Peter Thiel’s Latest $2 Billion Investment, An “Agritech Unicorn” – Or Something Else?

Peter Thiel is well known for his PayPal startup and later Palantir tech investment. Most people now have a better understanding of exactly what Palantir software and AI interface are capable of. Palantir AI is now established as a core military system, and the suite of associated products have both military and commercial applications.

At its core, the Palantir product line is about interfacing AI with surveillance software; behavior stuff that permits surveillance and targeting systems through massive database cross referencing and actionable targeting. I’ll leave the rest of the explaining to those in the comments section who have followed the developing technology.

For his latest endeavor, Peter Thiel has now invested $2 billion in a New Zealand (think five-eyes) based company that assists cattle ranchers with their herds. “New Zealand-based Halter has secured funding at a $2 billion valuation from Peter Thiel’s Founders Fund, marking one of the highest-profile venture investments in agricultural AI to date. Stay with me, this might start to sound odd.

Here’s the explanation of Halter, as it directly relates to the cattle and cow industry:

“Peter Thiel just bet $2 billion on a collar that wraps around a cow’s neck. The company is called Halter and it has a proprietary algorithm that runs the entire operation. They actually trademarked the name for it and called it the Cowgorithm and here’s how it works.

A farmer opens an app, taps a button, and 600,000 cows across three countries start walking toward the milking station on their own. No farm dogs, fences or physical labor, it’s just a solar-powered GPS collar sending sound and vibration cues to each animal.”

“The collar does more than move cows around. It monitors digestion, fertility cycles, and health patterns in real time, 24 hours a day, using machine learning trained on the behavior of hundreds of thousands of animals.

Halter was founded by a rocket engineer who built spacecraft at Rocket Lab before deciding that farming was the bigger unsolved problem. US ranchers alone have already used the technology to build over 11,000 miles of virtual fencing, roughly the full perimeter of the continental United States, saving an estimated $220 million in physical fencing costs.

Halter’s previous funding round valued the company at $1 billion. This new round, led by Thiel’s Founders Fund, doubles that valuation to $2 billion before the new money even hits the account. And they charge farmers between $5 and $8 per animal per month on a subscription model, meaning the more cows they collar, the more locked-in the revenue becomes.

Geolocation, predictive analysis, consumer patterns, behavior patterns, targeting, and the streamlined assembly of mass surveillance systems such as Palantir facial recognition software connected to identity tracking and tracing.

Why would Peter Thiel be shifting to animal behavioral sciences. Yes, there is a strong marketable product that could ultimately make cattle ranching and cow farming much more efficient and productive.

However, overlay the Halter system on cows with the Palantir system on people. Replace the cow with a human.

Iranian armed forces and resistance groups across the region continue to carry out retaliatory military operations against the United States and the Israeli regime.

On Sunday, March 22, 2026, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) and the Iranian Army conducted multiple operations as part of Operation True Promise 4, which was launched immediately after the US-Israeli coalition carried out an unprovoked act of aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran on February 28.

Iranian armed forces have so far carried out 74 waves of missile and drone strikes with advanced weaponry targeting Israeli military facilities in the occupied territories, as well as US occupation bases and assets scattered across the West Asia region.

The Lebanese Hezbollah resistance movement and the Islamic Resistance in Iraq have also joined the front against the external aggressors, inflicting heavy blows on the enemy.

Hezbollah’s operations have been primarily focused on Israeli military sites in the occupied territories. Its operations are both in response to the assassination of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, and the relentless ceasefire violations by the Israeli regime over the past year.

Iraqi resistance groups have also been carrying out daily operations, primarily against American military assets in Iraq and other Arab countries.

Below is a list of operations carried out by the Iranian armed forces, as well as resistance movements in Lebanon and Iraq, against the US and the Zionist regime on March 22:

Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC):

Wave 73 of Operation True Promise 4, under the code "Ya Heydar, peace be upon him," and in honor of air defense martyrs, the south and north of the occupied Palestinian territories were firmly and decisively targeted by missiles and drones.

Military installations and centers in "Arad," "Dimona," "Eilat," "Beersheba," and "Kiryat Gat" in the south of the occupied Palestinian territories—following the collapse of the defense system of the usurping Zionist army—as well as the Al-Salem, Mnahad, and Al-Dhafra bases of the US military in the region, were precisely struck by Fattah, Qadr, and Emad missile systems and destructive drones.

Wave 74 of Operation True Promise 4, with the sacred code "Ya Amir al-Mu'minin (peace be upon him)", dedicated to the martyrs of the Fath al-Moubin operation during the Holy Defense war in the 1980s, was executed against US military bases in the region and parts of the occupied Palestinian territories.

In this wave, the US "Malek Sultan" base, the US Fifth Fleet, and the hideout of Komala terrorists were targeted by Emad, Fateh, and Qiam missiles and attack drones.

Commander of the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, Iran’s highest operational command, Major General Ali Abdollahi says the Islamic Republic’s military doctrine has shifted from a defensive posture to an offensive one, as the armed forces introduce more advanced weaponry and new tactics in their relentless reprisal attacks targeting the US and Israeli interests.

Juice officially began its 3I/ATLAS observations on 2 November 2025, continuing through to 25 November. The closest approach was on 4 November at about 0.4 AU (roughly 60 million km).

