Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy revealed that there have been about 1,500 truck drivers who do not speak English taken off the roads as part of a push to ensure foreign truck drivers are not causing accidents.

Back in 2016, the Obama administration stopped enforcing English proficiency requirements for truckers, according to a report from The Daily Signal.

But in May, Duffy issued a guidance making clear that truck drivers who cannot demonstrate a proficiency in English cannot drive.

The 1,500 drivers were taken off the roads within the first 3o days of the rules once more being enforced, according to The Daily Signal.

Russia’s first patients could begin receiving a newly developed cancer vaccine within the next few months, Alexander Gintsburg, director of the Gamaleya Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology, has announced. The breakthrough drug is a personalized, AI-assisted, mRNA-based vaccine designed to target malignant tumors using the patient’s own genetic data.

Notoriously Liberal Circuit Court Rules LA Covid Vax Mandate Must Stand – Even If It Doesn’t Work: ‘Efficacy is Irrelevant’

The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled Thursday that a COVID vaccine mandate for the Los Angeles Unified School District should be upheld even if the shot cannot stop transmission of the virus.

The ruling overturned an earlier decision stating that the district violated employees’ constitutional rights when they were fired for not getting the jab, Legal News Wire reported.

The challenge was originally brought back in 2021 by an organization called California Educators for Medical Freedom. They were joined by individual plaintiffs, and later by the Health Freedom Defense Fund.

The lawsuit said the district violated the rights of workers to refuse medical treatment by forcing them to get the COVID vaccine while offering no exemptions and threatening to fire them.

A federal judge dismissed the case, relying on precedent set in Jacobson v. Massachusetts. That case, however, dealt with smallpox, which had an inoculation that was proven effective. It was also decided 120 years ago.

The fired workers then appealed to the Ninth Circuit.

The district tried to dismiss the lawsuit, claiming the mandate was no longer in place. The court admonished them, however, accusing the district of trying to “tactically manipulate” the judiciary by constantly rescinding and then reupping the mandate to gain a dismissal, according to Legal News Wire.

Townsville, Australia – Japan's Air Self-Defense Force has taken part in a multinational tabletop space defense exercise in Australia aimed at enhancing cooperation among like-minded countries.

The drill, part of the Talisman Sabre exercise led by the United States and Australia, was held at a military facility in Townsville, northeastern Australia, in July, bringing together nearly 10 countries.

The SDF, which has participated in tabletop exercises hosted by the U.S. military, took part in the Talisman Sabre drill for the first time.

Participants worked on procedures for dealing with and detecting satellite jamming signals and on how to avoid collisions with space debris.

The Outer Space Treaty, effective since 1967, prohibits the signatories from placing nuclear weapons or other weapons of mass destruction in space while emphasizing the principle of peaceful use of outer space.

However, China and Russia are believed to be developing so-called killer satellites capable of destroying other nations' satellites.

Last month, Japan's Defense Ministry said in its space domain defense guidelines that countries like China and Russia have intensified efforts to develop technologies that disable foreign satellites, increasing threats in the domain.

The ministry plans to launch a space domain awareness satellite for surveillance in fiscal 2026 as part of moves to enhance Japan's collaboration with its ally and like-minded nations.

"There are no borders in space, so it is impossible for a single country to cope with (problems) alone," said 1st Lt. Keigo Haneishi, who served as the ASDF commander during the tabletop drill.

"The exercise provided an opportunity to deepen mutual understanding and cooperation among like-minded countries."

The image, posted to the party’s official account on X, shows US President Donald Trump standing in front of a bright yellow sedan. The caption reads:

“A Big Beautiful Bill will help bring back the great American car,” referencing legislation recently signed by Trump to extend tax cuts and promote domestic automobile production.

But online commentators quickly noticed the car was no symbol of Detroit. “That’s a Soviet VAZ-2101, better known as a Lada 1200,” read one top comment, accompanied by laughing emojis.

Auto experts confirmed the mistake. “That car is either a Lada 2101 or a Fiat 124 — and certainly not American,” said Artem Bobtsov, speaking to RBK on Saturday.

“The Fiat 124 was the model the Soviets used to build their first Zhiguli, so it’s possible the image features either. But what’s clear is that it isn’t American-made.”

RBK suggests the image may have come from a European stock photo database. Auto analyst Maxim Kadakov noted, “This car appears to be registered in Hungary. I

t’s likely the designers just grabbed a rusted-out old photo from the internet to avoid copyright issues with American manufacturers.”

