European states are reportedly considering retaliatory tariffs and broader punitive economic counter-measures against the U.S. after President Donald Trump threatened fresh export levies, deepening a rift over Greenland.

Trump announced Saturday that eight European countries would face increasing tariffs, starting at 10% on Feb. 1 and rising to 25% on June 1, if a deal is not reached allowing Washington to acquire Greenland, the mineral-rich island which is a semi-autonomous territory of Denmark.

The proposed tariffs would target Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the U.K, the Netherlands and Finland. The duties would come on top of existing export tariffs to the U.S., currently standing at 10% for the U.K. and 15% for the EU.

Regional diplomats held an emergency meeting in Brussels on Sunday afternoon to discuss their response to Trump’s threat to escalate tariffs, with France reportedly pushing for the EU to use its strongest economic counter-threat to the U.S., known as the “Anti-Coercion Instrument” (ACI).

The much-vaunted instrument is seen as a nuclear option when it comes to economic counter-measures as it could see the EU restrict U.S. suppliers’ access to the EU market, excluding them from participation in public tenders in the bloc, as well as putting export and import restrictions on goods and services and putting potential limits on foreign direct investment in the region.

Despite being seen as a “big bazooka” against Trump’s tariffs playbook, it has not been used before, and regional leaders have already said they want to pursue dialogue with the U.S. in the coming days to resolve the rift over Greenland.

The Financial Times reported that the EU was contemplating imposing 93 billion euros ($108 billion) worth of tariffs, as well as considering the use of the ACI.

Shares of some of Europe’s biggest carmakers fell sharply on Monday morning, following U.S. President Donald Trump’s pledge to impose tariffs on several European countries over Greenland.

Europe’s Stoxx Automobiles and Parts index traded 2% lower at around 1:02 p.m. London time (8:02 a.m. ET), paring losses from earlier in the session.

Germany’s Volkswagen, BMW and Mercedes-Benz Group stood between 2.5% to 3% lower, while Milan-listed shares of Ferraridipped around 2.2%, notching a 52-week low. Germany’s Porschfell 3.2% on the news. Milan-listed shares of Stellantis which owns household names including Jeep, Dodge, Fiat, Chrysler, and Peugeot, were last seen 1.8% lower. The moves come shortly after Trump on Saturday pledged to impose 10% tariffs on the U.K., Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the Netherlands, and Finland by Feb. 1, ramping up his push to make Greenland, a self-governing Danish territory, part of the United States.

Mostly because it’s a very global economy these days and people find a way around it even if they can’t talk themselves out of them,” Rob Brewis, director and investment manager at Aubrey Capital Management, told CNBC’s “Europe Early Edition” on Monday.“Clearly, the tariffs created a huge stir back in April last year but ever since then, their impact diminishes with time and with repeated use, I guess,” he added.

Asked which European sectors were likely most exposed to Trump’s latest tariff threats, Brewis singled out the automotive industry.“My focus is more on emerging markets, so I spend less time on Europe, but I think it’s unhelpful for sectors like the car sector, which is already facing huge threats from the Chinese players,” he added.

Democratic strategist and CNN regular Julie Roginsky launched a ferocious public broadside against Scott Jennings, one of the network’s most prominent conservative voices,in an attack she admitted will “probably” get her “banned” from future appearances.

Roginsky unloaded on Jennings in a viral blog post, torching him for “how he behaves” and “what he contributes”while also accusing CNN of promoting bad-faith punditry. The pair, who have both appeared on CNN NewsNight have clashed on multiple occasions.

In the piece published to Substack on Monday, she openly acknowledged the professional risk of speaking out, starting with: “I’m fairly confident that this column will get me banned from CNN’s airwaves.”

“CNN once sold itself as the grown-up in the room. It was the network you turned to when the stakes got real.That reputation – earned over decades – was built on restraint, seriousness, and a basic respect for viewers,” she wrote. “Which is why CNN’s continued reliance on Scott Jennings is not just baffling, but corrosive to its brand.” (WTF CNN has been at the bottom for years and years)

While backing the idea that the network should “rightly” platform conservatives, she accused Jennings of failing to engage in “spirited debate” and instead a performance.

“On air, Jennings does not debate; he blathers. He talks over women with particular frequency, interrupts relentlessly, and treats panel discussions as contests of volume and obstinacy, rather than as exchanges of ideas. He mugs to the camera and rolls his eyes, while calling any fact he does not like a lie. It is performative obstruction – the cable news equivalent of flipping the board when you’re losing the game,” she wrote.

Roginsky followed by arguing that CNN “once prided itself on fact-checking in real time” but said the network now “lets falsehoods linger in the air, unanswered, as long as they are delivered with sufficient bluster.” KEK!

Attacking Jennings, she described him as “an insecure little boy” who takes to social media after his panel appearances and “selectively edits clips to make it look like he “owned” whomever he was debating.” She added that he was “too chickensh*t to post the whole segment that would expose the truth.”

Her criticism quickly widened from Jennings to CNN’s editorial judgment. Roginsky challenged the network to ask: “What is Scott Jennings adding that could not be accomplished by any number of conservative analysts who are capable of making arguments without bad-faith theatrics?”

