Canada’s international student program is once again under scrutiny after a new auditor general report detailed issues around the integrity of the program, including gaps in oversight and enforcement when it comes to potential fraud.

Auditor General Karen Hogan reported on March 24 that the immigration department failed to verify whether study permit holders were complying with the terms of their permits, and only conducted 4,057 investigations out of the over 153,000 cases flagged in 2023 and 2024.

The report also found that Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) in 2024 approved fewer than half of the forecast number of new post-secondary study permits. This reduction in new study permits disproportionately affected smaller provinces, according to the report.

The rapid decline in new permits came after former Immigration Minister Marc Miller admitted in 2024 that temporary immigration in Canada, including that of international students, had gotten “out of control.” Ottawa had rapidly increased immigration in the preceding years, leading to stress on the country’s housing, health care, and employment.

Toronto 'influenced by global conflicts, online radicalization, and extremism, along with a significant increase in hate crimes,' police say

The Toronto Police Service has announced the creation of a new counter-terrorism unit, promising “high visibility deployments” in its future operations.

“In response to an evolving security landscape, the Toronto Police Service is taking operational action to keep our communities safe by strengthening how we identify, prevent, and respond to terrorism and violent extremism,” TPS said in a press release Tuesday announcing the creation of a dedicated Counter-Terrorism Security Unit or CTSU.

“At a time of heightened tensions, and in light of the firearm discharges targeting synagogues and the U.S. Consulate in Toronto and other violent, hate-motivated incidents around the world, the Toronto Police Service continues to take proactive action,” it continued. “The CTSU will strengthen our existing security partnerships with the RCMP, the OPP, and local and international law enforcement partners, to identify and disrupt potential threats impacting Toronto and the GTA.”

The police said the new unit is not connected to one immediate threat, but cautioned that Toronto “is seeing a more complex threat environment influenced by global conflicts, online radicalization, and extremism, along with a significant increase in hate crimes.”

Toronto police said they are also launching Task Force Guardian, “to enhance police visibility in key locations including critical infrastructure, high-traffic public spaces, tourist attractions, and places of worship.” The initiative will involve uniformed officers with patrol rifles like the C8 carbine, and other long guns.

“The presence of these officers is intended to deter potential acts of violence and ensure officers are positioned to respond quickly if needed,” the police said. “The deployments are being actioned to protect people, support communities, and ensure residents can gather and move through the city safely.” Continue...

A Canadian man was sentenced to 46 years in a U.S. prison after pleading guilty to having sex with a 13-year-old Indiana girl last year.

The Hendricks County Prosecutor’s office said Monday that Mahdi Hosseini, a 22-year-old from an undisclosed town in Manitoba, entered guilty pleas to child molesting and other charges related to his interactions with the teenager he’d met online and later travelled to meet in Avon, her hometown west of Minneapolis.

“This defendant deliberately sought out a child, gained her trust, deceived her family, and crossed international borders to exploit her,” prosecutor Loren Delp said in a statement on Facebook.

Based on court documents reported by FOX59 and The Winnipeg Free Press after his arrest in early September, Hosseini first made contact with the minor in April through Discord, a social media messaging platform, where they cultivated a relationship that soon led to the exchange of indecent messages and photos.

The girl’s mother told authorities she was aware the girl was chatting with what she believed was a “boy” in Canada, but given the geographical distance — the border at Emerson, Manitoba is more than 1,500 kilometres away from Avon by car — she put her uneasiness aside and allowed the conversation to continue.

Hosseini, posing as the father of one of the girl’s friends, arrived at a garage sale at the mother’s home and, after purchasing some items, invited her daughter to join him and his alleged daughter for a museum visit.

She agreed, but as they drove away, she noticed his Manitoba license plates and then recalled her daughter’s communication with a Canadian “boy.”

Highway 44 westbound in Laclede County, Missouri, was shut down on March 17 after a semi-truck collided with a vehicle and caught fire.

