If you want to get a feel for the influence that big pharma / industrial food has…mention something positive about RFK Jr. to a liberal person.

I've only done it twice…but each time the person was horrified. I thought that RFK Jr. being a lifelong dem that ran for pres as a dem would have some support…especially his stance on poisons in our food supply (that use to be a far left position)…possible common ground.

No rhythm.

No dress-right-dress.

US disbands undisclosed Russia pressure group – Reuters

US President Donald Trump’s administration has reportedly halted the work of a special task force that was developing strategies to pressure Russia, Reuters claimed on Tuesday, citing anonymous sources.

The inter-agency workgroup, the existence of which had not previously been disclosed, was reportedly established earlier this spring as part of Trump’s efforts to speed up peace talks between Russia and Ukraine.

The task force had been examining measures such as increasing economic leverage over former Soviet republics and conducting intelligence operations to undermine Russian influence.

However, it reportedly lost momentum in May, when the US president refused to adopt a more confrontational stance toward Moscow, officials told Reuters.

“It lost steam toward the end because the president wasn’t there. Instead of doing more, maybe he wanted to do less,” one of the officials said.

The agency noted that the effort was never formally shut down, but effectively stalled after a sweeping purge at the White House National Security Council several weeks ago removed most of the officials involved, including the entire team dealing with the Ukraine conflict.

Reuters noted that it is unclear if Trump himself was aware of the working group’s formation or subsequent dissolution.

The US president has repeatedly insisted that only Russia and Ukraine can negotiate a resolution to the ongoing conflict, and has consistently sought to pressure the leaders of both countries to engage in peace talks.

Although he has threatened additional sanctions on Russia as part of his efforts to mediate the conflict, Trump has also sought to rebuild Washington’s relations with Moscow and has already held several phone calls with President Vladimir Putin, all of which he has described as positive.

On Monday, during the G7 summit in Canada, Trump also publicly advocated for Russia’s return to the G8 format, arguing that excluding Moscow from major international forums was a strategic mistake.

Russian officials have repeatedly expressed appreciation for Trump’s peace efforts and attempts to rebuild relations with Moscow, which had hit their lowest point in decades under former US President Joe Biden.

However, Moscow has rejected the idea of returning to the G8 format, stating that it has “lost its relevance” and no longer reflects current global economic dynamics. Instead, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov pointed to the G20 as a more representative format.

Trump snubs Zelensky meeting

US President Donald Trump has left the G7 summit in Canada early, despite having a scheduled meeting with Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky, the White House has said, citing the recent escalation in the Middle East.

White House Press secretary Karoline Leavitt said on Monday that the US leader is departing the gathering in Kananaskis, Alberta, “so he can attend to many important matters.”

She also wrote on X that Trump “had a great day at the G7,” but “because of what’s going on in the Middle East, [he] will be leaving tonight after dinner with Heads of State.”

Zelensky had been scheduled to meet Trump on the sidelines of the summit in what was widely perceived as an opportunity to urge the US to ramp up sanctions against Russia and approve more weapons shipments to Kiev.

Trump, however, has been reluctant to increase pressure on Moscow, with media reports suggesting that he is frustrated with both Ukraine and Russia, and is considering withdrawing from the peace process altogether.

French President Emmanuel Macron suggested that Trump’s early departure was linked to ceasefire negotiations between Israel and Iran.

“There is indeed an offer to meet and exchange,” Macron said. “The US assured they will find a ceasefire, and since they can pressure Israel, things may change.”

Trump, however, pushed back on the claim shortly afterward, rebuking “publicity seeking” Macron for what he saw as disseminating falsehoods.

“He has no idea why I am now on my way to Washington, but it certainly has nothing to do with a Cease Fire. Much bigger than that,” he wrote on the Truth Social network.

The recent Middle East escalation kicked off after US–Iran talks on a potential nuclear deal ended up at an impasse.

Iran has dismissed a US demand to completely eliminate its uranium enrichment capabilities while not ruling out a potential agreement in itself.

Tehran has also insisted it is not seeking to create a nuclear weapon, and that its atomic program is for peaceful purposes only.

As the diplomatic process stalled, Israel last week launched several waves of strikes on Iranian nuclear and military sites, killing top commanders and nuclear scientists.

Iran retaliated with massive missile strikes on Israel, while the US has backed West Jerusalem’s right to self-defense while reinforcing its assets in the region to protect its long-time ally. Washington, nevertheless, urged Tehran to return to talks.

