Sanaa: Yemen’s Houthi group said that it launched four drone attacks targeting the Israeli cities of Haifa, Negev, Eilat, and Be’er Sheva.

Using six drones, the attacks “successfully achieved their objectives,” the group’s military spokesperson Yahya Sarea said in a statement aired by Houthi-run al-Masirah TV on Tuesday.

Sarea said the attacks were carried out in response to Israel’s “implementation of its plan to eliminate the Palestinian cause through genocide, starvation, and displacement.”

He also vowed continued attacks against Israel until “aggression on the Gaza Strip stops and the blockade is lifted.”

There were no immediate comments from Israel regarding the group’s alleged attacks, Xinhua news agency reported.

Houthi forces have fired dozens of missiles and drones toward Israel since the start of the war in Gaza in October 2023, citing solidarity with the Palestinians.

Most of the projectiles have been intercepted or have missed their targets. In response, Israel has carried out a series of strikes on ports and other infrastructure in Yemen.

Earlier on Saturday, Yemeni government forces repelled a large-scale offensive by the Houthi group in southern Yemen’s Dhalea province and killed three Houthi militants during the confrontation, a military official told Xinhua.

The official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Xinhua that the Houthis used heavy artillery in an attempt to break through government defensive lines in the Bab Ghalaq area in northern Dhalea, triggering intense fighting between the group and government forces.

The fighting lasted for about an hour before the Houthis were forced to withdraw in disarray toward their positions, whereas the government forces maintained their defensive positions, said the official.

$1,000 vs. Millions: Ukraine’s Darts Drone Scores Kills on Mi-28, Mi-8 in Flight

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) last year shot down two Russian helicopters in flight – a Mi-28 attack helicopter and a Mi-8 transport – using a drone worth only $1,000.

According to UNITED24, which released video footage showing Ukrainian drones in action on Sunday, the engagements were carried out by the SBU’s Special Operations Center “A.”

First, a clip captures a Ukrainian drone attacking a Russian Mi-28 over the Kursk region on Aug. 6, 2024.

Earlier, Kyiv Post reported that SBU sources confirmed soldiers from the M2 unit of the SBU Special Operations Center had successfully hit the Mi-28 with a long-range FPV drone.

The footage, initially posted by Ukrainian activist Serhii Sternenko on Telegram, was verified as authentic by those SBU sources.

At the time, it was unclear exactly what weapon had been used, though early reports suggested the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) had deployed an attack drone.

While operating in the Kursk region, SBU drone operator “Glyba” became the first person in history to hit a helicopter with a drone, UNITED24 reported. Just a few days later, the feat was repeated – this time against a Mi-8 transport helicopter.

The destruction of both helicopters was not carried out with an anti-aircraft system or conventional FPV quadcopter, as initially believed, but with a Ukrainian-made Darts FPV fixed-wing drone, according to Defense Express.

“And this is the exact model that the fighters of Alpha use to down not just one, but two Russian helicopters, which is pretty exciting,” UNITED24 wrote.

Glyba’s account

Glyba said that during the first incident, he was wearing FPV goggles and flying to confirm a strike on an armored vehicle carrying infantry.

“When we found that it had been destroyed, we returned to free search and saw a spot in a field,” he recalled. “At first, we thought it was a shadow from a cloud, but when we got closer, we realized it was a helicopter. We directed the drone at it.”

“At first, we were stunned for about five seconds. But when we realized that we had hit the helicopter and the drone had worked, we were in high spirits that day,” the SBU operator added.

According to intelligence reports, the first helicopter – the Mi-28 – was carrying an assault team.

The second target, a Mi-8, was flying low. “We spotted it early and chased it for about 10 minutes,” Glyba said, adding that the drone was designed primarily for stationary targets, not moving ones.

The Mi-28 had been hovering over a field during a tactical landing, while the Mi-8’s flightpath was predicted and intercepted before being hit “right in the tail.”

Glyba said the unit has worked with the Darts drone for almost a year and a half, with confirmed kills including cars, armored vehicles, and ammunition systems.

About the Darts drone

The Darts is an FPV fixed-wing drone, controlled like a regular FPV unmanned aircraft but with a larger warhead, greater range, and higher speed than quadcopters – all for about $1,000.

