EcoHealth Alliance President Peter Daszak about the connection between the NIAID and high-risk virology in Wuhan, China, in 2020 according to emails obtained by U.S. Right to Know through the Freedom of Information Act and a congressional investigation.

Emailed requests for comment to Grady, Lane and Erbelding received no immediate response. A phone call to the NIH Department of Ethics was answered but abruptly ended when the receptionist learned this reporter was calling.

Anthony Fauci is having a terrible day after the Trump Administration started cleaning house at the United States Department of Health and Human Services.

As The New York Times reported, the Trump administration on Tuesday laid off thousands of federal health workers as part of cuts announced last week. The firings included several senior leaders and government scientists.

The bloodbath also included entire units focused on promoting ‘reproductive health’ (abortion), and gun control. How refreshing that American tax dollars will no longer fund baby killing and Second Amendment restrictions at the agency.

As TGP readers may know, the HHS has been conducting mass layoffs across the department, affecting roughly 10,000 full-time jobs. According to NBC News, these cuts are part of HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s plan to drain the swamp and reshape the agency.

RFK Jr. is working with Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and wants to reduce the health department’s workforce from 82,000 to 62,000.

TGP readers will be especially thrilled to learn that two of Tuesday’s casualties were Fauci’s wife, Christine Grady, and Dr. Clifford Lane from their positions at N.I.H.

Grady headed the N.I.H. Office of Bioethics before being ‘reassigned.’ Lane oversaw clinical research at the department and is considered a close crony of Fauci’s.

At N.I.H., several institute directors — including Dr. Jeanne Marrazzo, head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, the institute formerly led by Dr. Anthony S. Fauci — were reassigned. So were Dr. Fauci’s wife, Christine Grady, the head of the N.I.H. Office of Bioethics, and Dr. Clifford Lane, a close ally of Dr. Fauci’s who oversaw clinical research.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Grady was every bit as loathsome as her husband. Below is a video of her ‘offering’ nurses an immoral ‘choice’: get vaccinated or lose your job.

Virginia Giuffre, who settled a sexual abuse case against Prince Andrew in 2022, denied violating a family violence restraining order granted to her estranged husband before her recent accident.

Virginia Giuffre is sharing her side of the story.

The 41-year-old—an alleged victim of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein who settled her sex abuse case against Prince Andrew out of court in 2022 after he denied any wrongdoing—has been accused of breaching a family violence restraining order with a hearing set for April 9, per records obtained by E! News.

However, Virginia denied violating a restraining order recently taken out by her estranged husband Robert Giuffre.

A rep for Virginia—who recently said she has days to live due as a result of complications from injuries sustained in a car accident—told E! News in a statement April 2, "Virginia looks forward to defending herself against his malicious claim."

Virginia's rep went on to share that she's worried about her and Robert’s three teenage children during her hospitalization, adding, "Virginia continues to be hospitalized in serious condition."

E! News has reached out to Robert for comment and hasn’t heard back.

While details of the incident that led to the restraining order remain unclear, People reported that the mother of three first appeared in court March 19 for allegedly breaching the order and didn't enter a plea.

She had previously hinted at her family's estrangement on social media when expressing how much she missed her children.

"My beautiful babies have no clue how much I love them and they’re being poisoned with lies," Virginia captioned a March 22 carousel post featuring photos of her kids. "I miss them so very much. I have been through hell & back in my 41 years but this is incredibly hurting me worse than anything else."

"Hurt me, abuse me but don’t take my babies," she added. "My heart is shattered and every day that passes my sadness only deepens."

A little over a week later, Virginia revealed she had been in a car accident and was given four days to live after going into renal failure. And in the post she expressed her hope of seeing her kids again.

"I’m ready to go, just not until I see my babies one last time," she said on Instagram March 30 after sharing that she'd been given four days to live, "but you know what they say about wishes. S-T in one hand and wish in the other & I guarantee it’s still going to be s**t at the end of the day."

In her statement to E! News, Virginia's rep thanked "everyone for the outpouring of love and support" Virginia received after sharing her post and revealed a few more details about the March 24 crash, which she said involved Virginia's car being hit by a school bus full of children.

"Virginia was banged up and bruised and returned home," the rep's April 1 statement to E! News said. "Virginia's condition worsened and she was admitted to the hospital."

She also revealed that Virginia never intended to share the post publicly.

"Concerning her Instagram post," her rep added, "Virginia thought that she had posted on her private Facebook page."

Four Republican senators helped Democrats pass a resolution Wednesday that would effectively repeal President Trump's tariffs on Canada.

The resolution, offered by Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.), would repeal the emergency declaration that allowed Trump to place tariffs on Canada. The White House has cited fentanyl flowing across the border as a reason for the declaration.

But the measure is likely dead on arrival in the GOP-controlled House.

Republicans. Susan Collins (Maine), Mitch McConnell (Ky.) Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) and Rand Paul (Ky.) joined Democrats in voting for the measure, which passed 51-48.

Fireworks erupted Tuesday between Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) when the Texas Republican dared to tell the truth about Democrats’ scheme to sabotage President Trump’s agenda and called them “the party of murderers and r*pists,” sending a Senate hearing off the rails.