“The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Troop I reported that a westbound I-44 was shut down at the 116-mile marker for a tractor-trailer fire,” KRCG reported last week.

A witness caught the aftermath of the accident after emergency responders arrived to the scene.

The semi-truck was completely engulfed in flames as the driver looked on in disbelief.

“Holy crap! What happened? Could you not see because of the sun?” a witness who goes by the TikTok username Sweetpeach 432.

The Indian driver could not communicate with the witness. It is unclear where the driver obtained his CDL.

“I couldn’t see either! It might blow up. Do you think we should get further back?” the witness said to the Punjab driver. “I’m glad you’re okay.”

“I don’t understand how you did it! You hit somebody else! I didn’t realize that!” she said.

The majority of Canadian MPs have voted to pass a Liberal bill that will allow the criminalization of religious expression and belief when quoting parts of the Bible, including about homosexuality and gender.

Early Wednesday evening, MPs from the Liberal Party and the Bloc Québécois, in a 186–137 vote, passed Bill C-9, known as the “Combatting Hate Act.” Conservatives, NDP, and Green Party MPs voted against the bill in a rare form of unity among the usually opposing parties.

The bill now heads to Canada’s rubber-stamp Senate for review.

A last-minute effort by the Conservatives to change the wording of the bill failed to pass.

Earlier this week, Liberal MPs forced the bill through the report stage, after earlier, as reported by LifeSiteNews, shutting down all debate on the bill in the committee stage.

In comments sent to LifeSiteNews, Campaign Life Coalition (CLC) blasted the passage of Bill C-9 and called upon “Christians and pro-life advocates to prepare for increasing hostility.”

“With the passage of Bill C-9 in the House, Christians and pro-life advocates will almost certainly face an entirely new level of hostility, as the door swings open to actual persecution under a cloak of supposed legality,” said CLC’s Campaigns Manager David Cooke, who is also a Christian pastor.

UFC president Dana White has offered to cover all medical expenses, including treatment at a top-tier Los Angeles brain trauma hospital, for 12-year-old Tumbler Ridge shooting survivor Maya Gebala.

Maya's mother, Cia Edmonds, shared the great news on social media this past Wednesday, March 25, where she has been chronicaling her daughter's healing process since the tragic shooting by a transgender perpetrator last month.

“After a week of being in the ICU we were contacted by the president of the UFC, Dana White, he'd offered Maya full paid medical in one of the world's most top tier hospitals in LA California,” she wrote.

The UFC boss had previously included Maya Gebala’s name in the octagon ring to help raise awareness about her plight.

More recently, Edmonds has described positive progress made by her daughter, noting that she's slowly becoming stable enough to be able to travel and accept the UFC boss’ offer.

“The children's hospital has an extensive brain trauma clinic and more resources. However, Maya hadn't been stable enough to travel. Until now,” Edmonds wrote.

12 year old Maya was targeted in the tragic shooting in Tumbler Ridge on February 10, 2026. She was shot in the head and neck after attempting to lock the school library’s door amid gunfire by transgender Jesse Van Rootselaar.

Edmonds has gained over 100k followers on Facebook as she posts uplifting news of her daughter's progress. Doctors initially believed that she would not survive the night she arrived, yet Maya has shown great resilience following several successful surgeries so far. However, she cannot yet verbalize due to a breathing tube in her throat.

“Maya had a bullet enter above her left eyebrow, shatter her skull, and drag bone fragments creating a path of destruction and exiting the same. She had another in her throat, with minimal injury. I believe with my entire heart that she was truly 'living on a prayer,'" an update from two days ago reads.

Canada has hit NATO’s defence spending target of 2 percent of GDP, after a year marked by the biggest jump in military expenditures “in generations,” Prime Minister Mark Carney says.

“For the first time since the fall of the Berlin Wall, we'll be spending that 2 percent of GDP on defence,” Carney said at a press conference in Halifax on March 26, noting Canada has spent more than $60 billion on defence and security to meet the target. He said this fiscal year saw the “largest year-on-year increase in defence investment in generations.”

