Criminal Groups Are Using Drone Bombings to Displace Indigenous Communities in Northwest Mexico

In recent months, more than a dozen Indigenous communities in northwest Mexico have been violently displaced from their lands by criminal organizations.

Drawn by the promise of gold and other valuable minerals, these groups have escalated their tactics—using drones armed with explosives to terrorize residents and forcibly drive them out.

According to witness accounts, residents in the municipalities of Moris and Uruachi, in the northern state of Chihuahua, are among those that have endured a wave of bombings since mid-June.

The attacks are allegedly being carried out by members of Los Salazar, one of the most violent factions of the Sinaloa Cartel, which controls key drug and migrant trafficking routes across Sonora and Chihuahua.

Local residents and mine workers who fled the area said the violence began on June 16, when dozens of armed men—believed to be part of Los Salazar—arrived in Indigenous communities in search of gold.

Prior to these attacks, the region had been under the control of La Línea, the armed wing of the rival Juárez Cartel.

According to a report by the Mexican news outlet Proceso, Los Salazar previously had no presence in Moris and Uruachi but that has changed rapidly in recent weeks.

As Proceso reports, Los Salazar have expanded their presence across Chihuahua and are now believed to control up to seven municipalities in the region.

The group is reportedly led by Hugo Guerrero Encinas, also known as "El 01," who was arrested in 2011 but has since been released and returned to cartel operations.

Hilario Valenzuela, governor and spokesperson for the Warijó Indigenous community of La Finca Pesqueira, told Mexican media that thousands of people have been displaced since Los Salazar arrived in the area.

He said the violence intensified after the case became public, with attacks spreading to surrounding communities.

Thousands of displaced residents have filed complaints with both state and federal authorities, but little has been done to remove the criminal groups from the region.

In a social media post, community members accused Los Salazar of killing, torturing and mutilating innocent people, including the elderly, women and children.

The post also described an incident on June 17, when mothers and other residents took to the streets to ask for help from a military patrol passing through the area.

"They laughed at us and said they didn't care at all," the post reads. "They told us to stay inside our homes. Then the bombs started falling. The soldiers just kept laughing before speeding away from the community."

After receiving no assistance from the Chihuahua Attorney General's Office, many displaced residents traveled to Mexico City between June 19 and 20 to file formal complaints with federal agencies, including the Secretariat of National Defense, the Interior Ministry and the National Human Rights Commission, asking for help to return to their homes.

In a plea shared on social media, community members wrote:

"To anyone who sees this, we ask from the bottom of our hearts that you help share it.

By the time this post goes live, dozens of families will have already left their homes in search of peace—the peace that the group known as Los Salazar stole from them.

These people arrive armed, killing, torturing and mutilating innocent civilians who only work in agriculture, mining, ranching and fishing."

Although Los Salazar are a newer presence in some areas of Chihuahua, the group has a history of displacing entire communities in northern Mexico.

In 2015, Mexican authorities accused them of forcing at least 1,200 people to flee Sonoyta, Sonora, and displacing another 300 families from Las Chinacas, Chihuahua.

Search and rescue operations continue in central Texas, where catastrophic flooding on Friday has killed more than 80 people. Dozens are still missing.

During a Sunday press conference, after the usual updates, officials made what has become a familiar request during recent natural disasters: Don't fly your personal drones over the disaster area.

"We know that people want to volunteer, but what we are starting to see is personal drones flying," Kerrville City Manager Dalton Rice told reporters. "These personal drones flying is a danger to aircraft, which then risks further operations."

The Kerrville Police Department echoed Rice's remarks on Sunday.

"Media-operated drones are interfering with official search and rescue drones. There is a no-fly zone in Kerr County for private drones," the department said on its Facebook page. "We need cooperation in this matter. Let our first responders do their job."

During a press conference hosted by Gov. Greg Abbott on Sunday, Maj. Gen. Thomas M. Suelzer of the Texas National Guard said the department had launched an MQ-9 Reaper drone to perform assessment operations.

"It's truly an eye in the sky for our search and rescue people," Suelzer said.

Though drones are now commonly used in military and law enforcement operations, they are also popular among civilians, mostly for photography and shooting video but also for those looking to help search after disasters.

During several recent disasters, however, officials have said those civilian drone operators have hindered rescue operations.

The Dixie fire

In 2021, the Dixie fire spread across Northern California. The flames ripped through communities, displacing residents and burning nearly a million acres of land.

That July, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection said an unauthorized drone had impeded emergency operations.

"Yesterday, aircraft assigned to the #DixieFire were forced to land due to an unauthorized drone flying over the fire traffic area," the agency said on its official Facebook page.

"Drones restrict firefighters' ability to protect lives, property, and natural resources. Remember, if you fly, we can't!"

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has spent decades trying to deceive US presidents into believing that Tehran is seeking to create nuclear weapons, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has charged.

In an interview with conservative American journalist Tucker Carlson aired on Monday, Pezeshkian accusedNetanyahu of pushing this narrative long before he first became prime minister in 1996. “It was Netanyahu since 1984 who has created this false mentality that Iran seeks a nuclear bomb,” he said, referring to Netanyahu’s role as Israel’s envoy to the UN at the time.