As Fox News reported, the Senate Judiciary Committee held a hearing on Wednesday to investigate the influx of nationwide injunctions against the Trump administration by activist district judges and to explore potential solutions to the crisis. This came one day after the House held its own hearing on the subject.

During the Senate hearing, an angry Cruz went off on the Democrats for their undemocratic efforts to overturn the results of the 2024 presidential election by forum shopping for the most radical district judges in America.

“Democrats today HATE Democracy,” Cruz said. “Democrats today are angry at the voters for re-electing Donald Trump…And they engaged in lawfare to stop democracy from operating.”

“Now that their efforts to indict President Trump and stop voters from re-electing him have failed, they are going out to seek radical judges to shut down policies.”

Cruz then had choice words for Democrats while continuing to go off on the blatantly unconstitutional nationwide injunctions these ‘judges’ have been using.

“U.S. law says there is no judicial review, but they (Democrats) found a judge that says ‘hey We, the Democrat Party, we are the party of illegal aliens,” he continued.” We are the party of murderers and r*pists and gang members in your communities. There’s a reason the Democrat party is at 26% approval nationwide because they put radical policies ahead of rule of law.”

“Nationwide injunctions are an abuse of power…It is incumbent upon this committee and this body to rein in the abuse of power from these unelected radical judges who are trying to overturn the election!”

Sen. Ashley Moody (R-FL) tried to regain order.

Klobuchar did not like hearing the brutal truth about her party’s scheme and what it really stood for. She responded by trying to gaslight the committee.

At first, she remained calm while doing so.

“We love democracy, and I think we should be having a civil debate on how if Donald Trump wants to make changes to the government, we should be doing it in a legal way, not how he’s doing it,” she lied.

Then Klobuchar flashed her infamous temper.

“And the only reason why there’s all these INJUNCTIONS is because (Trump’s) violating the Constitution,” she fumed. “Why would TRUMP-appointed judges…

“Why don’t you file them (lawsuits) in red districts?” Cruz shot back. “Why are Democrats seeking out left-wing loons…”

At this moment, Senator Ashley Moody (R-FL) intervened to try to stop the argument but to no avail.

“What did you just say?!” Klobuchar asked Cruz.

“Why don’t you file them in red districts? Why are the Democratic attorneys general seeking out left-wing…” Cruz began before Moody called a “point of order” and told Klobuchar to resume her time.

GOP senators plan to bypass parliamentarian to extend Trump's 2017 tax cuts

The parliamentarian is a tool that is often used in the Senate by the majority party under a process called budget reconciliation which allows them to avert a filibuster.

Senate Republicans led by South Carolina's Lindsey Graham are reportedly set to bypass the Senate parliamentarian and her expected ruling this week on whether they can use a legislative process – known as budget reconciliation – to pass President Trump’s 2017 tax cuts.

The process can be used only if such an initiative doesn't increase the federal deficit. Parliamentarian Elizabeth MacDonough has yet to decide, so the GOP is forging ahead, in an apparent effort not to appear to be overruling her.

Graham, as Senate Budget Committee chairman, has determined, based on "scoring" the budget resolution, which includes Trump's tax extensions, that it does increase the deficit.

“We think the law is very clear, and ultimately the budget committee chairman makes that determination,” Senate Republican leader John Thune said Tuesday.

The South Dakota lawmaker also argued Graham has the authority to decide whether extending the tax cuts would add to the deficit and need for them to be offset by big spending cuts or revenue-raising proposals, according to The Hill newspaper.

Still, Senate Republicans' biggest procedural concern is whether they can project their impact on future deficits by scoring them as “current policy.”

If extending the 2017 cuts is found to be an extension of current policy, then they won’t be counted as officially adding to future deficits, which would allow Republicans to extend the tax cuts permanently, also according to The Hill.

Democrats are planning to request that the parliamentarian rule that the GOP must use current law baseline to estimate the cost of the tax cuts.

"Republicans are so hell-bent on giving these tax breaks to the billionaires that they’re willing to break any rules, norms and things they promised they wouldn’t do,” Senate Democrat leader Chuck Schumer said.

Treasury Department sanctions alleged network of people helping secure weapons for Houthis

The network has procured tens of millions of dollars’ worth of commodities from Russia, including weapons, and stolen Ukrainian grain. The goods are then shipped to Yemen, which is under Houthi control.

The Treasury Department on Wednesday announced new sanctions on an alleged network of financial facilitators, procurement operatives, and companies that are helping to secure weapons for Houthi terrorists.

The network has allegedly helped the Iranian-backed Houthi official Sa’id al-Jamal. It has procured tens of millions of dollars’ worth of commodities from Russia, including weapons and stolen Ukrainian grain. The goods are then shipped to the Houthis in Yemen.

“The Houthis remain reliant on Sa’id al-Jamal and his network to procure critical goods to supply the group’s terrorist war machine,” Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said in a statement. “Today’s action underscores our commitment to degrading the Houthis’ ability to threaten the region through their destabilizing activities.”

The Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control has also identified at least eight digital asset wallets that are used by the Houthis to transfer money associated with the network and its activities around.

“The United States is committed to eliminating the Iran-backed Houthis’ capabilities and resources to conduct attacks on our servicemembers and naval assets, while ending their ability to threaten the security of the United States and our partners,” State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce said in a statement.

The U.S. has designated the Houthis, which has disrupted shipping in the Red Sea amid the Israel-Hamas conflict, as a Foreign Terrorist Organization.

Massachusetts Democrat Elizabeth Warren accused of exploiting California wildfire victims

Conservative critics are slamming Sen. Elizabeth Warren for setting up a fundraiser for communities affected by the devastating California wildfires on a platform affiliated with the Democratic Party.

Warren posted a link to her fundraising page on her social media accounts on Saturday, asking her followers to “split a donation between the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation and United Way of Greater Los Angeles.”

The Democratic senator added: “100% of your donation will go directly to these organizations.”

The link directs users to a page on ActBlue, a platform viewed as a major source for Democratic fundraising. Republican attorneys general and critics have long pressed for probes of the platform.

A “Warren For Senate” logo appears at the top of the page.

Warren’s X post received a community note – a tool that allows platform users to “add context to potentially misleading posts” – that states: “This is not a link to charity. It is a link to a Democrat fundraising platform. They take 3.95% of all transactions. You can donate directly to these charities.”

The note included links to the Los Angeles County Fire Department Foundation and the United Way of Greater Los Angeles.

Act Blue confirmed the 3.95% processing fee, but said the money it generated paid for processing contributions. “No funds from AB Charities processing fees go to candidates.”

Conservative critics in Massachusetts joined thousands of others in accusing Warren of exploiting the wildfires for her own gain.

Cecilia Calabrese, the director of Mass For Trump in Region 3, posted that Warren’s activity could be something that the Federal Elections Commission “may want to investigate.

“Just when I think ‘my’ Senator can’t sink any lower she tries to loot well-meaning donors that want to help California fire victims,” Calabrese posted on X. “ActBlue is a Democrat fundraiser platform only. Shame on you, Senator, for pushing this scam!”

ActBlue’s pricing details indicate that the platform charges “a flat rate of 3.95% on each donation you receive to cover the processing cost.”

“Other than that, everything’s on us,” the pricing page states. “You’ll have access to all the ActBlue tools as well as customer service to help your team and your donors at no extra cost. No contracts, no surprises, no hidden fees. You can do the math.”

Chester Tam, a Massachusetts Republican National Convention delegate and vice chairman of operations and digital media for Trump in Massachusetts also took to social media, advising people to be wary of donating through Warren’s fundraiser.

“Donating through the Warren for Senate campaign site is the last thing you should do if you want to support efforts for the California fires,” he posted on X. “How much of that money do you think will end up benefitting Warren’s campaign? Once again Democrats exploit a disaster for their own gain.”

Over the past few months, Republican attorneys general have slammed ActBlue, demanding probes into the platform while accusing it of potentially improper activity, including failing to vet donations properly, according to reports.

The New York Post reported in October that the Treasury Department “found records of hundreds of transactions linked to Democratic fundraising platform ActBlue that have been flagged by banks as potentially suspicious, according to a congressional memo” the newspaper obtained.

In December, 142 consultants, campaign staff, nonprofit staff, technology vendors, donor organizers, donors, and academics from across the country wrote a joint letter to ActBlue executive leadership, demanding the company do a “better job” protecting Democratic contributors, news site Campaigns and Elections reported.

“ActBlue is a safe and secure platform trusted for decades by valued donors and partners,” a platform spokesperson told the site, “and we are continuously adapting our platform as technology, fundraising, and donor and campaign needs change.”

One X user responded to Warren’s call for donations, stating: “Do not use ActBlue to donate. Donate to local, grassroots that are on the ground and getting supplies to victims in real time.”

US adding second aircraft carrier in Middle East

The United States is increasing the number of aircraft carriers deployed in the Middle East to two, keeping one that is already there and sending another from the Indo-Pacific, the Pentagon said Tuesday.

The announcement comes as US forces hammer Yemen's Huthi rebels with near-daily air strikes in a campaign aimed at ending the threat they pose to civilian shipping and military vessels in the region.

The Carl Vinson will join the Harry S. Truman in the Middle East "to continue promoting regional stability, deter aggression, and protect the free flow of commerce in the region," Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell said in a statement.

"To complement the CENTCOM maritime posture, the secretary also ordered the deployment of additional squadrons and other air assets that will further reinforce our defensive air-support capabilities," Parnell said, referring to the US military command responsible for the region.

"The United States and its partners remain committed to regional security in the CENTCOM (area of responsibility) and are prepared to respond to any state or non-state actor seeking to broaden or escalate conflict in the region," he added.

The Huthis began targeting shipping in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden after the start of the Gaza war in 2023, claiming solidarity with Palestinians.

Huthi attacks have prevented ships from passing through the Suez Canal, a vital route that normally carries about 12 percent of world shipping traffic. Ongoing attacks are forcing many companies into a costly detour around the tip of southern Africa.

