Put them under control by making them believe they are being sheltered from the public for the greater good of the gov't, pull a 180 on official disclosure, and then wait for the outcry by an angered public (and more importantly the MAGA base).

For Trump to be politically effective through the end of his term, he's going to have to stack MAGA in Congress and get rid of the Country Club RINOs. SpaceX launches 28 Starlink satellites from Cape Canaveral

SpaceX launched 28 more Starlink satellites for its low Earth orbit constellation on Tuesday (July 8).

A Falcon 9 rocket lifted off with the broadband internet units (Group 10-28) at 4:21 a.m. EDT (0821 GMT) from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida.

About nine minutes later, the satellites reached space and, 50 minutes after that, were deployed into orbit.

"Deployment of 28 Starlink satellites confirmed," SpaceX announced on the X social media network.

In the interim, the Falcon 9 rocket's first stage (Booster 1077) completed its 22nd flight to and from space, landing on the droneship "A Shortfall of Gravitas" in the Atlantic Ocean.

SpaceX's Starlink network provides broadband internet access to areas across the globe where other types of coverage is unavailable or is disabled.

Through a partnership with T-Mobile, it has also started providing direct to cell service, which SpaceX has enabled for the flash flooded areas in Texas.

"In support of those impacted by flooding in Texas, Starlink is providing Mini kits for search and rescue efforts – ensuring connectivity even in dead zones – and one month of free service for thousands of customers in the region, including those who paused service so they can reactivate Starlink during this time," the company wrote on X.

"The Starlink team and T-Mobile have also enabled basic texting (SMS) through our Direct to Cell satellites for T-Mobile customers in the areas impacted by flooding in Texas.

This includes Kerr County, Kendall County, Llano County, Travis County and Comal County.

Additionally, anyone in the impacted areas with a compatible smartphone will be able to receive emergency alerts from public safety authorities," Space wrote.

Chinese-born man takes plea deal after using drone to take 200 photos of Space Force station

A plea deal releases new details into the case.

A Chinese-born Canadian citizen said he was flying his drone in January to photograph sunrises and nature on the coast. But according to new court documents, Xiao Guang Pan took more than 250 videos and photos of Cape Canaveral Space Force Station (CCSFS).

Federal authorities found footage that captured a submarine wharf, munitions bunkers, a payload processing facility, security checkpoints and more.

Pan is now pleading guilty to three counts of using an aircraft for the unlawful photographing of a defense installation without authorization, according to his plea agreement filed last month in U.S. District Court that releases new details in the federal case.

Each count carries a maximum sentence of one year of prison and a $100,000 fine, according to federal court records.

His sentencing hearing is scheduled for Oct. 1 in Orlando.

The 71-year-old, who was born in China, had been visiting the United States on a tourist visa.

Pan was out on the coast shooting pictures with his drone from a parking lot at Port Canaveral when he captured the attention of authorities.

The military facility used for U.S. Department of Defense and defense contractors’ space launches is also home to U.S. Navy submarine wharfs operated by the Naval Ordnance Test Unit, according to federal court records.

Federal authorities searched Pan’s footage and determined that he had flown his DJI Mavic Pro 3 nine times and taken nearly 2,000 photos and videos between Jan. 5 and 7.

“Of those photos and videos, 243 photographs and 13 videos showed military infrastructure at Canaveral Space Force Station,” his plea agreement said.

For instance, according to court records, Pan took two videos and 21 photos Jan. 5 of the military installation from several miles away using a telephoto lens.

Some of the photos “depicted a Space Launch Complex and payload processing facilities operated by two defense contractors,” his plea agreement said.

The following day, Pan moved several miles closer and continued documenting the space force station, taking nine more videos and 166 photographs, according to court documents.

“These photographs and videos captured the same military infrastructure as on January 5 in higher quality and from different angles,” his plea agreement said.

By Jan. 7, the day he was caught by law enforcement, he had launched his drone “from Class D controlled airspace, just outside the CCSFS restricted airspace border, without receiving FAA approval,” the plea agreement said.

“During this flight, Pan captured images and videos of roads, power distribution infrastructure, security checkpoints, mission control infrastructure, national security space launch infrastructure, fuel and munitions storage, and naval infrastructure within CCSFS.”

Pan denied seeing any launch pads and said he did not know he was near a military facility. He also argued his drone hadn’t sent him warnings or alerts when he was flying it.

But the evidence proved otherwise, according to court records.

Investigators found screenshots on Pan’s cellphone of Google Maps satellite images of Cape Canaveral from where his drone took off. The screenshots prominently displayed the words “Cape Canaveral Space Force Station,” the plea agreement said.