“He has put it in the minds of every US president since then… [that] we would like to have a nuclear bomb,” he noted, stressing that Iran has never been developing such a weapon.“This is in contrast to the religious decree… issued by Iran’s supreme leader,”Pezeshkian added. He also noted that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) had confirmed that Iran was not developing nuclear weapons.

Pezeshkian also accused Israel of deliberately sabotaging negotiations with the US on Iran’s nuclear program when West Jerusalem unleashed a powerful strike on Tehran’s nuclear infrastructure, military sites, and top commanders on June 13.

The Iranian president confirmed that Iran was open to discussing supervision of its nuclear program. Israel has long accused Iran of seeking nuclear weapons, with Netanyahu famously brandishing a cartoon bomb diagram at theUN in 2012to illustrate what he called Tehran’s progress toward a nuclear weapon. Russia is using all legal means to free its citizens in Azerbaijan, spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said, noting historically close ties between the two nations

Russian officials are working closely with the local authorities in Azerbaijan to secure the release of Russian citizens detained in the country, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said. He emphasized that Russia and Azerbaijan must strive to maintain their historically friendly relations despite the current tensions.

Several Russian nationals, including journalists working for the Sputnik Azerbaijan news agency, were arrested last week during a police raid on the outlet’s office in Baku. Authorities have accused the detainees, which include senior Sputnik editors Igor Kartavykh and Evgeny Belousov, of fraud and illegal business activity. Sputnik has dismissed the accusations as “absurd.”

Speaking to reporters on Monday, Peskov stated that Moscow is “in constant contact with the Azerbaijani side” and is “defending the interests of the detained Russian citizens using all legal avenues and the existing diplomatic practices.”

The spokesman said Russian Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov and Investigative Committee head Aleksandr Bastrykin have also been in direct contact with their Azerbaijani counterparts.

Peskov underlined Russia’s commitment to maintaining its historically close relationship with Azerbaijan.“We continue to believe – and logic dictates – that Russia and Azerbaijan are and must remain close partners, allies, and countries with a common history, present, and future,” he said.

“All problems that arise must undoubtedly be resolved in a constructive manner that reflects the spirit of our bilateral relations,” Peskov stressed.

The arrest of Russian nationals in Baku came shortly after a Russian police raid in Ekaterinburg last week. The operation targeted an alleged organized crime group composed of Russian citizens of Azerbaijani origin. Two elderly suspects died during the raid, reportedly from heart failure and unspecified causes. Azerbaijani officials have claimed the men were beaten to death in custody and have opened a homicide investigation.

Since the Russian operation, Baku has taken a series of steps viewed by Moscow as retaliatory, including the raid on Sputnik’s office. The Foreign Ministry in Moscow has condemned the arrests as “unlawful” and summoned the Azerbaijani ambassador to lodge a formal protest.

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has warned that “outside forces” may be trying to damage Russian-Azerbaijani relations. Speaking to reporters last week, she stressed that friendly ties remain essential for both nations and cautioned against efforts to escalate the dispute.

Former CIA Director John Brennan could face a perjury probe over his role in the 2016 “Russiagate” conspiracy, which claimed Moscow worked to undermine Hilary Clinton’s unsuccessful presidential campaign in favor of Donald Trump, according to US media.

The current chief of the US spy agency, John Ratcliffe, has claimed that senior security officials manipulated aspects of the investigation, which was commissioned by then-President Barack Obama in 2016.

Republican critics have long maintained that the final document was politically motivated and intended to damage Trump’s first presidency. Moscow has denied interfering in the US electoral process or “colluding” with Trump’s campaign.

Last month, Ratcliffe declassified an internal CIA review of the 2016 Intelligence Community Assessment (ICA), which some media outlets claim proves that Brennan lied under oath during a closed-door congressional hearing in 2017. Allegations of this nature have circulated for years.

”John Ratcliffe is a genius,” a congressional source told Breitbart News in comments published on Sunday. “He just got career CIA officers to admit the 2016 ICA was corrupted and to offer up Brennan on a silver platter… The DOJ could have a field day with this.”

A second source said lawmakers were “stunned” by the contents of the internal review, claiming Brennan “knew the entire time that he was trying to wreck Trump’s presidency before it even started.”

The declassified review, released June 26, includes testimony from an intelligence official who described Brennan’s influence over the inclusion of references to the Steele dossier in the ICA. The dossier – a collection of unverified allegations linking Trump’s campaign to Russia – was compiled by former British spy Christopher Steele and funded by Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s campaign.

The intelligence official said Brennan “showed a preference for narrative consistency over analytical soundness.” The spy chief reportedly wrote to skeptics: “My bottom line is that I believe that the information warrants inclusion in the report.” In his 2017 testimony, Brennan reportedly claimed he had not advocated for the dossier to be mentioned in the ICA.

Senior US intelligence officials are rarely prosecuted for misleading the public, even when the available evidence appears compelling. One notable example is James Clapper, the former Director of National Intelligence, who told Congress in 2013 that the National Security Agency was not “wittingly” collecting data on millions of American citizens.