Roginsky argued, without providing names, that female panelists had noticed a “pattern” of being “suddenly never invited back” after “embarrassing” Jennings before issuing a stark warning about the network’s institutional credibility.

“CNN’s legacy is not guaranteed,” she wrote, arguing that continuing to platform figures like Jennings amounts to “a choice to debase discourse, excuse bad behavior, and signal that being loud matters more than being right.”

As the Substack post circulated, Roginsky later added on X: “I think Scott Jennings is extra hurt because this is going pretty viral tonight.” (Kek)

So when somebody comes from Somalia or somebody comes from Mexico or somebody comes from China, they are bringing with them not only themselves, their family and their culture. They’re also bringing with them political networks. And these political networks are hostile to the United States. I quote extensively in the book from people from all three of those areas, how they view mass migration as a way of fundamentally transforming America. So we have sealed the border, which is vitally important. But these networks and these radicals continue to operate inside the United States.”

He added, “And as I document in the book, government officials from Mexico, individuals from China, from the Muslim Brotherhood, they are responsible for a lot of the chaos in our streets, the violent anti-ICE protests, the other protests that we’ve seen taking place. This is an organized effort to undermine America.So we need to think not just about immigration as an issue, but about weaponized immigration and how our foreign adversaries are using it against us.”

An Axios correspondent has claimed that Kirill Dmitriev will hold talks with Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner in Switzerland

Russian presidential envoy Kirill Dmitriev will meet with the US delegation on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Reuters has reported, citing informed sources.

Axios correspondent Barak Ravid claimed in a post on X that Dmitriev will hold talks with US President Donald Trump’s envoy Steve Witkoff and the American leader’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, in the Swiss city on Tuesday. The sides will discuss the US president’s plan to settle the Ukraine conflict, according to Ravid’s sources.

The Russian Embassy in Switzerland said last week that it has not received any official invitations addressed to Russian officials, business people or journalists to attend the event in Davos. The country’s representatives have been barred from WEF since the escalation between Moscow and Kiev in 2022.

Dmitriev has visited the US several times since Trump took office a year ago, where he has negotiated ways to restore bilateral ties and stop the fighting between Moscow and Kiev. His latest trip took place in December, when he held two days of talks with Witkoff and Kushner. Both sides described the talks as “constructive.”

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said last week that the Russian authorities are looking forward to another visit by Witkoff and Kushner to Moscow. The date has not yet been set, Peskov noted. Bloomberg claimed earlier, citing sources, that the trip could happen this month.

Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Witkoff six times in 2025, according to Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

Kiev’s top negotiator Rustem Umerov said on Sunday that talks with the Americans on finding a diplomatic solution to the Ukraine conflict will continue at the World Economic Forum (WEF), which is being held between Monday and Friday.

Trump, who addressed the WEF via video link in 2025, is expected to attend the high-profile gathering in person this time.

Last week, Trump said that he believes Zelensky is responsible for stalling the peace process. “I just think he’s... having a hard time getting there. I think [Putin] is ready to make a deal… I think Ukraine is less ready to make a deal.”

n his address to foreign ambassadors on Thursday, Putin said that Moscow “seeks a lasting sustainable peace [with Ukraine] that secures safety for each and every one.” He warned previously that Russia is capable of achieving all its goals through military means if Kiev continues to reject diplomacy.

General Flynn shared a video of Thomas Sowell discussing the events he expects to see in 2026, arguing that it was essential to wait to ensure that all cases against corrupt and criminal Deep State actors were ready before indictments were issued.

When US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said that the US needed Greenland ‘because Europe is weak’, he ruffled a lot of feathers, but he is essentially right.

In the wake of renewed moves by the Donald J. Trump administration towards gaining control of the Arctic Island that presently belongs to the Kingdom of Denmark, Europe erupted, and vowed to defend Greenland.

Troops were sent! 15 French, 13 Germans, 2 Norwegians, 2 Finns, and 1 Briton.

If that was not ridiculous enough, we learn that the 15 German ‘heroes’ suddenly left the island ‘without explanation’.

The New Voice of Ukraine reported:

“The group flew out of Nuuk Airport aboard an Icelandair Boeing 737, according to the outlet.

Just a day earlier, reports had suggested that the German soldiers would extend their stay. Instead, they quietly left the island without notifying local authorities or making their departure public, Bild said.

A mission spokesperson did not respond to multiple requests for comment, and officials in Berlin also declined to explain the move.

According to the report, the withdrawal order came from Berlin on the morning of Jan. 18. The soldiers received no reasoning — just a directive to return home— forcing them to cancel all scheduled meetings. Their flight was booked for noon, meaning they spent just 44 hours in Greenland between landing and takeoff.”

The Bundeswehr later stated that ‘the soldiers have left Greenland as mission concludes’.

What mission? They changed a couple of lightbulbs? What could they accomplish in 44 hours?

Deutsche Welle reported:

“The German reconnaissance team that arrived in Greenland on Friday is departing the Danish territory as planned.

Fifteen soldiers were leaving the Arctic island on a civilian flight to Copenhagen on Sunday midday. The deployment was scheduled from the start to last only a few days and came at the request of Denmark.

