Welcome to /sw/
The board for discussing all things Star Wars!
This thread serves as a simple introduction to the board, but can also be used for suggestions, board news or anything you might like to share.
Tips:
• Here are some essentials to getting started on the board and integrating into the community.
1: Check out the board's CyTube channel for live chats and watching SW videos (feel free to edit the playlist if you're registered on the site): https://cytu.be/r/star-wars
2: We have our own Star Wars encyclopedia covering all pre-Disney media, the SW Holonet. Feel free to check it out and contribute: http://swholonet.shoutwiki.com/wiki/Main_Page
3: Don't be afraid to ask for info, sauce or links about SW comics, books, games, etc. We're always happy to share what we know.
4: Learn some freaking Huttese, you scocha kungs.
5: Fair warning. Diehard Disneyfags and Namefags can and will be mocked by the locals.
6: Always check the catalog.
7: Credits are accepted, but truguts are preferred.
The Rules:
• The rules here are simple, we live by and follow the rules and laws of Hutt Space. Which means we barely follow any real rules here. Just don't post CP and keep shit on topic as I don't like banning or deleting shit, unless its necessary, like spam, cp, brownpill shit and raids. Off-topic shit will not be deleted either, but it will be anchored (unless its scifi-related and in relation to us), so just make a meta general for that kind of shit.
May the Force be with you, troopers.
SW Holonet Wiki
Hello all. You might not remember what the Holonet Wiki is, but I was one of the anons involved with the new SW wiki our board was working on a while back. For those of you who need a quick summary, a while back our wiki hit a rather major snag. I found a way to import a large amount of "Legends" wookieepedia content over to our wiki and thus save ourselves from a lot of work, the problem is that the import process could only be done by the owners of our wiki's domain. So I left for quite a spell in hopes of contacting Shoutwiki's staff (our domain owners) and finding some way to import the content. That feels like ages ago now…
So the end result is, I have some bad news gents. I've been trying to contact the staff of Shoutwiki and to find some way to get around the restrictions but have had no luck. Either Shoutwiki doesn't give a shit or its a dying domain. However, during my period of absence as I did my best to collect content from all Legends articles for importing (as well as any pre-2011 content) I've found several alternative wikis. I've long since given up hope on trying to make any progress with Shoutwiki, so to finally get this over with, I was hoping we could continue discussion on all wiki progress here and vote on what to do and which domain to move to.
/sw/ Movie Battles II
/sw/ MB2 GAME NIGHT WEEKLY SIGN-UP
Monday 9pm GMT there will be a Movie Battles II server up for the /SW/ community. Chat, fight, capture objectives and duel on the "Best Star Wars game of all time!".
Movie Battles 2 is a free mod of the game; "Jedi knight: Jedi Academy". It can be downloaded at www.moviebattles.org, it requires a copy of Jedi Academy (JA) to play. You can use the steam version or GOG version of JA. It runs around £7 on steam, but if you can't afford that or simply don't want to give Disney your money the pirated GOG version works just as well (or so I'm told).
Monday 9pm MovieBattles II; /SW/'s server. See you there.
Password will be revealed in this thread 1 hour before startup.

If you seek advice on media, this is also a good place to ask. This thread may also be used to post any Star Wars items, such as games, movies, books, toys, etc you're selling. So shill away, slimos.
Bordo's Recommendations
*West End Game's D6 Star Wars The Roleplaying Game sourcebooks (formed the foundation of the old EU worldbuilding and introduced all the names of planets and aliens we would come to know)
*Splinter of the Mind's Eye (the first major EU text)
*The Thrawn Trilogy (probably the EU biggest success novel-wise)
*KOTOR I & II (possibly the most popular SW games behind the Battlefront series and full of essential lore)
*Darth Plagueis (delves into Palpatine's past, the nature of the sith and the life of the novel's namesake, Plagueis himself)
*The Battlefront games (not the EA ones)
*Anything by James Luceno and Timothy Zahn (arguably the most consistent in quality and always try to follow the canon)
*Tales of the Jedi comics (contain important lore regarding the jedi and sith)
*The Darth Bane trilogy (explains how the Rule of Two came to be and why the sith got their shit fucked)
*Jango Fett: Bounty Hunter
*The X-Wing novels and comics
*The Hand of Thrawn duology
*The Han Solo Adventures
*The Han Solo Trilogy (different from the Adventures)
*The Lando Calrissian Adventures
*Other miscellaneous books and comics:
**Star Wars Tales
**Allegiance
**Choices of One
**Scoundrels
**Dark Horse in general ranges from great to good.
*Those are just the good, okay and great stories I can name off the top of my head. Now here's a list of actually bad shit you should avoid unless you want a good laugh or have a taste for "things that are so bad they're good".
**The old Marvel comics are a bit of a joke but they have their moments and interesting tidbits of lore (avoid the Droids and Ewoks comics unless they're for your kids)
**The Jedi Prince series of novels (six novels in all) are regarded as "The Room" of Star Wars and are basically responsible for tuning people away from the EU back in the 90s… Even Zorba the Hutt from said novels is the Star Wars equivalent of Tommy Wiseau. The novels are so damn awful they're fun in their own special way, much like The Room, except for all the politically correct preachiness which is mostly Captain Planet shit.
Enjoy your time in the Star Wars galaxy and may the Force be with you.

Its form EA but
- singleplayer game
- no loot boxes/microtransactions
- a white male main character
this sounds too good to be true. But where is the catch? I neither trust the greedy and immoral EA nor the SJW cesspool that is now LucasFilms

Declaration of a New Order
Citizens of the civilized galaxy, on this day we mark a transition. For a thousand years, the Republic stood as the crowning achievement of civilized beings. But there were those who would set us against one another, and we took up arms to defend our way of life against the Separatists. In so doing, we never suspected that the greatest threat came from within.
The Jedi, and some within our own Senate, had conspired to create the shadow of Separatism using one of their own as the enemy's leader. They had hoped to grind the Republic into ruin. But the hatred in their hearts could not be hidden forever. At last, there came a day when our enemies showed their true natures.
The Jedi hoped to unleash their destructive power against the Republic by assassinating the head of government and usurping control of the clone army. But the aims of would-be tyrants were valiantly opposed by those without elitist, dangerous powers. Our loyal clone troopers contained the insurrection within the Jedi Temple and quelled uprisings on a thousand worlds.
The remaining Jedi will be hunted down and defeated! Any collaborators will suffer the same fate. These have been trying times, but we have passed the test. The attempt on my life has left me scarred and deformed, but I assure you my resolve has never been stronger. The war is over. The Separatists have been defeated, and the Jedi rebellion has been foiled. We stand on the threshold of a new beginning. In order to ensure our security and continuing stability, the Republic will be reorganized into the first Galactic Empire, for a safe and secure society, which I assure you will last for ten thousand years. An Empire that will continue to be ruled by this august body and a sovereign ruler chosen for life. An Empire ruled by the majority, ruled by a new constitution!
By bringing the entire galaxy under one law, one language, and the enlightened guidance of one individual, the corruption that plagued the Republic in its later years will never take root. Regional governors will eliminate the bureaucracy that allowed the Separatist movement to grow unchecked. A strong and growing military will ensure the rule of law.
Under the Empire's New Order, our most cherished beliefs will be safeguarded. We will defend our ideals by force of arms. We will give no ground to our enemies and will stand together against attacks from within or without. Let the enemies of the Empire take heed: those who challenge Imperial resolve will be crushed.
We have taken on a task that will be difficult, but the people of the Empire are ready for the challenge. Because of our efforts, the galaxy has traded war for peace and anarchy for stability. Billions of beings now look forward to a secure future. The Empire will grow as more planets feel the call, from the Rim to the wilds of unknown space.
Imperial citizens must do their part. Join our grand star fleet. Become the eyes of the Empire by reporting suspected insurrectionists. Travel to the corners of the galaxy to spread the principles of the New Order to barbarians. Build monuments and technical wonders that will speak of our glory for generations to come.
The clone troopers, now proudly wearing the name of Imperial stormtroopers, have tackled the dangerous work of fighting our enemies on the front lines. Many have died in their devotion to the Empire. Imperial citizens would do well to remember their example.
The New Order of peace has triumphed over the shadowy secrecy of shameful magicians. The direction of our course is clear. I will lead the Empire to glories beyond imagining.
We have been tested, but we have emerged stronger. We move forward as one people: the Imperial citizens of the first Galactic Empire. We will prevail. Ten thousand years of peace begins today.
A message to all Jedi.
This is Master Obi-Wan Kenobi. I regret to report that both our Jedi Order and the Republic have fallen, with the dark shadow of the Empire rising to take their place. This message is a warning and a reminder for any surviving Jedi: Trust in the force. Do not come back to the Temple. That time has passed, and our future is uncertain. We will each be challenged. Our trust. Our faith. Our friendship. But we must persevere and in time a new hope will emerge. May the force be with you. Always.
The TIE Fighters
>Essentially two good guns strapped to two powerful engines
>Shown keeping pace with fighters 20 years younger than it
>Shown often getting drop on it's opponents suggesting it's hard to detect
>Super cheap and easy to maintain
>Very quick to deploy
Why do normalniggers think this is a bad starfighter again?
Anyone out there?
Used to really like coming here a while back for some non-pozzed SW discussion. For a long time I assumed this board was dead and gone and everyone went to a bunker I didn’t know about. Checked on a whim and found it was back. Anyone else out there or am I screaming into the void?

Bunker
As some of you may or may not know, 8chan is currently deep in controversy because of the recent mosque shooting in New Zealand, so there's a non-zero chance the site might get Zucced. It might turn out to be nothing for 8chan, but the risk exists.
So, we need to set up a bunker just in case. This is an issue I've discussed before in previous close calls, but I feel this time it warrants its own thread so everyone knows where to go in case of a shut down. Our main bunker will be our Cytube Channel:
Should the board or site ever go down, we will meet up there and discuss where to move to. As a preliminary caution, this thread can be used to discuss potential bunker options. Here's a few potential boards to move to that me and the vols have found:

If you have anymore suggestions feel free to post them.
2019 Summer Infinity Cup
GREETINGS /sw/
The Infinity Cup is returning once again, and 8chan's boards will be fighting it out on the pitch to claim divegrass supremacy. As a board that has participated in the Cup at one point or another in its history, you are invited to the reveal stream for 2019 Summer edition of the Cup. On Saturday June 22nd, at 3 PM EDT/7 PM UTC, on cytu.be/r/8cup I'll be giving you guys an early look at the Cup's 5th edition, which will include revamped aesthetics, team stadiums and other quality of life improvements I've figured out how to do in PES 17. Hopefully this will get anons back on board with the Cup, considering it has struggled mightily since its 2nd incarnation.
So how is it going to go down? I'll be staging a couple of exhibition matches between teams using their rosters from the last Cup, and we'll shitpost our merry way through the stream. Once the stream ends, entries will be open for the Cup, and boards can start putting together/editing their rosters and kits. Entries will close in early July, the field will be determined, and the Group Draw will take place approximately a week before the Cup kicks off in August. I'm also hoping to possibly introduce managers for the Cup, although I'm still working out the details to keep this from devolving into a namefag dick measuring contest. I hope you all will tune in, and in case you aren't caught up on your board's history, I've provided some links below to get you caught up:

Episode IX Spoilers
(Unconfirmed Spoilers)
Source Claims to be a contributor to a SW Spin off book
Take with a pinch of salt
>Movie features huge dollops of fan service (maybe due to bad feedback from last movie and test screenings?).
>Force Ghosts feature VERY Heavily.
>Rey discovers that the Sith and Jedi have been fighting for millennia and this is just the most recent (and final) act in the long conflict. The sacred texts from last movie hint at this, Force Ghost Luke confirms. Seems no way to break cycle.
>Force Ghosts of Jedi train Rey for 'final battle'.
>The Sith have a form of Force Ghost called in the Materials a 'Sith Wraith'
>Sith Wraiths rely on physical objects - without them they cannot inhabit our plane - e.g. Horcruxes in Harry Potter, Sauron's ring in LOTR. They are plot MacGuffins.
>Palpatine appears in at least three forms in the movie (Hologram, Sith Wraith and inhabiting living bodies)
>Palpatine's Horcrux was on the Death Star (but obviously survived since his Wraith is present/active).
>Sith Troopers guard his Horcrux
>Vaders Helmet is also a Sith 'Horcrux'
>We see both a 'good' ghost of Anakin (Hayden Christensen) and Sith Wraith of Vader
>Kylo Ren is absent from the First Order for most of the movie, Hux commands in his absence from the Finalizer.
>Kylo and Ren Team up to destroy the Sith Horcruxes.
Force Ghost Luke to Rey: We’ve passed on all we know. A thousand generations live in you now. But this is your fight.
> Rey and Kylo fight Sith Troopers and Dark Acolytes including Matt Smith (Palpatine meatpuppet).
>Rey and Kylo Destroy final Horcrux, but spirit of Palpatine infects Kylo.
>Epic Battle which combines elements and scenes from all the the other movies - references to locations from Prequels, Death Star Throne room over Endor, Mustafar etc.
>Battle: Rey and Jedi Force Ghosts vs Possessed Kylo and Sith Wraiths
>Concurrent Battle: Poe Dameron in X-Wing destroys Finalizer in final act just as it is poised to destroy the last Rebel base.
Movie Ends with Ghost of Kylo in Jedi Robes w/ Anakin, Luke, Yoda and other Jedi cameos (and for some reason, Han Solo, even though he is not a Jedi.)
Rey Smiles at Ghosts.
>Luke Skywalker: "We’ll always be with you. No one’s ever really gone."
THE END
Photomorph Thread: Episode II
Since the last thread has almost reached the bump limit, I'd thought I'd start a new one. You know the drill, but for those who don't:
>Let's share some non-SW pics or shitty dank memes and whatever, and then we'll try to photoshop photomorph them to fit with SW.
IX Reshoots
Holy fuck. Test audiences must've really hated this mess. Looks like this movie is a guaranteed disaster if they're going into 3-4 months of reshootings despite the release being in December. This is fucking big. If reshoots are being down from July to October, that means a whole mess of shit is being redone. 3 fucking months. Movies in general are only in principle photography for around 4 months at best while reshoots for minor shit only last for 3 weeks. Disney is fixing something big either because they fucked up big time or someone leaked the story or ending online.
Star Wars Game Modifications Thread
TODAY IS EMPIRE DAY