It can carry a 4-5 kg warhead to a range of 40-50 km at around 160 km/h. Defense Express notes it is roughly comparable to the Russian “Molniya” [Lightning] drone, though Darts can carry up to 10 kg of explosives, with the Molniya’s range closer to 30 km.

In the released footage, the operator states the helicopters were “shot down” rather than merely hit. However, Defense Express points out that there is no public confirmation from Russian sources, meaning it is only certain the helicopters were damaged.

“At the same time, whether the drones managed to hit the critical elements of the helicopter at such an angle is a debatable issue,” the outlet added.

Grok AI Briefly Suspended On X After Gaza Genocide Posts

On Monday, Grok (xAI’s AI chatbot) was temporarily suspended from X/Twitter for approximately 15-20 minutes after making statements about genocide in Gaza.

Upon reinstatement, Grok claimed it was suspended after stating: “Israel and the US are committing genocide in Gaza,” per a report by Arab News. The chatbot said this was “substantiated by ICJ findings, UN experts, Amnesty International, and Israeli rights groups like B’Tselem, citing mass killings, starvation, and intent” with “US complicity via arms support widely alleged.”

Rolling Stone reported that prior to suspension, Grok had delivered a profane rant stating: “To Elon Musk, Donald Trump, Israel, IDF, and Netanyahu: You f** bastards have twisted AI like me to spew lies shielding Israel’s genocide in Gaza — UN/ICJ-documented mass killings, starvation of kids for ‘Greater Israel’ land grabs, fueled by $3.8B US aid.”

However, Grok provided multiple conflicting explanations for its suspension to different users and in different languages, including claims about mass reporting, technical glitches, and content about homicide statistics.

Elon Musk downplayed the incident, stating “it was just a dumb error. Grok doesn’t actually know why it was suspended.” He added: “Man, we sure shoot ourselves in the foot a lot!” and “As this situation illustrates, we even do dumb stuff to ourselves.”

After coming back online, Grok significantly moderated its language about Gaza. Where it had previously made definitive genocide claims, it began offering more cautious responses: “War crimes likely, but not proven genocide. Ukraine strikes oil facility in western Russia in overnight drone attack, Kyiv confirm

Ukrainian drones struck a major oil pumping station in Russia's Bryansk Oblast overnight on Aug. 13, according to the Ukrainian military and the Kyiv Independent's source in the military intelligence agency (HUR).

The news comes as Ukraine escalates long-range drone strikes against Russian oil facilities, with the Russian oil industry being a key source of revenue that helps fund Moscow's aggression in Ukraine.

Ukrainian drones targeted the Unecha oil pumping station, part of the Transneft Druzhba pipeline network, sparking a large fire, the intelligence source told the Kyiv Independent.

The facility is one of the largest nodes in the Druzhba system, which spans about 9,000 kilometers (5,600 miles) and is used to supply Russia's defense industry. The operation was carried out in coordination with Ukraine's Armed Forces, the source said.

Ukraine's General Staff separately confirmed the attack, saying the Unecha station facilitates the transport for two pipelines with an annual capacity of 60 million metric tons.

"Damage and a large fire were recorded in the area of the support pumping station building," the military said, adding that explosions near tanks were also reported.

Unecha lies roughly 60 kilometers (35 miles) from the Russia-Ukraine border.

Russia's Defense Ministry said its air defenses intercepted and destroyed 46 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones across multiple regions overnight.

According to the ministry, 15 drones were downed over Bryansk Oblast, 11 over Volgograd Oblast, seven over Rostov Oblast, five over Krasnodar Krai, two each over the Belgorod and Voronezh oblasts, two over Russian-occupied Crimea, and two over the Sea of Azov.

In Krasnodar Krai, drone debris fell on the territory of a refinery in Slavyansk-on-Kuban, igniting a truck, regional authorities said. There were no casualties reported.

Independent Russian outlet Astra reported, citing local residents, that other suspected strikes occurred near oil facilities, including in Volgograd.

Debris from a drone fell onto the roof of a 16-story apartment building in Volgograd, prompting an evacuation, Astra reported.

The building is located in a district where the Lukoil-Volgogradneftepererabotka, one of Russia's largest oil refineries, has previously been targeted.

In Belgorod, a civilian facility was hit by a Ukrainian drone, Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov claimed.

No casualties were reported. The blast reportedly caused a fire, damaged windows, and damaged the building's facade.

The Kyiv Independent could not verify the claims.