Recovering the drone’s flight data also proved that Pan had indeed received messages and alerts about the airspace violations, the plea agreement said.

The new court records also raise questions about the complexity of the case.

“The above is merely a summary of some of the events, some of the persons involved, and other information relating to this case. It does not include, nor is it intended to include, all the events, persons involved, or other information relating to this case,” the plea agreement said.

Federal prosecutors did not respond to a request for comment on whether more people are going to be charged. After the criminal charges were filed, Pan was released because he asked the courts for permission to travel back home to Ontario for medical treatment.

Pan has coronary artery disease and a history of diabetes and other medical issues, according to a court filing.

Pan’s Instagram account describes him as a “licensed drone pilot” and shows aerial pictures of lakes, nature and urban areas.

Pan’s defense attorney and prosecutors from Middle District of Florida did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the plea deal Tuesday.

Mission Delta 2 Conducts Change Command

PETERSON SPACE FORCE BASE, Colo. – Mission Delta 2 changed leadership as U.S. Space Force Col. Raj Agrawal relinquished command to U.S. Space Force Col. Barry Croker during a change-of-command ceremony, July 3, 2025, at Peterson SFB, Colo.  

The units now falling under Col. Croker’s command includes the 15th Space Surveillance Squadron, 18th Space Defense Squadron, 19th Space Defense Squadron, 20th Space Surveillance Squadron, 2nd Sustainment Squadron, and 62nd Cyberspace Squadron. 

MD 2 is responsible for Space Domain Awareness operations; identifying, characterizing, and exploiting opportunities and mitigate vulnerabilities in the national security space terrain on behalf of the U.S. Space Force and U.S. Space Command. 

During Col. Agrawal’s command, the unit enhanced spaceflight safety through collaborations efforts, supporting 254 launches; supported U.S. Space Command’s space sharing agreement program; integrated acquisitions, engineering, development, and sustainment, increasing responsiveness to tactical needs across short- and long-term objectives; demonstrated automated data analysis, integrating the Pacific Ecosystem Cyber capability for cyber defense support; and many more efforts expanding the U.S. Space Force’s impact on the joint force and national security.

“We do the things we do in order to make sure we can project long haul precision munitions wherever we want to put them; and we take that advantage away,” said Agrawal.

The former MD 2 commander will go on to serve as an instructor at the National Defense University.    

“The business of surveilance, track, target and assess is what Mission Delta 2 does; and there isn’t an operational mission delta that doesn’t rely on MD 2,” said Lt. Gen. David N. Miller, Jr., commander of Space Operations Command and presiding official over the ceremony.

“They are the best of what America has to offer and I thank every member of MD 2 here today and spread across the 15 locations around the world.” 

He also praised the efforts the unit has made in the two years of their existence. “We literally would not have a combat-ready Space Force without you,” said Miller. 

Croker joins the MD 2 team after serving as the Strategic Initiatives Group director for the Office of the Chief of Space Operations; where he directly supporting the planning and execution of key engagements, strategic communications, and Space Force-wide transformation initiatives.

“Together, we'll rise to the challenge and move closer to creating the service that our nation needs,” said Croker.

“We'll document our successes and learn from our failures, and in all things, we will execute with a shared vision of what it means to effectively produce space domain awareness, ensuring the Space Force can always secure our nation's interests in, from, and to space,”

DAF kicks off department-level exercise series in Pacific

ARLINGTON, Va. (AFNS) – The Department of the Air Force launched its Pacific-focused first-in-a-generation Department-Level Exercise (DLE) series today in multiple locations across the United States and Indo-Pacific areas of responsibility.

This DLE is scheduled to feature 12,000 U.S. Air and Space Force personnel, more than 350 bomber, fighter, cargo and refueling aircraft, and space-based and space-enabled capabilities to include, but not limited to, space electromagnetic warfare, space domain awareness, orbital warfare and navigational warfare.

"This exercise, the first of its kind since the Cold War, marks a pivotal moment for our Air Force and Space Force, bringing together Airmen and Guardians to bolster our nation's warfighting capabilities,” said Secretary of the Air Force Troy Meink.

“Training like this alongside the Joint Force, our allies and partners in realistic operating environments using distributed operations is how we integrate capabilities to overcome any national security challenge.”

The DLE series will incorporate multiple command exercises into one overall threat deterrence scenario, including Resolute Force Pacific (REFORPAC), Resolute Space, Mobility Guardian, Emerald Warrior and Bamboo Eagle 25-3.