That aside, what are mods do you favor, /sw/
Jedi order stagnation
>So you believe. But I say to you: you are greater than the Jedi of former days.
>What makes you say that?
>Because unlike the Knights of old, Jedi Luke Skywalker… you are not afraid of the dark.
A few books have taken the position that the Jedi of the closing years of the Republic had, just like the Senate, become largely a shadow of their former self and chained themselves in traditions without question. Some also take the position that Luke's order is better for throwing out a lot of the old policies (only teach kids, no marriage, Shards are perfectly acceptable students). Do you think this works? Is it good storytelling? What do you think of its interaction with the Chosen One thing and "balance to the Force"?
San Diego Comic Con
Apparently a lot of new cringe was introduced for Star Wars at SDCC by Kennedy's story team. It was all awful but what really got me is that they're making a new line of comics and books about "Leia's boyfriend" and her passionate romance with him. Look, I don't doubt that maybe Leia could've had other relationships before Han, but they're just pushing this shit as if Leia deserves better than Han and that this guy is infinitely better. What's up with that?
And yes, pic-related is in japanese because they also want to give Leia and her new/ex-boyfriend their own cheap manga, and it looks Leia and Holdo had some sort of fling. Who writes this crap?
Disney's Star Wars theme park
So yesterday someone sent me a link to a news article revealing that Disney's Star Wars park will be opening on the 31st of May. I am shocked they finished that crap in just 3 years. I thought it wouldn't open until 2023 or so. So how much will it suck? If it was rushed this fast, I'm not sure what to expect.
I saw only like one picture and it looks like nothing from the movies. Just what the fuck is it?
drugs in star wars
I know spice is like the crack of the galaxy as are deathsticks and I remember there was actual weed in an old comic I read as a kid, but I've always been curious about whether or not there are people in the galaxy who use unconventional methods to get high (is there a word for 'high' in SW?). I mean like, what about setting your laser to stun and just numbing your brain and senses? I can imagine some depressed stormtrooper with no access to outside suppliers just stunning himself for kicks. Would it even feel good? Were drugs illegal under the empire? Was getting drunk illegal? How many drugs were there in SW?
Other special effects series
I never got the hype around the Star wars story, frankly I found it boring as piss. But I loved the special effects, be it the original model work or the use of scale models as sets for the prequels. Star wars always stood out to me for it's realistic world built in scale. So what other series have good special effects done in the same fashion? There's a billion cheap knock offs but the crew who did SW must have worked on other series and movies
General Grievous
>tfw this guy could've been the Thrawn of the prequel era, with bonus Jedi-destroying skills
Just rewatching the 2003 cartoon hurts, knowing that he went from a genius strategist and ultimate Jedi-killing machine to a complete disappointment.
Makes it even worse now that it is no longer canon, and the wheezing loser of the CGI Clone Wars show is the "real" Grievous. Shit, they even lowballed Dooku in that show.
I like him having four arms, though. That was a cool addition. I liked him using his legs in combat too, though. Imagine, six limbs, each a potential weapon.
imperial uniform from the holiday special
i watched the holiday special and noticed that the Imperial officer uniforms are completley different from the movie counterparts
notice the line going through the middle, the normal uniforms have this "line" on the side
plus the rank badges look way cheaper
why was this the case?
why were new costumes made for a TV special and why didnt they just reuse the old uniforms?
its even stranger because everything else in the special is reused (alien costumes including greedo, wolfman and more, stormtroopers, weapons)
SWTOR
So /sw/, I know that not everyone here (or anywhere) is fond of Star Wars: The Old Republic, and many recognize it as one of Bioware/EA's many examples of greedy corporate douchery and also the Revan character rape (among other things). But still, its the only major SW MMO out there and it has a shit ton of content, and I thought it would be nice if we had a thread specifically about SWTOR in hopes that maybe we could play together, form our own guild or just help each other out with stupid missions. The game is not as hard as it used to be sadly since they nerfed it by adding difficulty bullshit and even a single player can do a heroic mission by themselves as long as they have decent armor and a healer. But still, we could get together and kill world bosses and whatnot, or just harass other players and hope we don't get banned… If not, just call me a faggot/SWTOR shill and we'll just pretend this never happened.
Star Wars - Rebels
Reminder that the Mandalorian will be a Disney show going by Disney canon where Mandos are a bunch of feminist Utopianists and that Mandalorian armor is now nothing more than a fashion statement.
Also, this is a Rebels thread. I'm going to be posting mp4s from this mess as I've never actually watched it before and I guess I'm a masochist. Any recommendations for clips I should rip? Any specific episodes or scenes?
Can we prove the Force?
Evil it is predictable. Take for instance the case of their always being someone on the dark side and always on the light side, how many is a question more of balance probably, but it's part of the life FORCE energy in everything in the universe. We know that when you burn something it constantly puts out energy, we know that heat is just a variation of friction, so the equation is more like friction = temperature x mass = energy or something like that. Well humans for instance they are constantly in motion (the brains even when sleeping which we know expend and release energy in the form of brain WAVES [not particles]) and expending…. EXPEND (meaning it is being expressed and putting forth energy that is effecting the air around it) itself all the time. With 7-9 billion of them that is a lot of energy being put into the air all the time. What's more is the brain waves, they are always being put out their and bombarding the atmosphere constantly at war with each other in a way, bumping into each other …. thinking now of an ocean which is nothing but waves, they have currents (currency heh) they have places where the routes of that energy are aligned, concurrent in thought, their collective agreements on opinions and actions to take in situations its… current (culture) a current.
Joseph Drolet Sorry I lost myself anyways there is a science that can prove there is an energy in our atmosphere which can not be seen by our naked eyes, and that it is everywhere in an unconscious state waiting to be used, and my guess is that like almost everyone, and everything they like being used, so the one who puts them to work at what they like to do best is the one they find themselves pulled to, attracted to, voting for lol. Well especially if they tell them please and thank you from time to time cause another thing everyone agrees on, they hate thankless jobs.
Youtuber Discussion Thread
DISCUSS YOUTUBERS HERE
Alright you nerf-herders, instead of having half a dozen threads where you shill your favourite Jewtuber and try to convince the rest of the populace that they are /ourguy/ and definitely not a greedy (((Toydarian))) who wants you to donate your Truguts(or Republic Credits if you're some kind of schutta) to their patreon you have this thread.
There is only one rule:When introducing a new e-celeb, you must link to some of their Star Wars related work.
Also, while RLM discussion is allowed, I would suggest going to their dedicated thread, since they are a very prominent part of the fan-base(for bad or for worse) and probably create more discussion than others on the topic of Star Wars.
Now that this thread exists, you may or may not get shit for bringing e-celeb discussion to unrelated threads.
So what exactly did they do wrong besides lose? All they wanted was to not have to pay retarded taxes which is a pretty noble goal. Not to mention:
>Unlike the Recucklic they were transparent that their infantry was disposable
>Didn't want to subjugate the entire galaxy, but secure the outer rim
>Had popular support due to how corrupt and inefficient the Republic was
>weren't entirely just another pawn in (((sideous'))) game in my headcanon
Good Lord, enough with this idiotic conspiracy BS.
Seriously, everything I hear in this is all about /pol/'s idiotic JIDF conspiracy theory, constantly blaming their identity based boogieman instead of the system which causes these bad Star Wars movies and series to be made, Capitalism.
Why is the writing bad, movies have to be simplified in order to more easily translate it across cultures, so they have to dumb down shit in order to appeal to mentally drained and idiotic superficial morons. Why is it full of feminisim? Because idpol is being used as a distraction in order to keep people unaware about how capitalism is ruining everything and it's currently "trendy on the twatters" so they are just using SJWism as a cynical marketing campaign and as a smokescreen to shield the massive egos of the CEOs, directors and all of the nepotistic morons at the top.
The entire reason that they did all of the crap you dislike about the new Star Wars has everything to do with making more money and letting the shareholders continue getting infinite growth. If capitalism didn't exist, Disney, the SJWs, Feminists, and the aut-right morons would have no power to begin with to destroy Star Wars and we could be free to create whatever Star Wars story we wanted.
And before you say anythting, Yes I am a left-winger, but I am against the idiotic identity BS of the Turd-Worldist, bourgeoisie feminist SJWs and the idiotic bourgeois aut-right. Seriously the SJWs and the aut-right are both spooked by identity bullshit that makes them the unwitting useful idiots of the bourgeoisie.
Herr Kathleen pretends to enjoy star wars for this photo OP
>Best way to impress your friends…give them a personal tour of @starwars Galaxy's Edge!
>#stevenspielberg, #jjabrams, Kathy Kennedy with Imagineer & Galaxy's Edge creator, Scott Trowbridge.
Theyre trying really hard to shill this new park of theirs. I dont see how it wont be shit with JJ and IRLRose at the helm; and with Retcon IX coming out relatively soon, I am afraid for the future of the franchise.
What should/can we do to save it from these cunts, anons?
TOR Separatist Canon
I know that we already have an 8canon thread, but I feel like it's purpose is for us to iron out more general concepts and ideas and extremely specific cases like the Korriban posts.
ITT we'll be trying to fix The Old Republic as well as set up a new timeline of events that actually fucking makes sense.
Specifically, we'll be looking at
>the mandalorian war and the cause of it
>the Jedi civil war that followed
>the interwar period inbetween the First Galactic War
ITT: things the good "anti-disney" goyim say...
>Force Awakens got me so hyped but then TLJ ruined everything…
>Rogue One is the only good Disney Wars (and my second favorite after ESB)
>God I love that Vader hallway scene!!!!
>It's not about race and gender…
>I hope Abrams will save the franchise
>As much as I despised TLJ, you should never harass an actress (talking about the so-called harassment of Tran that was never really proven)
>you want a good example of a great SW female character: Ahsoka Tano!
>just give Lucasfilm to Kevin Feige (Infinity Wars was such a masterpiece!)
Do you have more?
>"Rian's in the Lucasfilm braintrust group. Everyone at Lucasfilm liked working with him, TLJ went smoothly unlike Rogue One and Solo trainwrecks and J. J. isn't interested in doing Star Wars and spends all his time at Bad Robot"
>"That's why they gave him trilogy. The "slowdown" is literally just going to be 2020 while they do construction at this other studio that isn't Pinewood dedicated to Star Wars. RJ trilogy episode 1 will be released in 2022 and there's nothing anyone can do about it."
XD I'm such a nerd
Where do you think the critical line is between being a fan of something geeky and being the GAMERGIRL type? I ask on /sw/ because I think it's probably the easiest place to identify it due to Star war's nature. You have the ultra popular movies, which is the biggest franchise on the planet every decade a trilogy comes out. Then you have the bits in between where the normalfags go into hiding while the geeks read endless EW novels and buy games. Obviously that balance is leaning heavily in the normalfag territory at the moment.
So what do you think defines the difference between a geek who likes Star wars and a normalfag who buys funkopops and spends all day on youtube watching RLM? Where is the line in the sand you draw?
The Phantom Menace: An Oral History

anyone read this yet? Unironically full of great anecdotes, nice trivia etc. Very comfy. Lucas & prequel fans were always on the correct side of history.
Force Reservoir
How canonical is Force Reservoir? Is using the force mentally or physically taxing? Arguments for or against?
tldr: I am running a GURPS campaign and my friends will likely choose Star Wars as the setting. Jedi seem to just have to concentrate to use the Force, and Sith seem to pay with corruption.
Pic mostly unrelated.
Star Wars - Resistance
You know, I think it might actually be a skill to be able to make dogfights in space boring. Seriously though, what's the point of making an animated show if it's going to be less exciting than the live action stuff? Isn't the whole point of animation that one has total freedom to portray whatever they want, without having to worry about sets and props and expensive special effects?
That being said, it's time to take a walk through Disney's latest Star Wars offering and see what it's got going on.
/SW/ I need advice
So /SW/ I'm thinking about starting a YouTube channel purely based on star wars legends lore and Vs matches, I have written scripts for 20 videos and recorded audio for 7 videos already. I'm not here to shill or to promote, I am here to ask for your guys opinion if I should start. Does YouTube need another SW channel? Does it need another boring bastard who speaks over images or videos of star wars? (Mainly the style I am going for).
I have taken inspiration from channels such as Jensaarai1, SW Reading Club, GreyJedi91 and on my previous channel I uploaded gameplay of Moviebattles 2 similar to Sylvar in editing, and while I enjoyed making those videos it's not where my passion lies. I really enjoyed writing and recording these lore videos and I would like to make more.
My first video will be on the topic of Jedi Battle armour and it's history and usage thoughout the Jedi Order.
If anyone has any video topic ideas just say and I'd love to make a video!
>TL:DR Shall I make a SW Legends Lore YouTube channel yay or nay?
<Inb4 fuck off shill.
<Inb4 new age youngling, I'm not.
Laser Blades
Since the last thread did welland because i want to post my autism, lets talk about lightsabers and such.
My autism is a saber meant for Jar'kai, in dual wielding the hands are a weak point, so logically a weapon made for dual wielding should remove this weakness.
The only notable other extra pieces i actually gave it was levers for the extra blades, since it might make sense to not burn extra battery in a lot of cases; and an energy line that goes down the side of the blade since it seems more reasonable than having the energy just go both ways through the sabers main piece.

>The rumor is that Matt Smith isn’t Palpatine reborn or rejuvenated but a dark side acolyte.
>However, during The Rise of Skywalker, Smith’s character is willfully possessed by the spirit of Emperor Palpatine.
>During the final act of the film Rey and Kylo team up to fight the Palpatine possessed Matt Smith.
>The two-on-one duel is pretty intense for the duo.
>Eventually Kylo Ren kills Palpatine’s host body
>Palpatine’s spirit then jumps into Kylo Ren’s body.
>Kylo Ren is strong enough to not lose total control of his mental faculties.
>Kylo Ren struggles to take control of his body but subdues himself and his weapon while beckoning Rey to kill him.
>Kylo does the right thing and becomes Ben Solo again as he sacrifices himself to kill Palpatine.
>Rey having never toyed with the dark side like Kylo Ren and the acolyte did means Palpatine has body evil enough to inhabit.
These rumors were given by MSW and mods on Starwarsleaks reddit have confirmed that some of recently posted leaks are true.
What do you think of these highly suggested rumors? Will possession Palps bring balance to the fandom or is this just another bad Disney idea.

