Bill Maher and Piers Morgan went toe-to-toe on tarrifs Friday night—that is, until the Real Time host abruptly cut off his colleague mid-sentence.

The panel, composed of Maher, Morgan, and Washington Post columnist Josh Rogin, had been discussing Trump’s trade war and the potential for a protracted conflict with China when the HBO host tired of the topic.

“This is boring, like I said tariffs are,” he declared, talking over Morgan.“You guys are boring.”

Maher had already lamented the fact that Trump’s actions had forced him to devote so much time to tariffs, opining, “Did I ever think I was going to be talking about tariffs every day? I really didn’t, I did not see that coming up, and it’s f—ing boring. I don’t like tariffs.”

He went on to characterize Trump’s actions in recent weeks as an attempt to bring back an era in U.S. history that is “gone with the wind,” citing the president’s unlikely goal of bringing manufacturing jobs back to America.

He then opened up the discussion to the panelists as to whether Trump had a point about the global trade status quo putting the U.S. at a disadvantage.

Rogin and Morgan debated the efficacy of Trump’s dizzying approach to trade policy, with Morgan describing Trump as a man who “doesn’t play by the rules” and “trusts his gut, which is often right.”

Morgan, who is British, added that in a trade war between the U.S. and China, he would back the U.S.

After his interjection, Maher changed the subject to the Trump Administration’s draconian deportation regime—which has already swept up legal residents by mistake and included green card holders accused not of criminal conduct, but of holding the wrong ideas.

In the recording, Nicklow speaks candidly with faculty and administrators about the need to modify language in public-facing documents and course catalogs to avoid becoming a target for state and federal defunding efforts. “We are going to do what we do, let’s not unnecessarily put a target on our back,” Nicklow furthered.

Nicklow described direct pressure from Governor Ron DeSantis’ administration, revealing, “These people are just looking for words, okay?” referencing how language about “gender expression” on a Title IX page drew attention from Gov. Desantis.

“If it then hits NSF [National Science Foundation], we lose millions of dollars,” he warned staff and educators, noting that the legislation extends to the university’s ability to secure federally funded research grants. “We are seeing specific projects being pulled… because they had the words in executive summary of ‘climate change.’” His recommendation: “If you word it as surveillance and defense, it will probably get funded.”

Nicklow didn’t hold back in his assessment of driving political efforts, stating, “They are not smart people,” adding, “They are simply searching, whatever comes back on [the] web, searching without understanding.”

Despite the warnings, Nicklow maintained support for educators, “You’re not going to get fired for teaching those [DEI] courses,” assuring faculty that the university’s General Counsel would back them if issues arose.

Nicklow recalled conversations with legislators, claiming, “They didn’t know that overhead keeps the lights on.” “I had frank conversations with our congressmen, and they had no idea,” he said.

When questioned about how to navigate the changing environment, he concluded: “Well, you don’t get to pick and choose which parts of diversity community you support and which you don't. My advice is, be mindful of words.”

Moon Near the Edge

Most of us watch the Moon at night. But the Moon spends nearly as many daylight hours above our horizon, though in bright daytime skies the lunar disk looks pale and can be a little harder to see. Of course in daytime skies the Moon also appears to cycle through its phases, shining by reflected sunlight as it orbits our fair planet. For daytime moonwatchers, the Moon is probably easier to spot when the visible sunlit portion of the lunar disk is large and waxing following first quarter or waning approaching its third quarter phase. And though it might look unusual, a daytime moon is often seen even in urban skies. Captured here in a telephoto snapshot taken on March 12, a waxing daytime Moon is aligned near the edge of a popular observation deck that overlooks New York City's borough of Manahattan.

NASA Jet Propulsion Lab Parts Ways With Top DEI Officer In Wake of Free Beacon Report

NASA’s jet propulsion laboratory has parted ways with its top diversity officer, Neela Rajendra, after the Washington Free Beacon reported that the lab had changed her title in an effort to keep her.

"Neela Rajendra is no longer working at [the Jet Propulsion Laboratory]," lab director Laurie Leshin said in an all-staff email on Thursday.

"We are incredibly grateful for the lasting impact she made to our organization. We wish her the very best."

Leshin added that the newly formed Office of Team Excellence and Employee Success—intended to replace the DEI team Rajendra had led—would be moved to the Office of Human Resources.

The staffing shakeup comes a week after the Free Beacon reported that Rajendra, who has argued that deadlines undermine inclusion, had not been among the 900 workers laid off by the lab in 2024 due to budget cuts.

