A Florida man pled guilty Monday to participating in and covering up a bizarre scheme that wound up getting Edi Rama, now Albania’s prime minister, into one of U.S. President Barack Obama’s fundraising events in October 2012, weeks before Obama’s re-election.
Appearing in federal court in Newark, New Jersey, businessman William Argeros, 57, admitted to felony charges of aiding and abetting an illegal foreign political donation and making a false statement to a grand jury, court filings show.
Argeros gave $75,800 to the Obama Victory Fund in 2012 and subsequently donated $100,000 to the committee funding Obama’s re-inauguration in 2013, federal records show.
In a plea deal with federal prosecutors, Argeros admitted to teaming up with New Jersey limousine driver Bilal Shehu to receive $80,000 “from a foreign source” and route it to the Obama Victory Fund, a joint fundraising committee supporting Obama’s reelection bid and other Democratic candidates.
The funds were used to get Rama, who was at the time trying to get elected Albanian prime minister, into an Obama fundraiser in San Francisco. Rama later used a photo with Obama to suggest Obama supported his election, which he won following in June 2013.

Britain is locked in a bitter argument over "two-tier policing" – the claim that its police now move faster against identity than against actual crime. I spent nearly three decades in China before moving to the UK, and I recognised the pattern. My argument is that Britain hasn't copied China. Instead, the city waives rent and real estate taxes to slash overhead, allowing the stores to buy and sell groceries at cheaper, wholesale prices to combat rising food costs.
so basically it sets up stores that have unfair tax advantages that will probably put other stores out of business. why wouldn't they just wave those taxes for ALL groceries stores and then they wouldn't have to build anything, let the market take care of it?
my short answer to this: they want to put all the other stores out of business, and then they will have a monopoly of groceries and then they will jack up the prices.