A day before the carrier announcement, US President Donald Trump vowed that strikes on Yemen's Huthis would continue until they are no longer a threat to shipping.

"The choice for the Huthis is clear: Stop shooting at US ships, and we will stop shooting at you. Otherwise, we have only just begun, and the real pain is yet to come, for both the Huthis and their sponsors in Iran," Trump said on his Truth Social platform.

Trump added that the Huthis had been "decimated" by "relentless" strikes since March 15, saying that US forces "hit them every day and night - Harder and harder."

On Wednesday, the Huthis accused the United States of killing four people in fresh air strikes on Hodeida province.

The US president has also ramped up rhetoric towards Tehran, threatening that "there will be bombing" if Iran does not reach a deal on its nuclear program.

Satellite images seen by AFP showed that Washington had between March 26 and Wednesday doubled the number of B-2 bombers at a US-UK military base in the Indian Ocean, from three to six.

The photos from imaging company Planet Labs PBC also showed the presence of six Stratotanker in-flight refuelling aircraft at the Diego Garcia base, within range of Iran.

Trump's threats come as his administration battles a scandal over the accidental leak of a secret group chat by senior security officials on the Yemen strikes.

The Atlantic magazine revealed last week that its editor a well-known US journalist was inadvertently included in a chat on the commercially available Signal app where top officials were discussing the strikes.

The officials, including Trump's National Security Advisor Mike Waltz and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, discussed details of air strike timings and intelligence - unaware that the highly sensitive information was being simultaneously read by a member of the media.

‘Biblical flooding’ hits Greek islands.

Several Greek holiday islands have been devastated by floods after severe rainstorms turned roads into raging rivers and swept vehicles away.

Two of Greece's most popular tourist destinations, Paros and Mykonos, have been left submerged in murky waters after what has been described as 'biblical disaster' rainfall lashed through the islands on Monday.

Dark skies loomed overhead and heavy rain quickly turned the streets into torrents, with footage showing cars being swept away in the deluge.

According to local reports, for several hours, driving through main roads in Paros was impossible as streams swelled and floodwater surged through the streets.

The extreme weather conditions made it difficult for rescue teams to access hard-hit areas, prompting authorities to advise residents to stay indoors as the rain was described as 'dangerous' and 'out of control'.

Schools have been closed throughout the island, and officials on Paros yesterday said 13 people stranded in the storm were taken by firefighters to their homes, adding that no-one has been reported injured or missing.

A few hours later, Mykonos was hit with the same 'extreme' rainfall and hail, causing similar chaos to the scenes in Paros.

Footage from the island has shown roads flooded in brown water as cars and debris float past buildings also submerged in the torrents.

An emergency weather warning from the Hellenic Meteorological Service was put in place Monday, but remains in effect as the horror weather is set to continue throughout the day with the Ionian Islands, mainland regions, Macedonia, Thrace, the Aegean Sea, and Attica all set to be pummelled.

According to the meteorological service, the heavy rain and flooding will also move towards the Sporades, Thessaly, the Dodecanese and Crete.

The country's National Meteorological Service has issued an updated Emergency Weather Bulletin, forecasting locally severe rain and thunderstorms from Tuesday through until Wednesday morning.

Meteorologist George Tsatraphyllias told Protothema: 'In a few hours, approximately the entire month’s water fell on Paros and twice the amount of water that falls in the whole of March on Mykonos'.

He warned that the weather is so severe that sending notifications to residents via 112 would not be enough to effectively protect the population.

'112 alone is not enough when people are untrained in dealing with natural disasters, especially when there is no appropriate infrastructure adapted to the new reality,' he told the Greek newspaper.

Video footage from the islands have shown masses of water coursing through the streets of once-idyllic holiday towns and completely sweeping over cars, dragging them away from where they were parked.

In one clip, cars were seen wading through inches of muddy rainwater that had flooded streets.

Fast-flowing water coursed through the streets, with horrified onlookers watching from vantage points.

Several wrecked cars were seen tossed aside by the raging waters, with massive frontal damage on many of them.

Emergency workers were seen struggling to get the vehicles from the flooded streets, using large tractors to pull them from low, water-filled points.

Paros Mayor Kostas Bizas, speaking on local media yesterday, confirmed the severity of the situation: 'The rain started around 3 p.m. and hasn't let up. We've had drivers trapped on roads near Lefkes and the Parikia-Naoussa axis.'

On Mykonos, where the flooding was less intense, excavators were used to clear a path for floodwater and it gushed past seafront cafes and restaurants.

Municipal crews and private contractors worked to clear roads blocked by fallen rocks, while emergency services rescued stranded motorists.

Other nearby islands in the Cyclades group, which is south east of the mainland in the Aegean Sea, remain under severe weather warnings.

Just east of Los Angeles sits one of the wealthiest cities in America, yet hardly anyone has ever heard of it.

That's by design, since the millionaires and billionaires that live within the town limits don't want anyone knowing about their enclave in the San Gabriel Valley, an area that has a bustling population of around 2 million.

Despite what they might have you believe, Bradbury, California, does in fact exist, though it would be a rather boring visit for the average Joe.