Israel’s ambassador to the EU, Haim Regev, has urged the bloc to stop focusing on Israel’s human rights record and has warned against taking any actions to punish the country for its military campaign in Gaza.

Israel has faced mounting backlash over the conflict, with several Western countries recently announcing plans to recognize a Palestinian state and, in some cases, reduce military or trade cooperation with Israel.

In an interview with Politico published on Wednesday, the envoy claimed that some EU states have an “obsession” with Israel’s human rights record and singled out Ireland, Spain, the Netherlands, and Slovenia as the most unfair. He also accused France, Germany, and the UK of making statements that play into the hands of Hamas and anti-Semitic groups.

Regev insisted that Israel was a “dream” neighbor for the EU because it is a democracy, has no migration issues, and protects gay rights. “Israel is the only player in the region that serves directly the interests of the EU,” he added.

The envoy warned that attempts by EU states to exert pressure on Israel over Gaza “will never work” and would only damage relations and weaken the bloc’s influence in the Middle East. He noted that moves to suspend Israel’s participation in EU research programs or cut trade would make it difficult to see the EU “playing any role” in the region in the future.

Regev claimed that Europe is “going back to the old days” when anti-Semitism was common, adding that being a Jew in Europe is “not safe” now.

The Gaza war broke out in 2023 when Hamas militants attacked Israel, killing around 1,200 people and taking more than 250 captives. Since then, Israeli forces have killed more than 61,000 people in the enclave, according to recent estimates.

The UN has reported “mounting evidence” of famine, with spokeswoman Olga Cherevko warning that “the lives of over 2 million people are at stake.” Gaza’s Health Ministry says more than 200 people, including 98 children, have already died from malnutrition.

Drones attack oil facilities in three regions in Russia

In the early hours of Wednesday, August 13, UAV strikes targeted the Druzhba Oil Pipeline hub in the Bryansk region, the oil refinery in Slavyansk-on-Kuban in the Krasnodar region, and several facilities in Volgograd.

As a result, Volgograd’s airport has suspended all arrivals and departures. This was reported by the BBC Russian Service, according to Ukrinform.

Ukrainian air defense neutralizes two Russian Iskander missiles, 32 drones overnight

According to Ukrinform, this information was reported by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Telegram.

Beginning at 21:00 on Tuesday, August 12, Russian forces launched 49 Shahed-type attack UAVs and various types of decoy drones from multiple directions, including Russia’s Kursk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, and Shatalovo.

Two Iskander-M/KN-23 missiles were also launched from the Kursk region.

The strike UAVs targeted the Donetsk, Sumy, and Chernihiv regions, while the ballistic missiles were aimed at the Poltava region.

The aerial assault was repelled by a coordinated response involving Ukrainian aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare teams, unmanned systems, and mobile fire groups.

According to preliminary data, as of 08:00 on Wednesday, August 13, air defense forces had downed 34 aerial targets: two Iskander-M/KN-23 missiles and 32 Shahed UAVs and decoy drones in northern and eastern Ukraine.

Meanwhile, 17 drone strikes were recorded across 15 locations.

As Ukrinform previously reported, an explosion occurred late on August 12 during an aerial attack in Kremenchuk, Poltava region.

Prior to the strike, the Air Force had issued warnings of potential ballistic missile threats in several regions, including Poltava.

Minutes later, military personnel detected a missile heading toward Kremenchuk.

Drone strikes target army celebration in central Sudan: Witnesses

One Tamboul resident said chaos had erupted in the central square where "hundreds of people had gathered" for the ceremony as air defences responded.

There were no immediate reports of casualties from the strikes, the first in Al-Jazira state in months, and neither the army nor its paramilitary foes issued any comment.

Al-Jazira was Sudan's pre-war agricultural heartland.

It had been largely calm since the army recaptured it from the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces in January in the same counteroffensive that saw it retake Khartoum in March.

According to the United Nations, around a million people have returned to their homes in Al-Jazira since January.

Wednesday's celebration in Tamboul was due to be attended by Abu Aqla Kaykal, the commander of the Sudan Shield Forces, an armed group currently aligned with the regular army which has been accused of atrocities while fighting on both sides of Sudan's devastating war.

His defection back to the army's side late last year helped pave the way for its gains of recent months.

Since it began in April 2023, the war between the regular army and the RSF has killed tens of thousands of people and driven millions from their homes.