Logic hole in Return of the Jedi?
According to Screenrant it is Luke`s fault that Palpatine returns in Episode 9 (and there is a logic hole in Return of the Jedi)

Can somebody explain their thought process? According to the EU, most Sith Lords don't return as force ghosts or if they return they have far less power
George Lucas' Sequel Trilogy
A thread for posting everything we can find about the movies that never were. Does anyone have anymore details on how they would have been about the force on a microscopic level? I don't understand what George meant by that. Something about the Whills?
Clone Wars Season 6
Fucking Ahsoka overload. I swear, every third frame of this shit has Filoni's orange waifu front and center. Fuck, they even got her to fight Maul…for some reason. Not actually something interesting, like Anakin fighting Maul, you know, since Maul killed Qui-Gon, who was Anakin's first mentor of sorts. Also, doesn't Ahsoka coming back basically nullify Anakin's whole arc where he falls deeper into darkness because he has lost yet another person that he care about because of the Jedi Order?
Disney Wars Miscellaneous News Containment Thread
I couldn't find an appropriate thread to dump this, but at the same time there's already so much Mouse Wars crap cluttering up the board. And it all seems to contain the same kind of discussion anyways. Why not have a containment thread for general Mouse Wars stuff that isn't related to major releases and announcements
Let's start off strong:
https://cosmicbook.news/star-wars-marvel-sales-drop-disney
Star Wars and Marvel Comics Sales Drop Confirms Disney
>Sales for Star Wars and Marvel Comics-related products are down for Disney's fiscal year ending September 29, 2018 compared to the previous year and even more so compared to two years ago.
>Revenue for the division is down 4% from 2018 to 2017, and down almost 16% from 2018 to 2016. Profits for the two year period are also down nearly 17%. Disney's Consumer Products division is also the only division at Disney to have lost revenue in 2018.
>Worth a mention is that Disney's 2018 fiscal year saw more Star Wars releases than 2017, but the numbers dropped, which we can assume is a huge cause for concern for Disney and is at least part of the reason for the recent changes to the Star Wars film division that sees the movies slowed down.
>Disney also includes numbers comparing 2017 to 2016 in the report, which also saw a drop
>As noted, the report also mentions numerous times drops for Star Wars are to be blamed on the stronger performance of Star Wars: The Farce Awakens in previous years, which proves subsequent Star Wars releases did not hold up.
Disney Course Correction
>I suppose this is just my opinion but as a result of Disney's Consumer Products & Interactive Media and Publishing division not performing favorably (again, it was the only division at Disney to see a revenue loss in 2018), Disney is course correcting as follows
>Disney CEO Bob Iger has confirmed the Star Wars movies are being slowed down
>Both the Disney+ Star Wars series have male leads, which is opposed to statements made by LucasFilm president Kathleen Kennedy about not catering to male Star Wars fans in the movies, and it is also the opposite of her "The Force is Female" propaganda campaign
>The Rian Johnson Trilogy is currently not being developed as Johnson is working on other projects. The trilogy is at least placed on the backburner (I think it has been canceled).
Reboot happening?
https://twitter.com/adaniels3po/status/1095463052349186049?s=21
>REBOOT… PA…is your only ho…
<Translation: "Reboot past is your only hope"?
I guess its official now. A reboot is happening with Episode IX. With Leia's retcon (and the EU purge years ago), I figured it was only a matter of time. I never expected it'd be this soon though. So what can we expect? I don't know what to expect and it is freaking me out.
Tech that doesn't exist in Star Wars
I realized that while very tiny com-links are everywhere in Star Wars, there aren't any mentions of cell-phones or the like (the difference being you can't dial anyone with a comlink or make a 1 on 1 call, your communication is audible to anyone on that frequency). Only video games that show up are space fighter simulators (which can be repurposed for porn viewing) and playing board games against a droid that is holoprojecting the pieces.
Are there any other real world technology that doesn't seem to exist in the EU? I find the idea fascinating.
Deep shit
Out of all the many ideologies, philosophies, laws, doctrines and teachings both spiritual and material within the SW universe (ranging from jedi, sith, gray, imperial, republican, insectoid, hutt laws and countless more) which would you say most aligns with your own mindset and best represents your own views?
For me, I've always admired the Trandoshan doctrines which are focused solely around the Hunt. It is adventurous, daring and thrilling, although a bit too cruel at times, but the complexity and devotion they can put into what would normally be such a barbaric and savage way of life is really quite interesting, and the "scoring system" even more so. I also used to admire the jedi way before the prequels shed more light onto the order. As such I prefer Luke's own interpretations of the way these days.

IX promo poster revealed
so this promotional poster for episode nein got leaked today. thoughts?
as per usual, looks like a hot mess. the elite stormtroopers on the bottom make me think a lot of that disguise luke used in shadows of the empire. c-3po with a crossbow makes no sense. the knights of ren look intriguing but will be just as much of a waste as snoke's guard most likely. the new paint jobs for rebel ships are pretty shitty. the tie fighter with the fuckin arrow wing looks dumb as shit.
fuck. once again they fuck it all up more than i thought they would.
Now that there's talk of Disney doing their own cinematographic ripoffs of Kotor, I've been wondering: what would good Kotor movies be like? I'm thinking of at most 3 movies -realistically it's unlikely that more would be made- and only the period from the Mandalorian Wars to the end of Kotor II, as that what I'm most familiar with. I know little of TOR.
The first question is one of focus: which parts of the period are directly shown within the movie/duology/trilogy? There are advantages and disadvantages to picking one segment (Mandalorian Wars, Kotor I, Kotor II) and doing a standalone or two-part series with it or fitting some/all of the period into a trilogy.
The Mandalorian wars have a lot of potential. They present a mighty invading antagonist with a culture of honor, an ailing Republic unsure of wheter to intervene on behalf of the Outer Rim worlds attacked by the Mandalorians, a brutal genocidal war, a Jedi Council lost in hubris and inaction and a dissident Jedi who questions the Council, patriotically leads the fight and slowly flirts with the Dark Side. It even has similarities with the Prequels. And like the Prequels the plot's central conflicts are not the war itself but the struggles within the Republic/Jedi and Revan's attraction to the Dark Side.
I'd divide it in two movies. The first begins with the war at its earlier stages -or, if time needs to be spared, with the Mandalorians on full offensive and the Republic at the brink of defeat- and centers on the Republic's mobilization against the outside threat and the conflict between the Council and the Revanchists. Serroco can be shown as it later plays an important role in Revan's motivation to wage war. It ends with the Revanchists leading a counteroffensive and scoring a victory, perhaps in Taris. The second focuses on Revan's journey to the Dark Side and his discoveries about the Rakata and the looming threat of invasion coming from beyond known space. It features his final duel with Mandalore and the destruction of Malachor V, but doesn't end there: it needs to go on just enough lay the prologue for the Jedi Civil War, showing Revan going to Lehon determined to unite the galaxy. But just stopping at this point would leave the story unfinished.
Kotor I could easily be made into an one-off movie. It's a classic hero's tale and stands solidly on its own. There's one issue with doing it as a sequel to the Mandalorian Wars: properly doing the major plot twist that the protagonist is Revan.
Kotor II begs for an adaptation with its quality characters and dialogue. It has so much it could even fit into two movies. Its setting centers on the impact of years of war on the planets and characters, so filming it as a standalone is possible but there's a case for having Kotor II as the conclusion of a wider series. And yet that brings a problem of protagonist switching: the Exile can appear in a movie about the Mandalorian Wars, but the protagonist of such a movie -and a Kotor I sequel- would be Revan, who disappears at the time of Kotor II. But switching protagonist from the Exile to Revan isn't impossible.
Building a trilogy with the Mandalorian Wars + Kotor I + Kotor II may sound like the easiest choice at first. But I'd propose two alternatives: two movies for the Mandalorian Wars + one for the Jedi Civil War. This wraps up Revan's fall and redemption perfectly and concludes in triumph. The unusual alternative would be two for the Mandalorian Wars + one for Kotor II. This leaves a huge gap that'd have to be very well explained through suggestion and exposition and would certainly feel strange. But there are some advantages to this: the Exile can grow from a minor character in the first part, a medium-importance element who secures victory at Malachor V on the second film and the protagonist at the end.
Focus is also a problem for planets and characters. The central segment of both games features four worlds, and yet a movie adaptation need not dedicate the same time for all of them: ideally one or two would be fleshed out in detail while the others are only shown briefly. For instance, a Kotor II movie could focus on Onderon+Dxun, showing complex local politics and what happened to the Mandalorians, and spend less time on the search for Vrook on Dantooine. (Of course, the later Council meeting on the rebuilt Enclave would still be shown prominently). Likewise, out of Revan's/the Exile's companions some would have to be selected for greater emphasis.

Lost in Star Wars
Now before you jump the gun, read the entirety of my post. So I was binge watching Lost in Space the other day and I noticed some… odd yet neat little things. First off, John Williams was heavily involved with the show's music early on and in the Mr. Nobody episode he created some music that would be similar to Tatooine's scores from ANH and Jabba's palace. The following episode had a pompous british officer representing a Galactic government and aiding him were two fucking wookiee-like slaves that made Tie Fighter sounds. Said episodes even made references to hyperdrives (I'm sure it was a semi-common tech in scifi but to be mentioned in those episodes/close to them is really interesting). There were other little tidbits here and there and some scenes with were likely purely coincidental but held visual similarities to instances in SW.
So aside from John Williams, was there anyone else on this show who would go on to work with George in SW? Did George watch it? Was Irwin Allen really that pissed off at George for kicking his ass at the box office?
So, I was playing the headache-inducing adventure of Kingdom Hearts 3 (Disney didn't get my money for it, so no loss) when I noticed something particular in the Toy Story level (only reason I wanted to play this thing). There's a group of toys called Air Droids which are possessed by Heartless during the game which I normally wouldn't care much about aside from their interesting toy design, but what caught my eye was that in the end credits the Air Droid toys are listed as being owned by Lucasfilm and a Star Wars property.
So I have to wonder, these things clearly aren't from Disney's movies or their new line of shitty toys, and I certainly don't recall seeing droids like these in any EU games, media or the old films, so what are they from exactly? Are they from some piece of shitty new Disney media? Some obscure droid from the 1970s Marvel comics? Anyone know? I was going to ask this on /v/, but the KH threads over there are shit (so are the mods) and since this is the Star Wars board, I figured you guys would know something in your vast dorky wisdom.

Separatist Canon/Baobab Publishing General: Before the Dark Times Edition
After much discussion in the initial 8canon/separatist canon thread and the Baobab Archives thread, it's time that Separatist Canon at large got its own dedicated General
>Separatist Canon? What the kriff is this?
Separatist Canon is intended as a fan continuation of the original Star Wars Expanded Universe, now officially referred to as Legends with its decanonization by the new Disney-owned Lucasfilm. With most official creative efforts towards this original continuity ceased- many of the then ongoing storylines were left with out resolution as Lucasfilm focused on building a new continuity from scratch around the Sequel Trilogy. Obviously, this decision wasn't exactly popular among existing Star Wars Fans- even with the questionable quality of new material put aside. Due to this decision- a small group of anons on 8chan's /sw/ took it upon themselves to continue the EU the best they could, and thus Separatist Canon was born.
>That's great, but what makes this any different from your average Star Wars fanfic?
To put it simply- it's intended to operate on the same principles and amount of collaboration as the original expanded universe. Just as authors, game developers, comic artists, etc worked together to create an expansive and cohesive setting in the days before- so too, do we the fans intend to carry on this legacy to the fullest extent of our abilities. Our goal is to achieve the same amount of quality, consistency, and memorable content as the talented storytellers and creators behind it in our attempt to keep the universe we love alive.
Separatist Canon is intended to be a collaborative effort between the authors who wish to contribute, similar to how the shared universe of previous Star Wars stories worked. While none of are likely to be on the level of James Luceno, Karen Traviss, John Jackson Miller, or any of the other great Star Wars writers and we don't have the guidance or expertise of Lucas or Leland Chee on our side- they at least provide an excellent example as to how to proceed.
>How do you decide what stories to include in your continuity? Will people have the same creative freedom they did with the old expanded universe.
The exact process hasn't been decided on yet, and the guidelines are as of yet unrefined- but the basic ideas are as follows:
-Writers are expected to respect previously established continuity, and match the quality of previous material as much as they can.
-Changes to existing material or characters are discoaraged
-Focus is to be put on telling a good story above peddling a political message
-Avoid canonizing/drawing upon Disney canon
-Try to stay in the syle/spirit of George Lucas and EU material, use it as a guide for how your story and ideas should play out
>Can I contribute even if I'm a commie/nazi/cultist of slaanesh
As long as you can tell a good story, your politics/degenerate fetishs are mostly irrelevant. Assuming you keep them out of your content of course. The burden is on you to convince the rest of the community that the inclusion of that doesn't completely break the setting or heavily detract from the story.
I like to call this the Tolkien rule- intentional allegories to specific real world current year politics are discouraged- however, themes that could be universally as applicable in any similar historical era/situation say the parallels that can be drawn between the rise of Palpatine and the fall of the Roman Republic or drawn from your own experiences eg LOTR and Tolkien's experiences in WW1 are encouraged as long as they are there to build the internal hisory of the world you're writing.
>Once it's ready, where can I find it?
Look on baobabarchives.miraheze.org under Baobab Publishing. It should be one of the links on the front page or sidebar.

The Star of Star Wars
Who or what is the Star Wars saga (films) about for you? For me it's Anakin Skywalker. I think the reason it's Anakin for me is that as a 20 year old I grew up with the prequels and never thought they were bad. Whereas when I ask my family they always come up with Luke Skywalker as they are all 45+ and grew up on the Original Trilogy.
Lucasfilm Strikes Back
Lucasfilm employees have been supporting and engaging in doxxing "hateful and bigoted" fans who dared to speak ill of Lucasfilm's agenda and corruption of SW.
>Lucasfilm's Bryan Young was too stupid not to notice he was writting "…" & "…?" all over the place on his Doxxing account. He is the doxxer.
>This Lucasfilm employee is excited to take photos and doxx people at Star Wars Celebration. Absolutely disgusting behavior.
>2nd time Bryan has been implicated in this type of activity. In addition to sexting with underage Star Wars fans in DMs.