North Korea to send military personnel to Russia – senior official

North Korea will deploy thousands of military personnel to Russia’s Kursk Region to aid in demining operations and reconstruction efforts, Russian Security Council Secretary Sergey Shoigu said on Tuesday.

North Korean troops fought alongside Russian forces to liberate Kursk Region from a cross-border Ukrainian incursion that lasted from August 2024 to April 2025.

Shoigu described the new deployment as an extension of North Korea’s military support to Russia under the two countries’ strategic partnership treaty.

“[North Korean leader] Kim Jong-un has made the decision to send to Russia 1,000 mine clearance specialists to sweep the Russian territory,” he said.

He added that an additional 5,000 military engineers will help “rebuild infrastructure destroyed by the occupants.”

Ukraine launched its large-scale incursion into the region last August, in what officials in Kiev hyped at the time as a blow to Russia.

However, Russian forces quickly turned the tide, and by the time Ukrainian forces were fully expelled in late April, the Defense Ministry in Moscow estimated that Kiev’s forces had sustained more than 76,000 casualties in the operation.

On Monday, Moscow and Kiev completed a series of exchanges of the remains of fallen soldiers. Russia returned the remains 6,060 Ukrainian soldiers, many from the Kursk campaign, while Ukraine handed over 78.

The Russian Defense Ministry said it held an additional 1,248 bodies that it was prepared to hand over to Kiev.

Weeks before the Kursk incursion, Russia and North Korea signed a strategic partnership treaty, which included provisions for mutual defense in the event of foreign aggression.

President Vladimir Putin acknowledged the involvement of North Korean soldiers in repelling Ukrainian forces from Kursk Region and

hailed them as heroes and “brothers-in-arms” alongside Russian troops when the joint defensive operation was over.

Shoigu said he has been making regular visits to Pyongyang in recent months due to what he described as “the intensive pace of the implementation” of the partnership agreement.

He noted that maintaining momentum “requires constant attention and course-correction on all levels.”

Russian military strikes Ukraine’s defense industry – MOD

The Russian military has launched a series of attacks on Ukraine’s defense industrial sector, the Defense Ministry in Moscow has said.

In a statement on Tuesday, the ministry said that the group strike involving high-precision air-, land-, and sea-based weapons, as well as drones, targeted military-industrial facilities in Kiev Region and the Ukrainian-controlled part of Zaporozhye Region.

“The goal of the strikes has been accomplished. All designated targets have been hit,” officials said.

Ukraine's Vladimir Zelensky claimed on social media that more than 440 drones and 32 missiles targeted facilities in Odessa, Chernigov, Zhitomir, Kirovograd, and Nikolaev, killing 15 people and injuring 75.

He urged “the US and Europe to… finally react the way a civilized society reacts to terrorists.”

Ukrainian outlet Strana.ua has reported, citing service members, that one of the strikes destroyed an ammunition depot in Kiev Region.

It also claimed that a dormitory of an aviation institute in the Ukrainian capital had been hit.

Unverified videos on social media showed at least four powerful explosions in Kiev that could be seen from kilometers away.

Ukrainian Interior Minister Igor Klimenko said that the attacks had damaged several buildings, including educational institutions, and critical infrastructure facilities.

In recent weeks, Russia has been launching strikes on Ukrainian military-related facilities after Kiev significantly ramped up drone strikes into the country.

Moscow has described the recent escalation as Kiev’s attempt to derail the ongoing Russia-Ukraine peace talks. Russian officials have insisted that the attacks are never aimed at civilians.

Fatalities reported after Ukrainian attack on Russian city

Russian civilians have reportedly been killed and at least ten injured by a Ukrainian strike on a residential district in the city of Donetsk, the city’s mayor, Alexey Kulemzin, said on Tuesday.

“Three or four hits” on peaceful areas, damaging a residential building as well as two public utilities, had taken place, he said, adding that the “damage is quite significant.”

Ambulances had evacuated ten people who were injured in the shelling, Kulemzin stated, noting “preliminary information about fatalities.”

Kulemzin had previously warned residents about loud blasts in the city, urging caution. The TASS news agency later reported at least ten powerful explosions in the capital of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR).

TASS reported that a multi-story residential building has been destroyed and several dozen vehicles damaged in the strike. The outlet’s correspondent has also claimed that at least one person was killed in the attack and three were badly injured.

Ukrainian forces have regularly targeted residential neighborhoods in Donetsk throughout the ongoing conflict. Just days earlier, a unmanned aerial vehicles injured six teenagers and two adults, according to the DPR’s war crimes documentation department.