There's no shopping to speak of and there are barely any sidewalks to stroll on. Bradbury is almost entirely comprised of gated sub communities and homeowners associations, SFGate reported.

If you don't already have a friend that lives there, it's not wise to go up to someone's house looking to make some. That's because the town has an ordinance banning people from walking up to front doors and knocking without permission.

And since its founding in 1957, a time when the suburbs were expanding in Southern California, Bradbury and the residents who live there have said they don't even want cars passing by to stop for even the briefest moment, urging them to keep driving.

The town is so locked down that most of the public roads that abut its borders are dead ends or run straight into tall, guarded gates with signs that read 'Royal Oaks' and 'Bradbury Estates.'

The landscaping also does quite a bit to send the message that outsiders aren't welcome, with most homes being shrouded by towering hedgerows and bushy trees.

Bradbury’s 91008 ZIP code, which it shares with the nearby city of Duarte, has the 11th highest average income in California, beating out the likes of Santa Monica, Encino and the coveted 90210 of Beverly Hills.

Beyond the security checkpoints and the foliage lie giant mansions with beautiful pools and neatly manicured lawns. And since they're on private roads, Google street-view stalking isn't an option to get a glimpse.

So, ordinary folks have to resort to luxury real estate listings if they want to get a better idea of Bradbury.

Take for example the former home of real estate tycoon Don Abbey, one he had built for himself initially before he listed it in 2012 for $78.8 million.

The 35,000-square-foot property - across its main house and pool house - is a glimmering white masterpiece that sits on a hill, giving it breathtaking ocean views, according to an old listing.

It isn't a normal mansion, as it has a 2,000-bottle wine cellar, a poker room, and 10 car garage. It also has a massive pool shaped like a cross and a shooting range that Lucy Liu used to frequent, Forbes reported.

With all those perks and more, it sold for $22.5 million in December 2022, according to the Los Angeles County Assessor.

Slightly to the west is the home of Hieu Tai Tran, the owner of the Shun Fat Supermarket chain, which has stores in California, Texas, Nevada and Oregon.

The property has four waterfalls, a tennis court, and a water slide the empties into a pool out on the front lawn.

The most notable recent resident of Bradbury was Lynsi Synder, the owner of In-N-Out. He lived in a 19,000-square-foot home for years before he sold it in 2022.

Though there are plenty of mega-mansions, there are also more modest properties that appeal still to high-net-worth individuals but not billionaires. The median listing price for a home in Bradbury is $3.5 million.

The townsfolk have such deep pockets that former Vice President Kamala Harris visited a mansion in Bradbury to fundraise for Joe Biden ahead of his disaster of a debate with Donald Trump.

She did so for good reason. Biden was the first Democratic presidential candidate since 1964 to win Bradbury, getting a majority of the vote there in 2020.

The town also has a myriad of other draconian ordinances meant to curb any sort of behavior that could be a bother to the residents.

A section on 'peddlers and solicitors' that states that 'no person shall go upon any private premises within the City for the purpose of selling any goods, wares, merchandise, services or other thing of value.'

The city code also says 'no person shall be in any private house or on any private premises in the City in a state of drunkenness or intoxication to the annoyance of any other person.'

Even profane language is not allowed on any public streets or businesses open to the public.

To cut down even more on possible commotion, teens under 18 cannot be out in public during a school day unless they're with a parent, have a note from the school or are on their way to a job.

But for the most part, Bradbury keeps its unique form of social cohesion intact by letting as few people in as possible.

The law firm that employs Doug Emhoff, former Vice President Kamala Harris’s husband, has learned that it is among the next firms that Mr. Trump plans to use his power to punish, according to four people briefed on the matter.

The firm, Willkie Farr & Gallagher, also employs a top investigator for the congressional committee that documented President Trump’s role in the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol, and a litigator who spearheaded a lawsuit that two Georgia election workers brought against Rudolph W. Giuliani. Mr. Giuliani was found in that case to have defamed the women as he tried to help Mr. Trump overturn his defeat in the 2020 presidential election, and was ordered to pay the women $148 million.

Mr. Trump has issued executive orders targeting other law firms that employ people he sees as hostile to him, and it was unclear how Willkie planned to respond to such an action.

Two other firms hit with executive orders have agreed to deals with Mr. Trump in exchange for him rescinding or heading off the orders, drawing criticism from those who see them as capitulating to strong-arm tactics by the president. Three other firms that have fought Mr. Trump’s orders in court have been quickly granted restraining orders.

The three judges who stepped in to put the orders on hold said that they were alarmed by them and concerned that they were unconstitutional. But Mr. Trump appears undeterred in his campaign to exact retribution from firms he views as enemies. The president has celebrated his effort, saying more firms are lining up to make deals with him.

The four people briefed on the discussions between the White House and the firm spoke on the condition of anonymity because they did not want to be identified discussing a matter that is supposed to remain confidential.

In January, a week after Mr. Trump was sworn in, Wilkie announced that it was hiring Mr. Emhoff.