It will also integrate multiple allies and partners in specific component exercises with shared interests. Partner integration is critical to U.S. efforts to ensure regional and global peace and stability and provides a decisive advantage against complex threats.

"Exercising at this speed, scale and tempo is how we prepare for the future fight,” said Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. David Allvin.

“We need Airmen to move fast and think outside the box, disrupting the operational status quo. We also build trust and understanding through deliberate planning, operating and learning alongside our partners across the Pacific."

A large part of this expanded exercise construct is tackling the logistical challenges that come with the sustainment of operations over time.

Air Mobility Command has been preparing for this month-long effort for nearly two years, incorporating valuable lessons from Mobility Guardian 2023.

For this year’s iteration AMC plans to showcase improved sustainment operations, both as part of the DLE and as part of U.S. Transportation Command’s Ultimate Distribution exercise.

“Validating our ability to sustain operations by rapidly flowing forces and conducting Agile Combat Employment (ACE) throughout the Indo-Pacific theater is essential,” said Allvin.

“Practicing these large muscle movements and learning to integrate seamlessly with our regional allies and partners ensures we can project power and provide options to the President.”

With the inclusion of Resolute Space, the series also incorporates the U.S. Space Force’s capabilities in much the same way they would be integrated in a real-world scenario.

“Resolute Space sends a clear message: Guardians are prepared to fight and win in space shoulder to shoulder with our joint and allied partners,” said Chief of Space Operations Gen. Chance Saltzman.

“By training at this unprecedented scale, we’re sharpening warfighter instincts, strengthening combat credibility and proving our commitment to deliver peace through strength in the face of any challenge.”

Through this DLE, the Department of the Air Force is preparing to be a stronger, more lethal deterrent force, to provide an advantage against competitors and adversaries across all domains, and to ensure regional stability in the Indo-Pacific and beyond.

Trump promises Zelensky ten missiles – Axios

US President Donald Trump has promised to send more Patriot missiles to Ukraine, but the number will apparently be very limited, Axios has reported, citing sources briefed on a recent call between Trump and Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky.

Last week, the Pentagon announced the suspension of some weapons shipments to Ukraine, including precision munitions and air defense interceptors, citing concerns over depleting US stockpiles.

On Monday, however, Trump stated that Washington would continue sending “defensive weapons” to Kiev.

Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell has also confirmed that, at the president’s direction, the Department of Defense would “send additional defensive weapons to Ukraine.”

Trump did not disclose exactly which weapons would be delivered or in what amount, but according to Axios, the US leader told Zelensky during a phone call on Friday that the US would immediately send ten Patriot missile interceptors.

Each Patriot missile is said to cost approximately $4 million, and the US defense industry is currently believed to produce around 500 annually. US air defense protocols typically require at least two missiles to be shot to intercept a single incoming target.

Trump also pledged to help Kiev find other ways to get munitions. Trump has reportedly been pressing Germany to contribute more of its own weapons to Kiev, including one of its Patriot batteries.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, who is said to have personally ordered the recent pause, has reportedly identified available Patriot batteries in Germany and Greece that the US could finance and redirect to Ukraine.

It remains unclear when the promised missiles will be delivered or whether additional shipments will follow. The latest pledge, involving only ten interceptor missiles, comes amid a broader trend under Trump of reducing US military support for Ukraine.

Unlike the administration of former US President Joe Biden, Trump has been seeking to negotiate a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine.

His administration has resumed direct talks with Moscow and been seeking alternative avenues for resolving the conflict.

Meanwhile, Moscow has criticized the conflicting statements coming out of Washington regarding weapons deliveries to Ukraine.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov pointed out that the US is continuing to deliver weapons, while noting that European countries have been particularly active in supplying arms to Kiev.

He stressed that such actions do not promote peace and just “help prolong hostilities.”

Russia had previously welcomed signs of declining Western military support for Ukraine, with Peskov stating that fewer foreign weapons could help speed a resolution to the conflict.

At the same time, he cautioned that it was still too early to determine whether the trend will continue.

Moscow has consistently maintained that foreign arms shipments to Ukraine only lead to further bloodshed without affecting the overall outcome of the conflict.

Former President Joe Biden’s erstwhile personal physician wants to delay testifying before the House oversight committee, citing the need for an agreement that will respect doctor-patient confidentiality norms as part of the investigation into Biden’s physical and cognitive deterioration while in office.

AP reports Dr. Kevin O’Connor, who served as Biden’s physician at the White House, requested a delay until the end of July or early August “to reach an accommodation that will protect the very substantial privilege and confidentiality interests of Dr. O’Connor and former President Biden,” according to a letter from his lawyer sent to Rep. James Comer of Kentucky on Saturday.