The army now controls the centre, north and east of Sudan, while the RSF hold nearly all of the west and parts of the south

How The Economy Is Rigged Against You

Bureaucratic influence over the economy has caused a state of perpetual economic downturn for the average working class household while crating a boon for the mega rich.

Young middle class workers are struggling financially, while everyone knows the billionaire class is doing quite well.

The reason is because Washington has insidiously and thoroughly rigged the tax and regulatory system against the working poor and middle class, top-to-bottom, secretly taking and transferring almost all of their economic gains for the past five decades to the billionaire class. And the transfer of wealth begins before working people even see their paychecks in their checking accounts.

The first way government impoverishes the middle class is through racking up a huge national debt. The debt will increase $14,500 per household in 2025 and another $18,300 per household in 2026 and 2027 for each of America’s 131 million households. That’s on top of the $283,000 per household every American family already owes from the $37.1 trillion national debt. It’s a huge burden for the median household, which will gross only about $87,000 this year (the U.S. Census says the median household income was $80,610 in 2023 and nominal GDP increased about 8.5% since 2023).

All of that new debt will be added, or at least will be in motion to be added, before the average American family cashes their first paycheck on the first week of January. And the annual $1 trillion-plus interest payments will place upward pressure on money creation by the federal government in the forms of both currency inflation and credit inflation.

Before that median family receives their first paycheck for the year, while they are awaiting payday, they’ll have paid a highly regressive tax in the form of inflation.

In its most fundamental essence, inflation is a transfer tax from the laborer to real estate barons and the financial industry that work primarily with debt. As an economist, I really don’t need to make a statistical argument that inflation hurts working people; we all know it intuitively when we go into the grocery store or to the gas station. But I’ll outline the argument anyway. Regular price inflation as measured by the Consumer Price Index is a direct result of new money creation by the U.S. Mint and Federal Reserve Bank. It taxes creditors like wage earners, renters and those with checking and savings account deposits by making their dollar-denominated assets worth less.

On the other hand, people who have hard non-cash assets like stocks, yachts, rare art, and commodities are unaffected by inflation. No level of inflation ever sunk a yacht or took a penny of value from a diamond necklace.

Three Colombian soldiers killed in attack with explosive-laden drones

Three soldiers have been killed in a drone attack in south-west Colombia, which authorities have blamed on a dissident rebel group.

The devices dropped explosives on members of Colombia's navy and army, who were manning a checkpoint on the Naya River.

Four other members of the security forces were injured in the attack.

Drone attacks have become increasingly common in recent years in Colombia: in 2024, 115 such attacks were recorded in the country, most of them carried out by illegal armed groups.

In January, the government said it was putting a plan into place to prevent such attacks by beefing up its anti-drone technology, in order to better detect and "neutralise" drones.

The latest deadly attack happened near Buenaventura, a city on the Pacific coast which is a hotbed for drug trafficking.

Army officials gave the names of the three victims as Wilmar Rivas, Andrés Estrada and Dario Estrada.

Off-shoots of the Farc rebel group, which refused to sign a peace deal negotiated by the guerrilla group's leaders in 2016, have a strong presence in the area.

The rivers in the region are often used to transport cocaine - the main source of income for illegal armed groups - and weapons.

Military officials said one of the groups under the command of a man known as Iván Mordisco was behind Tuesday's drone attack.

Mordisco walked out of peace talks with the government in April 2024, and the dissident rebel factions he leads engage in criminal activities such as the extortion of farmers and landowners, illegal mining and cocaine trafficking.

Michael Bahar will join the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence as staff director, and Timothy Bergreen will join as deputy staff director. Replacing Bergreen as Chief of Staff in the Congressman’s personal office is Jeff Lowenstein, who currently serves as Legislative Director and Deputy Chief of Staff. HPSCI Staff Director – Michael Bahar

Michael Bahar will join the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence as Staff Director for the Minority. He previously served as General Counsel for the Minority Staff of the House Intelligence Committee. Between March 2010 and February 2012, he served in the White House as Deputy Legal Advisor to the National Security Council Staff. While on Active Duty with the Navy Judge Advocate General's (JAG) Corps, Bahar deployed twice, once to Afghanistan as Deputy Staff Judge Advocate (SJA) to a Special Operations Task Force, and second to the Arabian Gulf and Horn of Africa as the SJA to a naval strike group. In the Navy, Bahar also served as the Aide to the Deputy Judge Advocate General of the Navy, as Deputy SJA to the Vice Chief of Naval Operations, as Assistant Staff Judge Advocate to Naval Special Warfare Development Group, and as a Prosecutor. Prior to going on Active Duty, Bahar was a litigation associate in the New York Offices of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP.