In 2023, the firm had hired Tim Heaphy, who served as the chief investigative counsel on the House select committee that examined the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol. Mr. Heaphy conducted many of the committee’s important interviews and often sat directly behind lawmakers at the panel’s highly publicized hearings.

While the firm has ties to Mr. Trump’s perceived enemies, it represented Mr. Trump in the 1990s during one of his company’s bankruptcy proceedings. The firm also successfully helped Mr. Trump’s close ally, Thomas Barrack, win acquittal in a federal case in 2022, and it represents X, the social media platform owned by the presidential adviser Elon Musk.

Trump administration suspends several dozen grants to Princeton

The Trump administration has suspended several dozen research grants to Princeton, University President Christopher Eisgruber ’83 wrote in a campus-wide email on Tuesday. The grants were issued from several federal agencies, including the Department of Energy, NASA, and the Defense Department.

The exact amount in question and the reasoning for the pause itself are unclear, and Eisgruber acknowledged only the latter in his statement. But the Daily Caller, a right-wing news organization, reported last night that the government would halt $210 million in federal funding to Princeton due to an ongoing investigation of antisemitism on campus, citing an anonymous Trump official.

“Princeton University will comply with the law. We are committed to fighting antisemitism and all forms of discrimination, and we will cooperate with the government in combating antisemitism. Princeton will also vigorously defend academic freedom and the due process rights of this University,” Eisgruber’s email read. It also said that the University had been notified of the suspensions yesterday and today.

This pause comes on the heels of recent pauses or cuts to funding at Harvard, Penn, and Columbia. The government also announced yesterday that it would review more than $8 billion in grants at Harvard as part of a federal task force on antisemitism.

According to the Daily Caller, an administration official said that the funds would be paused while the Department of Education continues to investigate Princeton for allegations of antisemitism under Title VI. The investigation dates back to last April, when Zachary Marschall, the editor-in-chief of the conservative website Campus Reform, filed antisemitism complaints with the Department of Education against Princeton and at least a dozen other universities. Marschall does not have any Princeton affiliation.

Marschall’s complaint cites several instances of alleged antisemitism during the pro-Palestine protests of last year. The complaint includes, among other events, chants from an Oct. 25 walkout, including “Brick by brick, wall by wall, apartheid has got to fall” and calls for “intifada.”

The amount paused reported by the Daily Caller would represent nearly half of Princeton’s government funding pool. The University received $455 million in grants and contracts from government sources in the 2024 fiscal year.

Eisgruber has been unusually outspoken about the Trump administration’s threats to federal university funding, taking to the pages of the Atlantic earlier this month to criticize the cancellation of $400 million in grants to Columbia University. He reiterated the importance of academic freedom in a later interview to PBS and warned about making concessions to the government, saying that “once you make concessions once, it's hard not to make them again.”

Until now, Princeton had received less national scrutiny than many of its peer institutions, especially for its actions during the “Gaza Solidarity Encampment.” The University has not seen any significant high-level administrative turnover in the past year and a half, with Eisgruber being the second longest-serving president in the Ivy League.

But last week, the University announced it would freeze most faculty hiring and avoid staff growth, a sign that the University perceives that funding threats from the federal government could significantly disrupt its usual operations. The University has also spoken out against a substantially increased endowment tax floated by Trump administration officials, with Eisgruber arguing that such a move would be damaging in his State of the University letter in January.

In a rare statement yesterday directly from its board of directors, which Eisgruber chairs, the American Association of Universities (AAU) condemned the “withdrawal of research funding for reasons unrelated to research.” The statement did not address the case of any specific school, but the AAU broadly represents a coalition of 70 research universities.

“We urge the administration and Congress … to work through the established Department of Education and Department of Justice procedures for investigating allegations of discrimination,” the statement read. “Following these established procedures is the best way to ensure accountability by universities and to preserve our nation’s place as the global leader in science and innovation.”

Auto sales stronger than expected, GM is big winner

Several automakers including General Motors and Hyundai reported double-digit sales increases in the first three months of 2025 ahead of impending tariffs on auto imports.

GM sold 17 percent more vehicles year over year in the first quarter, while Hyundai and its Kia affiliate each registered increases of more than 10 percent. Honda and Nissan saw more than 5 percent growth from the first quarter of last year.

President Donald Trump last week announced he would apply 25 percent tariffs on imported vehicles and auto parts starting April 3. He had signaled during last year’s election campaign that he would seek tariffs on many goods.

Auto analysts believe the new tariffs will largely be passed through to consumers in the form of higher prices, adding thousands of dollars to what buyers pay at the dealership. About half of cars sold in the United States last year were imported, and even U.S.-made vehicles tend to contain a litany of foreign parts.

Not every automaker had a strong first quarter. Toyota’s sales barely budged, with just 1 percent growth year over year, and Ford’s unit sales fell 1.3 percent as it discontinued its Edge SUV for 2025.

But even those companies, along with their peers, saw strong growth in March, when Trump’s intentions for auto tariffs became clear.

March was a better-than-expected month for vehicle sales, but that boom probably will weigh on the auto industry’s performance in April, said Sam Fiorani, vice president for global vehicle forecasting at Pennsylvania-based AutoForecast Solutions.