The incident occurred during a series of drone attacks that also damaged homes and vehicles in the area. City officials report dozens of civilian injuries in Donetsk each month as a result of shelling attributed to Ukrainian forces.

Almost 150 Ukrainian drones downed overnight over Russia – MOD

Russia’s air defenses have destroyed 147 incoming Ukrainian drones overnight, including several targeting Moscow, the country’s Defense Ministry has said.

In a statement on Tuesday, the ministry said the intercepts occurred across several areas, including Belgorod, Kursk, Bryansk, Voronezh, Tver, Lipetsk, Oryol, Tambov, Tula, and Moscow regions.

In total, 198 drones were intercepted between 8:00pm on Monday and 7:00am on Tuesday, according to the ministry. Officials have not provided any data on the damage or casualties incurred due to the raids.

Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin confirmed that the Russian capital was targeted by two drones, both of which were downed before reaching their destinations.

He added that emergency services are working at the sites where the drone debris fell.

The drone raids led to temporary suspensions at several major airports, including key Moscow hubs. Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency said flights at Vnukovo, Domodedovo, Zhukovsky, Sheremetyevo, Kaluga, Nizhny Novgorod, and Tambov airports were suspended for safety reasons.

Meanwhile, officials in Kursk Region, which borders Ukraine, said that a total of 21 incoming drones had been shot down.

On Tuesday, Rodion Miroshnik, Russia’s ambassador-at-large, reported that nearly 70 civilians, including 14 children, had been victimized by Kiev’s FPV drone strikes over the past week.

“The armed formations of Ukraine deliberately and intentionally directed drones at civilians and civilian objects,” he told TASS.

In recent weeks, Ukraine has significantly ramped up drone strikes targeting Russia. Moscow has accused Kiev of attempting “terrorist” attacks on the country’s railway infrastructure, which have led to civilian fatalities.

According to the Kremlin, the indiscriminate raids are intended to derail direct bilateral talks.

Last week, President Vladimir Putin stated that Russian forces had shot down more than 80,000 aerial targets, most of which are drones, since the escalation of the conflict in 2022.

Iran launches 10th phase of Op. True Promise III with massive missile, drone barrage

Iranian armed forces have launched the next and tenth phase of Operation True Promise III by firing a barrage of missiles and drones toward the occupied territories.

The new phase began at around 7:10 pm local time on Tuesday, following nine previous phases since June 13 that have inflicted heavy blows on the occupying regime.

Launches in the new wave were carried out from various parts of the country, with both missiles and drones aimed at the occupied territories.

In the new wave of retaliatory attacks, a large-scale missile operation was carried out against the Israeli air force bases, which are the origin points for fighter jet flights toward the country.

Operation True Promise III, which was launched on Friday night, is being carried out under the code name “Ya Ali ibn Abi Talib.”

It comes in response to the assassination of several high-ranking Iranian military commanders, nuclear scientists, and civilians, including women and children.

The tenth phase of the operation came less than 24 hours after the impactful wave of ballistic missiles and drones struck multiple targets in different parts of the occupied territories.

After receiving heavy blows in the previous eight phases of the operation, the Israeli regime authorities on Monday banned the live aerial feeds of the Iranian operation.

Earlier on Tuesday, in a statement, Iranian armed forces announced that over the past 24 hours, 28 types of hostile aircraft were identified, intercepted, and shot down by the country's integrated air defense network.

Iran’s skies are under the “total control” of the US and its allies, the American president has claimed

US President Donald Trump has demanded an “unconditional surrender” from Iran, which has been locked in a heated military conflict with Israel, over the past days. In a series of posts on his Truth Social Trump also claimed that “we now have complete and total control of the skies over Iran.”

Hostilities between West Jerusalem and Tehran have been intensifying since Israel's attacks on a uranium enrichment center, nuclear and military facilities, and a series of drone and car-bomb attacks that killed over a dozen senior Iranian military commanders and scientists as well as multiple civilians.

Iran retaliated by firing dozens of ballistic missiles into Israel. The two sides have been exchanging attacks since then.

“Unconditional surrender,” Trump wrote in capital letters on Truth Social on Tuesday. The American president also issued a direct threat against the Islamic Republic’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, claiming that the US and its Israeli allies “know exactly” where Khamenei is “hiding.” Trump called him an “easy target” but stated that “we are not going to take him out… at least for now.”