The team was meant to assess conditions for possible NATO exercises, with the spokesman of the command control center having said Sunday that the mission was completed. ‘The results of the reconnaissance will be analyzed in the coming days’.”

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt sternly warned a CBS crew last week that Trump would sue the network if it did not air a recent interview in its entirety, unedited.

“We’ll sue your ass off,” she told them.

While President Trump was visiting Detroit, Michigan, to tour a Ford plant and deliver remarks to the Detroit Economic Club on Tuesday, he sat for a 13-minute interview with CBS anchor Tony Doukoupil, during which the President trolled Doukoupil, telling him he’d be out of a job if Kamala Harris won in 2024.

“If she got in, you probably wouldn’t have a job right now,” Trump said while explaining that he inherited a dead country and turned it into the “hottest country in the world.” “You wouldn’t have this job, you wouldn’t have this job, certainly whatever the hell they’re paying you,” he continued. “We would be Venezuela on steroids.”

After the interview, Leavitt reportedly approached the CBS team and Doukoupil with a message from the President.

“He said, ‘Make sure you guys don’t cut the tape, make sure the interview is out in full,’” Leavitt told them, to which Doukoupil replied, “Yeah, we’re doing it, yeah,” according to a side conversation caught on tape and obtained by the New York Times.

Leavitt fired back, “He said, ‘If it’s not out in full, we’ll sue your ass off,’” which was apparently not taken too seriously at first, with some members of the team thinking it was a joke.

Executive producer of CBS Evening News,Kim Harvey, responded to the threat, telling Leavitt, “Oh, great, OK!” and Doukoupil chimed in, humorously saying, “He always says that!”

But according to the report, Leavitt did not laugh.

CBS later said in a statement, “The moment we booked this interview, we made the independent decision to air it unedited and in its entirety.”

Leavitt told the New York Times, “The American people deserve to watch President Trump’s full interviews, unedited, no cuts. And guess what? The interview ran in full.”

Trump has sued several media organizations since taking office, including CBS’s former parent company, Paramount, last year, over its edited 60 Minutes interview with Kamala Harris. After the suit was settled, Paramount was sold to David Ellison’s Skydance.

Nigerian King Must Pay $72k Restitution For Defrauding NC Medicaid During Pandemic

Ekelekamchukwu Alphonsus Ngwadom, 61, received a suspended sentence requiring three years probation and $72,014.66 in restitution after pleading guilty to twenty-seven felonies in regards to hundreds of Medicaid claims for children’s therapy he fraudulently filed in 2020 and 2021 at his Raleigh practice, Almarch Counseling. (¹, ², ³)

It was during this same period that Ngwadom was crowned King or “Eze” of the Mbubu-Amiri kingdom in Nigeria’s Imo State, according to a local news source which also identified him as the Chairman of African Diaspora Coalition of North Carolina and Professor of Psychology and Sociology at the University of Mount Olive. (There are many such “traditional rulers“ recognized by and holding limited power under the Federal Republic of Nigeria).

Ngwadom is listed as the Director of Partnerships and Development for Nigerian Mental Health Practitioners USA and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Nigeria-American Institute for Mental Health.

Records show Ngwadom resides at a Garner address and has voted in Johnston County since 2008.

Investigation and prosecution

According to a search warrant obtained by the Medicaid Investigation Division of the North Carolina Department of Justice, Ngwadom’s practice was flagged by Alliance Health, the manager of the NC Medicaid plan for counties including Wake, Johnston, and Durham.

Ngwadom’s fraud was revealed when a legitimate claim for therapy was submitted for one of the children for which he had filed fraudulent claims, and it was discovered that the family had never received services from Ngwadom or Almarch Counseling.

In the ensuing investigation into the “overlapping services,” a total of 210 fraudulent claims were identified involving children from three families who never receiving services from Ngwadom or Almarch Counseling:

fifty-two claims for two minor children for a total of $3,037.28

one hundred and three claims for three minor children for a total of $8,476.88

fifty-five claims for two minor children for a total of $3,529.46

At sentencing, the state prosecutor explained that Ngwadom had met these families through an after-school program in the years prior to the pandemic, as reported by the News & Observer.

The second demo will be how the recent arrest of Nicolás Maduro leads to revelations of the globalist conspiracy to interfere in elections here, there, and everywhere. Señor Maduro sold his Smartmatic system to all comers, and you can bet that the plea bargain talks are already underway in Brooklyn (if not already concluded). Russia has been invited to take part in the new US-backed 'Peace Board' put forward by President Donald Trump to oversee post-conflict governance and reconstruction in Gaza, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has announced, in a somewhat surprising and hugely symbolic diplomatic move and overture.

Peskov told reporters Monday that President Vladimir Putin had received an invitation through diplomatic channels. "We are studying the details of the proposal. We hope to hold contacts with the US side to clarify all the nuances," he said, but did not disclose any additional details.

The Putin invitation has yet to be publicly acknowledged by Washington, and Western mainstream media is likely to go into a frenzy over it. Press reports have highlighted that Putin was invited to oversee 'peace' but is still active in directing the Ukraine invasion.

