Tiny Slovenia has become the first European Union member state to completely halt arms trade with Israel over its ongoing military operations in Gaza.
The decision was announced by Prime Minister Robert Golob following a government meeting on Thursday, and it features a ban on the transit of weapons to and from Israel. "The government of Slovenia is the first in the EU to prohibit the import, export, and transit of military equipment involving Israel," an official statement in state news agency STA indicated.

Alice Weidel, co-leader of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, says Germany is digging its own grave. Her words came during an interview Weidel gave to Hungary’s Patriot Extra program, covered by Mandiner.
According to the nationalist politician, the European Union has “completely degenerated,” does not represent nation states or sovereign peoples, and has now become a machine run by overpaid bureaucrats that only causes harm.
Weidel says Germany’s economic decline is rooted in domestic decisions. High energy prices, the green transition, and the phase-out of nuclear power have made German industry uncompetitive, especially the automotive industry, which she says is being deliberately destroyed by Brussels regulations.
“All the bad rules were made in Brussels,” she said, emphasizing that the ban on internal combustion engines and environmental sanctions benefit China and American companies, not European workers. According to Weidel, Germany and Europe need a free market where everyone can produce and buy what they want.

A suspected errant Russian drone has breached a NATO country's airspace this week - though certainly not for the first time, and is setting off the proverbial alarm within Lithuania's military
The drone was discovered crashed at a Lithuanian military training area after entering the country’s airspace from Belarus, after first being spotted early Monday morning, Lithuania’s army reported on Friday. The military first tracked in on radar over Belarusian airspace, near the border.
Several area residents actually captured footage of it flying over Vilnius before it vanished, and later was found on the ground at the military training base.
"It’s likely the same drone that breached our airspace on Monday. Initial analysis suggests it may be a Gerbera model, though this is still being confirmed," the Lithuanian military said in the statement.
At least one Lithuanian lawmaker has portrayed the drone breach incident as intentional, also given it ended up at a military site.
"This looks like a provocation," said Mindaugas Sinkevičius, interim leader of Lithuania's ruling Social Democratic Party, while describing that the sensitive area where it was found leads to the conclusion that the breach was on purpose or a test of sorts. Continue…

Japan Creates Frankenstein Bird Flu Virus With New Immunological Traits

According to a new study published last week in NPJ Vaccines, Japanese researchers engineered an entirely new strain of bird flu, combining the genetic material of two separate wild viruses to create what they call Vac-3: a pathogen that is “a reassortant virus between A/duck/Hokkaido/101/2004 (H5N3) and A/duck/Hokkaido/262/2004 (H6N1).”
This lab-built virus—A/duck/Hokkaido/Vac-3/2007 (H5N1)—was never observed in nature.
It was artificially assembled, grown in eggs, concentrated, and inactivated with formalin to become the whole-particle vaccine used in long-term testing on nonhuman primates.
The new study comes after NIH-funded researchers at the University of Georgia, Mount Sinai, and Texas Biomed were caught engineering lab-made H5N1 bird flu viruses—one of which killed 100% of exposed mammals—using synthetic DNA constructs and then deliberately infecting live dairy cows, all under the same $59 million federal contract that has also been tied to mammal-adapted, drug-resistant strain development.
Japan is also working with U.S. scientists on other projects to build lab-made horse-human influenza hybrids that replicate 100 times faster than natural strains using aborted fetal cells engineered with the cancer-linked SV40 virus, also under the banner of vaccine development.
All of these developments raise fears that another man-made pandemic is on the horizon, as Congress, the White House, the Department of Energy, the FBI, and the CIA have acknowledged that a lab-related incident involving gain-of-function research is most likely the origin of COVID-19. Continue…