Even after NASA axed its central diversity office in response to the Trump administration’s executive orders, the jet propulsion lab kept Rajendra on as the head of employee success, scrubbing "diversity" and "inclusion" from her title but keeping many of her duties the same.

The new office, for example, would continue to oversee "affinity groups," according to a March 10 email from the lab, including the Black Excellence Strategic Team, or "B.E.S.T."

News of Rajendra’s continued employment came after a pair of NASA astronauts were stranded for nine months on the International Space Station.

The debacle, which involved a faulty propulsion system, raised questions about whether the agency’s multimillion-dollar DEI budget had translated into safer spaceflight or more competent employees.

In a 2022 presentation, Rajendra criticized SpaceX’s "fast-paced" culture and "failure to promote DEI," linking those traits to the company’s high attrition rate.

Three years later, it was a SpaceX capsule that rescued the stranded astronauts.

The NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory did not respond to a request for comment.

Sols 4507-4508: “Just Keep Driving”

Earth planning date: Wednesday, April 9, 2025

Our drive from Monday’s plan was mostly successful, putting us ~22 meters down the “road” out of an expected 30 meters.

A steering command halted the drive a little short when we tried to turn-in-place but instead turned into a rock, which also had the effect of making our position too unstable for arm activities.

Oh well! APXS data has been showing the recent terrain as being pretty similar in composition, so the team isn’t complaining about trying again after another drive.

Plus, keeping the arm stowed should give us a little more power to play with in the coming sols (an ongoing struggle this Martian winter).

Recently, my job on Mastcam has been to make sure our science imaging is as concurrent as possible with required rover activities.

This strategy helps save rover awake time, AKA power consumption. Today we did a pretty good job with this, only increasing the total awake time by ~2 minutes even though we planned 52 images!

Our imaging today included a mosaic of the “Devil's Gate” ridge including some nodular bedrock and distant “Torote Bowl,” a mosaic of a close-by vein network named “Moonstone Beach,” and several sandy troughs surrounding the bedrock blocks we see here.

ChemCam is planning a LIBS raster on a vertical vein in our workspace named “Jackrabbit Flat,” and a distant RMI mosaic of “Condor Peak” (a butte to the north we’re losing view of).

Our drive will happen in the 1400 hour on the first sol, hopefully landing us successfully 53 meters further into this new valley on our way to the boxwork structures to the west!

Post-drive, we’re including a test of a “Post Traverse Autonav Terrain Observation” AKA PoTATO - an easy drop-in activity for ground analysis of a rover-built navigation map of our new terrain. Plus we get to say PoTATO a lot.

NASA-Developed Tools at Marshall Support Operations to Space Station

Two new automation tools developed at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama, are geared toward improving operations for flight controllers working with the International Space Station from the Huntsville Operations Support Center.

The tools, called AutoDump and Permanently Missing Intervals Checker, will free the flight control team to focus on situational awareness, anomaly response, and real-time coordination.

The space station experiences routine loss-of-signal periods based on communication coverage as the space station orbits the Earth.

When signal is lost, an onboard buffer records data that could not be downlinked during that period.

Following acquisition of signal, flight controllers previously had to send a command to downlink, or “dump,” the stored data.

The AutoDump tool streamlines a repetitive data downlinking command from flight controllers by detecting a routine loss-of-signal, and then autonomously sending the command to downlink data stored in the onboard buffer when the signal is acquired again.

Once the data has been downlinked, the tool will automatically make an entry in the console log to confirm the downlink took place.

“Reliably and quickly sending these dump commands is important to ensure that space station payload developers can operate from the most current data,” said Michael Zekoff, manager of Space Systems Operations at Marshall.

"As a direct result of this tool, we have eliminated the need to manually perform routine data dump commands by as much as 40% for normal operations."

AutoDump was successfully deployed on Feb. 4 in support of the orbiting laboratory.

The other tool, known as the Permanently Missing Intervals Checker, is another automated process coming online that will improve team efficiency.

Permanently missing intervals are gaps in the data stream where data can be lost due to a variety of reasons, including network fluctuations.

The missing intervals are generally short but are documented so the scientific community and other users have confirmation that the missing data is unable to be recovered.

“The process of checking for and documenting permanently missing intervals is challenging and incredibly time-consuming to make sure we capture all the payload impacts,” said Nathan Walkenhorst, a NASA contractor with Bailey Collaborative Solutions who serves as a flight controller specialist.