For example, The Guardian frames the peace board as but a Trump vanity project, writing "The invitation to Putin, which has yet to be confirmed by Washington, raises more questions about the intended agenda for the board. It was originally part of Trump’s ceasefire proposals for the Gaza war, and was supposed to oversee the transition to a lasting peace in the territory and supervise the work of a committee of Palestinian experts, also announced last week, who would take care of the day-to-day running of Gaza."

The report adds, "The vaguely described scheme was endorsed in a UN security council resolution in November" - and draws parallels to the desire to takeover Greenland, which is intent to "cement Trump’s place in the history books."

Invitations have been sent to a broad group of countries in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, including US allies and key regional players. Already, countries and leaders as different and geographically distant as Hungary under Prime Minister Viktor Orban and Vietnamese Communist Party chief To Lam have accepted their invitations.

It is shaping up to be a 'mini UN' of sorts, as the peace board plan calls for an international council to manage reconstruction financing, security coordination, and political cooperation in Gaza - all while working in cooperation with a Palestinian technocratic administration.

“I’m pretty sure the sluts are gonna save us,” Instagram influencer Jess Olivia Fox said in a recent video.

She is referring to the folks at Minneapolis sex shop Smitten Kitten, who have mobilized to support neighbors amid a violent and unrelenting crackdown by the Trump administration’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency.

Over the last week, thousands of ICE agents have been deployed to Minnesota. In this time, a United States citizen was shot and killed by a federal agent, at least 2,400 people have been arrested by immigration officials, students have walked out of school in protest and in fear, and just last night, another person was shot in the leg after allegedly assaulting an ICE officer.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has called for peaceful protest and asked for the federal government to “end its occupation,” while President Trump threatened to invoke the Insurrection Act on Minnesota protesters.

In the throes of political debate, and at the mercy of an occupying force across the Twin Cities — and the surrounding metro area — community members are organizing rapidly.

Smitten Kitten, located in Uptown Minneapolis, is one group leading the charge.

“Normally, we’re selling adult toys, providing sex education, and [running] a business,” Mikayla, a representative of the shop, told Substack creator and social media journalist Jolly Good Ginger.

But, now, inside the shop, volunteers are organizing canned foods, diapers, clothes, and other essentials to be distributed to vulnerable community members.

“We are raising funds and supplies for families that are stuck at home because they’re scared of the ICE presence in the city or their kids are out of school because the schools are closed down,” Mikayla explained.

“We’re just trying to make sure that everybody’s fed, every baby has a diaper on them that’s clean, and has baby formula. That’s all we’re trying to do.”

Every day, the shop’s Instagram page has been leveraging its platform to boost donation opportunities for community members in the area, sharing GoFundMe, Venmo, and Cash App campaigns.

“We’ve been filling them up, a couple grand at a time,” Mikayla said. “We’ve been trying to help people get their rent paid from not being able to work, get food in their refrigerator.”

Workers at the shop take to Instagram every day with a new ask.

“Hey guys, it’s Anne,” one person started a video. “I’m reporting live from Diaper Mountain. Usually we’re an adult store, but today we’re gonna be pushing Venmos of families that need resources immediately.”

It’s unclear how much has been raised in recent days, but even before the ICE crackdown escalated this January, Smitten Kitten was fundraising for immigrant community members.

In December, community members helped raise over $18,000 for Isuroon, a nonprofit that supports Somali women in Minnesota.

“Do you hate ICE? Do you love personal massagers? This Sunday … 100% of our profits at Smitten Kitten are going to securing immigration attorneys for 500+ local Somali and East African families at risk for deportation,” Anne said in a video in December.

In just one day, the community had raised $15,000.

“We broke a Smitten Kitten record,” Anne said. “We broke the record of how much we’ve raised in one day.”

That generosity has only amplified in the weeks since.

The shop is also partnering with neighboring businesses, like Wrecktangle Pizza, to make sure people are being fed. And volunteers are standing outside of the shop to protect anyone coming in or out from ICE agents in the immediate area.

“We have people reaching out to us who need help, and we have people reaching out who want to provide help,” JP, another representative of the shop, shared on social media this week.

And for Fox, who isn’t even local to Minnesota but is amplifying Smitten Kitten’s efforts, this grassroots community work reaches so much farther than Lyndale and Lake Streets.

“Right now, community and coming together and helping each other is probably the most important thing we can focus on,” Fox continued in her video. “And fight fascism, you know?”

“We built these platforms for a reason,” she concluded in her caption. “Now is the time to use them.”

African countries are undergoing the most significant geopolitical recalibration over the past century

What analysts have speculated about for two decades is now codified policy: The post-Cold War epoch of unipolar American hegemony, draped in the language of liberal internationalism and universal values, has been formally terminated. The West’s ‘moral pretense’ – the insistence that its foreign policy was primarily driven by democracy promotion and human rights – has been exposed as an untenable fiction in the face of stark national interests.

In its place, a transactional Tripolar Order has been institutionalized. This structure, defined by the United States, China, and the Russian Federation, can now be called the finalized operational manual for 21st-century geopolitics.

