Canadians must cut meat consumption by half to reach climate goals: report

A research report published by a federally-funded consultancy group says that Canadians must cut their meat and dairy consumption by half by the year 2050 to reach federal climate targets.

The report was published by World Animal Protection and Navius Research – both of which have received funding from the Trudeau government.

Researchers concluded that to reach net-zero emissions by 2050 and 40% below 2005 levels by 2030, Canadians need to cut out meat and dairy by 35% by 2030 and in half by 2050.

Protesters demand release of Alberta freedom activist in Fort MacLeod

Around 30-40 protesters have gathered outside the RCMP detachment in Fort MacLeod to demand the release of freedom activist Alex Van Herk.

Van Herk was involved in the Coutts border blockade and in the GraceLife church protests.

According to Van Herk’s life-long friend Marco Van Huigenbos, Van Herk is refusing to sign a condition to end contact with Van Huigenbos who was also involved with the Coutts blockade.

Van Herk turned himself into the RCMP on Thursday afternoon.

The RCMP told True North an individual is in custody in Fort MacLeod, but said they can’t release specifics, including names, until charges are laid. Continue…

Moderna Sues Pfizer, BioNTech Over COVID Vaccines

Moderna announced on Friday that it's suing rivals Pfizer and BioNTech SE, claiming that the mRNA technology in their Covid-19 jab infringes on its patents.

The lawsuit, filed in the US District Court in Massachusetts as well as in Germany, seeks unspecified monetary damages for patent infringement, and sets the stage for a massive legal battle between the three vaccine makers.

In a Friday statement, the Cambridge, Massachusetts-based Moderna accused partners Pfizer and BioNTech of violating key mRNA patents in the development of the Comirnaty vaccine. The company says it had patents from 2010 to 2016 on mRNA technology which made its Spikevax jab possible, which the other two companies copied without permission.

Moderna said it’s not asking the courts to pull the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid vaccine from the market nor to block future sales. The company is seeking damages for the period starting March 8 of this year and says it will not seek damages for Pfizer’s sales to 92 lower- and middle-income countries. Early in the Covid crisis, Moderna promised not to enforce its intellectual property during the pandemic, but on March 7 it modified that pledge to apply only to lower-income countries, essentially making this litigation possible. -Bloomberg

"We are filing these lawsuits to protect the innovative mRNA technology platform that we pioneered, invested billions of dollars in creating, and patented during the decade preceding the Covid-19 pandemic," said Moderna CEO Stephane Bancel in a statement.

Pfizer recorded almost $37 billion in sales from Comirnaty last year, while Moderna made roughly $18 billion from Spikevax.

The lawsuit is the latest - and undoubtedly will be the largest - within the industry. Earlier this year, Alnylam Pharmaceuticals sued Moderna, Pfizer and BioNTech over lipid nanoparticle technology used in both of their Covid vaccines, while Moderna has been in a legal battle with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) over whether agency scientists should be listed as inventors on their jab.

In their lawsuit, Moderna says Pfizer and BioNTech had other options but "decided to proceed with a vaccine that has the same exact mRNA chemical modification to its vaccine" as their treatment. It also accused the pair of copying its method of encoding a full-length spike protein in a lipid nanoparticle.

New YouTube policy now permits telling truth about devastating harms and uselessness of masks for COVID

The change is supposed to have taken place sometime between mid-April and late May

YouTube apparently changed its COVID-19 “misinformation” policies earlier this year to allow users to question the effectiveness of masks against the disease.

In a recent tweet, conservative commentator Tim Poole posted two screenshots from the online Wayback Machine showing two images of YouTube’s COVID “misinformation” policy, one taken on April 13 of this year, the next from May 31.

The screenshot from April states that “Claims that masks do not play a role in preventing the contraction or transmission of COVID-19,” and claims that the masks cause physical and psychological harm, will cause a post to be taken down, and a channel that breaks the platforms policy thrice in a 90 day period will be permanently banned.