Carney also announced $3 billion in additional funding for infrastructure and defence-related initiatives in Atlantic Canada.

The 2 percent milestone follows criticism from U.S. President Donald Trump and other NATO allies over Canada’s failure to reach the defence spending benchmark. It also came on the same day as NATO announced in an annual report that all allies who have reported defence expenditure met or exceeded the target, with many members making “steep increases” in defence spending.

Despite the boost, Canada remains among the lowest defence spenders, in line with countries such as Portugal, Spain, Albania and Belgium. The NATO report indicates Canada’s defence expenditure hit exactly 2 percent of GDP this fiscal year, which ends March 31.

Barrie, Ont., music teacher, Jennifer Elise Lawrence, is headed to criminal court to face charges of sex‑related offences involving a male student.

The charges against Lawrence, 32, include including sexual exploitation, child luring, sexual assault, and making sexually explicit materials available to a person under 18, reports the New York Post.

The allegations stem from incidents between February and April 2025.

Police charged her following an investigation.

Lawrence was a teacher at Maple Ridge Secondary School in Barrie. She had been a teacher for about four years.

She was removed from the classroom in April of last year, reports CTV.

Lawrence has been released on a promise to pay $1,000. She has also been prohibited from working as a teacher. She cannot volunteer or be in a position of trust or authority or have any contact or communication with children.

A provincial judge has committed the matter to trial, with the prosecution having enough evidence for a trial to proceed.

Two publication bans were ordered last April protecting the identity of the complainant and any evidence heard in court from being released.

The allegations against Lawrence have not been tested in court.

The trial is set for the September 2026 in Barrie.

As with past baptisms, some of them will likely not return to the church after receiving their baptismal certificate. It is simply a means to an end — claiming asylum.

When a parishioner congratulates one of the newly baptized Farsi speakers, mentioning Iran’s significant Christian and Jewish populations, as well as Muslim, they reply in heavily accented English.

“I hate Muslims.”

While not quite the Christian message one might have expected, the conversion of Iranians to Christianity has been an increasingly popular trend over the past decade (one study suggests as many as 1.2 million Christian converts in Iran alone).

It seems partly motivated by contempt for Iran’s authoritarian regime, which is conflated with the faith of over a billion people — the same sentiment shared by crowds of anti-regime protesters flooding the downtown cores of Canadian cities most weekends since late December.

But one Ontario man was able to defend his home from an intruder with a firearm — and was commended by Ontario Premier Doug Ford for his valor.

At 1:00 a.m. on March 17, police officers responded to reports of a shooting in Vaughan, Ontario, per a report from CBC.

The police said multiple masked suspects — brandishing at least one firearm — forced entry into a home.

At the time, an elderly woman and a middle-aged man were home.

The suspects were recorded leaving the home and piling into a black pickup truck.

Shortly afterward, a 24-year-old man was dropped off at the hospital in the Toronto area.

Ford was asked to comment on the situation on March 18, and he replied that intruders “need to be shot,” per CBC.

“Congratulations for shooting this guy — should have shot him a couple more times as far as I’m concerned,” Ford reacted.

The official meanwhile condemned federal authorities in Canada for “going after legal, law-abiding gun owners,” and blasted “weak-kneed judges” who allow repeat offenders out of prison.

“They always want to protect the bad guys, the judges always want to protect the Charter rights — how about the charter of rights of the people, to keep them safe rather than always protecting these criminals,” Ford commented.

The 24-year-old suspect who was dropped off at the hospital is known to police.

He now faces charges of robbery with a firearm, disguise with intent, and breaching a probation order.

The individual is known to police for “numerous violent offenses” — including a high-speed chase in July 2020, during which he rode a stolen truck with the owner’s eight-year-old daughter still inside.

Despite Ford’s support of self-defense, other senior Canadian officials condemned his statement.