Americans searching for a new car have reevaluated their time frame so far this year, and many visited dealerships in the past week as Trump’s tariff plans became clearer, Fiorani said in an email to The Washington Post. Still, he expects auto sales to drop by 3 percent in 2025 as tariffs drive up prices and reduce inventory, which will discourage buyers.

Even U.S.-made vehicles such as the Chevy Traverse are likely to see higher prices, Fiorani said, because some of their parts come from overseas.

“Dealers and vehicle manufacturers aren’t just going to keep their prices where they are because their costs didn’t go up,” Fiorani said. “Competition keeps pricing down and the lack of competition will allow everyone to raise prices.”

GM and Hyundai said they are working to ramp up production in the United States.

Randy Parker, chief executive of Hyundai Motor North America, hailed his company’s $21 billion investment in expanding its U.S. production through a “metaplant” near Savannah, Georgia.

“Our commitment to innovation and meeting consumer demand remains strong, and we continue to localize production and enhance our supply chain to help manage market conditions,” Parker said in a statement.

Experts warn that the new auto tariffs could contribute to a sharp slowdown later in the year, especially if interest rates on car loans remain high. But in the short term, a sort of automotive panic-buying is driving legacy automakers to new heights.

GM’s Chevrolet Trax SUV, which is produced in South Korea, saw sales jump 57 percent compared with the previous quarter, while sales of Chevy electric vehicles more than doubled. Hyundai’s hybrid vehicles gained 72 percent in March alone.

The Kia Carnival MPV, produced in Malaysia, gained 53 percent for the quarter. Kia, in a statement, said the final week of March was the strongest retail sales week so far this year. “Part of it may have been driven by customers trying to lock in the price of a vehicle they want to purchase,” the company said in a statement.

Honda acknowledged in a statement to The Post that there was some impact to the industry’s sales growth as a result of consumers getting ahead of the tariffs. But the company also touted its mix of gasoline-powered vehicles, hybrids and EVs.

Some European central banking and supervisory officials are questioning whether they can still rely on the U.S. Federal Reserve to provide dollar funding in times of market stress, six people familiar with the matter said, casting some doubt over what has been a bedrock of financial stability.

But the European officials have held informal discussions about this possibility – which Reuters is reporting for the first time – because their trust in the United States government has been shaken by some of the Trump administration’s policies.

President Donald Trump has made a sharp break from long-standing U.S. policy in several areas, such as appearing to endorse Russia’s position on Ukraine, raising questions about U.S. commitment to European security and imposing tariffs on its allies.

In some European forums where participants assess potential risks to the financial system, these officials have discussed scenarios under which the U.S. government might pressure the Fed to suspend the dollar backstops, two of the sources said.

Some officials have been gaming out whether they can find alternatives to the U.S. central bank, the two sources said. In times of market stress, the Fed has provided the European Central Bank and other major counterparts with access to dollar funding.

The takeaway from these discussions: there is no good substitute to the Fed, said the six sources, who include senior ECB and European Union banking supervisory staff with first-hand knowledge of the conversations.

The sources all requested anonymity to speak candidly about the private deliberations.

The ECB and the Fed declined to comment for this article. The White House did not respond to a request for comment.

The judge who this week blocked efforts by the CIA and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence to fire employees involved with divisive DEI programs previously helped kneecap one of special counsel John Durham’s cases tied to the Russia collusion hoax.

Judge Anthony Trenga, appointed to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia by President George W. Bush, blocked efforts by the CIA and the ODNI to terminate intelligence officers who had been tied to so-called “diversity, equity, and inclusion” efforts during the Biden administration.

That preliminary injunction requires the agencies to hear any "requested appeal from any decision to terminate him or her, consistent with the steps set forth in CIA Regulation 4-16, including to permit Plaintiffs to submit 'written comments' explaining why they should not be terminated, to provide Plaintiffs with a written notification of the Director’s decision, and to provide reasonable notice of the status of any pending appeal."

Trenga, the judge who also oversaw Durham’s case against the Russian-born Igor Danchenko, kneecapped the special counsel ahead of the October 2022 trial, including ruling that Durham could not use details from the FBI’s prior counterintelligence investigation into Danchenko. He was accused of being the main source for British ex-spy Christopher Steele’s debunked dossier. Trenga limited a host of other evidence Durham had sought to show the jury as well.

During the trial, Trenga dealt Durham's case another blow as he dismissed one of the false-statement charges brought against Danchenko, who was acquitted of all charges in October 2022. The Eastern District of Virginia is known for handling many national security cases, and Trenga has also been a member of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court since May 2020, and has been the presiding judge on the secretive court since May 2023.

Bodybuilder and actor Vittorio Pirbazari, who appeared on the Netflix series "Dogs of Berlin," has died at age 44.

Pirbazari's friend Said Ibraham was among the first of the bodybuilder's friends to confirm the news on Tuesday, April 1 in an Instagram video. Tributes to Pirbazari from family and friends have been pouring in since.

Ibraham, a director who met Pirbazari when they were working together on a film, said he was thrown "completely off track" when he received the "sad news" on Monday, March 31. He went on to wish Pirbazari's family and friends "a lot of strength" as they mourn him.