The platform’s “misinformation” policy for May does not mention policies with regard to masks and their effectiveness and shows the two bullet points relating to masks have been removed. There is still no mention of masks in the policy at the time of writing. Continue…

A new movement in Germany aims to decriminalize the act of a human having sex with an animal, also known as zoophilia.

The goal is to turn LGBTQ into LGBTQZ, apparently, as marchers showed up with pets in tow to demand that Germany alter its animal protection law to allow the abominable act.

Right now, it is illegal to do anything sexual with an animal in Germany, and members of the Zoophilia Pride March are demanding action by the government to support their perversions.

A group of Zoophilia Pride March attendees was seen holding up a large banner in multiple languages, including German, English and Hebrew. It contained the usual Pride rhetoric about “equality for all.”

Freedom activist released following peaceful protest outside RCMP detachment

Coutts border protester Alex Van Herk says the Alberta RCMP dropped a condition which would force him to end contact with his best friend and fellow protester after 200 people showed up to an RCMP detachment to protest his detainment.

On Thursday evening, True North reported that around 30-40 protesters gathered outside the RCMP detachment in Fort MacLeod, Alberta to demand Van Herk’s release. As the night went on, that crowd swelled to 200 people who protested until Van Herk was released.

“If we stand up against tyranny, we have the ability,” Van Herk told True North on Friday morning. “The power is in the people, but the people have to be there to do it.”

As True North previously reported, the RCMP told Van Herk he was being detained for obstruction of a peace officer during demonstrations at GraceLife church. The RCMP told Van Herk’s family he would be released within a matter of hours, but complications began after Van Herk turned himself in.

A large tech trade group in the U.S. is calling for the Trudeau government’s controversial internet regulation bill, Bill C-11, to be rewritten, according to Blacklock’s Reporter.

“Governments should be modest about imposing obligations on the technological future,” The Consumer Technology Association of Arlington, Virginia (CTA) wrote in a submission to the Senate transport and communications committee on Thursday.

“Specifically, Canada should be cautious and precise about attempting to influence or define the information that is available to users.”

The CTA argues that C-11 fails to define what “commercial” internet programmers are and the bill does not “explicitly exempt videos uploaded on YouTube by everyday users.”

“Individuals and companies communicating on the internet were not like radio and TV broadcasters and should not be regulated under the Broadcasting Act,” said the CTA. Continue…

The statement of claim filed by 20 City of Windsor employees alleges that the city breached their constitutional rights with an illegal vaccine mandate.

A group of 20 former City of Windsor employees is taking legal action against the city over what they call a breach of their Charter rights.

The plaintiffs include frontline workers and first responders previously hailed as heroes by Windsor leaders.

The group is being represented by lawyer Courtney Betty who is quoted in the press release: “The Canadian Charter of Rights requires that the City of Windsor abide by the division of powers set out in the Canadian Constitution and protect the basic rights of the plaintiffs guaranteed by the Charter of Rights. On both counts the City has failed.”

Furthermore, the release states that the employees were put on unpaid leave as of November 2021 with terminations beginning in January 2022.

“The city carried out these illegal actions outside of the mandates and guidance of the Province of Ontario and without due process. The result is destruction of the lives of many of the plaintiffs who were discarded without any means of meeting their basic needs. The negative impact on their lives continues while the city maintains the illegal practice of forced vaccination to maintain employment contrary to the guidance of the Province of Ontario and international science. Amid continued blackouts and great political unrest, the Pakistani government has threatened protesters with having their digital IDs blocked so they can’t access their bank accounts.

Interior minister Rana Sanaullah issued the threat as a warning to former PM Imran Khan (whose been encouraging protests across the country), his cabinet, and protesters after one federal minister was publicly heckled in a restaurant.

Khan has since been charged with “terrorism” after he accused Pakistani police and the judiciary of detaining and torturing one of his aids. The charge has, predictably, not gone over well for the current administration and has only revitalized protests.

Khan has been extremely critical of the current administration since being ousted from the government following a no-confidence vote in April, with his rhetoric growing increasingly accusatory in nature. For their part, the government has responded by blocking online and live TV coverage of Khan’s speeches.