For Africa, this represents the most significant geopolitical recalibration since the Berlin Conference of 1884, when the Western colonial powers converged in Germany to formalize the Scramble for Africa and the ‘effective occupation’ of its territories. The difference now is that the continent is not a blank slate for European division, but a managed space under new, non-Western actors.

The US in Africa: What’s different now?

Contrary to the myth of a globally engaged superpower, the United States has executed a deliberate and historic retrenchment. Its latest National Security Strategy paper is a document of strategic contraction. The primary focus is unambiguous: the consolidation of the American hemisphere. This ‘Fortress America’ doctrine prioritizes economic and security integration from Canada to Chile, turning the Western Hemisphere into an impregnable zone of influence. Secondary interests are reserved exclusively for the Anglosphere – the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand – culturally and institutionally aligned nations that serve as force multipliers.

The critical passage for Africa and Asia is what the document omits: a strategy for direct engagement. The US has officially disengaged from strategic competition on the African continent. It will close remaining bases, cease military aid designed for influence, and end its democracy and governance programs. Washington’s approach is now one of efficient outsourcing. Its insatiable need for cobalt, lithium, and rare earth elements – the lifeblood of its digital and green economies – will no longer be sourced through messy dealings with individual African states. Instead, the US will procure these resources via bulk, state-to-state transactions with the continent’s recognized managers: China and Russia. Africa, to Washington, is now a wholesale warehouse, not a diplomatic playground.

The Eastern and Southern hegemon, master of the supply chain

China’s sphere, recognized in the tripartite understanding, is vast and economically coherent. It encompasses South Asia, East Asia, and the mineral-strategic spine of Africa: Central Africa (notably the Democratic Republic of the Congo), East Africa (with its ports and belts), and Southern Africa. A confidential but binding US-China trade pact has cemented this.

The terms are a masterpiece of realpolitik: China, through its state-owned enterprises and Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) infrastructure, guarantees the secure, uninterrupted extraction and transit of critical minerals from its African zones to global markets. In return, the US has consented to transfer key advanced technologies (as exemplified by the Nvidia chips deal) and, more significantly, has ceded strategic control of regional security surveillance and satellite dominance in these territories to Beijing. China no longer merely invests in Africa; it administers its resource nodes and information domains. It is the undisputed, vertical monopolist of the green and digital transition’s supply chain.

Russia: The Northern and Western European security guarantor

Russia’s domain, formalized by the impending ‘Putrump’ accord (the strategic understanding between the Putin and Trump administrations on the general conditions for the Russia-Ukrainian Peace deal and the future of Europe), is one of hard security and political patronage. It stretches from a Finlandized Europe across the Mediterranean to North Africa, West Africa, and key Central African states.

The US decision to withdraw support for Ukraine was not an isolationist whim but a calculated move to remove the final military hurdle to Russia’s pacification of Europe. With Ukraine neutralized, European nations, lacking credible autonomous defense, will gradually accommodate themselves to Moscow’s security and energy dictates.

Israeli drone company XTEND and Lockheed Martin’s Skunk Works are working together to enable single operators to simultaneously command and control multiple drone classes.

Lockheed Martin’s Skunk Works and Israeli drone company XTEND are expanding their cooperation by integrating XTEND’s operating system into Skunk Works’ MDCX autonomy platform.

The integration of the XTEND Operating System (XOS) will enable a single operator to simultaneously command and control multiple classes of unmanned aerial systems (UAS), with the goal of improving situational awareness and operational efficiency, according to a statement released by the two companies.

Previously, operators of larger UAS platforms would transfer control to another operator responsible for lower-tier systems, using tools such as first-person-view interfaces and “mark-and-fly” commands. Following the integration, a single operator can execute lower-level missions in joint all-domain C2 (JADC2) scenarios.

Classified advanced tech

Skunk Works is Lockheed Martin’s advanced development division, known for pioneering new aerospace and defense technologies, including advanced aircraft, the Automatic Ground Collision Avoidance System (Auto GCAS), and command-and-control systems.

Candis Roussel, integrated communications manager at Lockheed Martin, told Defense & Tech by The Jerusalem Post that Skunk Works has “always been at the forefront of cutting‑edge technology, and we love tackling new challenges.”

“Skunk Works has been around since the 1950s, driving innovation in aerospace engineering,” Roussel said. “Our mission is to keep pace with the rapidly evolving environment and provide the safety, data, and agility that pilots and warfighters need to operate quickly and effectively – improving both their safety and their success.”

Founded in Israel and based in Tel Aviv, XTEND specializes in human-guided autonomous drone systems for defense and security applications. The company operates globally, with offices in Israel, the United States, Singapore, and Latvia.

XTEND’s drone command-and-control (C2) systems are used by militaries around the world and are designed to operate in harsh and contested environments, including scenarios in which GPS signals are denied or communications are jammed. The company says its XOS allows new operators to conduct missions at near expert-level proficiency, reducing training time while increasing operational effectiveness and informed decision-making.

The integration also reflects a broader shift within Western militaries toward distributed command-and-control architectures capable of operating in highly contested environments, where centralized control and uninterrupted communications cannot be assumed.