The checker will allow NASA to quickly gather and assess payload impacts, reduce disruptions to operations, and allow researchers to get better returns on their science investigations.

It is expected to be deployed later this year.

In addition to Walkenhorst, Zekoff also credited Ramon Pedoto, a software architect, and Tyrell Jemison, a NASA contractor and data management coordinator with Teledyne Brown Engineering Inc, for their work in developing the automation tools.

The development of the tools also requires coordination between flight control and software teams at Marshall, followed by extensive testing in both simulated and flight environments, including spacecraft operations, communications coverage, onboard anomalies, and other unexpected conditions.

“The team solicited broad review to ensure that the tool would integrate correctly with other station systems,” Zekoff said.

“Automated tools are evaluated carefully to prevent unintended commanding or other consequences.

Analysis of the tools included thorough characterization of the impacts, risk mitigation strategies, and approval by stakeholders across the International Space Station program.”

Crew Works on Spacesuits, Studies How Space Affects Breathing, Blood System

Spacesuit checks and breath and blood circulation studies wrapped up the week for the Expedition 72 crew aboard the International Space Station.

Meanwhile, three new crewmates are getting used to life in space while another trio is preparing to return to Earth.

NASA Flight Engineers Anne McClain and Nichole Ayers worked throughout Friday inside the Quest airlock installing display and control modules on a pair of spacesuits.

The liquid crystal electronics gear features controllers and displays the operational status of the spacesuit.

Next, NASA Flight Engineers Jonny Kim and Don Pettit reviewed procedures to ensure the spacesuits are ready to wear and the necessary suit hardware is installed.

Kim has been in space less than a week having arrived aboard the Soyuz MS-27 spacecraft on April 8 with Roscosmos cosmonauts Sergey Ryzhikov and Alexey Zubritsky.

The trio has been getting used to life in weightlessness, learning how to operate space station systems, and rapidly getting to work on standard maintenance and research tasks.

Kim spent a portion of Friday installing orbital plumbing gear and transferring fluids in the Tranquility module.

Ryzhikov and Zubritsky were back together at the end of the week working on two different space biology experiments.

The pair first explored how microgravity affects their breathing rate. Next, the two cosmonauts wore sensors on their forehead, fingers, and toes measuring how their blood circulates in space.

Pettit is turning his attention to his upcoming departure with station Commander Alexey Ovchinin and Flight Engineer Ivan Vagner who have been aboard the station since Sept. 11, 2024.

Pettit is gradually handing over his responsibilities to his new crewmates and spent a few moments on Friday training them how to use the advanced resistive exercise device.

Ovchinin and Vagner practiced on a computer the techniques they will use when they into Earth’s atmosphere inside the Soyuz MS-26 spacecraft.

The threesome will undock aboard the Soyuz from the Rassvet module and land in Kazakhstan on April 19 ending the Expedition 72 mission.

Pettit had spent the first part of Friday studying how water, liquid salt, and olive oil droplets transition from a frozen state to a liquid state in microgravity for a student experiment.

He then scanned JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency) astronaut Takuya Onishi’s neck, shoulder, and leg veins using the Ultrasound 2 device to understand how his body is adapting to space.

Ovchinin and Vagner also partnered with Roscosmos Flight Engineer Kirill Peskov and tested the lower body negative pressure suit that may pull body fluids toward the feet and prevent space-caused head and eye pressure.

The specialized suit may also help crews quickly readjust to Earth’s gravity after living in space for months or years at a time.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) issued an updated guidance late Friday night on product exclusions from President Trump's reciprocal tariffs, imposed under Executive Order 14257 and its amendments (EO 14259). The exclusions cover a wide range of electronic devices, including smartphones, laptops, and related components.

First, President Trump paused reciprocal tariffs for non-retaliating countries (e.g., China) for 90 days last week. Now, updated guidance from CBP reveals that some of the highest-value trade—particularly a wide range of electronics—is excluded from the reciprocal tariffs.

Among the 20 tariff codes listed for exemption, three stand out in particular:

8471 – Automatic data processing machines and units thereof (e.g., laptops, desktops, servers).

8517.13.00 – Smartphones and other telecommunication apparatus for cellular networks.

8542 – Electronic integrated circuits (e.g., microprocessors, memory chips).

Dignitaries including Emperor Naruhito and Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba attended the opening ceremony for the 2025 World Exposition in Osaka on Saturday, a day before the long-anticipated event opens its doors to the public.