The post was meant to celebrate Trump’s so-called “Big Beautiful Bill,” a sweeping tax and spending law passed in July. The legislation includes tax breaks for Americans buying US-assembled vehicles and cuts to federal spending.

Ukrainian attack kills woman near Europe’s largest nuclear power plant – officials

A woman was burned alive in her vehicle in a Ukrainian drone and artillery strike on Europe’s largest nuclear power facility, according to regional authorities and plant officials in Energodar, in Russia’s Zaporozhye Region.

The Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) was brought under Russian control in March 2022, shortly after which the region’s residents voted in a referendum to join Russia.

At around the same time, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) deployed a monitoring mission to the ZNPP, which has remained on-site to this day.

The attack on Saturday morning targeted an auxiliary facility located in the industrial zone of Energodar, just 1,200 meters from the perimeter of the ZNPP.

According to the facility’s operator, the incident led to a fire that engulfed a civilian vehicle unrelated to the plant’s operations.

“To our deep regret, a deceased civilian was found inside the vehicle,” the plant operator reported via Telegram. Plant officials stressed that there was no threat to the nuclear reactors’ safety.

Firefighters attempting to extinguish the blaze were also targeted by a Ukrainian drone, although no casualties were reported among the emergency crews.

The mayor of Energodar, Maksim Pukhov, warned residents not to approach the site due to “a high risk of repeated attacks,” adding that Ukrainian UAVs were severely hampering rescue and investigative efforts.

The IAEA monitoring team confirmed hearing explosions and seeing smoke rising from the direction of the auxiliary site.

“Any attack in the vicinity of a nuclear power plant – regardless of the intended target – poses potential risks also for nuclear safety and must be avoided,” said IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi, who once again urged “maximum military restraint near nuclear facilities.”

The ZNPP has been repeatedly targeted by drone and artillery strikes in recent years.

Russian officials have accused Kiev of committing “nuclear terrorism” and warned that continued attacks near the facility could result in a catastrophic incident.

In previous strikes, UAVs have hit areas near the reactor containment domes and the plant’s training center.

Ninja swords are now banned in England and Wales under new laws that came into effect on Friday, the UK Home Office has confirmed.

Possessing one in public could lead to a prison sentence of up to four years. The change is part of a wider government effort to curb knife violence.

Over 1,000 weapons were surrendered in July during a month-long amnesty campaign aimed at removing dangerous items from the streets, according to the Home Office.

The ban follows a series of fatal knife attacks that have shocked the nation. In 2024, 17-year-old Axel Rudakubana killed three girls and injured 10 others at a Taylor Swift-themed children’s recital in Southport.

The attack reignited public anger and led ministers to promise tougher rules on online weapon sales, stronger age checks, and bans on certain bladed items such as zombie knives and machetes.

The Krasheninnikov volcano on Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula has erupted for the first time in modern history, after a massive offshore earthquake triggered renewed volcanic activity in the Russian Far East, local authorities have said.

The eruption occurred at 4:50am local time on Sunday, sending a 6,000-meter ash column into the air from the 1,856-meter-high peak, according to the Kamchatka Volcanic Eruption Response Team (KVERT).

“This is the first historic eruption of Krasheninnikov in 600 years,” Olga Girina, head of KVERT, told RIA Novosti. She said a lava dome was forming on the slope, with strong steam-gas emissions and a steady ash plume rising from the northern crater.

Named after explorer Stepan Krasheninnikov, the volcano comprises two overlapping stratovolcanoes within a large caldera in the Kronotsky Nature Reserve, about 50 kilometers from the regional capital, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.

The last lava effusion at Krasheninnikov occurred around the year 1463, give or take 40 years. Fumarolic activity was recorded in 1963, but no eruption had been documented until now.

KVERT raised the aviation color code from green to orange and reported that ash had drifted 75 kilometers east. Deposits were observed inside the nature reserve, but none reached nearby towns.

The latest eruption followed an 8.8-magnitude earthquake that struck southeast of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky on July 30, prompting tsunami alerts and evacuations across the Pacific.

In the immediate aftermath, Klyuchevskaya Sopka – one of Eurasia’s tallest volcanoes – also erupted in what officials called its strongest event in 70 years.

Other volcanoes, including Shiveluch, Karymsky, Bezymianny, and Kambalny, have shown increased activity, with the possibility of ash clouds reaching up to 10,000 meters.

Four Russian civilians injured in latest Ukrainian drone raid

For the second time in five days, drone triggers sirens in southern Israel before being intercepted by Israeli Air Force

The IDF said Sunday it intercepted an unmanned aerial vehicle launched from Yemen, marking the latest in a series of cross-border attacks linked to the Iran-backed Houthi rebels.