Documents later leaked by Edward Snowden showed that the agency was doing precisely that. The former NSA contractor is facing prosecution in the US for exposing the mass surveillance program and was granted asylum in Russia.

The strain on supply has increased due to growing demand from new industries such as battery factories and data centers, which require large volumes of water to cool their systems. “They can’t operate without vast amounts of water,” he said.

Reed added that without intervention, the UK faced rationing and water being turned off at certain times of the day.

The warning follows a record-breaking June heatwave in the UK, and as temperatures are expected to exceed 30C (86F) in parts of the country again this week.

The government has secured £104 billion (around $136 billion) for infrastructure upgrades over the next five years following a spending review by regulator Ofwat. The funds will be used to build reservoirs and reduce leakage, Reed said.

However, he warned that despite growing public demand for action, restoring the country’s water system would take more than five years.

Other countries facing similar challenges have adopted a range of water-saving measures. Spain has restricted household water access to a few hours per day during droughts, while Australia enforces tiered water bans during dry spells. Singapore recycles up to 40% of its water through advanced purification, and South Korea uses smart meters to monitor usage and leaks.

With Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu set to visit the White House on Monday for the third time in President Trump's second term, Associated Press has obtained a copy of the latest ceasefire proposal - which now incorporates a personal guarantee from Trump that Israel won't violate this ceasefire as it did a previous one.

Contrary to the wishes of Hamas, the proposed arrangement is a truce rather than an assured permanent end to the war, which has killed at least 55,000 people, according to Gaza's health authority, while rendering much of the territory uninhabitable. Here are the key provisions reported by AP:

The deal centers on a 60-day ceasefire, during which Hamas would transfer 10 living captives to Israel along with 18 dead ones. It's believed Hamas is still holding upwards of 25 living hostages.

While the ceasefire is going, the Israel Defense Forces would withdraw from Gaza to a buffer zone along the territory's Israeli and Egyptian borders.

During that time, a major increase in humanitarian aid would flow into Gaza. Notably, it would be distributed by United Nations organizations and the Palestinian Red Cross. Since late May, a shadowy group led by a pro-Israel American evangelical who's a mutual friend of Trump and Netanyahu the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation has been taking the lead on aid distribution. The group and IDF have faced withering condemnation during that time, as hundreds of Palestinians have been killed at the distribution points, with IDF soldiers confirming they've been using deadly weapons as a barbaric form of crowd control.

Also the ceasefire, negotiations for a permanent ceasefire would take place.

Russian Transport Minister Dies By Gunshot Hours After Getting Fired By Putin

Russian Transport Minister Roman Starovoit is reported to have died by suicide on Monday, a mere hours after being dismissed from his post by President Vladimir Putin, according to Kremlin officials.

Hours prior to Starovoit's death, Putin signed the order removing him from office, with the official decree having been quickly published on the Kremlin’s website. Deputy Minister Andrey Nikitin has been named as acting transport minister in the wake of the dismissal.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was questioned by reporters on the firing, but did not provide details or a specific reason for the sudden change, but he did deny that it was due to a "lack of trust" when asked.

According to emerging details conveyed through Russian state sources:

The Investigative Committee of Russia said in a statement that Starovoit’s body was found inside a car in Odintsovo, a suburb of Moscow. He was found with a gunshot wound, the committee said. It said the circumstances of his death were being investigated but the “main theory is suicide.”

Starovoit had barely served a year in the job, after being appointed in May 2024. Before that he was governor of the Kursk region bordering Ukraine for nearly half a decade.

As Kursk governor, he had faced severe criticism and scrutiny for security lapses which allowed for last summer's Ukrainian invasion and occupation of large swathes of Russian soil, which lasted for well over six months.

Starovoit's dismissal may have served as a public accountability scapegoat of sorts related to widespread public frustration and anger over weeks of commercial travel delays.

Russia has witnessed weeks of disruptions to air travel across almost every major city in the Western and most populated portion of the country, due to constant drone assaults out of Ukraine.

The Russian Federal Agency for Air Transport has lately said that 485 flights have been canceled, 88 rerouted, and approximately 1,900 experienced delays just over this past weekend and into Monday.

Ukraine's military and intelligence leadership has lately openly boasted that its actions targeted against Russian soil have disrupted daily life there, in order to put pressure on the Putin government, and destabilize society.

Given the recent history of deaths of top officials, and even oil execs - often under mysterious circumstances -Starovoit's death is also raising eyebrows and fueling speculation that it may be foul play. For example there was this headline from merely days ago...

In an apparent attempt to control the damage from the AP investigation, UG Solutions has distributed a pair of videos comprising over seven minutes of footage to the press.

The newly released footage offers an unprecedented glimpse of the disturbing interactions between the starving population of Gaza and well-armed, clearly unprepared Americans hired to provide security for GHF’s chaotic aid operations.

Filmed by one of its own employee, the recordings were seemingly distributed in an effort to show UG Solutions’ agents have not fired live bullets on unarmed crowds of Palestinians. According to a UG Solutions statement, the videos “not only clarify what happened, but provide critical context, which contradicts that [sic] AP’s reporting and shows that the accusations are unfounded.”