I suggest if any of you fucks have Twitter accounts or will try to attend Disney's shitty con to try and get info or mock them, be fucking careful.
New """EU""" material
Pretty fascinating, curious what kind of reception it will get. I also learned that Dark Horse has the right to publish Disney material too, they're apparently doing comics on the Incredibles 2 and Frozen. Maybe we shouldn't be completely blackpilled on the EU just yet. The IGN article has a good point as well which many people have brought up in the past– that there are a bunch of EU stories (even less popular ones) that need to be finished such as the Force Unleashed and I could see that happening in comic book form. It's only been 4-5 years since the EU got "paused", I could see them revving up that machine again if stuff like this gets good reception. I'm
Non-story books worth owning
I can't be the only one who likes star wars more for it's world design and models than the story. I've started trying to collect books like Sculpting a galaxy which focuses on the models used for the backgrounds and the various ships. They're really enjoyable to read or just browse for inspiration while having a bit of a dry patch.
What books like these would you recommend? What are cheap on the 2nd hand market these days and worth picking up?
If you read this in bonzi buddy's voice you are a fag
Political Dissolution in nuWars
It has come to my attention that the Disneyfags are either incapable, unwilling or simply too lazy to come up with a coherent political narrative in their soywars movies. I get that the NuRepublic gets wiped out by a galaxy cannon but what or the first order? The Empire in the OTS had several layers of their organization that is acknowledged and foreshadowed in every film. Imperial Navy, Armed Forces, Stormtroopers and then you get into the Moffs and their power, layered at one point by the Senate and after their dissolution replaced by direct control by the Emperor. The PTS expanded this even further, almost ad nauseum, and had a ton of political narrative. So much so that you could destroy Coruscant and the governing body would adapt very quickly.
NuWars removes this brilliant, well written facade and replaces it with 2 terrorist factions vying for power, and not even real power but occupying power backed by fucking industrialists. Also it's baffling to consider the First Order as some kind of purified Imperial Remnants, yet have a General commanding their Navy (think Veers would be competent enough to command Death's Head Squadron?), a Captain commanding all the Stormtroopers while simultaneously fulfilling a continuous combat role, and literally 0 politicians or anyone capable of being a politician in the entirety of the First Order, who lionizes former political geniuses like Tarkin, Palpatine and many others. The nuCanon's wookie page will even tell you that the FO's government is a "military junta."
So my question is simply: why? The stripping of authority in these films is so obvious and forced that one begins to think that it was done on purpose. I've read in a thread that the Chinese were put off by politics in these films but I am flabbergasted to believe this. Is Disney just lacking the ability to write political narrative? I can't believe we've gone from seriously opinionated political discussions by members of the Imperial Navy for no reason other than creating a rich galactic story with much content to a babby land-force general commanding the entirety of the Navy.
Disney's Brazil meeting is said to end without Fox deal accord
>LOS ANGELES (BLOOMBERG) - A crucial meeting on Tuesday (Feb 12) between Brazil regulators and Walt Disney chief executive officer Bob Iger on a proposed US$71 billion (S$96 billion) deal with 21st Century Fox ended without an agreement, presenting a potential hurdle to the entertainment giant.
>Brazil's antitrust regulator, known as Cade, still has not decided on a date for a ruling on the deal, according to two people close to the discussions.
>The legal deadline for a decision is on March 17 and, if the case is not discussed at Cade's Feb 27 meeting, an extension would need to be requested, said the people, who requested anonymity because the discussions are not public.
>Brazilian regulators are still split on whether the deal can be approved without the need for Disney to sell one of the two sports channels in the country, Fox Sports or ESPN, the people said.
>In December, Cade posted a report that said the deal could create a competition hazard.
>Some Cade board members still see behavioural remedies as a viable option to obtain approval.
>Iger and his lawyers declined to answer questions after the meeting.
Looks like there's been an unexpected shake-up at Disney. If this doesn't go through, Iger will likely lose not just the deal but his chief executive spot.

Reminder that Star Wars only consists of a single trilogy from the 80's.
Nothing made after by Lucas, Disney or anyone else should count as anything other than extremely expensive fanfic, as it ultimately muddles up the themes and story of the hero's journey Luke experiences. None of the other shit happened in Lucas's original vision. C-3PO was never built by Anakin when he was 9, The Emperor never made a factory of clone bodies for himself so live forever, Luke's lightsaber certainly didn't fall into the hands of some orange alien who then gave it to some random girl. None of that shit matters. It's all fucking toy commercials and power fantasies aimed at 12 year olds and nostalgic boomers.
Star Wars ended with that final scene on Endor, they all lived happily ever after like the fairy tale it's supposed to be.
Nu-Lightsaber fights
Can we finally agree that the PT style of Jedi/Sith combat is ideal then all the horrible fencing crap in Nu-Wars. I agree George went a little to far in a few places but he at least established that the Jedi can use the force to agment agility. We saw glimpses of it during the sand barge fight in RoTJ but people pretend that Luke wasn’t doing jumps in the OT.
They should amp Rey and Kylo to fight as violently as Obi and Anakin did in RotS. Maybe incorporate some stuff from their first fight, but please make it feel like two force users are fighting each other.
/sw/-approved EU books
All right you slimos, let's do this. There are guides floating around for TCW and star wars vidya, but nothing concrete about the novels or other EU material besides GIB DARTH PLAGUEIS. Let's fix that, shall we? Pics related are a blank template to fill out, and my take on it, respectively. I'm still a bit of a newfag to the EU so my contribution is limited.
In addition to what I've started up here such a guide could probably benefit from a bit of color-coding, with colors denoting:
>must read, buy it or you're a fag
>okay but only good if you like the characters/other books in the series
>not great but honorable mention (could be an asterisk instead of a color-change)

Disney says 'its never been good at videogames', praises EA's handling of Star Wars so far
https://variety.com/2019/gaming/news/disney-video-game-star-wars-ea-1203129606/
>“We’re good at making movies and television shows and theme parks and cruise ships and the like, we’ve just never managed to demonstrate much skill on the publishing side of games,”
>Bob Iger seemed either unaware of some of the drama surrounding EA’s recent handling of the Star Wars brand or unconcerned when an analyst asked him for his thoughts on where video games fit into Disney’s business moving forward.
>>“We’re obviously mindful of the size of that business,” Iger said. “Over the years, as you know, we’ve tried our hand at self-publishing, we’ve bought companies, we’ve sold companies… [and] we haven’t been particularly good at the self-publishing side, but we’ve been great at the licensing side which obviously doesn’t require that much allocation of capital.
>…we’ve just decided that the best place for us to be in that space is licensing. We’ve had good relationships with EA and the relationship on the Star Wars properties, and we’re probably going to stay on that side of the business and put our capital elsewhere.
Tl;dr, the eiger has seen his shadow, and we'll get 3 more years of shitty EA cashgrabs set in the SW universe.
Disney Movies Discussion
Episode IX's release is still a long way to go before we can tear it a new asshole. In the mean time, I thought it'd be fitting to make a containment thread for leaks, news, discussion, info and debates regarding it and the rest of the Disney films to keep up to date on IX or any other Disney film topic instead of making threads for every shitty new thing that comes up about that crap pile, like Palpatine being in IX because they're that desperate for cameos.
Also for discussing the films, their flaws, things that could've worked if handled by people not as incompetent as Rian, JJ and Kennedy or any other topic.
Disney fucked with Fractalsponge
http://fractalsponge.net/?p=4224
Fractalsponge is a well known 3D designer who's made a lot of excellent recreations of SW ships from all media. However the fuckers at Disney have actually gone and traced his works for one of their fucking handbooks straight from google images. The absolute state of Yidsney.
No trilogy for Rian
>it seems that Johnson may have decided to leave Star Wars behind altogether. SuperBroMovies reports that, "according to multiple sources," Johnson has ceased development on his trilogy of Star Wars movies that was first announced in November 2017. According to this report, it was Johnson's decision to part ways with the mammoth sci-fi franchise, so that he could focus instead on other projects, like his upcoming movie Knives Out.