Another friend said he was "shocked and stunned" by the news and remembered Pirbazari as "simply a good person" in an emotional tribute on social media. "What a helpful and kind-hearted person you were...anyone who REALLY knew you will attest to that," the friend said of Pirbazari.

An official cause of death has not yet been made known, though Ibraham suggested in his video that Pirbazari had suffered a heart attack while he was at the gym.

On March 30, Pirbazari, who was a member of the popular YouTube group Hardgainer Crew, shared a health update in what would be his final post on Instagram.

"I haven't been able to pull much exercise for the last 3 months, but I worked hard on my diet," he said in the caption of a selfie.

A 26 hour old Moon poses behind the craggy outline of the Italian Dolomites in this twilight mountain and skyscape. The one second long exposure was captured near moonset on March 30. And while only a a sliver of its sunlit surface is visible, most of the Moon's disk can be seen by earthshine as light reflected from a bright planet Earth illuminates the lunar nearside. Also known as the Moon's ashen glow, a description of earthshine in terms of sunlight reflected by Earth's oceans illuminating the Moon's dark surface was written over 500 years ago by Leonardo da Vinci. Of course earthshine is just the most familiar example of planetshine, the faint illumination of the dark portion of a moon by light reflected from its planet.

An Alabama rocket is set to carry NASA's new mini space shuttle

An aerospace contractor that builds rockets here in Alabama is gearing up for a historic blastoff maybe next month.

United Launch Alliance is working with another company that wants to send a small version of NASA’s space shuttle on a resupply mission to the International Space Station. Here's more on the so- called Dream Chaser and how Alabama fits in…

Members of the press gathered at NASA's Kennedy Space Center back in May of 2021 the location was the shuttle landing facility that was the runway where the first ever commercial winged spacecraft would glide to a stop after each mission in orbit.

Former astronaut Janet Kavandi was on hand for the event.

“Four years I landed here all three times. So I love this place. It bring back, brings back such fond memories, and really can't get wait to get back here and the new vehicle, which you see behind us here.

This inflatable looks a lot like the real thing, only the real thing's a little bit bigger than that,” she said.

The inflatable behind Kavandi was a mock up of a vehicle from Sierra space where the former astronaut serves as president. This vehicle is called Dream Chaser.

It's a miniature version of NASA's Space Shuttle. This mini Space Shuttle has a big job. It will deliver up to 12,000 pounds of cargo to space to resupply the International Space Station.

Four years after this briefing at the Kennedy Space Center, Dream Chaser is being prepared for its first launch, but this launch couldn't happen until a critical question was answered.

“We had to go find a launch vehicle that was capable,” said Angie Wise, She's the Chief Safety Officer at Sierra space. Her company needed to find the right rocket to carry its mini space shuttle to orbit.

“So what we need is a couple of things, enough mass to orbit. When we're taking up 12,000 pounds of cargo plus the weight of the vehicle. We need something that can get that amount of mass into space,” Wise stated.

Sierra space found the rocket it needed in Decatur Alabama. The United Launch Alliance builds a type of rocket called Vulcan at its Decatur factory.

Wise says Vulcan was just what the doctor ordered to get Dream Chaser and its cargo to the International Space Station. ULA lost a recent contract to fly missions for the new branch of the US military called Space Force.

The deal went to SpaceX, which is run by Elon Musk wise, says that didn't change her company's mind about using the Vulcan.

“They have an amazing history, and we are even willing to go on those previous flights, even if it helps prove out so that they can take on more Space Force missions.

So if we need to be the proving ground, we have high confidence in it, and if it continues to help our the our government to go put more payloads in space, we think that's amazing too,” said Wise.

Not only will dream chaser launch on an Alabama built rocket, but it could land here too.

Sierra space worked out a deal with the Federal Aviation Administration and Huntsville International Airport to use the facility as a possible landing spot.

After Dream Chaser missions wise, says she has personal history with the Rocket City.

“I personally lived there for thirteen years, and so we know that that is an amazing opportunity to go into a location with the people who are just used to being around space hardware

“We are always open to looking for more space ports, because, again, it's really comes down for Mission Assurance.

More landing opportunities gives us a better opportunity to return whenever we want to return, or potentially bring cargo specifically to different locations.”

“It was just a cool vehicle, and it's going to do some great things in its future,” said John Elbon, ULA’s Chief Operating Officer at the 2021 press briefing at Kennedy Space Center, which marked the start of the first mission of Dream Chaser.

Elbon said the cargo resupply mission is just the beginning for the shuttle.

“It's been a huge motivation, inspiration for the people at United Launch Alliance to be a part of something new and exciting like that, a winged vehicle that's going to go to Space Station, deliver cargo, eventually deliver people, and then return here to the Kennedy Space Center,” he said.

Wise confirmed that Sierra space still has its eyes on Dream Chaser delivering humans to space in the future.

For now, all that matters to Alabama is a safe trip to orbit aboard its homemade Vulcan rocket, which could mean more business in the future for the ULA factory near Decatur.