However, a closer examination by The Grayzone demonstrates that the video was anything but exculpatory.

These crucial pieces of evidence undermine claims by a UG Solutions spokesman, who told the AP he was “unaware of video showing gunfire from someone believed to be a UG Solutions contractor.”

While eroding the mercenary firm’s defense, the UG Solutions video also underscores the shambolic state of GHF’s supposedly humanitarian operations.

Mercenary candid camera exposes “amateur hour”

In the footage, the mercenary filming acknowledges that he and his fellow guns for hire are unable to exchange even basic Arabic phrases with the starving crowds.

“Think I’m gonna write down some… Arabic words,” he says, before rattling off a series of expressions that reflected his team’s lack of training and utter inability to communicate: “Tomorrow. Back. Go home. Stop.”

The mercenary tacitly acknowledges that in the absence of translation help, he and his team have been forced to rely on English speaking Gazan aid seekers. “There were a couple [Palestinians] that, like you said, spoke decent English, that were pretty helpful.”

“I think for the most part they don’t have any mal intent, because they’re desperate,” the American continues, noting the absence of genuine security threats.

Defense Minister Israel Katz said Monday that he has instructed the IDF to prepare a plan to establish a "humanitarian city" on the ruins of Rafah, which would eventually house the entire population of the Gaza Strip.

According to Katz, the plan involves moving 600,000 Palestinians, primarily from the al-Muwasi area, into the new zone after security screening. Once inside, residents would not be allowed to leave, the defense minister said.

Katz added that, if conditions permit, construction of the "city" would begin during the 60-day Israel-Hamas cease-fire currently under negotiation.

According to the plan, the IDF would secure the perimeter but would not run the site or distribute aid. Katz said Israel is seeking international partners to manage the zone. The plan is being coordinated by the Defense Ministry's Director General and former Deputy Chief of Staff of the IDF, Amir Baram.

Earlier Monday, the IDF Chief of Staff's Office told the High Court the army does not impose forced population expulsions inside or outside the Gaza Strip. The office of IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir further added that mobilizing the population and concentrating it within Gaza are not among the operation's objectives.

The chief of staff's remarks contradict the operational order for "Gideon's Chariots," which was presented to commanders in May. As Haaretz previously reported, the order explicitly states that one of the operation's objectives is the "managing and mobilizing the civilian population." At the time, the IDF confirmed the details published by Haaretz but declined to issue an official response.

In a briefing with reporters, Defense Minister Israel Katz said Israel aims to weaken Hamas by targeting its leadership, seizing territory, demilitarizing the Gaza Strip – and implementing what he called "the emigration plan, which will happen." He added that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is already leading efforts to explore countries willing to absorb Gazans.

As part of our commitment to transparency, the Department of Justice and the Federal

Bureau of Investigation have conducted an exhaustive review of investigative holdings relating to

Jeffrey Epstein. To ensure that the review was thorough, the FBI conducted digital searches of its

databases, hard drives, and network drives as well as physical searches of squad areas, locked

cabinets, desks, closets, and other areas where responsive material may have been stored. These

searches uncovered a significant amount of material, including more than 300 gigabytes of data

and physical evidence.

The files relating to Epstein include a large volume of images of Epstein, images and videos

of victims who are either minors or appear to be minors, and over ten thousand downloaded videos

and images of illegal child sex abuse material and other pornography. Teams of agents, analysts,

attorneys, and privacy and civil liberties experts combed through the digital and documentary

evidence with the aim of providing as much information as possible to the public while

simultaneously protecting victims. Much of the material is subject to court-ordered sealing. Only

a fraction of this material would have been aired publicly had Epstein gone to trial, as the seal

served only to protect victims and did not expose any additional third-parties to allegations of

illegal wrongdoing. Through this review, we found no basis to revisit the disclosure of those

materials and will not permit the release of child pornography.

This systematic review revealed no incriminating “client list.” There was also no credible

evidence found that Epstein blackmailed prominent individuals as part of his actions. We did not

uncover evidence that could predicate an investigation against uncharged third parties.

Consistent with prior disclosures, this review confirmed that Epstein harmed over one

thousand victims. Each suffered unique trauma. Sensitive information relating to these victims is

intertwined throughout the materials. This includes specific details such as victim names and

likenesses, physical descriptions, places of birth, associates, and employment history.

One of our highest priorities is combatting child exploitation and bringing justice to

victims. Perpetuating unfounded theories about Epstein serves neither of those ends.

To that end, while we have labored to provide the public with maximum information

regarding Epstein and ensured examination of any evidence in the government’s possession, it is

the determination of the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation that no

further disclosure would be appropriate or warranted.

After a thorough investigation, FBI investigators concluded that Jeffrey Epstein committed

suicide in his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York City on August 10, 2019.

This conclusion is consistent with previous findings, including the August 19, 2019 autopsy

findings of the New York City Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, the November 2019 position

of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York in connection with the

investigation of federal correctional officers responsible for guarding Epstein, and the June 2023

conclusions of DOJ’s Office of the Inspector General.

