Toronto has been edging towards becoming some freakish Detroit Chicago Jew York type hybrid city for quite a few years, probably accelerated by the condo building boom that was like.. 8 years ago, or something? There was nothing really "extreme" going on in this city during this time so the metric for being a shithole degenerate city was never quite met.
I think however that between the van running down pedestrians, and the restaurant bombing (in sauga but still "the mega city"), 2018 could probably considered the year that the dumpster fire was officially ignited. The gun violence is only complimentary to this fact but is also telling. The downtown core is seemingly a battlegrounds at nightime, with its gunfire. Now there have been innocents killed by guns downtown before so it's not particularly new, but the frequency of notable incidents is on the rise. Then again, 2005 could be extreme compared to 1978, so "noteable" is a very relative word and saying something "is on the rise" is a little moot, as it will likely always be on the rise.
So let us shift focus on what makes this city a "dumpster fire". It's not so much that the incidents are shocking, but that more of them will be both directed at random people, and also possibly unresolved. Two restaurant bombers are loose and if they're not caught well LOL @ the absolute state of Canada.
Given enough time, niggers will be leaning out of car windows and shooting into bus shelters full of people, Chicago style. The case will go unresolved, and while " unfortunate", it will not be all that shocking. The frog that is boiled slowly never jumps from the pot. I would've told you years ago that things were shitty but people here before me could say the same. Ultimetly, it's the unresolved randomness that truly makes the difference so I'd say that as it stands now, 2018 is a noteable point in the utter downfall of a once quiet country. I could be wrong though, label wise, because if another year brings 5 attacks on pedestrians, 2018 will be a side note. And so on, and so forth. But for now, 2018 is a noteworthy year. So CONGRATULATIONS, Toronto! You've entered into a new level of being.
Can't wait for what the future holds!