“The fascist imported government sunk to a new low today by banning live coverage of my speeches on TV and then blocking YouTube temporarily during my speech at Liaquat Bagh. All this after continuous intimidation of mediapersons and taking channels off air earlier,” Khan wrote on Twitter.

“This is not only a gross violation of freedom of speech but also negatively affects the digital media industry and the livelihoods of many. What they need to understand is that no matter what they do, they cannot suppress the will of the people, which is Haqeeqi Azadi.”

Besides political turmoil, ongoing electricity blackouts coupled with rising costs have stoked the flames of Pakistani protests, and massive demonstrations have erupted across the country.

How many will have their access to banks blocked remains to be seen, but the interior minister said that Khan’s supporters could also have their passports blocked and possibly be arrested for participating in the ongoing demonstrations.

Scientists create mealworm seasoning to save the world

Scientists have figured out a way to take on overpopulation and climate change by creating a food seasoning made of mealworm.

“The global food market continues to grow, but it is still necessary to explore new food materials and/or develop new food products because food resources are gradually being depleted,” says researcher Hee Cho.

Cho says the bug spice was created in response to “a growing global population and the looming climate crisis.”

Even if eating bugs isn’t your thing, Cho and her fellow researchers may have found a way to keep things out of sight and out of mind. Indeed, the mealworm seasoning looks just like any other one that isn’t made up of roaches and garbage maggots and could be the next step in addressing most people’s pesky meat preference.

“Edible insects are superfoods,” says Cho, adding that “Many consumers do not like their [mealworms] physical appearance. So most insects have been used in crushed or powdered forms as food additives.”

FORT CHIPEWYAN, Alberta (LifeSiteNews) – One of the oldest standing Catholic churches in the Canadian province of Alberta was terrifyingly reduced to ashes late last week in what police are deeming a “suspicious” incident.

The destruction of yet another historic Catholic church in Canada happened last Thursday in the remote northern Alberta town of Fort Chipewyan. The fire saw the 113-year-old Catholic church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin reduced to nothing but its burned-out foundation. The church was built by the Oblate missionaries in 1909.

Police had been notified of the fire in the early morning hours on Thursday, and officers along with the Fort Chipewyan Fire Department as well as Alberta Forestry helped put the fire out before it spread to nearby buildings.

While officials have stated that the overall cause of the fire is not yet clear, according to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), the inferno is being treated as “suspicious.”

“We do believe it suspicious,” RCMP spokesperson Corporal Troy Savinkoff told the media.

A labour arbitrator ruled in favour of a group of Toronto firefighters who fought against being fired earlier this year for not taking an abortion-tainted experimental COVID jab.

The Toronto Star reported that arbitrator Derek Rogers decided that the city improperly dealt with the fired emergency responders, although he did not think it was unreasonable to have a vaccine mandated.

Rogers believed that vaccinations requirements were reasonable, but from an employment perspective it was unreasonable to have termination as a consequence for not being jabbed.

Howard Goldblatt, one of the lawyers who represented the Toronto Professional Fire Fighters’ Association in the case, said the ruling was “a significant step” and “precedent setting” and that it could have “very broad implications” province or even nationwide.

Although given that the arbitrator still opined that jab mandates were not necessarily unreasonable, Goldblatt said there are still many questions. “We now have a number of firefighters who are, at a minimum, reinstated,” he said.

The situation has been referred back to the city and the association, which will have to negotiate on how to proceed.

Vaccine mandates have been dropped in a number of private and public sector settings, including banks and health care. However, the city of Toronto has remained committed to jab mandates and has “no plans to end the policy.”

In June, it was ruled that a Catholic nurse in Ontario was discriminated against and wrongfully fired for not taking the jab in Sudbury.

Environment and Climate Change Canada has confirmed documents published by The Counter Signal revealing a new Winnipeg facility hosting a firearms armoury are “authentic.”

Last week, The Counter Signal reported that the Ministry of Environment & Climate Change Canada (ECCC) is building a new facility, which includes biological labs, media relations offices, intelligence facilities and “controlled quiet rooms.”