The conclusion that Epstein died by suicide is further supported by video footage from the

common area of the Special Housing Unit (SHU) where Epstein was housed at the time of his

death. As DOJ’s Inspector General explained in 2023, anyone entering or attempting to enter the

tier where Epstein’s cell was located from the SHU common area would have been captured by

this footage. The FBI’s independent review of this footage confirmed that from the time Epstein

was locked in his cell at around 10:40 pm on August 9, 2019, until around 6:30 am the next

morning, nobody entered any of the tiers in the SHU.

During this review, the FBI enhanced the relevant footage by increasing its contrast,

balancing the color, and improving its sharpness for greater clarity and viewability. The full raw

Roman Starovoit previously served as governor of Kursk Region, where a corruption investigation unfolded after his tenure

Russian Transport Minister Roman Starovoit has been found dead hours after being dismissed from his post by President Vladimir Putin. Russia’s Investigative Committee confirmed on Monday that Starovoit’s body was found in a private car in Moscow Region with a gunshot wound. “The main version under consideration is suicide,” spokeswoman Svetlana Petrenko stated.

Starovoit’s body was found in a Teslanear Malevich Park in Odintsovo, a Moscow suburb, around 3:00pm local time, media reported.A Marakov pistol he had been given as an award was reportedly found beside him.

Before becoming transport minister, Starovoit served asgovernor of Kursk Region. An RT sourcesaid an investigation against him was set to begin for allegedly embezzling funds for defense construction in the region from 2022 to 2024, when he was in charge.

The source claimed that Starovoit could have been detained by investigators on Monday evening and brought in for questioning,facing charges of multimillion-ruble theft.

Ukraine launched a large-scale incursion into Kursk Region last August, in what Kiev officials touted as a blow to Russia. However, Russian forces quickly turned the tide, and Ukrainian troops were fully expelled in late April.

Starovoit was replaced by his former deputy, Andrey Nikitin, as acting transport minister. Nikitin, the former governor of Novgorod Region, was appointed deputy transport minister in February 2025, and oversaw digital transformation, informatization, and automation of the national transport system.

Progressive and liberal activists and supporters are telling Democrat lawmakers "there needs to be blood" in their fight against President Donald Trump and Republicans.

House Democrats told Axios that their base is so angry, there's even a disregard for U.S. institutions and the rule of law.

"Some of them have suggested ... what we really need to do is be willing to get shot" when visiting Immigration and Customs Enforcement facilities or federal agencies, one Democrat told the outlet.

"Our own base is telling us that what we're doing is not good enough ... [that] there needs to be blood to grab the attention of the press and the public."

The call for blood could be related to Trump surviving two assassination attempts during his 2024 campaign, including one in which he was shot in the ear during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

One Democrat lawmaker, among more than two dozen who spoke to Axios, said constituents have told them "civility isn't working" and to prepare for "violence ... to fight to protect our democracy.”

Another House Democrat said that "people online have sent me crazy s***... told me to storm the White House and stuff like that," though they added that "there's always people on the internet saying crazy stuff."

Yet another Democrat said "people who are angry" don’t want to hear that they should channel their frustration into trying to win a majority in Congress in 2026.

"They're angry beyond things," the lawmaker said.

Another House Democrat said: "It's like ... the Roman coliseum. People just want more and more of this spectacle."

While Democrats in Congress, as NPR reported, feel that Trump's megabill is giving them an opening ahead of the midterms, the pleas to fight dirty apparently are resonating.

One House member told Axios that a "sense of fear and despair and anger" among Democrat voters "puts us in a different position where ... we can't keep following norms of decorum."

Democrat lawmakers said many of the angry voters tended to be white, well-educated, and live in upscale suburban or urban neighborhoods.

Kiev not negotiating in good faith – Ukrainian diplomat

Ukraine agreed to direct talks with Russia to safeguard its image, a Foreign Ministry spokesman has said

Ukraine does not take ceasefire negotiations with Russia seriously and only attended talks in Istanbul to avoid being viewed as an obstacle to peace in the eyes of its Western backers, Foreign Ministry spokesman Georgiy Tikhiy has said.

Russia and Ukraine have held two rounds of direct talks in Istanbul in recent months. The discussions did not result in significant breakthroughs with regard to ending the conflict, but did lead to several large-scale prisoner exchanges.

“We don’t expect a real ceasefire as a result of these meetings,”Tikhiy said in an interview on journalist Aleksandr Notevsky’s YouTube channel on Friday.

The Ukrainian diplomat explained thatKiev’s presence at the talks serves to protect its image in the eyes of the international community and avoid accusationsof being the side obstructing peace negotiations.

“It’s to prevent anyone from accusing Ukraine of being the side that doesn’t want peace,” Tikhiy said. He acknowledged concerns being raised “in different circles, even among allied countries,” that Kiev is blocking peace efforts, explaining that “Ukraine is sending a delegation… to show that this is not true.”

The Ukrainian official acknowledged the humanitarian aspect of the talks,noting that if “a thousand people are returned… then it’s worth going and listening to any historical nonsense.”