The first world expo in Japan since the 2005 event in Aichi Prefecture, it is themed on "life" and ways to create a sustainable future society.

In total, 158 countries and regions are set to exhibit at the expo lasting for six months until Oct. 13.

Acts and entertainment at the opening ceremony held at the expo's Yumeshima venue in the western Japan city included breakdancing, a life-themed lights show and musical performances.

Crown Prince Fumihito, the expo's honorary president, and his wife, Crown Princess Kiko, also attended.

In his speech declaring the opening of the expo, Emperor Naruhito said he hopes it will be "an opportunity for the world to create a sustainable future."

Addressing the ceremony, Ishiba said the expo "provides a stage for the people of the world to come together and exchange dialogue," adding that it "will show the world a new Japan."

The final satellite in NOAA's GOES-R weather satellite series has a new place in orbit … and a new name.

The GOES-19 weather satellite, which launched into orbit in June 2024, has officially taken the place of its predecessor GOES-16 to watch over the Western Hemisphere from its perch 22,236 miles (35,785 kilometers) above us.

To mark the milestone, the satellite has the new name of GOES East to serve as the dominant geostationary satellite in the fleet, NOAA officials said in a statement.

"With GOES-19 now in operation, NOAA has delivered the full fleet of GOES-R satellites to orbit, providing the most sophisticated technology ever flown in space to help forecast weather on Earth," said Stephen Volz, assistant administrator for NOAA's Satellite and Information Service, in the statement.

"GOES-19 supports NOAA's mission to provide secure and timely access to global environmental data and information to promote and protect the nation's security, environment, economy and quality of life."

As GOES East, the satellite will be responsible for keeping a watchful eye on tropical development in the Atlantic Ocean, and monitor weather such as severe storms, wildfires, and atmospheric rivers.

Just like its siblings, GOES-19 is equipped with technology to produce high-resolution imagery, take measurements of the atmosphere, and track the location and intensity of lightning in real-time.

If that's not exciting enough for scientists, this satellite also hosts NOAA's first compact coronagraph instrument (CCOR-1), monitoring the sun's activity.

"CCOR-1 is a game-changer for ensuring our nation is resilient to solar storms, monitoring massive eruptions of energy from the sun in real time," Clinton Wallace, director of NOAA’s Space Weather Prediction Center, said in the statement.

"With dramatically improved resolution and faster detection, it helps us better predict dangerous space weather that can impact satellites, GPS, astronaut safety, aviation and power grids, ensuring we can protect critical technology and infrastructure like never before."

Former National Security Agency Director Mike Rogers told FBI agents that the crux of a Pulitzer Prize award-winning Washington Post story on the Russian collusion hoax was “wrong," according to newly declassified documents obtained by Just the News.

Admiral Rogers, who retired in 2018 after four years as National Security Agency chief and commander of U.S. Cyber Command, spoke with FBI agents and a key member of special counsel Robert Mueller’s team in June 2017, where he threw cold water on a May 2017 story by the Post titled, “Trump asked intelligence chiefs to push back against FBI collusion probe after Comey revealed its existence.”

It is not yet known whether the Post had been told prior to the May 2017 publishing of their story that Rogers was denying their characterization of his talk with Trump, but it is now known that Rogers was telling federal investigators in June 2017 that the story was bogus.

The Post story — now known to have been directly refuted by one of its main subjects the month after it published — would go on to be among the Russiagate stories published by the outlet to win a Pulitzer Prize in 2018. Trump is currently suing the Pulitzer Board for defamation for continuing to defend the awards it gave to this collusion-related story and numerous others. A Florida circuit court judge denied the Pulitzer Board’s motion to delay President Donald Trump’s defamation lawsuit against them on presidential immunity grounds.

The newly-released Rogers interview with the Mueller team shows that the then-NSA director was read a quote from The Washington Post article— that “President Trump urged [Rogers] to publicly deny the existence of any evidence of collusion during the 2016 election” — with the FBI notes stating that “Rogers responded that the media characterization was wrong, and the President had asked about the existence of SIGINT [signals intelligence] evidence only.”

The Rogers interview was among hundreds of pages of Crossfire Hurricane documents declassified by President Trump and sent to Congress by FBI Director Kash Patel.

The Pulitzer Prize Board's website said the 2018 Pulitzer Prize in National Reporting was awarded to the staffs of the Washington Post and New York Times “for deeply sourced, relentlessly reported coverage in the public interest that dramatically furthered the nation’s understanding of Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election and its connections to the Trump campaign, the President-elect’s transition team, and his eventual administration.”