The Nigerian Military High Command reaffirmed that current operations will continue until the insurgent threat across Northeast Nigeria is eliminated and lasting stability is restored to communities affected by the conflict.

“The military remains resolute in its mission to eliminate terrorist threats, safeguard civilian lives, and restore enduring peace to the region,” the Command stated.

Global And Regional Context

Boko Haram, an extremist organization that originated in Northeast Nigeria in 2002, has been responsible for mass displacement, civilian deaths, and attacks across Nigeria, Cameroon, Niger, and Chad.

Jan 15 (Reuters) - A bipartisan group of U.S. lawmakers on Thursday introduced a bill to create a $2.5 billion stockpile of critical minerals, a move aimed at stabilizing market prices and encouraging domestic mining and refining.

The bill marks Washington's latest attempt to offset what policymakers view as Chinese manipulation of prices for lithium, nickel, rare earths and other critical minerals - vital for items from electric vehicles to high-tech weaponry - that has stymied American mining companies for years.

The 68-page bill says China has moved to "weaponize its influence over prices and volumes in the contest for access to critical minerals."

BILL AIMS TO 'INSULATE U.S. FROM FOREIGN THREATS'

China has rejected assertions that it manipulates the market for critical minerals, saying in November it is committed to "upholding the security and stability of global production and supply chains."

To become law, the measure must pass the House of Representatives and the Senate and be signed by President Donald Trump.

The bill would create a Strategic Resilience Reserve with a seven-person board, modeled on the Federal Reserve's governance structure, which would oversee the fund.

Members, appointed by the president and confirmed by the Senate, would be tasked with buying minerals considered critical by U.S. agencies and stockpiling them at warehouses across the country.

The bill prioritizes recycled material, but minerals extracted from mines would be eligible. Allied countries would be able to join the reserve if they contributed at least $100 million.

Minerals could be sold for private-industry or defense purposes. Any profit would be used to buy more minerals and keep the stockpile active in perpetuity.

"Providing targeted investments and stockpiling key inputs will help insulate the U.S. from foreign threats and will provide a significant - and cost effective - boost to the U.S. economy," said Senator Jeanne Shaheen, a New Hampshire Democrat and ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

Senator Todd Young, an Indiana Republican, co-sponsored the legislation. Representative Rob Wittman, a Virginia Republican, introduced the same measure in the House.

The reserve's board would have flexibility over how to buy minerals, according to Senate aides. It could, for example, agree to pay twice the existing market price for rare earths - a market dominated by China - if such purchases supported U.S. mines.

Last night, Tina Peters was assaulted at approximately 9PM MT in La Vista Correctional Facility.

Tina was inside a maintenance closet to fill up a water unit when an inmate approached her in the closet and began striking her in anger.

Tina raised her hands and pushed the inmate away.

Per Tina, the camera showed her pushing the inmate away from her out of the closet.

She was subsequently handcuffed, shackled, and brought to solitary.

Tina was told she is being charged with Felony Assault for defending herself against an unprovoked attack.

She will be locked down completely for 24-72 hours and held in IDO (the hole) for an unknown period of time.

As far as Tina is aware, the inmate who assaulted her has not been charged, slept in their cell last night, and will face no consequences.

This incident is clearly a targeted attack against Peters.

In all likelihood, it is being used as an opportunity to isolate and harass Tina Peters.

Tina has been warning officials that something like this would happen eventually. She was advised to apply for the Incentive Pod. Tina has applied repeatedly and been denied despite nothing disqualifying her.

Something is not right at LVCF.

Tina has minor injuries but is not seriously injured as of this morning.

Alex Ovechkin, NHL's all-time leading scorer, along with five Washington Capitals teammates, refuses pro-LGBT rainbow tape for his hockey stick

Legendary professional hockey player Alex Ovechkin drew attention on social media on Sunday after opting to not participate in a pro-LGBT initiative before his game against the Florida Panthers.

The Russian-born Ovechkin is one of the most accomplished athletes in NHL history. He is the only player to have netted more than 900 regular season goals, having surpassed the great Wayne Gretzky in April 2025.

Ovechkin, 40, took the ice without having rainbow-colored tape on his stick. Five of his Washington Capitals teammates followed his lead.

Ovechkin’s subtle sign of protest won support on social media, and it also stood in contrast to the Capitals’ X account, which promoted multiple pro-LGBT graphics and “pride” photos to its 744,500 followers.

“Pride Nights” in the NHL date back to the early 2010s. In recent years, a growing number of players have protested them in various ways. In 2023, Ovechkin himself refused to partake in a pre-game warmup. Also in 2023, Ivan Provorov was the only member of the Philadelphia Flyers to refuse to wear a rainbow-colored jersey for pre-game activities.

Others stood up to LGBT ideology that year as well. Eric and Marc Staal of the Florida Panthers said in a statement that “wearing a pride jersey … goes against our Christian beliefs.” San Jose Sharks goalie James Reimer likewise refused to wear a rainbow-colored jersey. “I am choosing not to endorse something that is counter to my personal convictions which are based on the Bible, the highest authority in my life,” he declared.