Back in May, Russian President Vladimir Putin offered to resume direct negotiations with Ukraine without any preconditions in Istanbul – where Kiev had unilaterally abandoned talks back in 2022, reportedly at the behest of its Western backers.Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky immediately dared the Russian president to personally meet him in Türkiye, although the Kremlin noted such a meeting would be pointless without thorough preparatory work.

Ukrainian officials have since repeatedly disparaged Moscow’s delegation as being too low-level, even though the same chief negotiator, Vladimir Medinsky, worked on the original 2022 peace framework.Tikhiy claimed that the makeup of the Ukrainian delegation, which includes Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, somehow proves that Kiev is more serious about the talks than Moscow.

Zelensky is seeking a personal meeting with Putin to defend his claims to legitimacy and resist Western attempts to push him out of power, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Saturday.

“[Zelensky] is insanely afraid of being forgotten, of becoming unnecessary for the West. That somehow the West will sideline him. And you can see he doesn’t step away from the microphones. I think he already sleeps with a webcam,” she said.

Zelensky’s presidential term expired last year, and Moscow views him as illegitimate. In June, Putin said he was open to meeting with the actor-turned-politician, but suggested that the Ukrainian leader lacks legitimacy for signing binding agreements.

“I am ready to meet with anyone, including Zelensky,” Putin said. “That’s not the issue – if the Ukrainian state trusts someone to conduct negotiations, by all means, let it be Zelensky. The question is different: Who will sign the documents?”

The West initially backed Ukraine’s bid when the conflict with Russia escalated but support has since waned

Discussions with theWest about NATO membership for Kiev have become increasingly tense and unproductive, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Georgy Tikhy has said, describing the talks as “toxic.”

Western nations initially backed Kiev’s aspirations to join the US-led bloc,but Ukraine’s military struggles and shifting American policies have led to a decline in support.

The dialogue with NATO partners has now reached a dead end, Tikhy lamented in an interview on the YouTube channel of journalist Aleksandr Notevsky on Friday.

“All the arguments and counterarguments have already been presented,and each new round of negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to NATO goes in circles,” he stated. The discussions “have become, to put it simply, very toxic,” he added.

Ukraine formally applied for fast-track NATO membership in September 2022, months after the escalation of the conflict with Russia. Although the bloc has consistently stated that “Ukraine’s future is in NATO,” it has never set a specific time frame for accession.

At the 2023 NATO summit, the requirement for Ukraine to complete the Membership Action Plan was removed, thus simplifying the path to membership. However, the final communique only stated that an invitation would be extended “when allies agree and conditions are met,” without providing concrete timelines or criteria.

Ukraine’s future membership was discussed at last year’s NATO summit and the joint communique explicitly reaffirmed that Kiev’s accession was inevitable.

Since then,however, a number of leaders of NATO countries have soured on the idea, weighing the risks of further escalation with Russia and the bloc’s long-term security priorities.

US President Donald Trump, meanwhile, has been more emphatic, stating that Kiev “can forget about” joining the NATO, noting that its attempts to do so were “probably the reason the whole thing started,” referring to the Ukraine conflict.

At the recent NATO summit in June,Ukraine was barely mentioned in the final communique, while its leader, Vladimir Zelensky, failed to secure support for Kiev’s future membership.

Russia has repeatedly characterized Ukraine’s attempt to join NATO as a red line and one of the root causes of the conflict. Moscow has demanded that Kiev legally commit to never joining any military alliance.

Ukraine’s secret wish list of German arms exposed

Kiev has asked Berlin to provide hundreds of air-defense missiles, armored vehicles, and jammers worth billions of euros, Bild has reported

Ukraine has submitted to Germany a “secret list” containing a broad array of advanced weapons that it wishes to obtain, Bild has reported, citing a copy obtained by the outlet.

Since the escalation of the Ukraine conflict in February 2022,Berlin has been the second largest supplier of arms to Kiev, surpassed only by the US.

In an article on Sunday, Bild claimed that the list is divided into three categories: air defense, armored vehicles, and electronic warfare. According to the tabloid,the requested weapons are worth billions of euros, though it is not clear at this point whether Berlin will fulfill Kiev’s supposed wish list.

The media outlet reported that while anonymous “military circles and industry have confirmed the existence of the list,” a spokesperson for Germany’s Defense Ministry declined to comment on the matter.

Among the weapons requested are 1,500 medium-range and 500 short-range missiles for various modifications of the German-made Iris-T air defense system, Bild claimed.Ukraine is also reportedly seeking 1,200 mine-protected and tracked vehicles, plus an additional 200 off-road vehicles.

Kiev’s wish list also includes 1,000 GPS jammers and 200 mobile surveillance radars, according to the outlet.

Last week, Bild, citing unnamed sources,claimed that Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s government had quietly approached US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth in June at the behest of Ukrainian officials. According to the media outlet, Kiev hoped that Washington would agree to a deal under which Berlin would purchase two US-made Patriot air defense systems that would subsequently be handed over to Ukraine.

Speaking last Friday, German government spokesman Stefan Kornelius acknowledged that “intensive discussions” were taking place between Berlin and Washington regarding such an arrangement.