New Democratic Party Leader Marit Stiles asserted that Ford’s remarks were “very irresponsible nonsense.”

“This premier has been premier of this province for eight long years now,” she said.

“If people in Ontario feel less safe today, then that’s on him as the premier of this province.”

Green Party Leader Mike Schreiner also claimed it was “irresponsible for the Premier to be making comments encouraging violence or celebrating the loss of life.”

“He should focus on investing in measures that will make our province safer and empower first responders to do their jobs to serve and protect our communities,” he added.

Rothschilds were raided by French Police in Epstein probe; but, today, a former executive controls Vatican Finances.

Just a few days ago, the top exorcists in the Catholic Church met with Pope Leo XIV to ask of him to reinforce the ranks of priests and bishops trained to deal with the surge in occult and satanic practices.

This is fact, not a rumor or unverified report (check at the bottom of the post).

But today, Leo appointed François Pauly as next president of the Vatican Bank.

Before we can even evaluate whether this is a good choice or not, a thick fog has risen with wild conspiracy claims that an ancient secret society is taking direct control of the Catholic Church’s finances.

Pauly is the new president of the supervisory board for the ‘Institute for the Works of Religion’, managing the church’s money, properties and charitable works.

The problem is where he comes from.

“Conspiracy theorists immediately seized on Pauly’s ties to the powerful Rothschild group – one of the most famous international banking families in history that has been alleged to be part of the secret society known as the Illuminati.”

While no one needs to believe in the Illuminati, the notion that elite bankers, politicians, Freemasons and powerful families worldwide act to manipulate governments and world events is hardly controversial anymore.

“Pauly, who is set to take over as the Vatican Bank’s board president on April 28, previously served as general manager of the Edmond de Rothschild group, a private banking arm of the Rothschild family in Switzerland.

The Paris headquarters of Edmond de Rothschild was raided by police on March 20 as part of an investigation into a former employee’s links to Jeffrey Epstein. Files released in February show Epstein exchanged several emails with the bank, but was never in contact with Pauly.”

Epstein boasted of his ties with the bankers of the super elites, as you can read in Billionaire Les Wexner Under Oath Tells Lawmakers Jeffrey Epstein Was a Financial Adviser for The Rothschild Family (VIDEO).

And, of course we must never forget that Ghislaine Maxwell Says Lady Rothschild Introduced Prince Andrew to Jeffrey Epstein – Philanthropist Also Introduced Disgraced Financier to Alan Dershowitz and Bill Clinton.

This means that even if we do not subscribe to the most extreme allegations against the banking family, there is still pkenty of reasons to be wary of this association with the Holy Father.

While the usual Liberal-Globalist crowd in Britain celebrated the approval of the ‘Assisted Dying’ bill in the House of Commons, they were headed to a bitter disappointment.

The House of Lords, that is, the upper chamber of the UK parliament, stated today that the proposal will fail at this attempt.

Reuters reported:

“’The Bill does not sufficiently guard against coercion or protect the most vulnerable people in our society’, more than 50 members of the House of Lords said in a letter to lawmakers in the House of Commons lower house ​of parliament, seen by Reuters.”

It’s important to always bring the Canadian experience, where 5% of deaths now come from ‘Assisted Dying’, and where the many safeguards are ignored, and medical professionals routinely pressure frail and vulnerable people to ‘opt for it’.

George Freeman, lawmaker from ​the Conservative Party:

“’I don’t want to live in a country where we’ve inadvertently said to the elderly, the frail, the disabled that taking your own life is to be encouraged’,” he said at the time.”

“Starmer has voted in favor of assisted dying, but intervening in a decision he has said is up to the consciences of ⁠individual members, ​would be politically sensitive.

Local elections are due in May when the populist Reform UK party, whose leader Nigel Farage ​has opposed the bill, is expected to do well.

‘It would look like the government is taking sides’, said Daniel Gover, political lecturer at Queen Mary University of London. ‘I think that is something that he would want to avoid’.”