“Our patience is wearing thin,” the US president added.

Speaking to journalists earlier on Tuesday, the American leader said his goals in the conflict between West Jerusalem and Tehran go beyond a ceasefire, adding that he wanted Iran to forgo “entirely on nuclear weapons.”

Israeli Prime Minister BenjaminNetanyahu made similar statements on Monday, when he claimed that Israel was “in control of the skies over Tehran” and told the city’s residents to evacuate.

Tehran signaled on Tuesday that it was ready to continue fighting. “The enemy cannot sustain a long war, and as it continues, the back of the Zionist regime will be broken,” Iran’s defense ministry spokesman, Brigadier General Reza Talayi-Nik, said in a televised interview aired by the Iranian state broadcaster. The general also announced the use of new missile systems as part of retaliatory strikes.

“Today, we used one of our missiles for the first time, and the Zionist regime didn’t even realize it had been deployed. They will see more of these surprises,” he said. Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) reported successful strikes on Israel’s military intelligence logistical headquarters and a Mossad intelligence center in the Tel Aviv area on Tuesday. The targets were hit “despite the presence of highly advanced defense systems,” it said.

West Jerusalem justified its Friday attack by claiming Iran was on the brink of obtaining a nuclear weapon. Tehran has repeatedly denied such accusations, maintaining that its nuclear program is entirely peaceful.

In late March, US National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard stated that American intelligence data suggested Iran was “not building a nuclear weapon” and its nuclear arms program had been on hold since 2003. When asked about this assessment on Tuesday, Trump stated that he did “not care what she said.”

Russia sanctions would cost US ‘billions’ – Trump

The US president says he is in no rush to tighten restrictions despite pressure from allies

US President Donald Trump has said he is not ready to introduce tougher sanctions against Russia despite pressure from allies, Bloomberg reported on Tuesday.Trump expressed concern that additional punitive economic measures would cost his country “a lot of money.”

The American leader has repeatedly said he is weighing new sanctions on Moscow, but has so far stopped short of adopting any. Speaking with reporters at the G7 summit in Alberta, Canada,he said he first wants to see “whether or not a deal is signed.”

“When I sanction a country that costs the US a lot of money, a tremendous amount of money,” Trump said.“It’s not just, let’s sign a document – you’re talking about billions and billions of dollars. Sanctions are not that easy. It’s not just a one-way street.”

Republican Senator Lindsey Graham has advocated massively increasing sanctions in a bill he introduced earlier this year. It includes, among other measures, 500% tariffs on countries that purchase Russian oil and gas, should Moscow refuse to engage in peace negotiations with Ukraine. Graham, who later suggested exceptions for countries that provide military aid to Kiev, described the proposed measures as “bone-breaking” for Russia.

Last week, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent warned that the proposed sanctions could undermine diplomatic efforts, and urged lawmakers to give the Trump administration greater flexibility to negotiate with Moscow and Kiev.

Trump told journalists earlier this month that the Senate had prepared “a very strong bill,”and that Washington would “use it if it’s necessary.” However, the president reportedly asked Senate Republicans to delay putting it to a vote. Senator Roger Wicker, the top Republican on the Senate Armed Services Committee, said Trump had indicated he was not yet ready to support it.

During their latest round of direct negotiations in Istanbul, Russia and Ukraine both put forward proposals to end the conflict. Moscow’s plan would require Kiev to accept the loss of five regions which joined Russia in referendums, pull back its troops from those territories, and adhere to neutrality.

Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky dismissed that plan as an ultimatum and ruled out territorial concessions or neutrality. He also insisted on a full 30-day ceasefire as a precursor to negotiations – a condition which the Kremlin has rejected.

Then President Joe Biden cut most contacts with Moscow in 2022 over the Ukraine conflict and imposed sweeping sanctions on Russian officials and companies. Trump has since criticized Biden for eschewing diplomacy and vowed to negotiate a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine. Moscow has welcomed Trump’s initiative, but progress on reaching a settlement has been slow.

Two Drones Shot Down Over Erbil by Coalition Forces

June 17, 2025

Coalition forces intercepted and shot down two drones over Erbil province on Tuesday, according to security sources.

The first drone was brought down over Mastawa village, followed shortly by a second drone over Pirdawd village. No casualties or material damage were reported.

Security forces have reached both crash sites and are conducting investigations into the origin and intent of the drones.

The incident follows the downing of another drone in Erbil early Monday morning, bringing the total to three drones shot down in the past two days.