In May, Germany’s Defense Ministry announced thatit would provide €5 billion ($5.6 billion) to “finance the production of long-range weapon systems in Ukraine.”

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov condemned the decision,saying that Germany is “competing with France for primacy in further provoking war.”

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov similarly stated that Berlin’s “direct involvement in the war is now obvious.”

“Germany is sliding down the same slippery slope it already followed a couple of times in the last century – down toward its own collapse,” the diplomat warned in late May.

Moscow has consistently condemned Western arms deliveries to Ukraine, arguing that they fuel more bloodshed and obstruct peace efforts.

Russian general arrested on corruption charges

Viktor Strigunov is suspected of embezzling government funds and receiving bribes

The first deputy chief of the Russian national guard (Rosgvardiya) between 2020 and 2023, Colonel General Viktor Strigunov,has been detained on suspicion of embezzlement and corruption.

In a statement on Monday, Russia’s Investigative Committee said that a criminal case had been launched as a result of a joint investigation by the Committee, the Federal Security Service (FSB) and Rosgvardiya’s internal security department.

One of the suspected criminal episodes dates back to the time when Strigunov served with Russia’s Interior Ministry, before the formation of Rosgvardiya in 2016.

According to investigators,in 2014 the former official oversaw a building contract for a training centerin Kemerovo Region. While Strigunov was supposedly well aware of severe limitations thatprevented the normal operation of the would-be facility, he ordered his subordinates to proceed with the construction work, the Committee claimed.

“As a result, the terms of the contract were not fulfilled [and] the training center was not put into operation, which resulted in a loss of more than 2 billion rubles ($25 million) to the state,” the Investigative Committee stated.

Strigunov is also suspected ofreceiving numerous bribes from construction companies between 2012 and 2014, totaling over 66 million rubles ($840,000). In exchange for the alleged kickbacks, the former official is accused ofhelping businesses win lucrative government contracts.

If found guilty, he reportedly faces a maximum of 15 years in prison and a hefty fine.

Last Tuesday, the Moscow City Courtsentenced a former deputy defense minister, Timur Ivanov, to 13 years in a penal colony and a massive fine for embezzling state funds.

A former subordinate of his was also found guilty and sentenced to 12 years in prison and a fine.

Several more high-ranking military officials have been arrested on corruption charges following a major reshuffle at Russia’s Defense Ministry last year.

The ruling comes in the wake of a Supreme Court ruling that dramatically limited the scope of nationwide injunctions by lower court judges and is sure to lead to a legal fight with the administration.

"The true design of the Defund Provision is simply to express disapproval of, attack, and punish Planned Parenthood, which plays a particularly prominent role in the public debate over abortion," Planned Parenthood argued in its suit, per Reuters. The case in the U.S. District Court for Massachusetts.

In an effort to emphasize Epstein’s close ties to Clinton before he was sentenced, his lawyers also credited Epstein with "hosting" a trip to Africa in 2002 on his private Boeing 727 for the Clinton Global Initiative, which Clinton himself attended, along with actor Kevin Spacey and comedian Chris Tucker, and other celebrities, purportedly for an anti-AIDS and economic-development mission.

"In a feature article about Mr. Epstein in New Yorker magazine, former President Clinton aptly described Mr. Epstein as a 'committed philanthropist with a keen sense of global markets and an in-depth knowledge of 21st century science,'” Epstein’s lawyers wrote. “President Clinton reached this conclusion during a monthlong trip to Africa with Mr. Epstein, which Mr. Epstein hosted. The purpose of that trip was to increase AIDS awareness; to work toward a solution to the AIDS crisis; and to provide funding to reduce the costs of delivering medications to those inflicted with the disease."

Epstein also has supported the Clinton Foundation financially, but that was not made public until two years ago when a whistle-blower released the names of the super-rich, including Epstein, who held Swiss accounts at the HSBC bank.

The International Consortium of Investigative Journalists, which obtained the data from the whistle-blower, documented $81 million being routed from HSBC Swiss accounts to The Clinton Foundation, including money from Epstein.

Epstein had various accounts totaling $3.5 million, the investigative journalists group revealed and, in 2006, directed $25,000 to The Clinton Foundation.

The close association between Epstein and Clinton is just one example of their personal and professional ties running much deeper than previously made public.

A FoxNews.com investigation in May showed the former president was a frequent flier on Epstein’s infamous jet, dubbed the “Lolita Express,” which earned its Nabakov-inspired nickname because it was reportedly outfitted with a bed where passengers had group sex with young girls.

Flight logs obtained exclusively by FoxNews.com show the former president taking at least 26 trips around the world aboard the “Lolita Express” - even apparently ditching his Secret Service detail for at least five of the flights.

Epstein and his attorneys have said in multiple court filings that he has been the subject of the “most outlandish and offensive attacks, allegations, and plain inventions.”

However, hundreds of pages of court records, including reports from law enforcement, reviewed by FoxNews.com, show Epstein was under close scrutiny by the Palm Beach police and FBI for more than a year.

The U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida prepared charging documents that accused Epstein of child sex abuse, witness tampering and money laundering, but Epstein took a plea deal before an indictment could be handed up.