House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. James Comer (R-KY) subpoenaed O’Connor just last month in an effort to force him to publicly testify about what he knew and when he knew it, as Breitbart News reported.

AP obtained a copy of the letter to confirm the latest request for a delay. It further reported:

A spokesperson for Oversight Republicans said the committee will follow the House’s deposition guidelines, which allow for witnesses to assert privilege on a question-by-question basis, with the committee chair ruling on each claim.

But O’Connor is not allowed, in the committee’s view, to delay or decline a congressional subpoena due to concerns over questions about potentially privileged information.

The House Oversight Committee first requested O’Connor testify before the committee last July, but the Biden White House blocked his testimony.

Comer renewed his request in May and later subpoenaed the doctor in June.

As Breitbart News reported, the physical and mental state of Biden during his last years has long been a topic for debate.

Ukraine sanctions 5 Chinese firms for supplying components used in Russian drones

President Volodymyr Zelensky signed an order on July 8 imposing sanctions on five Chinese-registered companies accused of supplying components found in Russian Shahed-type drones used to attack Ukraine.

The decree follows a statement by Ukraine's Security Service (SBU), which said it recovered Chinese-made parts from downed drones during a July 4 air assault on Kyiv.

Sanctions were imposed on Central Asia Silk Road International Trade, Suzhou Ecod Precision Manufacturing, Shenzhen Royo Technology, Shenzhen Jinduobang Technology, and Ningbo BLIN Machinery.

The list was published on the Presidential Office's website alongside the official decision by Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council.

Russia's domestically produced drones based on Iran's Shahed-136 is a loitering munition extensively used by Russia to target Ukrainian cities, and is assembled with components sourced from around the world. Kyiv has warned that some of these parts continue to flow through countries that have not joined Western sanctions.

China has emerged as one of Moscow's key wartime partners, helping Russia circumvent sanctions and becoming the largest supplier of dual-use goods aiding its defense sector.

Vladyslav Vlasiuk, the Ukrainian president's commissioner for sanctions, told journalists on July 7 that Russia's growing ability to sustain weapons production is being driven by a flow of Chinese components and materials.

Zelensky has repeatedly accused China of backing Russia and providing technological and logistical support for its war effort.

Trump Tells Brazil: ‘Leave Bolsonaro Alone… He Is Not Guilty of Anything’

President Donald Trump published a message on Monday in defense of longtime ally Jair Bolsonaro, who served as president of Brazil during Trump’s first term, accusing the Brazilian judiciary of doing a “terrible thing” by launching multiple criminal investigations against him and banning him from running for office.

Bolsonaro governed Brazil from 2018 to 2023, losing narrowly in the 2022 election to formerly imprisoned radical socialist Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. Lula, 79, is currently serving his third term as president, marked by a dramatic increase in politically motivated trials against Bolsonaro, his family, and his supporters. Aiding Lula’s legal campaigns against conservatives is the Brazilian top court, the Supreme Federal Tribunal (STF), which has launched multiple violent raids and investigations against conservatives on allegation of spreading “fake news.” STF Minister Alexandre de Moraes, one of the court’s most prominent judges, began persecuting conservatives under the guise of fighting “fake news” during the Bolsonaro presidency and has since expanded his actions to target the former president himself.

Jair Bolsonaro initially faced three main criminal allegations: falsifying a coronavirus vaccine card to enter the United States in 2022; inappropriately keeping expensive jewelry gifted to Brazil by Saudi Arabia; and leading an attempted “coup” to oust the current leftist government including a plot to poison Lula. Bolsonaro, 70, is facing up to 39 years in prison on the “coup” charges alone.

Prosecutors moved in March to drop the vaccine card charges, but the other cases remain in vigor, and Bolsonaro is currently banned from running for any public office despite polls showing him in the lead for the 2026 presidential election.

Trump mentioned Bolsonaro’s positive polling and celebrated his presidency in his statement on Monday, published on his website, Truth Social.

“Brazil is doing a terrible thing on their treatment of former President Jair Bolsonaro,” Trump wrote. “I have watched, as has the World, as they have done nothing but come after him, day after day, night after night, month after month, year after year!”

“He is not guilty of anything, except having fought for THE PEOPLE,” the president emphasized.

Russian Military Drone Crashes Into Dacha in Republic of Tatarstan

A Russian military drone crashed into a dacha in the republic of Tatarstan on Tuesday following an apparent malfunction during a test flight, the drone’s developer said.