In an emailed statement, Environment Canada confirmed documents first published by The Counter Signal are “authentic” — and that some enforcement officers are entitled to weapons to carry out their duties.

“The floor plans in the Counter Signal article are authentic,” confirmed spokesperson Amelie Desmarais. “They were shared publicly in July 2021 as part of a contracting process to secure services to renovate the floors occupied by ECCC, mainly to align with Government of Canada GCWorkplace standards.”

As previously reported by The Counter Signal, the facility will be over 50,000 square feet and house hundreds of Environment Canada and weather forecasting staff.

Environment Canada said its enforcement branch is mandated to enforce federal environmental legislation aimed at pollution prevention and protecting Canada’s wildlife and biodiversity. Enforcement responsibilities cover more than 60 regulations.

The department said the agency has officers across Canada under Environment Canada legislation and the Criminal Code. These officers have powers and protections of Peace Officers, the agency said.

“They have the authority to issue enforcement actions,” Desmarais explained.

“A limited number of ECCC employees are authorized and trained to carry firearms in the context of their duties.”

Enforcement officers require “specialized tools” to perform their duties and “keep them safe,” Desmarais said. They also require facilities to house and secure the tools, the department said.

Desmarais said officers routinely take witness statements when working on files and “so we have specially designed interview rooms for this purpose.”

Speaking about the facility’s “controlled quiet rooms,” the department said some offices include closed “quiet rooms” for work requiring a high degree of concentration. “Control” indicates that only employees with access can enter this secure area.

“Those specific areas are essential to the Enforcement’s integrity, security and operational efficiency for both investigative and inspection processes,” Desmarais said.

According to an Indeed job listing, the Ministry is searching to recruit Climate “Pollution” Officers under its “Environmental Enforcement Directorate.”

The department added that it’s currently hiring new officers to maintain its existing workforce.

The leak comes days after Environment Canada agents allegedly trespassed on Saskatchewan farmland.

Landowners who confronted the federal agents were told agents were testing water in farmers’ dugouts to measure nitrate levels. ECCC said it was collecting samples in water bodies, but “no nitrates or other nutrients.”

Nitrogen levels in fertilizer are the newest target of Trudeau’s climate agenda. The Trudeau government recently announced a “voluntary” initiative to reduce fertilizer use on Canadian farms by 30%.

OTTAWA — The RCMP says it is investigating an incident last Friday in which Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland was subjected to a profane tirade in Grande Prairie, Alta.

A video posted on Twitter by an account that voices opposition to COVID-19 public health measures shows Freeland entering an elevator while a large man approaches her, hurling profanities and calling her a "traitor."

The man in the video looms in front of the open elevator doors and tells Freeland to get out of Alberta, while a woman tells her, "You don't belong here."

In a statement, RCMP spokeswoman Robin Percival says physical or verbal actions in person or online can have significant effects and may be against the law.

She says when the threshold for a criminal charge is met, the RCMP or the police of jurisdiction may arrest and lay charges.

If the criminal threshold is not met, the RCMP examines the threats and derogatory comments from an intelligence perspective.

Under RCMP regulations, MPs can receive RCMP protection in Canada and abroad as needed.

The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) has listed openings for security guards for its “quarantine facilities” in Toronto, York and Halton, Ontario.

The posting requires “risk management and security services for Designated Quarantine Facilities in Ontario.”

The job posting was published last week and will close on September 9 at 2 p.m. EST.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the government of Canada created “Designated Quarantine Facilities” for Canadians unable to quarantine at home after international travel due to proximity with family members. The public became aware of these facilities following reports of Canadians taken from the airport in unmarked vehicles and forcibly placed in a government facility.

In most cases, the facility was a modified hotel. Travellers were typically required to stay in the room for three nights or until they received a negative COVID test.

Quarantine facilities were manned by hotel staff and security guards.

According to the Government of Canada website, “Travellers arriving in Canada who do not have a suitable place to quarantine or isolate may be referred to a designated quarantine facility, upon the direction of a quarantine officer.”