Dawn of Defiance Player's Guide
Dawn of Defiance is nice, but doesn't give much direction for players beyond the RPGA guidelines for it. Further not all of us get to have Star Wars fans as all the players, so they may need some ideas for character creation. To that end I copied the style used for Pathfinder's adventure paths to write some notes to players. Any thoughts on this?
The Dawn of Defiance campaign opens shortly after the rise of the Empire, with the Clone Wars a very recent and vivid memory for most beings in the galaxy. The Empire has begun tightening its grip on star systems throughout the galaxy, and Darth Vader stands at the newly declared Emperor’s right hand, crushing any opposition and hunting down the last remnants of the Jedi Order. In these short months since the fall of the Republic, many have joined the Empire willingly, including the Core Worlds whose Human nobles stand to benefit a great deal from its tyranny. Similarly, many others have begun rebelling against Imperial oppression, finding themselves driven out of their homes (or worse) and forced to live in a galaxy that tolerates no opposition to the Empire. Throughout the Dawn of Defiance campaign, the heroes must deal with the reality that the Empire is a monolithic threat without any kind of organized opposition, and dealing with agents of the Empire can be dangerous.
The story of the ‘’Dawn of Defiance’’ campaign opens over the Core World of Brentaal, on a little space station called Sel Zonn Station. Brentaal is notable for one thing: It is where the Hydian Way and the Perlemian Trade Route, two of the galaxy's major hyperlanes, meet. Brentaal is largely devoted to servicing (or exploiting) the many travelers that pass through it, and has little of interest besides service and trade. Your character is, like the majority of people on Brentaal, most likely on it for transient reasons. Do not expect to stay long, as you will leave the system forever not too far into the first module.
The year will eventually be known as 18 BBY (Before Battle of Yavin), though your character will likely know it as Year 982 under the Ruusan Reformation or Year 18 under the Great ReSynchronization. At the GM’s discretion, there may be time skips of days to years between module of ‘’Dawn of Defiance’’.
Character Tips
‘’’Classes’’’
All base classes are suited for use in this campaign. Of the prestige classes, those not tied to a specific organization (except the Jedi and Rebel Alliance) may be used. Space segments are present, but not the focus, so an Ace Pilot may feel left out.
Ample story reason to be (re)trained as and multiclass to Jedi will be provided. No opportunities to learn from other force traditions are provided, but the identity of some of their force talents may be presented as an odd manifestation of ability.
‘‘‘Languages’’’
Few events in Dawn of Defiance involve language other than Basic. Of those that do not, most expect the player characters not to know the local language without droid or NPC aid. The languages most likely to come in handy are Huttese, the language spoken by the Hutts and the many criminals and underclass that gravitate to or hail from Huttspace, and ‘’Binary’’, the language “spoken” by droids. While Binary can’t be spoken by non-cyborg humans, nearly all droids respond to basic. Pak Pak, the language of the Neimoidians who ran the Trade Federation, may see some use. While it is difficult for most species to physically speak ‘’correctly’’, it can generally be understood and the Clone Wars may have given ample motivation to learn it (though Basic was, officially, the main language of the Confederacy).
‘‘’Species’’’
Most species around during this era are appropriate. Particularly rare and distinctive species may be quite conspicuous. Combat and jumping/climbing are expected, so droid character will want to be of a model capable of this or flight.
‘‘’Skills’’’
Most skills will receive regular use. Ride, however is only used once. Since most of the campaign will be spent hiding from the Empire, Deception is universally useful.
Weird shit from the pre-Episode 1 EU
>original trilogy in no way implied Jedi couldn't marry so there were plenty of people who were the kids of Jedi
<varied between surprisingly few Jedi caring about the rules, the Corellian Jedi being weird and (least oddly) post Order 66 Jedi marrying as they hid
>nobody had any idea who Boba Fett was or what he looked like beyond "maybe like Jeremy Bulloch?" so there were multiple, contradictory, stories about him (some of which even implied he was female)
<retconned into being bullshit he spread to make gathering information on him harder and impersonators, one of whom was his daughter
>deleted scenes outright stated non-clone non-Jedi fought in the Clone Wars
<they did, planetary defense forces fought a lot of battles without or alongside clones
>Lucas couldn't decide when the Clone Wars were till he was making Episode II so early EU writers were told it happened much earlier than it did
<these dates are all quietly ignored
Most obscure shit that popped up in another work
>Millennium Falcon uses Nirama, a crime lord from the Living Force RPGA campaign only a few thousand people played, as a minor part of the Falcon's history
>a Wizard's of the Coast article makes Havet Storm, from obscure ass British only choose your own adventure books, the student Desann killed
>the author said he did this because it freed Havet from ambiguous canon status
I love this kind of thing. Any others?
Content Collections
Post what stuff you have personally saved yourself. For me movie wise, the content I always find myself rewatching are the Six Star Wars films, the Genndy cartoon series, and the Tie Fighter short film.
Does anyone else have any good recommendations for stuff I may have overlooked or enjoyed?
Thank you /sw/
I just want to say thank you to everyone on this board for making this place what it is. I've only been here for a year and I feel like I finally have a place to just discuss what we all enjoy.
There is really no other place in the internet that has this kind of discussion about the franchise we all love (or love to hate).
So thank you /sw/ for being the board I was looking for
Same Energy
Just how lucky was Kevin J. Anderson to be able to write books before the internet really became the thing it is now? He's essentially a proto-Wendig. He even inserted his body swap fetish into all of his stories.
Is it a coincidence how similar Wendig and Anderson look as well?
The Only Thing Worse than the Mouse
Are the traitors.
A fandom can survive its fools, and even its newfags. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his sonic screwdriver openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the fandom freely, his sly posts proliferating through all the forums, heard in the very halls of Lucasfilm itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, speaking of his love for the Original Trilogy he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all Troopers. He rots the soul of a fandom, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the Prequels, he infects the EU so that it can no longer stand up to scrutiny. A wookie fucker is less to fear.
The traitors have been with us for decades, and their poison finally made their way to the Maker, prompting him to cast away his own creation. The Stoklaska's, the Filloni's, the Kennedy's. They are the traitors that brought us to this point, never forget it, Troopers, never forget it. For even now, in this ragtag community of Rebels, they are amongst us.
social policy in Star Wars
Why were the Rakatans such mouth breathing retards?
>hurr fuck the Kwa even though they were the ones who elevated us
>the infinity gates are permanently disabled, leaving the Rakatans permanently stranded once they lose their force sensitivity
>hurr the weak should fear the strong
>they proceed to get annihilated by a coalition of the weak
>hurr only personal advancement matters - kill your superiors and mistreat your underlings whenever possible
>their entire infrastructure collapses over night
>hurr slavery good
>through their reckless slaving, the Rakatans inadvertently seed their myriad holdings with future enemies who will one day vastly outnumber and overcome them
>hurr only the dark side matters
>this is demonstrably false
>hurr eat whoever you defeat even if they're a member of your own species
>they get cut off from the force through the in-universe equivalent of that brain disease cannibals get in real life
Reminder that to be moral is to be practical and to be practical is to be moral, and that the Rakatans are a great indication of the essential stupidity one finds at the heart of all immorality..
Bravo, ""infinite"" Empire. Bravo.
Where can we take Star Wars?
Disney may own the trademark, but they can't own the universe that lives in all our heads. I know some Troopers are working on the Wiki project, and we've got an awesome memester and artist here in our Photomorph threads, but what can the rest of us do? Every so often we get cool fan projects like that Tie Fighter animated short, and others, would it be possible for us on /sw/ to start telling stories in a galaxy far far away?
Should we all just work on our own? And if we do write stories, or something along those lines, where should we publish them? Just make threads?
And what about social media? Do any of you have accounts on other websites we should be following, like YouTube Channels or the like?
Disney Wars Hotel
>Disney has announced plans for a new Star Wars themed hotel that will allow fans to live out their dreams in a galaxy far far away. The hotel is set to open in 2019 as part of an expansion at the Disneyland resorts in Florida and Anaheim that is exclusively themed around the Star Wars universe.
>The ‘immersive’ experience will reportedly adopt a starship theme, allowing guests to become fully involved with the iconic fantasy universe. Describing the new development, Walt Disney’s resorts chairman Bob Chapek said: “It’s unlike anything that exists today.
>“From the second you arrive, you will become a part of a Star Wars story! You’ll immediately become a citizen of the galaxy and experience all that entails, including dressing up in the proper attire. Once you leave Earth, you will discover a starship alive with characters, stories, and adventures that unfold all around you. It is 100 per cent immersive, and the story will touch every single minute of your day, and it will culminate in a unique journey for every person who visits.”
YOU COULD HAVE PREVENTED THIS
Star Wars Rant
Of all pieces of Star Wars lore, one of the worst and most poorly conceived, for me, is the Jedi Agricultural Corps. Please correct me if any of the following is wrong.
So Jedi of the Old Republic around the time of Ep.1 are “recruited” when they are infants, rarely past the age of 3 years. They are never allowed to contact their family and are raised in a monk/cult like environment trained to control their emotions and focus on peace. They are also trained use the Force to have heightened senses and sword fighting. This training is down in groups and classes till the age of 12 in most cases.
Around the age of 13 a youngling must prove themselves in hopes of conniving a full trained Jedi to take them as an appearance to complete their training. If by age 14 or so they cannot convince an older Jedi to finish their training, they are forced into the Agricultural Corps and sent to some planet to be a farmer for the Republic.
Now I want you to really think about this. 13-15 years old, you have spent all of your life that you can remember training to be a Jedi, every day preparing for your trials and now, after a decade, you are told that no one was willing to waste their time with you and your being sent to some shitty backwater planet to be a rice farmer. These kids are going through the gantlet of puberty, have spent most of their lives living like monks in a temple, have super heightened senses, are deadly swordsmen, and have now been told they are worthless to the Order; a washout, a failure and have to be a farmer on some planet. A planet populated by failed Jedi.
Can you see ANY problems with this plan?
Rogue One
Can we talk about how good Rogue One is? I think that it holds up better than any of the other Disney-era Star Wars movies thus far. Sure, it probably does not work for someone without much familiarity with the wider franchise, but it really does complement the viewing experience of A New Hope.
The ways of the Dark Side
Did SIdious ever actually instruct Vader on the Dark Side or the ways of the Sith in the same way Plagueis did before him? I have read a fair bit of expanded universe material on Vader, and it never shows the Emperor imparting anything more than vague truisms concerning the darker aspects of reality. We are privy to Vader's function and never his training.
I understand the Emperor's reluctance to withhold information and lore from the Hands, but isn't Vader supposed to be a Sith Lord?
The Chiss are Japs
The Chiss are clearly based on Japanese culture with some dashes of Chinese. They share the japs isolationist attitude before the end of WWII as well as quickly mastering all sorts of tech and always aiming high. There's also their Japanese-esque robes with intricate patterns much like kimonos and whatnot, also some female hairstyles look pretty japanese. Even Thrawn's uniform looks like some of the Japanese white admiral uniforms. They were also once more advanced than the Republic (outsiders) but by Survivor's Quest they fall behind. And their enemies, the Vagaari seem to be rather mongol-like, fitting since mongols and japs warred with each other. As for chinese dashes, the name of their species and the name of their written language "Cheunh", along with the robes. Think about it! Chiss may even have the SW-equivalent of anime exclusive to Csilla broadcasts! Ssi-ruuk weebs!
TLJ, Narcissistic Abuse, and Psychological Warfare
Just stumbled across this video on jewtube. It asserts that many elements of TLJ's story as well as it's press signal narcissistic abuse all for the end purpose of psychological warfare. I pretty strongly agree and wanted to start a discussion about it here.
Do you agree that TLJ was more than just a poorly written movie? What other elements of Disney's Star Wars act as a subtle indoctrination to Marxism? What other elements of Disney's Star Wars act as psychological abuse to the Star Wars audience?
Dark Empire
Written by Tom Veitch and drawn by Cam Kennedy
>Six years after the Battle of Endor, the fight for freedom rages on. Darth Vader is dead, but a reborn Empire—under a mysterious new leader—strikes back at the struggling Rebel Alliance. Massive World Devastators, more powerful and unstoppable than the Death Star, ravage entire planets, while the ruthless heirs of Jabba the Hutt place a monumental price on the heads of Princess Leia and her husband, Han Solo. Along with Lando, Chewbacca, Artoo, Threepio, and other old allies, Han and Leia struggle to protect the future for their unborn child. But their greatest foe may be their closest friend: Luke Skywalker…
This will be a storytime of six issues from 1992. I will refrain from commenting on the story in the same posts as the pages themselves as since I probably wont like them, that would distract from people reading the pages and forming their own opinions. Hopefully with the actual comic being present, we can have a better conversation about this series.
Star Wars - Bounty Hunter
This is by far my favorite video game. I love the secondary bounties feature in gameplay and the story is fantastic. I was sad when the female toydarian got killed by Montross.
Does anyone have a link to all the concept art you can unlock in the game?
Filloni Almost Raped Durge
>Durge was also originally going to appear as the first bounty hunter in the 2008 Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series. Supervising Director Dave Filoni and writer Henry Gilroy considered reimagining Durge as a Human character, redesigning his alien features and keeping his armor.
I 100% consider Filloni's CGI Clone Wars abomination to be the beginning of the end for Star Wars canon. Just think about the fact that this retard wanted to take one of the coolest original alien characters from the clone wars and turn him into a generic Fett ripoff.
Is there anyone on this board that defends that show?
Rogue One Spin-Off
>Say they're going to slow down on Star Wars.
>100% cancel Boba Fett movie.
>Instead, make a spin-off to their own prequel movie so they have something to put on their streaming service since they won't be getting the OT back until 2024.
Who the hell thought that this was a good idea? I know that Rogue One is usually considered the better of the Disney Star Wars movie but nobody ever asked for this. We wanted better stories for beloved characters that respected them and were good movies and/or new stuff to expand on the universe. It looks like Disney is so desperate that they going full ouroboros and feeding on themselves.
An Idea for the Holonet Wiki
Include Disney Wars characters.
Now wait a sec, hear me out. You know how Disney is taking Expanded Universe characters like Paelleon and Thrawn and completely raping them? We should do the same, take the names of shitty Disney OCs and then rewrite their histories to suit our likings. So just like how people will search Thrawn and come across fake Disney lore, people will search Aphra and come across a wiki article about how she was a random scientist exploring the Unknown Regions (she never had any interaction with Vader or Evazon or any of the main characters of the OT) who became one of the first victims of the Yu Zan Vong invasion. Her ship's hyperdrive was disabled, and then she was boarded and enslaved, attempting to escape from her imprisonment, a random Vong gutted her and she met her end there, aboard a Vong ship.
This idea gives us the opportunity to score some much needed bants against the Mouse and it allows us some room for creative storytelling. Would anyone be opposed to me adding articles like this to the Wiki?
Is Leia the actual villain of the OT?
>Luke is sent to middle of nowhere
<Leia is adopted by literal kings
>Luke is unaware he is being spied on by his father's nemesis, who makes sure he is not initiated in the force at a young age
<Leia is taught to conspire against her father and destabilize the galaxy with acts of treason
>Luke fights for friends and family
<Leia sends men to die after some obscure ideal
>Luke ends up a wounded soldier carrying the weight of the world
<Leia is just starting off her career as democratic empress of the galaxy
And you can't trust the Jedi when they say she's the daughter. For all we know, the alderaan monarchy just infiltrated the Skywalker family line with a pretender.
Empty nest
>face reveal
>little suspense
>… wow literally who?
In fact, we're just supposed to admire the proud female quadroon at that very moment, so the casting choice, that is to say the high virtue of nu-Lucasfilm: "Look at us right now, we're so (((TOLERANT AND INCLUSIVE)))". That is one of the most obvious moments where you understand this has nothing do with making actual good content anymore, it's all about bullshit exterior to the SW universe in itself. I mean of course we already knew that before, but that may be one of the most obvious signs right here (let's not forget they literally started with jumpscare Boyega in the very first teaser).
It's too bad though because I actually liked her armor/helmet and bike design
Dash Rendar (Canon)
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Dash_Rendar
Dash Rendar has finally been dragged into the Disney universe as part of a Solo tie-in book. Does anyone have more info on what he's forced to do in the book? Wookieepedia has nothing written about it apart from a short quote at the top of the page.
future of diversity wars
http://variety.com/2017/biz/news/star-wars-tv-series-disney-streaming-service-1202611408/
Y'ALL NIGGAS READY FOR SOME MORE DIVERSITY WARS?
- rian johnson developing the next trilogy
- resurrection of the previously doomed live-action star wars tv show, plans to be out by 2019, doubt it will follow the old underworld plans though
- i tried to archive but it kept fucking up
>Disney has closed a deal with director Rian Johnson to develop a new “Star Wars” trilogy, and it is planning a live-action “Star Wars” TV series to air on its entertainment streaming service that is expected to launch by the end of 2019.
>Disney chairman-CEO Bob Iger announced the “Star Wars” news during the company’s quarterly earnings call. In addition to the “Star Wars” TV series, Disney is working on TV series adaptations of Pixar’s “Monsters Inc.,” the Disney Channel’s “High School Musical” franchise and an original entry from Marvel.
>Johnson helmed “Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” which is due out Dec. 15. He’s set to write and direct another trio of “Star Wars” theatrical pics with his longtime collaborator Ram Bergman.
EU Latecomers
Is anyone else on this board just starting to get into the EU now? Having previously had no experience with it, save perhaps a few video games or comics? I'm finding you can get everything used, picked these up cheap (less than five dollars for all three of them) and I've been avoiding any reprints with the "Legends" banner as the money would be going to the Mouse, and putting that label on them seems to be devaluing what they actually are. May as well put a label that says "Bullshit" on them. The fact that Disney continues to sell what they've disregarded says to me that they know their own stories are inferior but they're not going to give up on a chance to make a few more shekels.
All that being said, I'm finding the EU to be a mixed bag. All of it is better than what Disney has put out, but it still isn't perfect. Being as I have no nostalgic attachment to any of it, I wonder what other people who have no nostalgic attachment, who are just getting into it, are thinking about the various stories and plotlines. My favorite stuff are the things that expand the universe, without touching on the primary characters of the movies, that's why I really enjoy these three books, and I find the stories in these books that tie themselves to either the Death Star, or the Rebels, or the main plot points of the OT are the weakest.
My absolute favorite story so far is The Tale of Muftak and Kabe by A. C. Crispin. It made me care about both of them and had cool world-building in the form of Talz biology and genetic memory. I would have loved to have seen a story set on the lush planet with giant flowers and pools of sweet nectar that Muftak described. I found myself quite disappointed when I checked wookipedia and saw that other media ignored those features for the Talz homeplanet.
the dark and the light
Is the force genuinely comprised of two sides, or is the dark side merely a corruption that undermines the balance of life/the force itself? Obviously, the lore gives us conflicting answers:
In the films, Obi-Wan refers to Anakin destroying the Sith and thus bringing "balance" to the force. This indicates that the dark side is something inherently abhorrent or unnatural. George Lucas himself clarified and upheld this interpretation in an interview (which I can't find, but whatever).
However, the expanded universe properties (The Old Republic, Dawn of the Jedi, Jedi Academy to name a few) appear as a whole to be pretty adamant in their depiction of both sides as an intrinsic and necessary part of the force - with DotJ going so far as to suggest a Yin Yang type situation where both elements must be studied in order to reach genuine understanding and balance.
I ask this because the latest Disney film was the first canon entry to mention "the dark and the light side," which would seem to support theory 2. This is doubly weird, seeing as Disney appears to want to get rid of everything eu and stick to the canon films as much as possible in every other respect.
The first theory is obviously more Judeo-Christian in outlook, while the latter is more in line with Taoism and other esoteric Eastern religions. It seems strange that George would go for the former over the later given his desire to emulate Eastern ideas.
What do you think? What is your reasoning? Please provide sources.
More to the point, how do you conceive of morality and the existence or non existence of universals and abstract objects (like good and evil) in relation to all of this?
200 ABY Thread
Said I was going to make this thread a few days ago. This is going to be my primary dumping ground for story planning, worldbuilding, discussion, and refining my ideas so they don't get unnecessarily out of focus. If you're reading over this thread and you wanna call me a fag for overlooking something or contradicting EU stuff, please do. I know the board gets silent, but I'm also laying my concepts down before because it's important to me that people who love the EU as much as I do have a definite say and knowledge of the story I'm attempting to tell. We got some great anons here, so I'm anticipating why I'll be called a fag, because it will often be for good reasons I suspect.
I'll be saging my posts most of the time so I don't force this thread to the front page or just generally shit up the board.(Note: Once I start getting chapters written and, for lack of a better term, published, I'll let those specific posts bump the thread.) I'm also not gonna do the whole "hurr durr what ideas ya got goys?" because I can actually formulate concepts and stories. I don't have an issue building on ideas or proposing their own, I just refuse to just sit on my ass and ask others to think so I don't have to.
I'll be posting here as I can and try to build or introduce the big parts of the narrative.
Here's the quick synopsis of the story and it's biggest beats:
Art Thread
Post interesting pieces of Star Wars art that you've come across. I'm starting with "Hope" - By Mathieu Chevalier
https://www.artstation.com/artwork/w88JZX
In it he presents the Rebellion goading on a child soldier to execute a captured Stormtrooper. His description: "I've always thought it may be interesting to see a less Manichean Star Wars."
Besides the cinematic effect, that 'battle" does make sense? That military tactics would work? Simply marching foward under fire?
You can only see infantary running around and shooting, massive waves, some artillery and very light air support from the part of the Republic. How is that useful against an entrenched enemy, with terrain and home advantage?
Also… what kind of orders are those? "Concentrate all fire in the nearest ship"? You don't need to be a jedi or a "general" to say that.
How you would do the battle sequence to make it less Hollywoodian?
Star Wars Tales - Storytime
An exploration in complete artistic freedom, Star Wars Tales was a comic series by Dark Horse in which writers and artists were given free reign to do whatever they wanted. None of it was ever intended to be canon, and yet quite a bit of it easily could have been. I'll be storytiming my favorite bits from this wonderful little series.
Begun, The Social Media Wars Have
I can't do it alone, Troopers. Tumblr and Twitter are the two largest bastions of Disney Wars fans, it's time we take the battle to them instead of letting them take the battle to us.
Does anyone else have accounts on these sites? I'll follow you. I think our goal should be to popularize the Expanded Universe, and tarnish the Disney flicks as much as possible.
Voice Thread
Aaaaalright, voicefags, clear your throats! Writefags, crack your fingers! EU lorefags, find your bookmarks! It's the first /sw/ Voice Thread!
Pick lines you want read out, or read them yourself! Go find your favorite lines from books, movies, and cartoons across time, or write new ones for our leisure! All is fine, so long as it comes from Star Wars.
The Rodent Problem
4cuck refugees are doing the dirty work of the mouse and shilling Disney Wars across this very board. The one place on the internet that preserves the memory of the Expanded Universe, that preserves the feeling of real Star Wars.
Sexy Twi'leks, consistent world building and storytelling, cool Imperials, and a galaxy worth exploring! This is what we have built for ourselves here, and these rats want to take it away!
I say no more! No longer will we let the Tyranny of the Mouse go on!. We will destroy their evil Empire if it's the last thing we do!
This thread should be the base of operations for making plans and creating content that will damage Disney.
Several years ago, I found a video on the internet of Obi Wan and Anakin on Mustafar where they had giant anime eyes, like a Snapchat filter or something. This is my white whale and I’m desperate to find it again.
Does anyone know what I’m talking about and/or where to find it?
/sw/ Food
What sort of tasty foods are there in the world of star wars, /sw/? Mind educating a lowly /ck/ rapefugee? Are there any which I can recreate irl for my own enjoyment? Also, what about spicy foods? Are there any peppers, curries or hot sauces in the galaxy? I tried looking it up on search engines but all I got was stupid normalfag things like tortillas with cheese and veggies in the shape of Yoda's face. I know the board is slow, but I'll keep checking back now and again and hope I get some answers eventually.
Darth Vader (2017) Comic
Issue 8: Sheev attempts to teach Vader a lesson, to use his emotions, but to use them wisely. He warns Vader against letting himself be controlled by his feelings, otherwise his lessers will become his masters.
Issue 10: Vader doesn't heed Sheev's lesson. He allows Jocasta Nu to make him mad. First she exposes that he's Anakin Skywalker to the clones (whom he kills as a result), and then she taunts him of Sheev wanting to train other students. As a result, he loses himself in his feelings and does exactly what Jacosta Nu wanted of him: to kill her, so she can't expose her secrets to Sheev, and even to destroy the knowledge on force sensitive children. A weak old lady, Vader's lesser in every way, became his master. Sheev's warning made manifest.
This is one of the best mini-arcs we've had, let's be honest. I really like how the relationship between Sheev and Vader is being portrayed, here. In the EU, Vader was little more than an emotional bitch with Stockholm Syndrome toward Palpatine. Here we see Sheev and Vader have mutual respect for eachother, and Sheev even treats Vader like a genuine friend, even while maintaining the sharp edge of a Sith by constantly pushing and testing Vader not to grow complacent. Vader has massive flaws, but he's never weak or whiny. He makes mistakes, but he doesn't lose sleep over mustache-twirling evil Emperor doing something that challenges his morals. In fact, in this portrayal we see how Vader is more mindlessly destructive than Sheev is, which makes perfect sense, since Vader still has so much more to learn and ultimately fails at doing so.
I'll just come out and say it. The portrayal of Vader, and Vader's relationship with Sheev, is better in this Marvel comic than it is in the Dark Horse comics.