Player frustration ultimately pressured league commissioner Gary Bettman to admit in an interview with CTV that “Pride Night” has “become more of a distraction now” and that “I think it’s something that we’re going to have to evaluate in the offseason.”

Although the NHL hasn’t done away with “Pride Nights,” it has scrapped themed jerseys for players to wear for pre-game warmups. The decision was handed down primarily after Russian players who belong to the Orthodox Church voiced religious objections.

Ovechkin and his teammates’ example is worth noting in part because it stands in stark contrast to the woke messaging and more liberal-minded players in the National Football League.

Kansas School Bans Students From Naming Kirk, Trump Or Jesus As Role Models

Yet another example of why American parents are increasingly pulling their kids out of public institutions and turning to home schooling. Parents at an elementary school in Kansas are upset after students were reportedly told that they were not allowed to list President Donald Trump, late conservative activist Charlie Kirk and even Jesus Christ as their role models for an assignment.

The incident at Marshall Elementary School in Eureka, Kansas occurred in October and only recently came to light because students were originally instructed not to tell their parents about what happened. The American Center for Law & Justice, described as “a politically conservative, Christian-based legal organization,” has filed a formal civil rights complaint with the school.

The complaint accuses the district and Marshall Elementary School of religious discrimination, political or viewpoint discrimination, violation of free speech rights and retaliation. Students say a school guidance counselor, Kacey Countryman, gave sixth-graders an assignment called “Find Your Voice” as part of their "Leader In Me" program. They were asked to identify their role models, but conservative role models were apparently not allowed.

“When a student identified Charlie Kirk as a role model, the guidance counselor got very uncomfortable and refused to allow this name to be written on the board, yelling that he was ‘not a hero,’ and that he was not a role model,” the complaint says. When a student chose Trump as their role model, the guidance counselor reportedly had the same response.

Another parent says their child picked Jesus and was also denied.

Minneapolis faces a compounding crisis, as dozens of police officers are expected to tap into a new state paid leave program while the city grapples with anti-ICE riots and a staffing shortage that has stretched the department to its breaking point.

Between 60 and 100 officers from the Minneapolis Police Department have applied for or plan to apply for the Paid Family and Medical Leave (PFML) program, which took effect on January 1, according to multiple sources who spoke with Alpha News senior reporter Liz Collin and Crime Watch Minneapolis. The timing could hardly be worse for a city already reeling from violent protests following the shooting death of Renee Good, who was killed by an ICE agent after she attempted to run over a federal officer with her vehicle.

The PFML program was signed into law by Gov. Tim Walz in 2023, which he promoted as a way to give workers time off for family or medical reasons, including up to 20 weeks of paid leave funded with public money. Many had lined up to use the 20-week paid leave window as soon as it opened on January 1.

“The PFML program allows workers to take up to 12 weeks of medical leave or family leave per year. If someone decides to use a combination of family and medical leave, they can receive benefits for up to 20 weeks,” explains Alpha News. “During that leave, program recipients are paid between 55% and 90% of their regular wages. At present, weekly benefits cannot exceed $1,423 per week. The funding for the program comes from payroll taxes on employers and employees.”

The program also explicitly allows illegal immigrants to access the benefits that police officers use.

The news of MPD officers applying for the program also comes following the acknowledgement in an email last week to officers from the Police Officers Federation of Minneapolis that MPD morale is at an all-time low. The email detailed the “dangerously low” staffing levels causing stress and burnout, as well as political rhetoric and “inflammatory statements” from elected officials, which is emboldening hostility toward officers.

The department is already struggling daily to fill shifts, as was revealed this week in copies of emails obtained by Crime Watch showing shift sergeants desperately asking for officers to sign up for overtime to fill shifts.

Applications for the program surged quickly, with about 18,000 filed in the first week of the month and roughly 25,000 by last Monday. Initial projections estimated around 130,000 participants over the entire first year. Minneapolis declined to respond directly to Alpha News. Still, it acknowledged on social media that employees, including MPD officers, have requested leave, claiming most applicants were already on leave at the end of 2025 for reasons such as pregnancy, newborn bonding, or caring for a family member, while declining to dispute the reported number of officers involved.

Speaking to reporters during a regular media briefing, Dmitry Peskov said: “President Putin also received through diplomatic channels an invitation to join this Board of Peace.”

He said the Kremlin is now reviewing the invitation and “hoping to get more details from the US side.”

Later on Monday,the Belarusian Foreign Ministry said President Alexander Lukashenko also received an invitation to join the board.

The establishment of the board, chaired by Trump, is a key step in the United Nations-backed American plan to demilitarize and rebuild Gaza, which was ravaged by two years of war between Israel and the Hamas militant group.

For this intention Gaza -the place- represents a tool, an example, a useful geographical means to an end, a proving ground for the impossible.

France has declined to join the ‘Board of Peace’ proposed by US President Donald Trump to oversee post-war governance and reconstruction in Gaza.

The US sent invitations to dozens of world leaders, reportedly offering three-year memberships and an option to pay $1 billion for a permanent seat. The body is set to work alongside a Palestinian technocratic administration during a transitional period.