During a stay, travellers are “required to remain in your room until you receive permission and a specific time to leave from a Quarantine Officer at the facility.”

A man released following Justin Trudeau’s soft on gun crime policies has killed a woman and put her husband in the hospital.

Nakita Baron, 31, was fatally shot in her Bentley in the southwest Calgary community of Evergreen on August 18. Her husband, Talal Fouani, 46, remains in the hospital. Fouani was out on bail awaiting trial on organized crime charges, the CBC reports.

Court documents show a Sherwood Park man is accused of committing nine offences, including assault with a weapon, pointing a firearm, and possessing a prohibited firearm — charges that date back to just two weeks before the killing.

Calgary police laid charges of first-degree murder and attempted murder against Michael Tyrel Arnold, 34, on Friday.

Arnold was charged with second-degree murder stemming from a 2019 homicide of a 45-year-old man in Edmonton two years ago. That charge was stayed after a preliminary hearing for unknown reasons.

Police laid the assault and firearms charges in early August but could not locate Arnold. Warrants were issued for his arrest. Arnold was not arrested until August 25.

The accused also has a history with drug trafficking, breaching court conditions and was subject to a lifetime firearms ban.

After Arnold was convicted of trafficking in 2018, a 2.5-year sentence was imposed. He was given a four-year sentence for drug trafficking and evading police in 2014.

Arnold remains in custody and will be back in court in September, CBC reports.

Last year, the Trudeau Liberals passed Bill C-22, which reduced the severity of gun crime like illegal firearm possession, gun trafficking, and discharging a firearm with intent. Trudeau also reduced prison time for those who use firearms in a robbery.

Meanwhile, Trudeau is increasing regulations for law-abiding gun owners.

Earlier this month, Trudeau’s Safety Minister announced that Canada is banning most handgun imports until Bill C-21 is passed. Bill C-21 will implement a national freeze on handgun ownership, meaning it will no longer be possible to buy, sell, transfer, or import handguns anywhere in Canada.

“In other words, we’re capping the market for handguns,” Trudeau said in a May 30 announcement.

Health Canada approves Moderna's Omicron booster vaccine

Health Canada has approved a new COVID-19 vaccine from Moderna that targets both the original strain of the novel coronavirus and the specific Omicron variant.

The new shots approved by Health Canada, called bivalent vaccines, are designed to recognize specific mutations in the spike protein of the Omicron BA.1 subvariant.

Shipments of the vaccine are expected to arrive in the next few days, and there will be enough supply for all Canadians 18 and older to get a dose this fall and winter, officials said.

“With the Omicron variant now circulating, we know that the existing vaccines can be less effective,” said Dr. Supriya Sharma, Health Canada’s chief medical adviser, during an online news conference on Thursday.

In a decision posted on Health Canada’s website, the regulator says data show the new vaccine induces a similar immune response to the original strain of the COVID-19 virus and significantly higher responses to the Omicron BA. 1 variant, when compared with the earlier version of the Moderna vaccine.

The United Kingdom approved Moderna’s new vaccine two weeks ago, and the United States Food and Drug Administration gave Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech’s Omicron-fighting shots the green light earlier this week.

The version approved in the U.S. targets newer and more prevalent strains of the Omicron variant than the one submitted for approval in Canada.

“While the vaccine was designed to more specifically target the Omicron BA.1 subvariant, we know that this vaccine also generates a good immune response against Omicron BA.4 and BA.5 subvariants that have more recently emerged,” Sharma said.

The Department of Transport employed lawyers to teach the travel industry how to turn down religious Covid-19 vaccine exemptions.

Access to Information documents titled Federal Vaccine Mandate: Guidelines On Requirements acquired by Blacklock’s Reporter revealed government lawyers coached airlines to doubt exemptions on solid grounds.

“In other words a temporary exemption by one airline does not automatically allow the passenger to connect with a different airline or to transfer modes, e.g. from train to plane or from one airline to the next,” explained the memo.

“These types of exemptions are anticipated to be granted very rarely,” a subsequent communication claimed.