Among the “Winning Works” was the story that Rogers directly refuted, listed by the Pulitzer Prize website with the title “President asked intelligence chiefs to deny collusion (Washington Post).”

The Pulitzer Prize Board and the Washington Postdid not immediately respond to requests for comment by Just the News about the 2017 story and the 2018 award, about whether they had known about the refutation by Rogers, and what their reaction was to this newly-declassified FBI interview by the ex-NSA chief.

Rogers spoke with FBI special agents and with Mueller team deputy special counsel Aaron Zebley on June 12, 2017, where Rogers recounted the phone call he had with Trump on March 26, 2017.

Rogers said he received a call around 1:00 or 1:30 PM saying Trump wanted to speak with him, so he went to his office and called Trump back at the White House. Rogers said he had his deputy, Richard Ledgett, listen in on the call.

Ledgett wrote up a memo of the call after it occurred, and both Ledgett and Rogers signed the memorialization of the conversation, with the FBI notes stating that “ADM Rogers explained he felt the memo appropriate because getting a call from the President on a Sunday afternoon is a little unusual and he assumes that whatever he does will become public at some point, so he wanted to make sure it was captured accurately.”

Rogers confirms falsity of news stories

The FBI interview notes show that Rogers’ refutation of the Washington Post story was based not just on his memory but also on the memo he had signed onto.

“ADM Rogers provided the memo to the interview team, and Deputy Special Counsel Zebley read the memo out loud line-by-line, asking ADM Rogers at various points to confirm the content… ADM Rogers affirmed the memo was a true and accurate reflection of the call,” the FBI notes say, with the NSA chief making his refutation based upon both his “recollection of the call and the memo.”

Rogers told the Mueller team that, during the call, “President Trump expressed frustration with the ongoing investigation into Russian interference, saying that it made relations with the Russians difficult.” Trump also “disagreed with definitive assertions that the Russians were responsible for the hacks and said it was impossible to tell who was actually responsible for the hacking” and “also said it was making it hard for him to deal with the Russians.”

Media characterization was wrong

The NSA chief said Trump asked Rogers what he thought. “ADM Rogers acknowledged it does make relations difficult, but then explained in detail, but at a high level, the intelligence supporting ADM Rogers' confidence, and the rest of the community's, that the Russians were behind the hacks. President Trump stated they would have to ‘agree to disagree’ on the matter,” the FBI notes state.

At least one line from Rogers’ remarks is then redacted, citing “OGA” or “Other Government Information” — meaning information from an unnamed U.S. intelligence agency.

“President Trump then asked ADM Rogers if he would say ‘that’ publicly. Rogers interpreted ‘that’ to mean [OGA],” the FBI notes state. “ADM Rogers told President Trump he could not do that, as he did not and could not discuss USPERS [U.S. persons] in unclassified settings. President Trump did not ask him to 'pushback' on the investigation itself, but he clearly did not agree with the assessment of Russian involvement. During the call, ADM Rogers said to President Trump, 'You want me to be truthful, right?' President Trump never suggested otherwise, but said he wanted to make sure there was no doubt about his involvement."

The FBI notes say that Rogers then proceeded to shoot down The Washington Post story: “The interviewing team read to ADM Rogers a quote from a media source that stated ‘President Trump urged [Rogers] to publicly deny the existence of any evidence of collusion during the 2016 election’ and ADM Rogers responded that the media characterization was wrong, and the President had asked about the existence of SIGINT [signals intelligence] evidence only.”

Rogers also detailed a meeting at the White House with Trump on April 13, 2017.

“Following the briefing, President Trump asked ADM Rogers to stay behind to have a private conversation. In that private conversation, the President repeated much of the same content discussed in the March 26, 2017 telephone call, but he didn't ask for anything or direct ADM Rogers to do anything,” the FBI notes state. “ADM Rogers described the conversation as President Trump ‘venting’ and recalled President Trump saying something like the ‘Russia thing has got to go away.’ He also recalled President Trump saying something similar to ‘I have done nothing wrong.’ ADM Rogers responded that the quickest and best way to make the investigation end is to make sure the investigation was done.”

The FBI notes state that “ADM Rogers closed by stating he believes the President truly believes the government will never really know who is responsible for the hacking incidents during the 2016 Presidential election and that he himself has done nothing wrong.”

The Washington Post article which Rogers shot down was authored by Adam Entous, now with the New York Times, and Ellen Nakashima, who is still with the Post.