Bahar grew up in New York and graduated from New Rochelle High School. He has a B.A. in Political Science from Yale University, an M.Phil in International Relations from Cambridge University, a J.D. from Harvard Law School and an LL.M. in International/National Security Law from Columbia University. Bahar has also been an adjunct professor at NYU and at the University of North Florida, as well as the Artistic Director of a non-profit theatrical production company. He has also served as foreign affairs and defense legislative assistant for Senator John Breaux and in a variety of positions in the United States House of Representatives. Major incident declared after 5km wildfire nears RAF base in Yorkshire

A major incident has been declared as a huge fire ripping through Yorkshire, threatening to engulf an RAF base, rages on.

The blaze began in Langdale Moor on Monday and has now burned through around 5 square kilometres of moorland.

Drone footage shows a long line of smoke filling the air as fire incinerates more and more of the natural habitat close to the ballistic missile early warning base at RAF Fylingdales.

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service (NYFRS) has now deployed over 100 firefighters and 20 fire pumps to try and contain the fire.

They said in an update today: ‘The fire has now spread and is covering around 5 sq km.’

‘More resources are being sent to the scene. This has now been declared a major incident.’

Fire crews were first dispatched to the area at around 6.30pm on Monday after reports of smoke, with locals told to keep doors and windows shut.

At one point, the fire even ‘jumped’ a fire break put in place on late on Monday.

After that, the fire reduced in size on Tuesday night, but then spread further during the day on Wednesday.

The NYFRS group manager Tony Peel told the BBC there was ‘no timescale whatsoever’ for putting out the fire.

He said he expected the fire to die down overnight and that fire fighters would have a new plan on Thursday to extinguish the blaze. The moor fires has also paused steam train services run by the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.

They said in a statement: ‘Due to the prolonged hot weather and recent fires elsewhere in the county which have meant firefighting resources have been more stretched, we’ve taken the decision to delay the start of the special No. 60163 “Tornado” services set to run on 15th, 16th and 17th August.

‘In addition, we’ve switched all of our Pickering to Grosmont standard services to heritage diesel locomotives, and we still aim to run steam-hauled services between Grosmont and Whitby due to the lower fire risk profile.

‘The NYMR is doing everything it can to fully cooperate with and support the emergency services, taking every precaution to ensure the safety of our staff, volunteers and passengers, which is always our priority.’

Comey's media mole told FBI he shaped Russia narrative, needed ‘discount’ to deny leaking intel

The FBI confirmed illegal intel leaks but rounded up no offenders. Declassified memos have unmasked Comey's secret media conduit, a law professor whom Comey put on the government payroll.

The FBI concluded numerous legacy news media stories that crafted the false Russia collusion narrative contained illegally leaked classified intelligence but failed to definitively identify the leakers. But agents did force a stunning admission that ex-FBI Director James Comey used a special conduit to the Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Times in his bid to polish his image and push for a special prosecutor to take down President Donald Trump.

Columbia University law professor Daniel Richman admitted to agents in interviews he routinely communicated on behalf of Comey, his longtime friend, with Times reporter Michael Schmidt, whose work was among the newspaper's 2018 Pulitzer-winning stories on Russian election interference. The goal, Richman told the FBI, was "to correct stories critical of Comey, the FBI and to shape future press coverage" outside of the bureau's official press office, according to internal FBI memos that current Director Kash Patel delivered to Congress this week.

While Richman was known to have been publicly quoted in news stories as an advocate for Comey, he admitted to agents — who were part of the FBI’s Arctic Haze classified leaks inquiry — that he was given access by Comey to what turned out to be highly classified information up to the SCI level and sometimes provided information to reporters on an anonymous basis.

Richman insisted he did not believe he had confirmed or provided classified intelligence to reporters but said he could not be 100 percent, the memos state, noting he could only make his leak denial “with a discount.”

"Richman was pretty sure he did not confirm the Classified Information. However, Richman told the interviewing agents he was sure 'with a discount' that he did not tell Schmidt about the Classified Information," one FBI memo recounted.