Movie Comics
I never understood the point of these. They're just inferior adaptations. Same thing with movie novelizations (although I know some argue those go more in depth into various topics) but the comics do literally nothing new.
Could someone explain to me why they exist? Seems like a waste of resources that could be going towards telling original stories.
Anyone else watch the Star Wars Holiday Special around this time of year? I've been doing it as a tradition for two years now, I must say it's quite enjoyable to watch if you enjoy the zaniness and don't take anything seriously (plus it helps to wash out the taste of the New Trilogy). I think itt's kinda cool how it brought a bit of lore into Star Wars so early in it's history (Life Day, Kashyyyk etc.) although I'm sure no one figured they were going to be anything but one-off tidbits at the time.
The key to victory
There's an aspect of the mousewar I haven't personally seen discussed a lot, and it's comparable to an open exhaust port for "our" side.
Boycotts & a memewar are all well & good, but they ignore one half of the weakpoint that is profitability. Losing potential billions in it all only tells them their current strategies are unsuccessful, it leaves open to their interpretations what "would" be.
The "blanking" of the EU from their main/official canon, in my mind, serves a dual purpose: it frees them up to do as they choose with it, and it forces everyone familiar with the EU to re-buy whatever they put out in those newly made blank periods.
There's a pretty clear example of their tendencies in the form of Hamill. Looking very doubtful IX will do anything with Luke beyond the ubiquitously expected brief Force ghost cameo; nothing beyond that & a few minor voiceover roles on their shitheap "FORCE IS STRONK WOMERN" cartoon shorts meant to "subtly" (aka nail in through the testicles with a hammer) weave their OC back through their canon like they were always present somewhere offscreen (thanks George for setting the bar there low as hell to begin with). Whether it's out of spite for him, us, or a combination of both, he seems to have been essentially fucking dropped by them as both a character & an actor. When the objectively smart thing, and that which "we'd" want, is for them to increase the focus on him & work at restrengthening the character.
Therefore the likely outcome of cutting the brand's profitability, yet leaving it open to their interpretation, rather than any direct, real time, current evidence of course correction to right the profit ship; is them taking some other left-field kind of approach to building their own fanbase again, while not only ignoring our business, but actively spiting it.
Therefore, imo, we need to be also nudging them however possible with positive income. Buying only those very scant few things they try to do which people feel is the right direction, and (in many cases) REbuying, to the extent one can afford to, all of the EU things we like the most.
Rian Johnson is alpha as fuck. Let me explain why.
-He told JJ to go fuck himself and basically disregarded everything he tried to setup in the soft reboot
-He edits his own movies
-He shitposts on twitter and makes people mad all across the internet
-He made a good star wars movie in a mediocre at best franchise
-He isn't afraid of being disliked, in fact he knows something would be wrong if he wasn't since nothing of value is ever universally loved.
-He watched the prequels during preproduction and writing of The Last Jedi
-He opens his mouth only when he wants to unlike Daisy Ridley
-His movie has made people cry for almost 9 months now
-He has people talking about him every day crying their eyes out shouting insults
-He mentally fucked with Mark Hamill a la Stanley Kubrick
-He went to the same film school as George Lucas after reading his book
-He will tell everyone alive to fuck off if they don't like that he makes the movie he wants to make
-He killed Star Wars for normies because he didn't make the same damn flick they wanted over and over again
When the Reality Hits
Does anyone else go for months of time where they feel fine, and aren't thinking about what Disney has done, and then out of nowhere they're slapped in the face by modern Disney Wars fans and their antics?
I'm not going to pretend that my life isn't an empty one. I'm not someone special, I work an unrewarding job, I have no family, I have no friends. So I'm sure other people are doing just fine. But for me, Star Wars used to mean a lot to me. I really cared about it. I never thought it was perfect, but the messages that George was going for really resonated with me. The idea that no matter how far gone you are, you can still redeem yourself. The message that society can be, and often is, wrong. That beaurocracy corrupts. I loved the movies and a lot of the EU.
I don't hate what Disney has done just because they're Disney, I hate it because they've cheapened Star Wars and turned it into nothing more than a money making operation. All of the awful things people have accused George of doing, they have openly done.
The current Star Wars content no longer makes me feel good about life. It's full of mean and self-centered people, it's full of hateful and cynical propaganda, and it makes me really depressed. Star Wars, as silly as it may sound, used to be a force for good in the world. Now it's just schlock. The protagonists went from Rebels who were fighting an oversized Empire, to para-military forces defending an evil Empire and crushing any opposing force. When you actually look at what's going on with the "Resistance" and the "First Order" it's clearly a justification of government funded groups like the CIA who operate outside the control or influence of the public to crush enemies of the upper class and elites.
But what really makes me sad are the people lapping this shit up. Those who say that if you criticize the Sequels you're no different than those who criticized the Prequels. It is through this portion of the fanbase that Disney is granted legitimacy. We need an unanimous rejection of this subversive modern Lucasfilm which is sick she'll of its former shelf. Star Wars is currently being made by hateful people, and it tears me up inside.
Count Dooku's reasoning for joining the Sith
I rewatched Attack of the Clones and I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. What bothered me the most was actually Count Dooku and his motivation in the film. Everything he said to Obi-wan made sense, but obviously the movie ends with him actually working with Sheev. Why would he join with the very Sith whose apprentice killed his own and motivated him to leave? Especially when him seeing himself as a hero to stop the Sith controlled Republic as one of the fallen 20 (and an unwitting puppet) is more compelling than it being just a cover imo. I was wondering if you guys could give me an answer purely off the films to help with what I'm missing and the EU one since our wiki is still WiP.
Griff Halloran
>One of the Aces that flies defense for the Colossus platform, Griff Halloran flies an extensively modified TIE-based racer that emphasizes raw power. No one is quite certain whether or not Griff is a veteran of the Imperial Navy, or whether he just flies old Imperial colors to intimidate his opponents.
So I'm guessing the only white male in this show is going to be the villain then? And they even made him an Imperial as well?
If he is good are they going to have a scene where he denounces the Empire? I can't imagine Disney wars ever portraying a proud Imperial in a good light, or even an ambiguous light.
The reason I'm making this thread is because he's the only interesting character they've shown so far.
On Sith and Superweapons
There's been a lot of speculation over why The Emperor had such a penchant for large, expensive projects—the Death Stars, the Galaxy Gun, World Devastators, the Eclipse-class, Vader and the Executor, and so on. Canon suggests Sidious was preparing for the Vong incursion, while a few people have speculated that it's a side effect of drawing on the dark side of the Force. The Emperor had become addicted to drawing on dark energies, so the reasoning goes, and that thirst required him to concentrate destructive power into individual superweapons, so that he might revel in the anguish of billions being slaughtered at once. I'd like to offer another explanation: the nature of the Sith, and Sidious especially, inspires them to create weapons of a like mentality.
The Bane line of Sith, following the Rule of Two, called for the entirety of the Sith to be embodied in two individuals. Constantly increasing their strength by killing off the weak, the dark side power of the Sith becomes more and more concentrated with each generation, until after a thousand years, you're left with Darth Sidious, who was basically a walking Force nexus, one of the most powerful lords to have ever lived. In effect, the Bane line of Sith are superweapons. They are an immense amount of power concentrated into a small number of vessels, and that power was arrived at through a disproportionately high amount of investment. The superweapon mentality is therefore fundamental to the entire Rule of Two philosophy—you can't be a Bane line Sith without implicitly believing in the value of superweapons, it's integral to your psychology. I think it could be argued that this is the reason Sidious insisted on building these very expensive projects, even though they can be destroyed by a much less expensive force, and you could net a greater amount of destructive power by spending those resources on a large number of conventional weapons. I'm sure Mitth'raw'nuruodo would be able to pick this up from examining Sith architecture for a bit.
Dr. Aphra - dumb thot in space
So how about the Dr. Aphra comics?
Diverging from Dr. Aphra working for Vader, the dumb thot has begun her independent work and has her own comic series now.
I think the comic is pretty good, and in the right place.
Spoilers ahead
**I think it's a pretty interesting story they've got going.
Not gonna lie, Aphra is not as smart as she thinks. I'm waiting for the final showdown with 000 putting Aphra in her rightful place.
They've recently returned Evezan and Ponda, so the story is starting to get heated up.**
Star wars revisionism.
I feel like I'm being gaslit on Star wars so I thought I'd ask if any one else felt the same way. I've been into nerd shit since the early 90s. I remember Star wars being a flash in the pan where no one cared much about it. The movies came and went as popular things do, games sold okay and books sold to the nerd crowd. It was a series which nerds kept afloat but it wasn't something colossal. It was no bigger than Nightmare on Elm Street or Friday the 13th. Big for it's time but nothing sustaining it.
The special editions were announced and made out to be this huge deal. Star wars was going to be back in the cinemas again and it was SUPER HYPE EPIC. But very few people gave a shit. They did okay and the nerd crowd went. It wasn't anything big. It definitely wasn't a legendary return or anything like that.
Then the prequels hit and episode 1 was every where. People went nuts for it because it was the real kick off point for CGI. The story didn't matter, people went for the effects and to enjoy the universe/darth maul. People didn't bitch or say it was bad because it fulfilled it's goals as a 90 minute CGI fest. Pod racing was cool, Maul was cool, Jedi were cool. Even the fish segment was considered pretty awesome.
Attack of the clones came out and it did okay. It wasn't any where near the hype of episode 1 but it was still hyped up. People went to see it to see more Star wars and be entertained with special effects again but special effects weren't as unique as episode 1s so it kind of slid down the hype a bit. People's biggest complaint was the movie ending just as the war kicked off.
Episode 3 didn't generate any where near as much hyper as episode 1 but it outdid episode 2. People wanted to see the jedi fight and while it was more of a "I'll pick it up on DVD" movie it was still well received.
A few years back I stumbled across the RLM videos tearing the prequels apart and it was news to me that people didn't like them. They had been pop corn flicks at the time and liked the same way Antman is now. It was like a whole revision of history was happening because people on the internet made shitty videos about them.
Now I look at the hype around old star wars and I see it being made out to be this HUGE EPIC TOTALLY DEFINING SOCIETY franchise that I never saw at any point up until TFA was announced. It influenced special effects with both trilogies and lead to many knock offs but it's a lot like Jurassic park in that aspect. It's visually impressive pop corn fodder not 24 hour a day pride parades in disney land.
What did they mean by this?
Darth Vader's soldiers killed Luke's parent figures.
Darth Vader personally killed Luke's best friend from home.
He tortured Luke's sister.
He tortured Luke's new smuggler best friend.
He cut off Luke's hand.
Despite knowing all of that, Luke decided he was going to risk his life to convert Vader back to the light, and he succeeded.
A couple decades later, his nephew, someone he had seen grow up from childhood, thinks some dark thoughts and Luke can't handle it.
In-universe politics thread (Republic Senate)
Let's at a you're a senator in the Galactic Senate during the clone wars. What political ideas do you promote? What other senators do you associate with? Which ones would you consider rivals/enemies. What do you think of Palpatine? Are you loyal to the Republic, or do you sympathize with the CIS? What political factions do you support (Militarists, Humanocentrists, Rim Faction, Core Faction, etc)? What is your opinion of the Jedi and their role in the Republic?
This Is Actually Terrible
This short film. It's just as awful as everything Disney has done. It's a bunch of explosions with no story, it doesn't sound like Star Wars, and if there weren't X-Wings and Tie Fighters it wouldn't look like Star Wars either.
What's the message of this short? Why are there pink haired girls with piercings in the Empire? Who watches Star Wars and is inspired to create mindless violence?
Announcement
I've been thinking about ways to spice up things on the board with the possibility of holding some kind of event on a weekly or monthly basis depending on its appeal. I've mostly just come up with two.
First idea is basically just holding a Hunger Games thread but with a Star Wars theme and outcomes. For example "Triclops gets his arms ripped off by a rogue wookiee assassin".
Second idea is hosting Podracing events. There are several ways this could work.
1: Another fucking hunger games thread but with podracing outcomes.
2: A thread where we all watch a video of a replay I've recorded of either the PS1 or PS2 podracing games. We all take bets/guesses on which NPC is gonna win before the video is posted. Winner gets to gloat or something.
3: Same as 2 except you all vote on which character I play as then watch me fail miserably or take home the gold.
I'm leaning towards the second idea (and its number 2 variant) at the moment, but I'll gladly take some suggestions. Personally I think 2 and the first idea would work way better if I could offer some sort of prize to the winner/one who picks the winning racer, but there's not really much I can do in terms of options or customization for an anon, and the fact that we're all anons means I can't plaster your name, make your name gold or some shit on the board somewhere. Although I guess I could make a custom flag for the winner based on whatever he chooses.