This ideal distance paired well with Juice’s payload. As a mission designed and equipped to study Jupiter’s icy moons, Juice’s scientific instruments were a match made in heaven for the icy interstellar body.

Specifically, the spacecraft used five of its instruments – JANUS, MAJIS, UVS, SWI, and PEP – to take measurements of 3I/ATLAS.

Thermal constraints limited these observations to six 45-minute slots and one final 4-hour slot. Together, these generated 126 science files with a total of 11.18 Gbits of data.

But the team would have to wait to see the results.

With Juice still flying in its hot configuration after the observation campaign, the spacecraft could not yet turn back to Earth to transmit the data. Instead, all observations were stored onboard the mass memory (SSMM).

Only after the spacecraft entered cold-cruise phase in mid-January 2026 would the high bit rate downlink be possible.

Data at last

At last, the long-awaited data downlink took place in two 11-hour passes on 17 and 20 February 2026 via ESTRACK’s New Norcia and Malargüe deep space antennas respectively.

The first pass ran smoothly through the night and into the early hours of the next day.

The second and final pass took place early on 20 February. Upon acquisition of signal and nominal telemetry readings, the transfer began. As the 16‑minute signal delay ended, the navigation camera images finally reached the control room, triggering instant smiles.

The rest of the 11-hour downlink ran as expected. By 19:21 CET the 3I/ATLAS observation campaign officially ended. But it left a lasting impact on the mission team.

We came. We saw. Now, we venture on.

“That’s the nice thing in our job – it is always a team effort of many parties involved. I think, the fact that we could optimise this campaign in little time and maximise the output is something to be proud of!” says a beaming Angela.

“At Jupiter, we will perform flybys of the icy moons at a high cadence, sometimes only a couple of weeks apart. The 3I/ATLAS campaign has made me even more confident that Juice can quickly achieve scientific objectives with short warning times, and that complex operations can be planned and executed within very limited timeframes,” says a happy Federico Giannetto, Juice Spacecraft Operations Engineer.

The science teams are now pouring over the data to see what it will reveal about the interstellar object. They will meet this week to discuss the findings.

With preparations already underway for Juice’s upcoming Earth flyby in September, Angela reflects on the significance of this interstellar achievement.

“Someone from mission analysis said to me: in the future, we will remember Juice for the double lunar-Earth flyby and 3I/ATLAS. Nobody’s ever done a lunar-Earth flyby or been so close to an interstellar object’s perihelion. These are very rare and remarkable things!”

The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has issued a stern warning to the United States, emphasizing that any threat to Iran would be met with a proportional and deterring response.

In a statement on Monday, the IRGC addressed recent claims by US President Donald Trump, who had alleged that the Corps intended to target regional desalination plants and disrupt services to local populations.

"First, it is the aggressive and inhumane American army that started this war by killing children, sacrificing 180 elementary school children, and has so far targeted five water infrastructure sites, including the Qeshm Island desalination plant," the statement read.

The Corps again referenced Trump's accusations against it of intending to challenge provision of essential services to regional nations, saying the Islamic Republic's reprisal would be targeting power plants serving US bases as well as economic, industrial, and energy sites linked to American interests.

Military Action Against Iran Bring People Together Around Its Leadership - Kremlin

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Military actions against Iran have led to greater unity of the Iranian people around the country's leadership, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

On Relations With Europe

The issue of paying bills for gas, gasoline, and electricity has eclipsed Ukraine as the primary focus for European states, Peskov said.

"They [Europeans] now have their number one priority not Ukraine, but how to settle bills for gas, gasoline, and electricity," Peskov told Russian journalist Pavel Zarubin.

Europe is facing a difficult situation yet refuses dialogue with Russia, preferring to prolong the Ukraine conflict without means to fund it, Peskov said.

"Europe is torn apart by contradictions. Europe is in a difficult situation. Europe still does not want to talk to us. Europe still wants the continuation of the war in Ukraine and does not know how to pay for it," Peskov told Russian journalist Pavel Zarubin in the interview out on Sunday.

JAKARTA (Sputnik) - The world risks facing the most serious energy crisis in decades amid the conflict in the Middle East, with the market losing 11 million barrels of oil per day, the head of the International Energy Agency (IEA), Fatih Birol, said on Monday.

"Many of us remember the two consecutive oil crises in the 1970s … And at that time in each of the crises the world has lost about 5 million barrels per day. Both of them together 10 million barrels per day … And today, only as of today, we lost 11 million barrels per day, so more than two major oil shocks put together," Birol said at the National Press Club of Australia.

The IEA chief said the situation is very serious and noted that the agency is consulting with governments in Asia and Europe on the possibility of releasing additional oil from strategic reserves.

On March 11, IEA member countries agreed to release a record 400 million barrels of oil from strategic reserves to curb price increases.

Birol said that the decision on new interventions would be based on market conditions and is not tied to a specific price level. He said that a key factor in stabilizing the situation is ensuring the uninterrupted traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, through which a significant portion of the world's oil supplies passes.

According to the IEA’s forecast, global oil demand in 2026 will reach 104.77 million barrels per day, while OPEC expects consumption to reach 106.53 million barrels per day.