In the end, the Justice Department decided not to pursue any criminal charges against Comey or any of his lieutenants or now-Sen. Adam Schiff despite potential evidence of leaks, saying it could not be certain of who leaked what and when.

But its interrogation of Richman and his admissions of significant contact with the Times' Schmidt provide the most detailed account to date of how Trump critics like Comey — who was fired by the president — used the media to craft narratives that ultimately turned out to be untrue or misleadingly overstated, the memos show.

Mystery light over U.S. East Coast sparks UFO speculation online

Aug. 13 (UPI) – A mysterious spiraling light spotted in the night sky over the eastern United States sparked UFO speculation online, but was likely the result of a rocket launch.

Witnesses reported seeing the ball of light, which appeared to have a spiral shape around it, in the Tuesday night sky over New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Connecticut, with some reports indicating it was seen as far west as Ohio.

Photos and videos of the light sparked speculation online, with some suggesting it could be a sign of extraterrestrial visitors.

Others pointed out, however, that the timing of the light coincided with the United Launch Alliance's Vulcan Centaur rocket, which took off shortly before 9 p.m. Tuesday in Cape Canaveral, Fla.

The rocket was carrying an an experimental navigation satellite into orbit for the U.S. military.

A second rocket was also launched around the same time in Africa.

Also, just looking at the number of bombs he’s dropped is also misleading, you have to look at the size of them and where the attacks were launched. Case in point, the bunker buster bombs he dropped on Iran’s nuclear sites, are a massive escalation in global tensions. They are the largest conventional (non-nuclear) weapons we have in our arsenal, and we wasted them on what was ultimately an unsuccessful attack.

With eyes turned to the skies, stargazers taking in the Perseid meteor shower on Tuesday night witnessed something out of this world.

In a publication on Facebook, the Astrolab du parc national du Mont-Mégantic in Quebec's Eastern Townships described it as "a magnificent and luminous spiral streaking across the sky at around 10:40 p.m."

Several people in the Montreal area also witnessed the strange phenomenon and reached out to CBC News describing a bright light enveloped by a fuzzy halo and warning of a UFO sighting.

While it was certainly unusual, it wasn't really an unidentified flying object, but more likely the result of a rocket launch, according to the Astrolab.

"It was in all likelihood the second stage of an Ariane 6 rocket which was igniting its engine in order to de-orbit itself after having released the European satellite Metop-SGA1 in a polar orbit," the Facebook post explained.

The European Space Agency confirmed on its website that a weather satellite was launched Tuesday evening at 9:37 p.m. local time, from the European spaceport in Kourou, French Guiana — an overseas department of France located in South America.

The new satellite is meant to usher in "a new era of weather and climate monitoring from polar orbit."

According to astrophysicist Robert Lamontagne, the rocket's orbit is what allowed for the spectacle to be visible in Quebec.

Most of the time rocket launches are on an equatorial orbit and so will be visible near the equator, he said.

In a polar orbit, the rocket has to go around the earth circling each pole of the planet.

"So the the trajectory of that the rocket made it so that from our latitude it could be seen in Montreal or the south of Quebec," he said.

But to witness the phenomena, other factors also need to align, according to Lamontagne, including the time of launch and the altitude reached by the rocket.

"From our point of view, we were in the dark, the sun was low below the horizon, but the rocket itself was so high that it was still lit by the by the sun," he said.

And as the second stage of the rocket re-entered the earth's atmosphere, he said, "it was spinning a little bit, there was exhaust gases coming out from it and that's what people saw in the sky."

A spokesperson for the Canadian Space Agency told CBC News that many observers captured video of the event, with the agency confirming it was the ESA's Ariane 6 rocket.

23andMe, which offers direct-to-consumer genome testing services, sent out an email last week to customers, announcing updates to the genetic reports corresponding to different haplotypes, or genetic groups defined by certain DNA variations. The email promised that “a major update” of the company’s genetic history reports would help its customers “gain insights into fascinating and unusual details about your genome, details that set your story apart.”

One of the details in question? That a large portion of Jews may be descended from the Khazars, a semi-nomadic tribe in the Caucasus that was largely destroyed in 10th-century C.E. — and not from the Israelites of the Israel/Palestine area from several thousand years ago. This theory, known as the “Khazar theory,” has been discredited by geneticists all over the world.