Why parsecs aren't bullshit and actually work as a measurement of time rather than distance
Parsecs works as a measurement of time. Here's why:
Anyone who knows what a parsec is (3.26 light years) knew Han wasn't bullshitting, and was telling Luke and Obi-wan, that he navigated the falcon through the Deep Core and thus a shit-ton of Black Holes in the shortest distance anyone was recorded to have done it, without dying, in effect telling you that he could navigate Hyperspace better than anyone in the Galaxy. 12 parsecs is 3.26 light years. Han is a fucking speed demon and not a bullshitter or some "short distance" expert like the shitty Solo film would have you believe. Eat it Disneyfags and suck it naysayers who claim Han was bullshitting.
Tam Pozla, The Homosexual Bounty hunter
This is what Disney Wars has to offer in terms of EU.
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Tam_Posla
>Tam Posla was an interstellar lawman and later a bounty hunter. Formally representing the Milvayne Authority, he became Milvaynes most celebrated cop. At some point, he investigated a rash of crimes committed by Doctor Cornelius Evazan and Ponda Baba. Though taken off the case by his superior officer, Posla voyaged well beyond his jurisdiction and, determined to bring the criminals to justice, became a bounty hunter.
Pozla appeared in both Rogue One and Solo. In the comics he was revealed to be a homosexual. He was then killed by evil C-3PO.
Where did the "Prequels are bad" meme come from?
I see it literally everywhere on the internet, and even occasionally on this very board. You even will have EU fans who claim that the Prequels weren't good, they just spawned a lot of good stuff. This narrative seems incredibly forced.
What are all the complaints people have about them?
>hurrr, the acting is bad
It isn't, though, it's intentionally Shakespearean and given an operatic tone to make the movies timeless.
>DUDE CGI LMAO
The Prequels have countless sets and models in them, it's a testament to how good the CGI is that no one realizes that.
>I don't like Anakin!
Really weird complaint, Anakin is a tragic hero and is case study in what can turn a good man bad. From his horrible mentors in the Jedi after Qui Gon died, to his manipulative new father figure in Palpatine, it all makes sense. You simply disliking Anakin doesn't make him a bad character.
>le jar jar
Nothing Jar Jar does is anywhere near as cringe worthy as the endless pop culture references and quips in modern day films.
So what are the other complaints? Really, because everytime I go back and rewatch the Prequels, I like them more.
The Old Republic
Is shit. Knights of the Old Republic, the comics, the books, the MMO, everything from that time period is awful. The technology makes no sense, the factions are all just ripoffs of stuff from the OT and Prequels. Despite taking place thousands of years before the main series, it doesn't contain a single original concept or idea.
It's no surprise that J.J. Abrams favorite Star Wars content is the Old Republic stuff, it matches The Farce Awakens perfectly. If you're an Old Republic fan, you should feel right at home in Disney War's canon.
Just look at the Republic Troopers, they're literally Clone Troopers. It makes no sense at all. Is it really hard to create original designs?
lads, i'm bored. i know on the old board, someone brought up the idea of us re-visiting the EU and doing our own shit, i'd like to attempt to revitalize that idea and form our own comprehensive EU, by picking and choosing the best stuff, leaving out the silly nonsense, and continuing any unfinished storylines, and maybe create some new ones too.
now first, we'll have to compile a definitive list of what's to be our canon. the old rule was that until george made something that would override it, it was basically canon, unless it was like a comic or video game, those were non-canon from the start. however, some of the very best eu material is either a comic or game, so that rule is gonna go out the window and we'll fit in shit where we see fit. also, in the case of say general grievous, we'll obviously go with the shuttle crash and shit like hypori and 2d clone wars (personally i think there exists a possible balance of the 2d and 3d shows).
i know i'm asking a lot since we aren't a very active board, but the last thing i want to do is post this on a pleb board like /tv/ or a pleb fan site like theforce.net, though i'm sure they would be helpful to some extent, i wouldn't want them to have any form of final say or anything.
so, who's down?
Meet… Omi… of the new Disney Canon… She is a stronk, independent and super smart Dianoga (which are now sentient) who can use the force. When her story begins she fights off an evil male Dianoga rapist because her force is just that good. She even foresaw the Death Star exploding! She was then captured by some Vodran hunters who sold her to some stormtroopers who she then killed because she is just that badass. She then freaking drove a spaceship to the death start and made her way into the trash compactor, where she found Han, Luke, Leia and Chewey. She then decided to give them a proper Dianoga baptism, because they could be helpful friends. She was only pretending to try and kill them guys! When Luke escaped, she even sensed that he would bring balance to the Force! She was then reborn as Rey… And idiots like to make fun of the EU because of Skippy the Jedi Droid despite that said shit was just a fucking April Fools story.
THIS IS THE REAL FUCKING DEAL PEOPLE! EVEN THE DEATH STAR'S FUCKING TRASH COMPACTOR DIANOGA WASN'T SAFE!
What are the best stories focusing mainly on Count Dooku? I'm pretty new to this EU stuff, so I kinda wanna start getting into this through him since I liked the character (and pretty much am done with disney) and thought his character could've used way more development in the films and cartoons since he was always just Palpatine's mindless lapdog in said media.
Chuck Wendig BTFO
Revenge against the fat faggot who invited so much aids to the fandom, the novel scene and was basically the Kennedy of the EU, finally begins! Also Kathleen Kennedy got betrayed by her biggest faggot loyalist John Campea and she's in hiding. Shit's hitting the fan.
Journeyman Protector sigil on clone pilot helmet
Has this been spotted before? I've never really seen many pictures of this specifc pilot. He gets blown up shortly after this frame. It's common knowledge that a lot of clones were trained by mandos, but Jango Fett aside, I didn't know this bit of lore was really integrated into the movies too, I always thought it was more of an EU thing. What do you guys think? I turned up the brightness so you can take a better look.

SHE'S NEVER GONNA FUCKING LEAVE?!! What the Hell is wrong with Disney?!
>After turning out three hugely successful Star Wars movies since Disney purchased the franchise years ago, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy is receiving a contract extension to continue shepherding the galaxy far, far away.
>After turning out three hugely successful Star Wars movies
Fuck these bullshit spewing cunts.
So… did Vader remained chaste the rest of his life after Padme's death? Did he had any sex drive remaining? Did he had any moment of joy or satisfaction after being entombed in his armor? Or the dark side really supplied him in that aspect, as it looks like it was the case with Palpatine.
He had at least one fit of dementia, deliring about his wife and was sensible to things that reminded him of her.
Besides letting of the steam over his training droids, what else he did for "fun"?
Let's discuss Vader. What are the best works that depict his view of things? I remember that the last part of RoTS novel, his feelings after being put on his armor and that novel Dark Lord, where he basically suffers from depression throught the whole book. Shadows of Empire also show us some glimpses. But besides that, what do we have?

Star Wars: The Last Jedi' Negative Buzz Amplified by Russian Trolls, Study Finds
Did Star Wars: The Last Jedi destroy the franchise and permanently rupture the fandom as its critics (melodramatically) have accused it of doing? According to a new academic paper by researcher Morten Bay, the answer is clearly no.
The paper, titled Weaponizing The Haters: The Last Jedi and the strategic politicization of pop culture through social media manipulation, examines the online response to 2017’s Last Jedi, a movie that has come to be considered controversial amongst the larger fanbase of the franchise.
Bay suggests that reputation may not be earned, and instead “finds evidence of deliberate, organized political influence measures disguised as fan arguments,” as he writes in the paper’s abstract. He continues, “The likely objective of these measures is increasing media coverage of the fandom conflict, thereby adding to and further propagating a narrative of widespread discord and dysfunction in American society. Persuading voters of this narrative remains a strategic goal for the U.S. alt-right movement, as well as the Russian Federation.”
The paper analyzes in depth the negative online reaction, which is split into three different camps: those with a political agenda, trolls and what Bay calls “real fantagonists,” which he defines as genuine Star Wars fans disappointed in the movie. His findings are fascinating; “Overall, 50.9% of those tweeting negatively [about the movie] was likely politically motivated or not even human,” he writes, noting that only 21.9% of tweets analyzed about the movie had been negative in the first place.
"A number of these users appear to be Russian trolls," Bay writes of the negative tweets.
Moreover, he suggests, complaints about Lucasfilm’s reported politicization of the franchise by many of the disaffected fans says more about the fans than it does Disney or Lucasfilm’s treatment of it. “[S]ince the political and ethical positions presented in the new films are consistent with older films, it is more likely that the polarization of the Trump era has politicized the fans,” Bay argues. “The divisive political discourse of the study period and the months leading up to it, has likely primed these fans with a particular type of political messaging that is in direct conflict with the values presented in The Last Jedi.”
In response to a tweet announcing the release of the paper, Last Jedi director Rian Johnson shared the tweet, adding, “Looking forward to reading it, but what the top-line describes is consistent with my experience online.”
EU Copycats that work
The YT-1300 being a common, 72 year old, ship line really meshes well with Luke's first impression of the Falcon being a "piece of junk". Imagine someone bragging about their sweet car and discovering it's a Toyota Corolla older than the two of you combined.
Twi'leks being slaves and criminals does pair nicely with them being from a world where the only resources of value are people and drugs.
Lightsabers N sheeit
ITT we talk about laser swords.
So what's the deal with synth crystals? I thought they were pretty much Sith-exclusive, not just by tradition but because the Sith were encouraged to channel their hate and anger into the crystals while forging them, meaning you were couldn't create a synth crystal without calling on the dark side. But a while back I was browsing Wookiepedia, and apparently everyone in the NJO uses synthetics? Do they ever try finding the old crystal planets, or discover new ones?

Can canon get any more cringe?
Actual goofy shit in the EU
Normalfags talk about stuff that wasn't even canon to dismiss the EU (Skippy). Let's talk about stuff that actually happened and is goofy.
In Rogue Squadron, Corran Horn goes undercover as a male sex slave. The mission is a success but he's captured and awakens tied up, explicitly naked. As he escapes a Super Star Destroyer, larger than all the land in Bronx county, emerges from under the cityscape of Coruscant (pic related).

Disney Lucasfilm continues to attack fans
Gee its nice to know that Disney and Lucasfilm picked the best and most qualified people to write and manage the Star Wars website. Remember goys, you're not customers. You are overprivileged sheep that need to learn your place.
Disney Wars IX Thread
>Episode IX is underway, filming and as far as we can tell progressing nicely as rumours come out via Movieweb that not only will Episode IX be the longest Star Wars film so far, even longer than the 2.5 hour The Last Jedi, but that the final film in the 9 movie Skywalker cycle could potentially be split into two separate films, a’la the final Harry Potter movie.
>Episode X? That’s the new rumor floating around the outer husk of Star Wars 9 as we enter the second week of production starting tomorrow. Leaks continue to drizzle out of the Lucasfilm base camp, and the latest is that J.J. Abrams and his team are aiming to have the longest film in the franchise with Episode IX. It might be so long, it gets chopped into two movies.
>It is bringing back as many legacy characters as it can fit, with only Han Solo being left out as far as we can tell. Already confirmed to return are Luke Skywalker, General Leia, Chewbacca, Lando Calrissian, C-3PO and R2-D2. We also have the main gang from The Farce Awakens trilogy, including Rey, Finn, Poe, Captain Phasma, Kylo Ren and General Hux. Lesser characters such as Maz Kanata and Unkar Plutt are also said to be back. Then we have Yoda and Obi-Wan returning and it’s heavily rumored that Anakin Skywalker will return in some form, either young or old, in the guise of real-life Hayden Christensen (to appease prequel lovers) or CGI motion capture Sebastian Shaw (to get old school fans pumped).
News sites are saying this piece of crap will be the longest film in the franchise's history and others are saying that the film will be the first to be split into two parts just like Harry Fucking Potter. The motherfuckers at Disney are going to milk this harder than the prize-winning Bantha and get every possible cent it may be worth out of it. Holy fuck.
Ok, what happened to the Twi'lek?
It's like they've completely disappeared from the Star Wars universe since Disney acquired LucasFilms. I know there's Hera in SW Rebels but she's a Disney princess and it's taking place before the OT.
I've also noticed that most of the non-human races are pushed in the background and none of them look like they belong in the Star Wars universe.
Why teleportation was never developed in the GFFA? I just read in the wiki that the Rataka used for an extent, but why the Republic never invested in it? Besides people transportation, it have it's uses in cargo hauling.
Why such practical tech was never put into use? They can build DS and other expensive toys but never something practical as teleport tech.
Rian Johnson deletes 90% of tweets following James Gunn firing.
https://www.cosmicbooknews.com/rian-johnson-deletes-tweets
"Disney recently fired James Gunn from directing Guardians of the Galaxy 3 and severed their relationship with him following disturbing tweets that resurfaced from ten years ago joking about rape and pedophilia.
Now it's learned following Gunn's dismissal that Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson apparently proceeded to delete over 20,000 tweets.
According to Twitter users and a YouTube video below, Rian Johnson had 22.3K tweets, but then deleted them down to around 1,100."