Post claims it is "evidence"

The Post had reported in the story that “President Trump asked two of the nation’s top intelligence officials” — Rogers and now-ex Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats — “in March to help him push back against an FBI investigation into possible coordination between his campaign and the Russian government.” The outlet repeatedly cited anonymous sources, reporting that Trump appealed to Rogers and “urg[ed] [him] to publicly deny the existence of any evidence of collusion during the 2016 election.” The outlet said Rogers “refused to comply with the request” which he “deemed to be inappropriate.”

The Post claimed that its story, “add[ed] to a growing body of evidence that Trump sought to co-opt and then undermine Comey before he fired him” in May 2017.

The NSA reportedly declined to comment to the Post at the time, citing the ongoing Russian collusion investigation.

“The White House does not confirm or deny unsubstantiated claims based on illegal leaks from anonymous individuals,” a White House spokesman told the outlet at the time. “The president will continue to focus on his agenda that he was elected to pursue by the American people.

Police have issued a warning over drones flying over Durham City ahead of the King Charles and Queen Camilla visiting.

Durham Constabulary has issued an announcement that there will be a temporary restriction on drone flights will be in place over Durham City from 7am on Wednesday, April 16 to 7pm on Thursday, April 17.

King Charles and Queen Camilla are due to attend a Maundy Service at Durham Cathedral on Thursday, April 17, when they will meet specially invited guests and hand out Maundy money.

Durham County Council and Durham Constabulary are working closely with the cathedral to support the visit and ensure residents, visitors and businesses are able to make the most of the historic occasion.

The police force has issued the following advice regarding drone flights ahead of the royal visit:

No drones are allowed to fly within 1.5 nautical miles of Durham Cathedral, up to 1500 feet.

This restriction has been put in place by the Department for Transport for safety and security reasons.

Durham Police will be monitoring the area throughout the restriction period.

Drone enthusiasts have been warned by Durham Constabulary that flying a drone in the restricted area, 1.5 nautical miles of Durham Cathedral and up to 1500 feet, without police permission is an offence under Section 239(4) of the Air Navigation Order 2016.

There will also be a number of road closures, with all roads leading into and out of the peninsula area of the city closed to vehicular traffic from 6am to 3pm on the day of the visit.

Spectators will be able to gather on Palace Green and in the Market Place to get the best views of Their Majesties as their motorcade passes, but significant restrictions will be in place to ensure the safety of the expected crowds.

Mark Jackson, Durham County Council's head of transport and contract services, said: "The last Royal Maundy Service at Durham Cathedral took place almost 60 years ago, so this month's visit by The King and Queen promises to be a really special occasion.

"We are, therefore, expecting a lot of people in the city on the day of the visit, so would encourage people to plan ahead and allow plenty of time in order to make the most of the day."

Chief Inspector Stephanie Bird, of Durham Constabulary added: "We are looking forward to welcoming visitors to our wonderful city.

"Our officers will be on patrol throughout the event. It will be extremely busy so please plan your visit if you can. Please follow the directions and advice of our officers to help us keep everyone safe.

Team Trump declaring victory

A Pennsylvania judge was convicted of shooting her sleeping boyfriend in the head.

Sonya McKnight, a magisterial judge in Dauphin County, shot her sleeping boyfriend in the temple last February after the victim, Michael McCoy tried to end their relationship and told her to move out.

McCoy, who miraculously survived but is now blind in one eye, told police he woke up “with massive head pain” and couldn’t see. McKnight tried to convince him that he shot himself.

McKnight was convicted of attempted murder and aggravated assault on Wednesday.

This wasn’t the first time McKnight shot a romantic partner. She reportedly shot her ex-husband in the groin after an argument over furniture. She wasn’t charged for that shooting because she said she was acting in self-defense.

The Department of Education on Friday referred a Title IX investigation into Maine schools to the Justice Department after the state failed to reach a resolution with the Trump administration over a finding that it violated federal anti-discrimination law by allowing transgender students to participate in girls’ sports.

Estonia detained the Kiwala tanker, which was carrying oil cargo to Ust-Luga, to check documents. The vessel is under sanctions EU and UK. AIS data show that the border ship and the minesweeper of the Estonian Navy forced the tanker to turn off the route in neutral waters.

