Wray made the revelation in an interview with Fox News aired on June 24.

While he isn’t identified by name in the report by the Department of Justice Inspector General (IG), Kevin Clinesmith was the FBI attorney who altered an email about Page’s association with the CIA by injecting “not a source” into the text, making it appear as though Page wasn’t affiliated with the spy agency.

Clinesmith’s alteration resulted in one of the “17 significant errors and omissions” identified by the IG in the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) applications on Page.

“And that individual no longer works with the FBI, and I don’t want to get out in front of the Durham investigation,” Wray said, referring to the criminal inquiry being conducted by U.S. Attorney John Durham, who is looking into potential criminality tied to Crossfire Hurricane, the codename for the FBI’s probe of the Trump campaign.

After learning of Clinesmith’s email forgery, a judge on the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court ordered the FBI to identify all of the surveillance applications Clinesmith was involved in. The court also barred Clinesmith from participating in the preparation of future FISA applications.

Council advances plan to dismantle Minneapolis Police Dept

The Minneapolis City Council on Friday unanimously approved a radical proposal to change the city charter that would allow the police department to be dismantled, following mass public criticism of law enforcement over the killing of George Floyd.

The 12-0 vote is just the first step in a process that faces significant bureaucratic obstacles to make the November ballot, where the city’s voters would have the final say. And it came amid a spate of recent shootings in Minnesota’s largest city that have heightened many citizens’ concerns about talk of dismantling the department.

The Minneapolis force has come under heavy pressure since Floyd, a Black man in handcuffs, died May 25 after a police officer pressed his knee on Floyd’s neck for nearly eight minutes. Activists had long accused the department of being unable to change a racist and brutal culture, and earlier this month, a majority of the council proclaimed support for dismantling the department.

Doing so would first require amending the city charter. Draft language of the amendment posted online would replace the department with a Department of Community Safety and Violence Prevention, “which will have responsibility for public safety services prioritizing a holistic, public health-oriented approach.”

The amendment goes on to say the director of the new agency would have “non-law-enforcement experience in community safety services, including but not limited to public health and/or restorative justice approaches.” It also provides for a division of licensed peace officers, who would answer to the department’s director.

Texas and Florida ordered bars to stop serving alcohol on site Friday amid a record-breaking surge in COVID-19 cases in both states, as the White House coronavirus task force was set to hold its first public briefing in almost two months.

The two populous southern states, home to some 50 million people, were spared the worst of the outbreak in spring but are now being struck hard.

The United States, already the hardest-hit country in the world with close to 125,000 deaths, never fully emerged from its first wave. Following a weeks-long plateau, new cases are once again back to where they were in April.

“At this time, it is clear that the rise in cases is largely driven by certain types of activities, including Texans congregating in bars,” said Texas Governor Greg Abbott, a Republican ally of President Donald Trump.

As a result, bars will be required to close but may continue providing delivery and take-out services. Other measures include that restaurants can remain open with 50 percent capacity indoors, and outdoor gatherings of 100 people or more require local government approval.

Texas was among the most aggressive states in reopening in early June after months of lockdown. But the strategy has backfired: the state saw a record of 5,596 new coronavirus cases Thursday, a major jump from just 10 days ago, when the state had only 1,254 new cases in a day.

Mother Of Atlanta Cop Charged With Murder Fired For "Creating An Uncomfortable Workplace"

The stepmother of an Atlanta police officer who was charged with murder this week was fired from her job.

The company said in a statement that “it is imperative to maintain a safe environment for all employees.”

“Melissa Rolfe’s termination was a direct result of her actions in the workplace and violation of company policy,” Equity added. “While working with Melissa as she transitioned to a leave of absence granted by our organization, we discovered she violated company policy and created an uncomfortable working environment for many of our employees.”

Rolfe “ultimately lost the confidence of her peers, leadership, and many employees who no longer felt comfortable engaging with her,” the company continued. When employees’ views “create a hostile working environment,” they can be fired, it said.

Equity confirmed the firing following a report from Fox News’ Tucker Carlson.

On his show Thursday night, Carlson cited a source and said Rolfe was fired.

“Apparently, she was fired and her only crime was being Officer Rolfe’s stepmother,” he said.

Rolfe was told previously that her job was safe, according to the source.

The radical enclave in Seattle known as the Capitol Hill Occupied Protest (CHOP) will apparently feature a Juneteenth celebration on Friday that will be restricted to black people, while white people are being asked to provide security and donations. Fox News reported Friday that the CHOP, formerly known as the “CHAZ” (for Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone), would be entirely closed to white people. However, it appears that the segregation is only taking place in Cal Anderson Park. A Facebook page for the event, called “Juneteenth Blackout at the CHOP,”details the plans for the 12-hour observance: We’re blacking out CHOP…the viral death of black bodies was the catalyst for this current movement and we need to make sure we remain focused. This means both policy and systemic change to our systems and healing space for black people. So that’s exactly what we’re creating. A series of events in which we center black healing and community. What we need from our non-black allies are donations of money and supplies and the willingness to support by quietly protecting sacred space for black healing. We need allies on the outskirts who are willing to be a physical barrier of protection and to peacefully deter potential interruptions. We will be socially distancing. Please wear masks. Montana governor Steve Bullock kicked off his Senate campaign by claiming that he "won't answer to party bosses," just months after reports emerged that the Democrat bowed to pressure from Chuck Schumer (D., N.Y.) to break his pledge not to run in 2020.

