"Gov. Gavin Newsom said California did not face any “imminent threats” after a news report stated that the Iranian regime planned to launch retaliatory drone attacks on his state.

“While we are not aware of any imminent threats at this time, we remain prepared for any emergency in our state,” Newsom wrote in an apparent response to the reporting by ABC News on Wednesday afternoon.

"Newsom, who has been critical of the war in Iran, said he is in contact with security and intelligence officials who are “actively monitoring reports of potential threats tied to the Middle East conflict.”

"The California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services Homeland Security Division (Cal OES) has elevated its security posture since the war in Iran started, a spokesperson for the governor told The Epoch Times in a March 11 email.

"Newsom’s response came after ABC News reported that the Iranian regime had a plan to launch retaliatory drone attacks in the Golden State.

"According to ABC News, the FBI allegedly sent an alert to California police departments warning that Iranian leaders drafted up a plan to haveretaliatory strikeson American soilifthe United States targeted their country.

"Operation Epic Fury began on Feb. 28.

“We recently acquired information thatas of early February 2026, Iran allegedly aspired to conduct a surprise attack using unmanned aerial vehicles from an unidentified vessel off the coast of the United State Homeland, specifically against unspecified targets in California,in the event that the U.S. conducted strikes against Iran,” the alert reportedly read.

"The [early February] warning was reportedly [not] distributed [until] the end of February. The ABC News report didn’t reveal the exact day.

“We have no additional information on the timing, method, target, or perpetrators of this alleged attack,” the alert stated.

"The FBI did not respond to requests for comment by publication time.

"Iran’s military capacity has been crippled since the strikes started,according to President Donald Trump.

“They’ve lost their Navy, they’ve lost their Air Force, they have no anti-aircraft apparatus at all, they have no radar, their leaders are gone and we can do a lot worse,” Trump told reporters at the White House on Wednesday.

"The Epoch Times contacted the White House for comment about any potential threats to California.

"The U.S. Central Command said on March 11 it’s moving full steam ahead to protect Americans.

“U.S. forces remain centered on very clear military objectives for eliminating Iran’s ability to project power against America and its neighbors,” CENTCOM wrote on X."

US Intel Warns Iran Regime ‘Not in Danger’ of Collapse Even After Top Leaders Wiped Out in Strikes

.S. intelligence agencies believe Iran’s government remains firmly in control despite nearly two weeks of sustained military strikes that killed senior leaders and commanders, according to officials.

Sources familiar with the reports told Reuters on Thursday that the clerical regime remains cohesive and in authority across the country even after the killing of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in the opening hours of the conflict on February 28.

A “multitude” of intelligence reports provide “consistent analysis that the regime is not in danger” of collapse and “retains control of the Iranian public,” one source told Reuters on Monday.

The most recent assessment was completed within the past few days, the source added.

The findings come as political pressure grows on President Donald Trump to bring the largest U.S. military campaign since the 2003 Iraq invasion to an end, amid rising oil prices and uncertainty over the war’s objectives.

Since the operation began, U.S. and Israeli forces have targeted Iran’s air defences, nuclear infrastructure and senior leadership figures, killing dozens of officials and high-ranking commanders in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

Earlier this week, Iran’s Assembly of Experts, a powerful body of senior clerics, declared Mojtaba Khamenei, son of the slain leader, as the new supreme leader.

Western banks in Dubai have evacuated staff from their offices amid a warning from Iran that it will target US and Israeli economic centres across the Middle East.

British bank Standard Chartered, US multinational Citi and two other companies told employees to leave their offices in the DubaiInternational Financial Centre (DIFC) and in Oud Metha on Wednesday.

London-based Standard Charteredhas ​a large presence in the United Arab Emirates ⁠and offices, including in the DIFC, a financial hub home to large international ​banks and law firms.

Many staff ‌at ⁠foreign and local businesseshave been working from homefollowing US and Israeli attacks on Iran, which prompted Tehran to fire missiles at targets ​across the Middle ​East, causing ⁠damage and deaths across the Gulf and travel chaos.
