Trump is head of NATO, without his approval there is no war or NATO countries going into Ukraine of attacking Russia. Further Macron and Starmer require US troops to do their stupid invasion.

IMO the first NATO troops that try this will be attacked by Russia with full justification. Russia has more arms and soldiers than any European country put together. Home-grown food 'ban' claim has lost the garden plot

There are claims a study about the carbon footprint of urban farming is part of a "globalist" plot to ban people from growing their own fruit and veggies.

A misinformation-spreading website says the research was funded by the World Economic Forum (WEF), an international non-governmental body regularly targeted by conspiracy theorists.

This is false. The study is real, but claims linking it to a WEF plot are baseless and the research makes no suggestion home-grown produce should be banned.

One of the study's authors told AAP FactCheck they have no links to the WEF and the organisation did not fund their research.\

The claim was made in a March 1 article by Slay News, a "pro-free speech" website with a history of publishing deceptive clickbait stories - see here, here, here and here.

The article has been shared widely on social media, including here, here and here.

"The World Economic Forum (WEF) is calling on governments to ban the general public from growing their own food at home by arguing that they are causing 'climate change'," the article states.

It claims the WEF's alleged push to outlaw home-grown produce is based on research by "WEF-funded scientists at the University of Michigan … published in the journal Nature Cities".

The study is a January 2024 paper titled 'Comparing the carbon footprints of urban and conventional agriculture'.

Its purpose was to compare the environmental performance of 73 European and US urban agriculture sites against conventional non-urban farms.

The urban sites included community gardens, city farms and individual plots.

Overall, the carbon footprint of food from all types of urban sites was about six times greater than conventional agriculture sites, the researchers concluded.

However, carbon emissions varied significantly depending on the type of site and variety of food grown.

The study makes no mention of the WEF or banning home-grown food.

Instead, the researchers suggest urban farmers can reduce their climate impacts by cultivating crops in greenhouses, reusing waste and extending the lifespan of garden equipment.

In an interview with the BBC's More or Less podcast on February 7, study co-author Jason (Jake) Hawes said the lower environmental impact of crops grown on commercial farms was mostly due to their large scale of production (from audio mark 20min 20sec).

Mr Hawes told AAP FactCheck the study "received no support from the World Economic Forum, and we (the authors) have no connections to the WEF".

"Furthermore, we have no interest in banning urban food growing - many of us are gardeners ourselves and are simply aiming to promote low-carbon methods of urban agriculture," he said in an email.

In the published study, the authors stated the research was part of the FEW-meter urban agriculture project.

The project receives funding from the UK's Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), Germany's Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the French National Research Agency (ANR), the US National Science Foundation, Poland's National Science Centre (NCN), and the European Union's Horizon 2020 program.

The WEF did not respond to an AAP FactCheck email asking if it provided any funding to the study or its authors. However, it told Indian fact-checking organisation Factly the claim was false.

The issue of Canada becoming the 51st state arose from a conversation in Mar-a-Lago between Prime Minister Trudeau and U.S President Donald Trump.

As Secretary of State Marco Rubio outlined, Trudeau said if President Trump was to make the Canadian government pay reciprocal tariffs, open the USMCA trade agreements to force reciprocity, and/or balance economic relations on non-tariff issues, then Canada would collapse and cease to exist.

In essence,Canada cannot surviveas a free and independent north American nation,without receiving all the one-way benefits from the U.S. economy. To wit, President Trump then said, if Canada cannot survive in a balanced rules environment, including putting together their own military and defenses (which it cannot), then Canada should become the 51st U.S state.

This is the first point of contention for the gender-correct qualifications of Canadian Ambassador to the U.S, Kirsten Hillman. Ambassador Hillman appears on Fox News Sunday’ to comment on U.S.-Canada relations, trade negotiations and how a federal election could impact the relationship between the two nations.

Ms. Hillman says Canadians will never give up their sovereignty.Let me repeat the non-pretending reality. If Canada loses all of the one-way benefits it receives from its relationship with the United States, the Canadian system of government and economics collapses.

Closed and non-competitive banking and finance sectors; a small military budget that does not even reach NATO expectations; an assembly or ‘pass through’ economy that doesn’t have heavy industry but instead assembles goods from foreign nations for transport into the United States; one-way excessive tariffs on American products. If these are ended, the lifestyle of the Canadian people immediately changes. Hence Trudeau saying, Canada cannot exist.