The drone triggered an alert in the southern Israeli community of Bnei Netzarim, near the Egypt-Israel border.

The military confirmed the UAV, which entered Israeli airspace from Yemen, was successfully downed by the Israeli Air Force. There were no injuries or damage reported.

Shortly after the alert was issued, the Home Front Command announced the incident had concluded.

“Following the sirens that sounded a short while ago regarding a hostile aircraft infiltration in Bnei Netzarim, a suspicious aerial target launched from Yemen was intercepted by the IAF [Israeli Air Force],” the IDF said in a statement said in a statement.

On Friday, Israeli forces intercepted a ballistic missile that prompted widespread alarms in central Israel, Jerusalem, the Dead Sea region and the West Bank.

The missile was downed without casualties, but flights were temporarily delayed at Ben Gurion International Airport.

Earlier in the week, additional UAVs were intercepted over Egyptian territory, including near the community of Shlomit in the Eshkol Regional Council. In those instances, alerts were limited, and no injuries or damage were reported.

On Tuesday, another ballistic missile was intercepted after alarms sounded in major urban areas, including Tel Aviv, the Yarkon region and parts of the West Bank.

Despite repeated Israeli airstrikes targeting Houthi infrastructure in Yemen, the rebel group has continued its attempts to strike Israeli territory.

On July 21, the IDF carried out attacks on the Houthis' main port, targeting efforts to rebuild damaged infrastructure, as well as fuel tanks, vessels used for military operations and other assets the IDF said were used to support “terror activities against Israel and naval targets in the region.”

Russian drone attack destroys Lithuanian humanitarian aid warehouse in Kyiv

A Russian drone strike destroyed a warehouse belonging to Blue/Yellow, a Lithuanian humanitarian aid organisation for Ukraine, during a large-scale attack on Kyiv on the night of 30-31 July.

Details: As noted by the organisation, their Kyiv warehouse was completely destroyed as a result of the attack. Neighbouring buildings were also seriously damaged.

Blue/Yellow reports that this warehouse was one of several that the organisation uses to temporarily store humanitarian aid from Lithuania before sending it to the front.

At the time of the impact, the premises were practically empty – only personal protective equipment (helmets, vests) for employees and medics were stored there. The organisation suffered no serious losses.

"No one in Ukraine is immune from such attacks. This is the everyday reality of war. The most important thing is that no one was injured.

The foundation has not suffered serious losses, so our work shall not stop – we will continue to collect funds and send them to the defenders of Ukraine", said the director of Blue/Yellow, Laura Paukštė.

Ukraine's air defense forces neutralized 60 Russian drones and one Iskander-M ballistic missile during a massive aerial assault overnight.

According to Ukrinform, the Ukrainian Air Force reported this via Telegram.

Between 19:00 on Saturday, August 2, and the morning of August 3, Russian forces launched 83 drones and missiles against Ukraine, including 76 Shahed-type strike drones and various types of decoy UAVs, launched from Shatalovo, Kursk, and Millerovo (Russia); one Iskander-M ballistic missile fired from Russia's Bryansk region; five S-300/S-400 surface-to-air guided missiles launched from the Kursk region; and one Kh-22 cruise missile launched over the Black Sea.

The attack was repelled by Ukrainian fighter aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare systems, drone defense units, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

As of 09:00 on Sunday, August 3, preliminary data indicates that air defenses neutralized 61 aerial targets, including 60 enemy drones (Shaheds and decoys) across the north, south, east, and center of the country, and one Iskander-M missile.

Impacts from six missiles and 16 drones were confirmed at eight locations. In addition, debris from intercepted targets was recorded falling in two other areas.

Russian drone strike damages 16 homes in Putivl community, Sumy region

Russian forces launched a drone attack on a village in the Putivl community of the Sumy region, damaging at least 16 houses.

Oleh Hryhorov, head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, shared this information in a Telegram post, according to Ukrinform.

"The Russians have once again attacked civilian infrastructure in the Sumy region. A village in the Putivl community came under enemy fire.

Preliminary reports indicate that the enemy used an UAV armed with warheads—likely two missiles," Hryhorov said.

As a result of the strike, at least 16 private houses were damaged. Windows were shattered, roofs destroyed, and several vehicles were also impacted.

Fortunately, no casualties were reported. As Ukrinform earlier reported, the Russian army shelled the Sumy region 110 times yesterday, killing a 12-year-old boy and injuring six civilians.
