Seven men arrested near Bondi Beach as Australian police foil suspected terrorist attack

Seven people were arrested near Bondi Beach on Thursday over what authorities believe was a second planned terrorist attack, just days after Islamic State group-affiliated gunmen massacred over a dozen Hanukkah celebrants.

Australian counterterrorism officers rammed two vehicles en route to Bondi Beach. Police said seven people in total were arrested on the spot over what they believe was a suspected terrorism plot, possibly targeting funeral proceedings or memorials for those killed in the Sunday massacre.

The two vehicles were intercepted a few streets apart, with five passengers taken from one and two from the other. Sources familiar with the investigation told the Sydney Morning Herald that a weapon may have been found in one of the cars. The group was reportedly flagged because they were known to authorities.

Heavily armed police dressed in camouflage and tactical gear intercepted the two cars. Footage showed the suspects detained with zip ties, with some injured and bleeding.

New South Wales police said in a statement that the operation had concluded and the public was safe. “Police have not identified any connection to the current police investigation of the Bondi terror attack,” it said, adding that the operation was carried out over “information received that a violent act was possibly being planned.”

Beanbag rounds were used in the operation, Nine News reported, noting holes in the windshield of one of the cars.

The arrests were carried out as Australia reels from the worst terrorist attack in its modern history. Two ISIS-affiliated gunmen opened fire at a Hanukkah celebration, killing 15 and wounding 40. One of the gunmen was killed, and the other was wounded.

The report, which was based on an investigation launched by former House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes, R-Calif., was dated Sept. 18, 2020. At the time of the publication of the report, Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., was the chairman of the committee.

The report has never before been released to the public, and instead, has remained highly classified within the intelligence community.

Fox News Digital obtained the "fully-sourced limited-access investigation report that was drafted and stored in a limited-access vault at CIA Headquarters." The report includes some redactions.

The committee focused on the creation of the Intelligence Community Assessment of 2017, in which then-CIA Director John Brennan pushed for the inclusion of the now-discredited anti-Trump dossier, despite knowing it was based largely on "internet rumor," as Fox News Digital previously reported.

According to the report, the ICA was a "high-profile product ordered by the President, directed by senior IC agency heads, and created by just five CIA analysts, using one principal drafter."

"Production of the ICA was subject to unusual directives from the President and senior political appointees, and particularly DCIA," the report states. "The draft was not properly coordinated within CIA or the IC, ensuring it would be published without significant challenges to its conclusions."

The committee found that the five CIA analysts and drafter "rushed" the ICA’s production "in order to publish two weeks before President-elect Trump was sworn-in."

Europa Clipper Observed 3I/ATLAS Near Perihelion

December 18, 2025

NASA’s Europa Clipper spacecraft observed the interstellar object 3I/ATLAS on November 6, 2025, from a distance of 164 million kilometers.

During an observing period of seven hours, the Europa Ultraviolet Spectrograph (UVS) instrument recorded data on the abundances of various elements in the gas plume surrounding the nucleus of 3I/ATLAS.

A false-color image was obtained by stacking the brightness maps at multiple UV wavelengths. The image is extremely valuable in constraining the anti-tail and tail geometry of 3I/ATLAS near perihelion.

Europa Clipper observed 3I/ATLAS when Earth-based observations were largely blocked by the Sun’s position.

With 3I/ATLAS passing between Europa Clipper and the Sun, the vantage point of Clipper’s observations provided a unique perspective.

The sunward viewpoint provided a downstream view of the anti-tail and tail stemming out of the nucleus of 3I/ATLAS when it went close to the Sun.

Europa-UVS detected the spectral fingerprints of oxygen, hydrogen and dust from the outgassing of 3I/ATLAS near perihelion.

Europa Clipper was launched from Earth in October 2024, and is expected to arrive near Jupiter in April 2030, where it will study Jupiter’s frozen moon Europa — inside of which a subsurface liquid ocean might support life.

Clipper will orbit Jupiter and perform 49 close flybys of Europa.

Following the rendezvous with Europa Clipper, 3I/ATLAS will arrive closest to Jupiter as early as March 16, 2026, demonstrating how fast it is relative to a human-made spacecraft.

In a TV interview today, I expressed my wish to board a fast interstellar traveler like 3I/ATLAS so that it would carry me out of the solar system faster than human-made spacecraft. Ad Astra!

The Supreme Court looks likely to rulethat President Donald Trump can fire Federal Trade Commission member Rebecca Kelly Slaughter.

A ruling for the administration would erode long-standing protections for independent agencies and could expand presidential control over federal regulators.

It could also unsettle other agencies and trigger further legal battles over removal powers, including separate cases involving the Federal Reserve.

Justice Sonia Sotomayor said, “You’re asking us to destroy the structure of government and to take away from Congress its ability to protect its idea that the government is better structured with some agencies that are independent.”

“There’s no such thing in our constitutional order as a fourth branch of government that’s quasi-judicial and quasi-legislative,”Justice Neil Gorsuch said.