At the current rate of economic conflict,the Canadian dollar will lose 50% of its value by mid-summer 2025. This is the unavoidable reality Ms Hillman and the Canadian left-wing government will not openly discuss.

The only way for Canada to be a sovereign nationunattached to the United States, is if they drop all of their climate-change initiatives, drop their liberal economic rules and regulations, begin a system of heavy industry production again and get back to using cheap energy production as the fuel to drive it.

Canada would then need todiscontinue most social welfare programsand instead divert that money to their military budget. (The system has been broken for 15-20, hence euthanasia introduced)

The leftist economic policies are why the Canadian banking system has to be closed, and all competition removed from the internal banking and finance equation.If reciprocity is demanded and enforced, Canada collapses; it’s that simple.

A Rhode Island doctor who is an assistant professor at Brown University's medical school has been deported to Lebanon even though a judge had issued an order blocking the U.S. visa holder's immediate removal from the country, according to court papers.

The expulsion of Dr. Rasha Alawieh, 34, is set to be the focus of a hearing on Monday before a federal judge in Boston, who on Sunday demanded information on whether U.S. Customs and Border Protection had "willfully" disobeyed his order.

U.S. District Judge Leo Sorokin, an appointee of Democrat President Barack Obama, said he had received a "detailed and specific" timeline of the events from an attorney working on Alawieh's behalf that raised "serious allegations" about whether his order was violated.

The agency has not said why she was removed. But her expulsion came as Republican President Donald Trump's administration has sought to sharply restrict border crossing and ramp up immigration arrests.

A CBP spokesperson, Hilton Beckham, in a statement said migrants bear the burden of establishing admissibility and that the agency's officers "adhere to strict protocols to identify and stop threats."

Alawieh, a Lebanese citizen who lives in Providence, was detained on Thursday after arriving at Logan International Airport in Boston after traveling to Lebanon to see relatives, according to a lawsuit filed by her cousin, Yara Chehab.

She had held a visa to be in the United States since 2018, when she first came to complete a two-year fellowship at Ohio State University before then completing a fellowship at the University of Washington and then moving to the Yale-Waterbury Internal Medicine Program, which she completed in June.

While in Lebanon, the U.S. consulate issued Alawieh an H-1B visa authorizing her entry into the United States to work at Brown University, the lawsuit said. Such visas are reserved for people from other countries who are employed in specialty occupations.

Despite that visa, CBP detained her at the airport for reasons her family members have still not been provided, according to the lawsuit, which argued her rights were being violated.

In response to the lawsuit, Sorokin on Friday evening issued orders barring Alawieh's removal from Massachusetts without 48 hours' notice to the court and requiring her to be brought to a court hearing on Monday.

Yet according to the cousin's attorneys, after that order was issued, Alawieh was flown to Paris, where she was then set to board a flight for Lebanon that had been scheduled for Sunday.

Sorokin on Sunday directed the government to provide a legal and factual response by Monday morning ahead of the previously scheduled hearing and to preserve all emails, text messages, and other documents concerning Alawieh's arrival and removal.

Concerns have also been raised in other cases about whether the Trump administration is complying with court rulings blocking parts of its agenda.

The Trump administration on Sunday said it has deported hundreds of Venezuelans to El Salvador under seldom-used wartime powers, despite a federal judge's order temporarily barring such deportations.

The United States carried out new airstrikes on Yemen on Monday, the Houthis' Al Masirah TV said, expanding the biggest U.S. military operation in the Middle East since President Donald Trump took office in January.

Responding to the Iran-aligned Houthi movement's threats to international shipping, the U.S. launched a new wave of airstrikes on Saturday. On Monday, the Red Sea port city of Hodeidah and Al Jawf governorate north of the capital Sanaa were targeted, Al Masirah said.

At least 53 people have been killed in the attacks, Anees Alsbahi, a spokesperson for the Houthi-run health ministry, said on Sunday. Five children and two women were among the victims and 98 have been hurt, Alsbahi added on X.

The Houthis, an armed movement that has taken control of most of Yemen over the past decade, have launched scores of attacks on ships off its coast since November 2023, disrupting global commerce. The U.S. campaign to intercept missiles and drones has burned through stocks of U.S. air defenses.