The Nov. 30 memo preceded the Liberal government’s decision to ditch vaccine mandates that barred millions of unvaccinated Canadians from boarding a domestic or international flight in June.

On Aug. 3, the Hong Kong Security Bureau announced charges against Victor Leung-mau Ho, former chief editor for Canada’s Sing Tao Daily, for co-establishing the Hong Kong Parliament Electoral Organizing Committee, a Toronto-based organization aimed at electing an “exile” Hong Kong parliament.

The Hong Kong Security Bureau said in a press release that Ho is “suspected of contravening the offence of subversion” under Article 22 of the national security law, which makes it an offence if anyone participates in activities, by force or “other unlawful means,” with “a view to subverting the State power” of the communist-led government….

Emergencies Act inquiry delayed four weeks as commissioner undergoes surgery

Hearings for the commission investigating Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s invocation of the Emergencies Act have been postponed to October as Commissioner Paul Rouleau tends to an undisclosed medical situation.

Six weeks of hearings were supposed to commence September 19, but will now start October 13 and conclude November 25.

A statement from the Public Order Emergency Commission says Rouleau, a former Ontario Superior Court judge, must “undergo surgery to address a health issue that has very recently arisen.”…

…The release said no further details about Rouleau’s health will be provided “out of respect for the privacy of the Commissioner and his family.”

B.C.’s fertility rates plummeted well below national average

British Columbia has the lowest fertility rates in all of Canada, new data shows.

In 2020, B.C.’s fertility rate fell to just 1.17 children per woman while the national average was at 1.4.

Since 2009, fertility in B.C. has fallen 22% from 1.47 since 2009, while nationally it fell by 16%.

According to the Vancouver Sun, data scientist Jens von Bergmann revealed B.C.’s fertility rate in the 1990s was comparable to other provinces, even surpassing Newfoundland, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Quebec but things are different now. Continue…

Three Canadian policemen have been accused of manslaughter and criminal negligence

Three Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers in Canada have been charged over the shooting dead of an 18-month-old child in an attempt to prevent a suspected parental kidnapping two years ago.

OPP Constables Nathan Vanderheyden, Kenneth Pengelly and Grason Cappus were accused of manslaughter and criminal negligence, the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) announced on Wednesday. They’re scheduled to appear in court on October 6.

The incident occurred on November 26, 2020 when police received a call claiming that the father of Jameson Shapiro had kidnapped him from his house in Kawartha Lakes, Ontario.

The officers spotted the truck of the boy’s father outside Kawartha Lakes and tried to stop it.

The SIU said the man ended up driving his vehicle into a police car and another vehicle, while also wounding one of the officers, who tried laying spikes down on the road. After the collision, the three officers opened fire and shot both the driver and his son.

The father succumbed to his injuries in hospital, while one-and-half-year-old Jameson was killed on the spot in the back seat.

Eight people were sent to hospital Friday after an explosion at a refinery in Come By Chance, N.L., about 150 kilometres west of St. John's, police said.

RCMP said some were seriously injured in the blast and had to be airlifted to St. John's, though Cpl. Jolene Garland could not confirm how many.

"The fire caused by the explosion has been contained leaving no further danger at the worksite and all employees have been accounted for," the Mounties said in a news release Friday night. Organizers of the Freedom Convoy protests in Ottawa have asked a court to unfreeze $450,000 in donations they received so they can pay for lawyers to represent them at an upcoming public inquiry into the Emergencies Act.

Money given to the convoy through crowdfunding platforms GoFundMe and GiveSendGo was put into escrow under court order, pending a proposed class-action lawsuit filed on behalf of Ottawa residents and businesses.

Protest organizer Tamara Lich is among a group of 10 defendants named in the lawsuit who want some of the escrow funds released to pay for their participation in the Public Order Emergency Commission, which will conduct hearings into the Liberal government’s invocation of the Emergencies Act beginning this fall.

Their motion application, filed in Ontario Superior Court on Friday, also shows that more than $1.3 million of donations ended up in two bank accounts in Lich’s name, money that was also frozen. She is currently awaiting trial on criminal charges related to the convoy. Continue…