This is going to fall into the public domain in 6 years. Disney is going to try to extend copyright again to stop it. How do we stop it?
What if found Senate candidates (and House candidates that have a chance at 3+ terms) and asked them about this? None of them want to look like a corporate goon if a random guy asks about it, and if they're recorded it's very hard for them to go back on it.
Post Nu-lore you kind of like
>Random Medic Clone Trooper from the TV show
>one of the major arcs had an ARC Trooper discover Order 66
>ARC Trooper tells him about it but dies shortly after
>Medic Trooper starts digging into it and discovers Order 66 aswell
>Dooku finds out and orders his kidnapping and interrogation
>He is captured and put into cyro statis
>The CIS ship that had him gets attacked and crash lands
>The clone trooper is discovered 50 years later and is the last Jango Fett Clone alive.
8canon/Separatist Canon
Practically speaking, what is preventing a dedicated group of artists/autists on this board from establishing a non-cucked, 8ch-approved canon? We curate a list of approved materials (either by council or community vote) from old and new canon, in addition to fanworks that capture the general spirit and follow a certain set of rules.
I think this list is a solid starting point of having good material to draw from while also giving creators enough room to play around:
>KotOR I & II + Restored Content
>l8wrtr's fanedits of the Prequel Trilogy (I haven't seen HAL9000's, but I've heard good things)
>Clone Wars (2D and 3D series)
>Rebels
>Original Theatrical Trilogy
>Dark Forces/Jedi Knight series
There are 3 big problems I can see here:
>fanedits and game mods are in greater danger of disappearing due to not being nearly as widely distributed as official material
>the whole project might be nuked by a DMCA if the Mouse feels threatened
>establishing an approval process that's resistant to infiltration and low-quality work
Star War The Third Gathers: Backstroke of the West
I think to be too is not. I think that the hopeless situation elder also can't. That is a legend. Reaching the man cloth space is the emperor, he is so strong and big, he even can use the original dint to create life… He is very deep to black influence understanding. The black influence can the matter that many supermans, but other people thinks that these are what can't attains. He became more and more strong and big. Lost his power afterwards, afterwards he died. In fact, he teaches own the whole skills all to disciple, then his land killed him to let him going to bed. Satirizing the meaning is, he can let other people, but is incapable for dint to the oneself.
Alternate Histories
What if Qui-Gon survived Maul's attack? Either Obi-wan fell to him instead or they both survived, but Qui-Gon is the one to train Anakin regardless.
I feel that much of what set Anakin up to turn was Obi-wan's teaching method: he was orthodox, generally taking the word of the Council and his superiors at face value, only agreeing to train Anakin out of devotion to his dead Master than any genuine urge to. His frequent chastising of Anakin probably pushed him closer to the father figure that Palpatine represented. If Qui-Gon, who was decidedly less traditional and not afraid to go against the Council taught Anakin, I think there's a chance that he wouldn't have fallen. Qui-Gon would validate Anakin's frustrations with the Council's detachment, instead of alienating him. Anakin would rely on Qui-Gon's cousel and not Palpatine's. Ultimately, he would take a role similar to Luke's, destroying the Sith after Sidious finished the Grand Plan and restoring balance to the Force, the first of the new Jedi.
Thoughts? Other "parallel universe" theories?
Fitting a Round Peg into a Square Hole
Given the massive contradictions between the CGI Clone Wars movie and television show with the the rest of pre-disney Star Wars canon, is there any hope of reconciling that? What would you do if you ended up with the rights to the franchise, and had to resolve those differences between these parts of the EU without axing TCW? all Disney canon excluded obviously
RANK THREAD
>1. Empire Strikes Back
This took what was great about Star Wars and expanded the palette aesthetically and narratively, proving to be the most inspirational Star Wars film.
>2. Revenge of the Sith
George Lucas' best directed film in the Star Wars franchise is perhaps the pinnacle of the Star Wars saga.
>3. Return of the Jedi
Ewoks aside, the first half hour and last half hour contain some of the best Star Wars/Star Wars OT moments.
>4. The Last Jedi
Anything I say here will be memed on.
>5. Attack of the Clones
More ambitious than The Phantom Menace - it reaches high, has more failures and more successes.
>6. The Phantom Menace
The Phantom Menace establishes it's own era pretty well and as a first entry in a trilogy is more enthralling than A New Hope.
>7. A New Hope
Despite being iconic, the other installments for the larger part are better produced and directed, and that's a good thing :^)
>8. The Farce Awakens
The opening five minutes is pretty good. The light-saber fights are shot pretty well, but it's too much of a copypaste design of A New Hope aesthetic wise and beat wise. If the script was truly original and the film's locations were alien and new to the Star Wars franchise, JJ could have possibly directed a memorable entry to Star Wars.
>9. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
Fails to add anything distinct to the Star Wars franchise, despite decent visuals it's largely doing things that were done before and not doing them any better. One good Vader scene and one shitty Vader scene with poor dialogue and audio. The film is largely a mess, Felicity Jones can be jerked to is the only positive.
>10. Solo: A Star Wars Story
The only Star Wars film that most people really never wanted in the first place.
Fun thread
You have been teleported to the Legends/Nu-Universe.
You have all abilities, wealth and tools you have in this world the only difference is you are now within that universe. You are you.
You retain your knowledge and the universe is at the point in which you know the most about it. If you're a clone wars fan, you are at roughly the time of Phantom Menace. If you're a Galactic Empire fan then you're at the time of Knightfall/Order 66. etc etc.
How do you become the emperor/destroy the universe/save the galaxy?
EU Binge
I am thinking about reading the entire Expanded Universe/Legends series of novels in chronological order, starting with Dawn of the Jedi: Into the Void and ending with Crucible.
In the interest of saving a bit of time I'll be skipping the YA novels but will probably include graphic novels like Dark Empire and such. Also gonna play some of the software I've got lying around that I never finished, not necessarily in chronological order (except maybe in the case of KOTOR, since I haven't played that in years and may a refresher it to read through "Revan."
Now before I start this journey…is this a good idea? I've heard a lot of the EU is bad, but how bad? Would I be able to endure such a project and keep my brain intact?
Kennedy's shit getting fucked?
>Iger wants to fire Kennedy, but nobody wants the job because she put too many of her minions to work at Lucasfilm
ARE WE ACTUALLY WINNING?
Is this the fall of Lucasfilm? Can we expect better things? Worse things? Mediocre things? How fucked are we if Filoni does take Kennedy's place? Should the head of Lucasfilm be replaced by a team of two people? A creative director and a business director? Luceno and some finance expert or something? If that happens, can we safely say our shit has been unfucked? Will 2019 be the deciding year for the future of our franchise? We will somehow unfuck it? Force it to rest in peace? Or reduce it to the point where it just makes toys and games but no movies?
General Grievous General
I miss him, lads. He was so badass, the whole thing was, (((modern))) cartoons are gay. Fucking jews infecting the normalcattle mind and inverting their morals.
Grievous was the man, amongst those weak faggots he was the only onw who would fit in 40k
/tg/
>after killing a bunch of Inquisitors and blowing up a skyscraper Imperials have set up guards in front the party's ship in case they're actually bold enough to try escaping this way
>guards backed up by an AT-AT a transport flew in
>at the level this adventure takes place at Move Object can target colossal targets easily
>the drivers are generic and have basically non-existent will defense
>on Coruscant
Has anyone run A Reckoning of Wraiths and not have the AT-AT thrown off the ledge?
The Empire
So it's pretty much agreed that they were the good guys forced into the "bad" role by way of plot, but there are some E.U. stories that make them bad. But in a dumb way. Crystal Star anyone?
Is it safe to ignore shitty E.U. stories like that one that make the Empire a joke?
Fan-edits
Has anyone ever seen one of these, like the Phantom Edit? The only I ever watched is the Despecialized Editions of the OT which were bretty gud.
I wish there was a version that kept the good parts of the special edition, like the 2011 version of Jabba, and removed the bad like the replace Jabba band and the Sentinel landing crafts and CGI stormtroopers that don't fit at all
Clone Wars Timeline
Can someone provide an official timeline of when all the battles and events of the Clone Wars took place? Because I was going through all the material published in regards to that period and there's no way in hell that all of that shit took place in 3 years. Especially when you consider how many of these battles/major events involved Anakin and/or Obi-Wan.
It'd make more sense if it was like 5 or 6 years but sure as shit not 3.
Wreck it Ralph 2: Ralph Wrecks Star Wars
Are you ready for maximum cringe as Disney violates Star Wars to the extreme in their sequel to a movie that was originally about video games? Are you ready for heinous designs? Leia as a member of the Disney Princess line? C3PO as the princess aide? And fucking nu-troopers fighting alongside Muppets?! FUCKING END THE PAIN!
Is there any point in liking Star Wars anymore? Call me a cynical shitlord, but I'm growing more and more disillusioned every day. We all know everything now is run by Disney and we know how bad that is, but even looking backward to the Expanded Universe I'm starting to see many of the "old guard" nowadays propagating pro-Disney support, shilling for Disney on social media, and pushing the same leftist oral diarrhea on the fans and the franchise, and lemme say it, I don't care what someone's politics are, but when they're shoved in my face? Nah man.
I just don't feel any enjoyment anymore. The future of Star Wars is a void, and looking back a lot of what used to be good isn't good now. Is there any good reason to not just give up and stop caring?
Last Jedi Blu-ray
Looks like the Bluray sells are dipping fast for The Last Jedi ever since the whole Kelly Tran controversy over Twitter where Disney majors like Rian Johnson, Chuck Wendig and even Mark Hamill started dissing fans and its been met with a lot of backlash. Even major sites are attacking the fans and SW is going through the grinder. What could this mean for Lucasfilm in the long run? Have they shot themselves in the foot with a 12 gauge?
A video on the blu-ray sells: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jUMgyra-jdI
Ep 9 (new leaks)
After Soylo tanked at the box office there's now a second script written for Ep 9.
>Starts 5 years later, Rey has turned the Galaxy against Kylo and the opening scene is his last stand.
>She takes him to Jedi temple at capital planet which has a secret dark temple below. She asks Kylo to join him, he realizes Snoke was a spirit who possesses people and is now possessing Rey. Why wrinkly guy from 8&9 didnt matter just a body. Rey is nobody, all her powers came from Snoke.
>Kylo escapes and much of the movie is a "fugitive chase" film. Luke's ghost helps him, revealing failure to be Kylos most important lesson.
>Phasma is back, leads fleet with Rey's lover Poe against her, amends with Finn.
>Final battle on Vader's castle world. Kylo led by awesome concept of Vader/Anakin ghost who changes based on shade/light. Learns "the balance". Forges Vader and blue Anakin/Luke sabres into one. Fights Rey until she has the power to purge Snoke from love for him. Rebuild grey Jedi order, establish galactic order with no central rule. Sets stage for whatever stories they want to tell next.
>Execs want Billy Dee back for a great cameo i wont spoil but nothing is negotiated. Will include specific "i don't roll that way" hetero comment.
EA Conference
In case anyone's interested, I've decided to play the E3 livestream in our cytube so anyone here can watch the EA conference and see how they'll rape SW this time. And also because, as we all know, /v/'s E3 cytube will likely get incredibly crowded as E3 begins, so feel free to post here if you want something less overpopulated.
The Shills Strike Back
As Solo begins to falter, Disney shills decide to attack the EU and mock those who dislike Solo on any ground. The irony is that they're using stuff from Disney Canon to prove how much better their nu-EU is but its only helping to make them look worse.
About RLM
So, I've noticed that the overall reception of RLM and their take on Star Wars is pretty negative on that board. While I think this is perfectly understandable, and they're certainly not above criticism, I think they're treated a bit unfairly. Let me explain:
>inb4 shill thread
To get a few things out of the way first:
1) I do think that most of the criticism they leveled at the prequels are valid, they really blew it out of proportion. I also think that at least some of it can be attributed to comedic effect.
2) I'm certain that they played a major part in turning a large part of the fanbase against George Lucas. It was probably not their intention, though.
3) While I found their verdict on TFA (as well as the Plinkett Review) a bit baffling, I think some of it can be explained without bringing Disney money into it.
4) I'm not going to discuss the Plinkett reviews in detail in this post, but feel to do so.
5) The reviews are overpraised.
6) This thread isn't about trying to make you like them.
I think the consensus is that the prequels, while flawed, are not bad movies per se and are a great addition to the Star Wars mythos. So, why do I think Stoklasa was so harsh on them? It's simple, really. Stoklasa is not really a Star Wars fan. That's evident from the reviews, where he mentions that he has no interest in the EU material, he directly states that he doesn't read any of the novels and doesn't play any of the video games. He just likes the movies as a trilogy of competently made, greatly written and well-produced, overall fantastic Science Fantasy movies, while fans like us appreciate the mythos and the universe, to which the prequels were an overall great addition, as I've said. As movies themselves, however, they were flawed in many terms, which is what I think is the reason for his dislike.
So, why the positive reception to TFA? I think that's also simple. While I personally hated the movie, I do have to concede that it's for the most part competently made and, with some exceptions, follows the template of how a Star Wars movie works pretty well. I think it's entirely possible that that was enough for him to like it, along with buying into the hype of seeing a new Star Wars film that followed the OT more than the prequels. Further evidence of that would be his negative reaction to Rogue One, which was obvious soyboy fanbait with shit characters, and TLJ, which was a total mess, both in terms of filmmaking in general (and Star Wars films in particular).
As I see it, people kind of look to Stoklasa as some kind of Star Wars guru, which he certainly isn't. Again, he's not even a real Star Wars fan. While I still personally find his perspective interesting, even when I'm disagreeing with him, people should stop treating him as some sort of expert on Star Wars movies. That includes his fans as well as his detractors. He's just a guy who knows a bit about filmmaking, and who loves the original Star Wars trilogy, but without a deeper understanding of the mythos or universe.
Or he's just a Disney shill.
tl;dr: I think when it comes to Star Wars, y'all should stop shitting on RLM. You just should stop giving a shit about what they think because Stoklasa doesn't really know what he's talking about beyond technical film stuff.
So its just as I suspected. Vocal minorities are trying to blame Solo's failure on not being diverse enough and having a cishet white male lead rather than acknowledging that its just plain bad. Humorously enough, they're cannibalizing their ally Kennedy for not being even more inclusive and making PoexFinn canon. How long until Kennedy herself agrees and publicly blames Solo's failure on the fact that it had a male lead, and SW shouldn't focus on men, period?