The strikes, which one U.S. official told Reuters might continue for weeks, come as Washington ramps up sanctions pressure on Iran while trying to bring it to the negotiating table over its nuclear program.

Houthi leader Abdul Malik al-Houthi said on Sunday the militants would target U.S. ships in the Red Sea as long as the U.S. continues attacks on Yemen.

"If they continue their aggression, we will continue the escalation," he said in a televised speech.

The Houthi movement's political bureau described the U.S. attacks as a "war crime." Moscow urged Washington to stop them.

The Houthis' military spokesman, without providing evidence, said in a televised statement early on Monday that the group had launched a second attack against the U.S. aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman in the Red Sea.

Israel has weakened a large part of Iran's "Axis of Resistance" against U.S. influence in the Middle East - including Lebanon's Hezbollah and the Palestinian militant group Hamas since being attacked by Hamas gunmen in October 2023.

Top Hamas and Hezbollah leaders have been assassinated and fall of another Iranian ally, Syria's Bashar al-Assad, in December also dealt a blow to the Islamic Republic.

But the Houthis - resilient mountain fighters who defied a Saudi-led bombing campaign in a civil war for years - are still standing, along with pro-Iranian militias in Iraq.

U.S. WARNING

The Houthis said last week they would resume attacks on Israeli ships passing through the Red Sea if Israel did not lift a block on aid entering Gaza.

They had launched scores of attacks on shipping after Israel's war with Hamas began in late 2023, saying they were acting in solidarity with Gaza's Palestinians.

Trump warned Iran, the Houthis' main backer, that it needed to immediately halt support for the group. If Iran threatened the U.S., he said, "America will hold you fully accountable and, we won't be nice about it!"

In response, Hossein Salami, the top commander of Iran's Revolutionary Guards, said the Houthis made their own decisions.

"We warn our enemies that Iran will respond decisively and destructively if they carry out their threats," he told state media.

U.S. warplanes shot down 11 Houthi drones on Sunday, none of which came close to the Truman, a U.S. official told Reuters. U.S. forces also tracked a missile that splashed down off the coast of Yemen, the official said.

U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth told Fox News' "Sunday Morning Futures": "The minute the Houthis say we'll stop shooting at your ships, we'll stop shooting at your drones. This campaign will end, but until then it will be unrelenting."

He said reopening freedom of navigation was a core national interest for the U.S. and that Iran had been "enabling the Houthis for far too long."

"They better back off," he said.

The Houthis suspended their campaign when Israel and Hamas agreed on a Gaza ceasefire in January. But on March 12 they said their threat to attack Israeli ships would stay in effect until Israel reapproved the delivery of aid and food into Gaza.

We were told that the physical fitness performance of candidates declined. The requirements include timed sit-ups (1 minute), timed 300-m sprint, untimed push-up maximum and timed 1.5-mile run.

The retired agents described recruits who had an ‘attitude problem.’ The recruits would quit the long distance run or claim injuries if they thought they would not pass a requirement. The number of successfully completed push ups was routinely low because many recruits didn’t have the skill or strength to follow the required protocol (i.e bad form, not low enough.)

What we learned about firearms training was also concerning.We were told some recruits lacked the “mental toughness” to competently handle weapons. Other candidateshad documented mental health issues. While their performance was poor, there was a “push them through Quantico attitude.”

The backbone of FBI investigations is a witness interview summary known as a “302.”In some cases, new agents lacked basic writing skills to complete a 302, in part, because work experience requirements had been relaxed. Once poor performing recruits were “pushed through Quantico,” the hope was that FBI Field Offices would fix them.

Theseretired FBI agents are solution oriented and respectfully asked if Director Patel would be willing to meet with them because they understand where the change needs to happen internally.

Describing how “woke broke the FBI,” one of the agents shared the wrenching personal decision to discourage their child from following in their professional footsteps.

In response to our questions, FBI spokesman Ben Williamson said, “Director Patel’s new FBI will be an entirely mission focused institution— working every day to get criminals off our streets, keep the American people safe, and let good agents be good agents. We are aggressively working to abide by any Presidential directive to root out politically motivated, social engineering projects — they have zero home here and never will as long as Director Patel is at the helm.” (That’s not good are they even telling Patel the retired agents want to talk?)