Officials in Kazan, Tatarstan’s capital, said a “civilian” aircraft lost control and fell onto a dacha north of the city at 9:10 a.m. local time, sparking a brief fire but causing no injuries.

Videos shared on social media showed flames engulfing the building.

Regional transportation prosecutors launched a preliminary investigation, saying the drone crashed about 1 kilometer (0.6 miles) from its landing strip.

The drone’s developer, the Yekaterinburg-based Ural Civil Aviation Factory, confirmed its new Altius model crashed during landing and blamed “unidentified external electronic warfare devices” for disrupting the flight.

Under development since 2011, Altius has been plagued by delays and cost overruns. In 2018, police arrested its chief designer on fraud charges.

The drone, seen as a rival to the U.S.-developed MQ-9 Reaper and RQ-4 Global Hawk, made its first flight in 2019.

Russia’s Defense Ministry says the six-ton drone can fly for more than 24 hours and conduct a full range of optical, radio and radar reconnaissance missions.

The United States sanctioned the Ural Civil Aviation Factory in 2023 for developing Altius and servicing other drones used in Russia’s war against Ukraine.

If you don’t like immigrants, then you are not American. That was actor Sean Gunn’s declaration when asked about the new superwoke Superman movie that casts its hero as an immigrant outsider.

Gunn plays Maxwell Lord in the film, according to IMDB.

The actor outlined his views as part of an interview Monday canvassing responses to the film which is directed by his brother James Gunn.

“We support ‘our people’ we love our immigrants, and yes Superman is an immigrant, and yes the people that we support in this country are immigrants, if you don’t like that then you are not American,” Gunn said.

“People who say no to immigrants are against the American way. That is what the American dream is all about.”

Gunn failed to note the U.S. admits roughly one million individuals annually for lawful permanent residence. In 2022, there were 2.6 million new authorized immigrant arrivals. Illegal immigrants have been known to double that figure.

He spoke to a Variety reporter:

Director James Gunn confirmed the upcoming Superman iteration will be “about politics,” saying the iconic superhero is “an immigrant that came from other places.”

“Superman is the story of America,” he told he Sunday Times in a recent interview. “An immigrant that came from other places and populated the country, but for me, it is mostly a story that says basic human kindness is a value and is something we have lost.”

Last week, the man who portrays the Man of Steel, actor David Corenswet, found himself unable to relay Superman’s slogan, and replaced “The American way” part of the saying with “and good things.”

The character of Superman, first introduced in 1938, was created by writer Jerry Siegel and artist Joe Shuster in Cleveland, Ohio.

As New Yorkers flock to the beach for summer fun, some unexpected guests have been making quite a splash in the headlines.

Shark sightings have seen a notable uptick in frequency at spots like Rockaway Beach, where city-operated drones have spotted our finned friends on a record number of occasions.

According to information released by the parks department and reported by Gothamist, since July 1, sharks have been detected by these high-flying eyes nine times, leading to a cumulative 12 hours of beach closure.

This shark surveillance uptick isn't necessarily because the sharks have suddenly decided to visit the Rockaways en masse.

The increased presence is largely thanks to more drones patrolling the skies, as experts and city officials have noted in recent statements.

"The people flying these drones are now seeing what we've known and what we've been observing on these whale watching boats for a long time, is a really vibrant ecosystem just off the shore of New York City," Chris St. Lawrence, researcher with Gotham Whale, told Gothamist.

The Department of Emergency Management is currently deploying four or more drone teams during the busiest beach days, highlights a report from Aries Dela Cruz, an official with the city's emergency management office.

For beachgoers, the experience can be, to put it mildly, a disruption. When drones, operated this time by the fire department, spotted a shark at Beach 102nd Street, an hour-long closure affecting 37 blocks was implemented.

This response comes in the wake of more aggressive measures taken after an incident in 2023, when a swimmer was badly injured by a shark bite at the same beach.

Coverage by NBC New York reminds us that these sightings, while concerning for some, serve as evidence of a thriving marine ecology right in New York City's aquatic backyard.

Despite the upsurge in drone-detected shark presence, important to note is the naturalness of these occurrences. Sharks have always been out there, and technology is simply bringing that reality into sharper focus.

"The more we look for them – sharks has always been out there… but finding them is not a bad thing," commented Inspector Frank DiGiacomo, former head of the Technical Assistant Response Unit for the NYPD.

Deputy Mayor for Public Safety Kaz Daughtry, who championed the use of drones during his NYPD tenure, even defended the hour-long shut downs, insisting that knowing about a shark's proximity when you're a mere 100 feet away is knowledge worth having, as reported by Gothamist.