The Kiwala tanker was heading from the Indian port of Sika to the Russian port of Ust-Luga and did not reach the oil terminal 150 miles away. In the economic zone of Estonia in the Baltic Sea, which is neutral waters, the ship was detained by the Estonian Navy and Coast Guard. Judging by the AIS data of the vessels, the 244-meter sub-sanctioned tanker was forced to turn off the route for more than an hour.

"Early this morning, the naval forces detained the Kiwala oil tanker in the Gulf of Finland. The ship arrived from the port of Sika in India and headed east. Port of destination — Ust-Luga in Russia, "— said the commander of the Estonian Navy Ivo Vark, reports Rostimees.

"The ship is anchored in Muuga Bay. The purpose of the detention is to check the documents of the vessel and its legal status. The detention and the investigation are in no way related to damage to critical infrastructure, and the investigation will be conducted by the competent authorities on the ship," the Navy commander said.

According to him, there are suspicions that the vessel has neither a flag nor insurance. It is also under EU sanctions due to the transportation of Russian oil at a price above the limit set by the G7 and the EU.

The director of the maritime service of the Transport Department, Kristian Truu, said that technical inspections were being carried out on the ship.

"It is safe to say that the tanker is part of a shadow fleet that uses the Baltic Sea to transport prohibited goods. The same is with this tanker," said Veiko Kommusaara, Deputy Director General of the Estonian Police and Border Guard Department. — A vessel without a flag. Such vessels are not allowed to sail."

According to Dostimees, the operation to detain the tanker began at three o'clock in the morning on April 11.

"At 04.19 Kiwala entered the territorial waters of Estonia. The Police and Border Guard Department also used a helicopter during the operation. The tanker is currently anchored in Muuga Bay, east of Aena Island. There are 24 third-country nationals on board. The captain of the vessel is a Chinese citizen, the rest of the crew of the vessel are probably citizens of Myanmar. The ship's captain is ready to cooperate. The vessel will be detained until the technical deficiencies are eliminated," the Estonian edition writes.

Meta Has 100+ Ex-IDF on Staff

Meta's recruitment of vast numbers of former Israeli soldiers raises serious questions about the tech giant's commitment to free speech - and provides a peek into a biased content moderation process that's been heavily censoring pro-Palestinian accounts amid the Israeli siege of Gaza.

More than one hundred former Israeli spies and IDF soldiers work for tech giant Meta, including its head of AI policy, who served in the IDF under an Israeli government scheme that allows non-Israelis to volunteer for the Israeli army.

Shira Anderson, an American international rights lawyer, is Meta’s AI policy chief who voluntarily enlisted for the IDF in 2009 under a program which enables non-Israeli Jews who aren’t eligible for military conscription to join the Israeli army.

Through this program, known as Garin Tzabar, many non-Israelis who have fought for the IDF have been implicated in war crimes and crimes against humanity since Israel’s genocide of Gaza began in October 2023.

Anderson served as a non-commissioned officer in the IDF for over two years where she worked in the Military Strategic Information Section, writing dossiers and public relations propaganda for the IDF. She was also the liaison between the IDF and foreign military attaches stationed in Israel, and liaison to the Red Cross.

With AI a critical emerging technology for tech giants and militaries, Anderson’s role at Meta is an important one. She develops the legal guidance, policies and public relations talking points concerning AI issues and regulation for all of Meta’s key areas, including its product, public policy and government affairs teams.

At Meta, Anderson, who is based in Meta’s Washington DC office, is in familiar company. More than one hundred former Israeli spies and IDF soldiers are employed by the company, my new investigation shows, many of whom worked for Israel’s spy agency Unit 8200.

These ex-IDF members are based evenly across Meta’s US offices and in its Tel Aviv office, and a significant number of them, like Anderson, have a specialization in AI. Given that Israel has made extensive use of AI not just to conduct its genocide, but to establish its prior system of apartheid, surveillance and occupation, Meta’s recruiting of IDF AI specialists is particularly insidious. Did these former Israeli spies use their Unit 8200 connections to help the tech giant collaborate with the IDF to build kill lists? According to a report last year, Unit 8200 infiltrated WhatsApp groups and marked every name in a group for assassination if just one alleged Hamas member was also in the group, no matter the size or content of the group chat.

Things are again not what they seem, but you have to stand back to understand the right questions.

People have asked about the recent release of the declassified FBI documents (a partial release) and what they mean. Having spent years deep in the research, here’s my take.

At first blush people may say there’s nothing really there that we didn’t already know.I would differ on that perspective because the process is tellingus something very loudly, and the absence of material is shouting even louder.