Bullock emphasized in his first TV ad that he would not be beholden to party leaders after bowing to pressure from top Democrats to jump in the race. Though Bullock repeatedly dismissed a Senate bid during his unsuccessful presidential campaign—it was "something that never really got me excited," he said—Bullock buckled after closed-door meetings in February with Schumer and former president Barack Obama.

The Montana governor campaigned as a centrist when he was elected in 2012, but embraced several left-wing positions during his ill-fated presidential campaign. In June 2019, for example, Bullock flipped on his long-standing support for the state's coal plants, citing a U.N. recommendation to transition away from the energy source. He also expressed support for an assault weapons ban.

Apparently unsatisfied with being allowed to create their own autonomous zone around the Seattle police department's abandoned East Precinct, far-left protesters on Sunday night made their way over to the police department's West Precinct, where they chanted and made speeches, the Seattle Times reported.

"It is not CHAZ, it is CHOP!" one speaker barked into a megaphone, a reference to the previous acronym of the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone, which apparently is now known as the Capitol Hill Organized Protest, the paper said.

Then the speaker reminded his comrades of deadly retribution delivered amid a well-known historical revolt.

"Has anybody here ever heard of the French Revolution before?" he asked before noting it began "because people started putting property over lives! They started putting money over people! Does anybody here know what happened to the people who did not get on board with the French Revolution?"

"Chopped!" the crowd shouted back several times.

"That is the message we need to send! We are serious! This is not a joke!" the speaker continued. "I'm tired of seeing my people be genocided by every definition of the word."

Indian city Chennai reimposes lockdown amid flurry of new coronavirus cases

Authorities in the Tamil Nadu state capital Chennai are imposing a new 12-day strict lockdown amid a resurgence in coronavirus cases in the region. The new measures will begin from June 19.

Chennai city and three neighboring districts will reimpose lockdown measures for 12 days including two full days of complete lockdown

“Considering the spread of the virus and based on the recommendation of medical and health experts, an intense lockdown will be in force from 00.00hours of June 19 and midnight of June 30," chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami said in a statement Monday.

The local government will provide Rs 1,000 ($13.15) cash support for all residents dependent on ration cards as well as other unspecified relief to help those struggling during the lockdowns.

All state and central government offices will function at 33 percent capacity while travel will be permitted only in the event of medical emergencies. Those living within containment zones will be exempted from work for the duration.

Meanwhile, shops providing essential groceries will be permitted to remain open for limited hours while restaurants will be permitted to provide takeaway and delivery services.

As of Sunday, Tamil Nadu had a reported 44,661 Covid-19 cases, 31,896 of which were recorded in Chennai. The state has recorded some 435 deaths, however, many have claimed the figures have been underreported and the figure is expected to rise.

West Point Mourns the Passing of C.J. Morgan

Cadet Christopher J. Morgan, Class of 2020 and member of the wrestling team, died due to injuries sustained from a military vehicle accident in the U.S. Military Academy's training area.

"Cadet C.J. Morgan was a valued member of the Corps of Cadets and will be missed by all. "We are devastated by the news of Chris' passing. He was a talented, hardworking, and determined athlete who loved his sport," said Army West Point wrestling coach Kevin Ward. "Chris had an infectious personality with a smile big enough to fill any room, and a heart big enough to love everyone around him. He made everyone around him better and he will be greatly missed."

15 People Died In The Protests And Riots Following George Floyd’s Death. Here’s Who They Are

The killing of George Floyd has reverberated across the world, with protests reaching across the Atlantic.

Floyd died after a Minneapolis police officer, Derek Chauvin, knelt on his neck for nine minutes. A video of the incident sparked national outrage. Chauvin has since been fired and charged with second-degree murder, an elevation from the original third-degree murder charge.

While many protests following his death remained peaceful, in cities like Minneapolis, Washington, D.C. and New York City, violence erupted and led to looting, vandalism and buildings set ablaze.

Violence consumed countless mom-and-pop businesses, many owned by minorities and immigrants, leaving behind a desert of small business, with little recourse but to plead for the public to donate to online fundraising campaigns. Insurance is not a panacea for destruction caused by looting in most of these cases.

Some have downplayed the looting and violence. Politicians, along with sympathetic members of the national media, lined up to apologize or justify the destruction. Seattle Councilmember Tammy Morales said “what I don’t want to hear is for our constituents to be told to be civil, not to be reactionary, to be told that looting doesn’t solve anything” at a council session Monday.

Sally Kohn, a liberal political commentator, tweeted: “Property is insured and can be replaced. Lives cannot. Check your priorities, America.”
