The Simpsons is pretty fucked up if you think about it.
We've all been kind of conditioned to see it as normal that Homer strangles his son. Imagine if he strangled Lisa instead?
Virtually all male characters are retards and female characters are either more moral or more intelligent than male characters, or both.
Another thing the writers baked into Simpsons family dynamic is that Marge always listens to Lisa and is a good mother for Lisa. But every time Bart has a problem, Marge ignores him. This is rarely addressed and when it is, it's treated like a funny joke. Even if Homer didn't abuse his son, Marge is actually a horrible parent.
We're all conditioned to view males as subhuman by watching how we're treated on TV. If Bart were a real kid, he'd probably be on drugs or suicidal by 10th grade.