Simple question: This stuff was declassified by President Trump and released by the FBI, correct? If so, then why isn’t the release simply uploaded to the FBI.Gov website. Why release it to congress and then leak it to John Solomon?

Read the underline. First things first. Explain to me exactly how these were “obtained.”Where did Solomon get them?

If it’s all on the up-and-up, and if it is simply an outcome of declassified material,then why is sourcing for the documents clouded in some weird mystery. Shouldn’t we know the process? Those of you who remember the FISA application release, will know why this process issue is important.

Next, the information is given to the founding member of the “Tick Tock” club.John Solomonhas singularlybeen responsible for more purposefully controlled information releases== than any other ‘conservative’ media rep for the Intel Community.

TheRussiagate files coming from Solomonshouldbe the first big “red flag” that causes pause.

Who game them to Solomon?(gave or game?) And again, why not just upload them to a .gov website (DNI, FBI or even HPSCI).

I suspect theintentionhere, the motive of the process, is to focus on the politics of the release, NOT the illegal nature of the conduct that is contained within the evidence the release outlines.They want the public focused on the “politics” not the “illegal surveillance” and unlawful conductthat underpins Russiagate.

Bottom line on theprocess aspect. This is acontrolled release of information. We are getting a few pieces of the puzzle affirmed, but thekey parts of the same picture are hidden. I will explain with an example in a moment.

Process matters, because the DC silo defense is partly contingent upon ‘process.’If the evidence is not discovered within a silo agency, that evidence is never considered by the DC system. It doesn’t matter if the evidence is accurate,if DC didn’t originate the evidence, it is disregarded= [See Durham Investigation for a case study in this].

In order to confront the illegal nature of the conduct behind Russiagate,the process used to discover and/or spotlight the unlawful behavior is critical. If DC can claim the process is political, DC -and by extension legal accountability- will stay away from it.

This does not meanwhoever leaked the files to John Solomon is the originator of the play to deploy politics, it could be the person behind the person who leaked the files to Solomon.

Who organized this stunt?Who sent the invitations to them? Was it Pam Bondi? If so, who suggested this ridiculous fiasco was a great idea to U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi? Start there, and you will begin to find the problem.

The same processissue fingerprints, evident in this FBI Russiagate file release, need to be known.Work backward from Solomon. Who gave the files to him; then, who suggested the Solomon process to that person?

Theselected source and process issues are only one element of the *tell* highlightingthis as acontrolled release of information, intended to satiate a generally unknowledgeable =audience. Another issue iswhat’s missing.

As an example, review the Wolfe file release [SEE HERE]. That is a singular FD-302 interview of the former Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, Security Director, James Wolfe.

We know from the Wolfe indictment that SSCI Security Director James Wolfe was interviewed by a female FBI investigator three times; once in October 2017, and twice in December 2017.The released 302 only cover one of those interviews, the one in October. The interview notes from December (two sets of 302s) are NOT in this release.

It was in the December interviews that Wolfe lied to investigators (first Dec interview), then when faced with evidence during the second December interview, he admitted his guilt. Those interview notes are not here.

Why only the first Wolfe interview released? Likely because the second and third round of questioning brought then Vice-Chair of the SSCI, Senator Mark Warner, into the picture.The absence of the December 302’s is the evidence of:(1) a coverup operation; and (2) a controlled release of information.

Remember, there is no doubt James Wolfe leaked the FISA application on March 17th to journalist Ali Watkins. The FBI even asserted under oath in a December 2018 court filing the FISA application was leaked by James Wolfe.

Where are the interview notesof James Wolfe that led to this statement of fact by the FBI investigator(s)?

I’m still going through the pages, pulling details from each one. However, on the topline issue of the release itself there are obvious indications this is a controlled release of information intended toprotect the people who weaponized their offices in Russiagate.

This doesn’t necessarily mean that Kash Patel and Dan Bongino are part of a controlled release operation. They could be completely overwhelmed in their jobs, struggling to get their hands around this rogue silo, and easily duped by the people within the agency they have been appointed to lead.

Hell, beyond the process mess, I would argue Bongino and Patel likely don’t even know what they could be looking for; let alone knowing where the evidence is and how to go about releasing it. However,for the sake of a strong awakening, start by asking how these new Russiagate documents found their way into John Solomon’s hands.

The real neat thing about letter position and kerning is that if you just post black squares and rectangles that mimic letter positions, sizes, and kerning (spacing between typed letters); you will almost be able to guess what is being said fairly accurately.