The White House said the board would “play an essential role” in implementing the 20-point plan approved by the UN Security Council in November. Trump expects countries to sign on to the board during an economic forum in Davos, Switzerland on Thursday, Bloomberg reported.

Several news outlets said European politicians have raised concerns over Trump’s plan, with Israeli broadcasteri24NEWS describing the mood in the EU as “very nervous and skeptical.” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who supports the formation of the board in principle, has acknowledged that Israel and the US have disagreements on the matter.

The Kremlin said Russian President Vladimir Putin has been invited to the Board of Peace and is examining the proposal.

Western European leaders should focus on the Ukraine conflict rather than US efforts to get Greenland, President Donald Trump told NBC News on Monday.

In a phone interview with the news outlet, he faulted Western European leaders for resisting his efforts to acquire the Danish territory, which he has argued is necessary for American security.

“Europe ought to focus on the war with Russia and Ukraine because, frankly, you see what that’s gotten them,” Trump said. “That’s what Europe should focus on – not Greenland.”

EU and NATO delegations are abandoning their prepared talking points on Ukraine for their upcoming meetings with Trump at the World Economic Forum later this week, Politico reported on Monday, citing officials. Now, “Trump’s unsolicited bid to acquire Greenland is expected to top the agenda,” it wrote.

Last week, the US president announced 10% tariffs on eight European NATO nations for opposing his Greenland bid and for sending soldiers to military drills on the Arctic island.

Trump has also not ruled out military action, telling NBC “no comment” when asked if he would use force to seize the territory. Previously, he warned that he would take the island “the easy way” or “the hard way.”

The Greenland issue has recently overtaken the Ukraine conflict as the main focus of Western European leaders, who claim that Russia represents a military threat – allegations that Moscow dismisses as nonsense.

Russia has long maintained that Western nations’ arms supplies to Kiev make them parties to the conflict, which Moscow argues is a proxy war being waged against it using Ukrainian manpower.

European countries’ continued military aid to Kiev has made them “the main obstacles to peace” amid the US-brokered peace talks, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Sunday. According to the top diplomat, the EU is openly preparing to go to war with Russia.

IMF warns against Europe-US trade tit-for-tat

A tariff war would have an adverse effect on the global economy, the International Monetary Fund has said

Pierre-Olivier Gourinchas, the IMF’s chief economist, offered words of caution on Monday during the launch of the updated World Economic Outlook (WEO) report.

“If we were to enter a phase in which there were escalation, and tit-for-tat policies, that would certainly have an even more adverse effect on the economy,” he said. Gourinchas argued that “there are no winners in a trade war,” urging both sides to find an “amicable solution.”

The warning follows an exchange of threats. US President Donald Trump had announced a 10% tariff, starting February 1, on imports from eight European NATO nations that oppose his bid to acquire Greenland.

This reportedly prompted the EU to deploy a package of retaliatory tariffs, dubbed the “trade bazooka,” targeting US imports.

The €93 billion retaliation package had been prepared last year in response to Trump’s first tariff salvo and was shelved after a tentative US-EU trade deal was struck last summer.

An EU diplomat told Reuters the package could “automatically come back into force on February 6” if no agreement is reached.

Gourinchas noted that the agreement had reduced trade tension, which helped mitigate the effect on the global economy and ultimately beat the initial negative projections made when the tariffs were first announced.

The comments come as world leaders prepare to gather in Davos, Switzerland, for the annual World Economic Forum.

According to the IMF’s latest World Economic Outlook, global economic growth is expected to remain resilient. It projects a 3.3% rate for 2026 and 3.2% for 2027, rates similar to the estimated 3.3% growth in 2025. Last year’s performance was supported by a surge in artificial intelligence investment.

House Republicans are going "full steam ahead" on a supercharged version of the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, a GOP-sponsored bill to prevent non-citizen voting in federal elections. It would amend the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 to require documentary proof of US citizenship (passport, birth certificate, or REAL ID=compliant driver's license) when registering to vote.

The bill (H.R. 8281) was originally introduced in 2024 and was passed by the House in a 220-198 vote, however it stalled in the Senate under Democratic control.

In early 2025, it was revived in the House as H.R. 22, and S. 128 in the Senate. In April, the House passed H.R. 22 in a 220-208 vote, where it was sent to the Senate and has once again stalled due to threat of filibuster or lack of bipartisan support.

Now, Republican leadership is pushing a "turbocharged" version called SAVE Act Plus, which would enhance the original bill by adding photo ID requirements for registration and voting, which both House Speaker Mike Johnson and Majority Leader Steve Scalise have begun aggressively pushing.

"What we're looking at doing is passing an even better bill over to the Senate to give them even more incentive to go protect the sanctity of every American's vote, and that is the Save Act plus a picture ID requirement," Scalise told Fox News on Sunday. "Look, you can't even get on an airplane. You can't go to a bar tonight without showing a picture ID. Yet, there are people in many states where the states actually have laws saying you can't show ID, which is a recipe for fraud, for stealing your vote if you're voting legally so that somebody can come behind you illegally in another country and actually vote and steal your vote..."