On Sept. 24, 2007, in a deal shrouded in secrecy that left alleged victims shocked at its leniency, Epstein agreed to a 30-month sentence, including 18 months of jail time and 12 months of house arrest and the agreement to pay dozens of young girls under a federal statute providing for compensation to victims of child sexual abuse. In exchange, the U.S. Attorney’s Office promised not to pursue any federal charges against Epstein or his co-conspirators.

In a highly unusual civil lawsuit, Florida attorney Brad Edwards, and Paul Cassell, a former federal judge who represented some of Epstein’s alleged victims, are suing the federal government over the secret non-prosecution agreement in hopes of having it overturned, so that Epstein could potentially face additional criminal charges.

Brennan’s Fake Russia Collusion Assessment Even More Corrupt Than Current Report Shows

A still-classified staff report compiled by the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI) found the John Brennan-led 2016 Intelligence Community Assessment (“ICA”) on Russian Election Interference significantly worse and significantly more corrupt than conveyed in the memorandum released last week by CIA Director John Ratcliffe, according to sources familiar with the report. The HPSCI staff report also reveals more details of the corruption, the sources told The Federalist.

Revelations that the ICA crafted by Brennan was even more corrupt than exposed last week in CIA Director John Ratcliffe’s release of the internal “tradecraft review” of the ICA suggests Brennan may finally face justice for his role in the Russia-collusion hoax. In fact, sources familiar with closed-door testimony Brennan provided to Congress suggest perjury charges are in the offing.

According to Breitbart News, members of Congress and senior staff maintain that “Brennan had testified behind closed doors that he did not advocate for the dossier to be included in the ICA.” That testimony, however, conflicts with the findings from the newly released CIA review, which detailed how Brennan included the Steele Dossier in the ICA “over the objections of career intelligence officials.”

The CIA report released last Tuesday by Director Ratcliffe includes many more problems with both the procedure and the substance of the ICA — a report then-Director John Brennan took the lead in drafting. Among other things, the CIA concluded the ICA report should not have attributed “high confidence” to the conclusion that “Putin and the Russian Government aspired to help President-elect Trump’s election chances.” Nor should the ICA have included the Steele Dossier in its annex or referenced it in the text of the report, the CIA concluded.

But those problems and the others detailed in the CIA report pale in comparison to the real corruption at play, according to sources familiar with a separate HPSCI staff report. Those sources told The Federalist that HPSCI, under the leadership of then-Chair Devin Nunes, “found the ICA significantly worse and significantly more corrupt than was conveyed in the CIA report.” The staff report also reveals more details related to the ICA’s report on Russia’s 2016 influence campaign.

The HPSCI staff report, however, remains classified. In a letter to President Trump last week, current HPSCI Chair Rick Crawford, R-Ark., noted there was a strong public interest in the report being declassified. A HPSCI spokesperson told The Federalist that “it is the Committee’s view that the information in this report should be released to the public.” The spokesperson added that Chairman Crawford has raised this issue with CIA leadership.

When reached for comment, CIA spokesperson Liz Lyons told The Federalist that “no one has done more to expose the truth and confront politicization in the intelligence community than Director John Ratcliffe.” Lyons added that “from leading the charge on uncovering COVID-19 origins to exposing the gross political bias behind the 2016 Election ICA, Director Ratcliffe has consistently pushed to make critical information public and has put transparency and accountability first.”

Given his record, there is no reason to doubt that Director Ratcliffe will ensure the HPSCI staff report will be declassified when the time is right. Here, the public would be well advised to remember that transparency and accountability may sometimes be at cross purposes: It may well be that Director Ratcliffe or the other members of the Trump Administration working to rid D.C. of the Augean-stable levels of corruption have not yet finished investigating the additional details and/or individuals implicated in the HPSCI staff report. And if that is the case, perjury may be the least of Brennan’s worries.

If the memo content is accurate, Jeffrey Epstein trafficked in sex with thousands of minors for his own gratification. (VIA AXIOS) – President Trump’s Justice Department and FBI have concluded they have no evidence that convicted sex offender and disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein blackmailed powerful figures, kept a “client list” or was murdered, according to a memo detailing the findings obtained by Axios.

The administration is releasing a video — in both raw and “enhanced” versions — that it says indicates no one entered the area of the Manhattan prison where Epstein was held the night he died in 2019.

The video supports a medical examiner’s finding that Epstein died by suicide, the two-page memo claims.

Why it matters:The findings represent the first time Trump’s administration has officially contradicted conspiracy theories about Epstein’s activities and his death — theories that had been pushed by the FBI’s top two officials before Trump appointed them to the bureau.

As social media influencers and activists, Kash Patel (now the FBI’s director) and Dan Bongino (now deputy director) were among those in MAGA world who questioned the official version of how Epstein died.

Patel and Bongino have since said Epstein killed himself. But it has become an article of faith online, especially on the right, that Epstein’s crimes also implicated government officials, celebrities and business leaders — and that someone killed him to conceal them.

The memo says no one else involved in the Epstein case will be charged. (Epstein’s associate Ghislaine Maxwell is serving a 20-year sentence for child sex trafficking and related offenses.)