Ukraine should extend full legal protections to gay people, including same-sex marriage, as part of its bid for EU membership, Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson has said.
Ukraine was granted EU candidate status in 2022 shortly after the escalation of the conflict with Russia. While Brussels has floated 2030 as a possible accession date, all current member states must approve the move.
“There’s a living expression of the libertarian values that Ukraine is fighting for,” Kristersson wrote in a post on Friday, after meeting with LGBTQ Ukrainian veterans and Sweden’s rights group RFSL in Stockholm. He noted that same-sex couples in Ukraine “cannot enter into marriage or a registered partnership” and said Sweden would “closely monitor” the matter during the EU accession process.
The message comes as Ukraine faces growing pressure from Brussels to adopt EU standards, including legal protections for LGBT citizens. Critics, however, say both countries have yet to guarantee full equality. US Representative Tim Burchett has formally requested that billionaire financier George Soros and his associate Leonard Benardo, senior vice president at the Open Society Foundations (OSF), testify before Congress regarding their alleged involvement in the 2016 “Russiagate” affair targeting Donald Trump.
In a letter sent Friday to House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Kentucky), Rep. Burchett (R-Tennessee) urged the panel to call Soros and Benardo to a public hearing and to subpoena them if they refuse to appear voluntarily.
The request follows the declassification of documents by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard and the Senate Judiciary Committee, which reportedly link Soros’s OSF to a broader effort to discredit Trump’s presidential campaign and derail his first term in office.

Tariffs on Canadian steel and aluminum are currently 50%.

Boiled water advisories up 32% on reserves, minister says

There are currently 37 active, long-term drinking water advisories affecting 35 First Nations, up from 28 in 2024.
Indigenous Services Canada reports a 32% rise in long-term boil water advisories on First Nations from last year, according to Blacklock’s. This increase occurs over four years after cabinet pledged $3.6 billion to end all advisories, with many First Nations still lacking safe tap water.
On June 23, 37 active long-term drinking water advisories affected 35 First Nations, up from 28 in 2024, according to a departmental report to the Senate national finance committee.
The department attributed the unexplained increase to First Nations leadership, stating they are "the decision makers" regarding their water and wastewater infrastructure.
“Some advisories remain in effect even when an infrastructure project has been completed if a community does not have a trained water system operator to safely operate and maintain the system,” the report stated. Continue…

The Ontario Court of Appeal has just ruled that the appeal attempt of Rocco Galati, a prominent lawyer known for challenging COVID-19 mandates, will not proceed under anti-SLAPP provisions.
Galati, who spearheaded high-profile lawsuits like the Vaccine Choice Canada (VCC) and Action4Canada (A4C) actions, sued the Canadian Society for the Advancement of Science and Public Policy (CSASPP), its officers, and donor Donna Toews for defamation, conspiracy, and harassment.
He alleged that their crime was publicly questioning his legal tactics and the transparency of funds raised for his COVID-related lawsuits. The court wasn’t having it, and Galati’s claim was dismissed as an attempt to silence critics.

An Indigenous father of five was banished from his home, community, and children for five years without warning or a hearing. He is fighting back.
Terry Wayne Francois, supported by the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms (JCCF), has initiated a constitutional challenge in Federal Court. This legal action targets the banishment and checkpoint laws enacted by the Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation (NCN).
As part of the challenge, Francois is also seeking an injunction to allow him to return home while the case is ongoing.
Francois, a member of the (NCN) in Nelson House, Manitoba, believes the band’s decision to arbitrarily exile him from his community and five children, without warning, was unconstitutional.
In December 2024, Francois, a frequent traveler through the Nations checkstop, refused a search dog in his vehicle during a food delivery. After driving home, NCN officers accused him of assault with a weapon and other charges for leaving the checkstop.
On New Year’s Eve, the RCMP arrested the NCN member, and removed him from his home.
In May 2025, Francois pleaded guilty to two counts of resisting a peace officer, paid $600 in fines, and was subsequently banished from NCN territory until at least December 30, 2029, without further hearing.
“I was totally shocked. I felt crushed,” Francois said. “I’ve worked all my life and raised five girls on my own. I didn’t think this could happen.”
JCCF lawyer Marty Moore who is representing him says the decision is unconstitutional and unjust. “Banishing people from their homes and communities for years is a grievous punishment.”
“Imposing this punishment without any notice or an opportunity to be heard is an egregious violation of basic principles of justice,” Moore stated in the organization’s press release.
Francois and Moore joined Rebel News to discuss his case, bringing forth significant concerns regarding transparency, accountability, and due process within First Nations governance.

Fierté Montréal, the group that organizes Montreal's Pride Parade, has banned the Jewish LGBTQ+ group Ga'ava and the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA) from participating. Fierté Montréal's statement said that they "made the decision to deny participation in the Pride Parade to organizations spreading hateful discourse."
Fierté Montréal reasoned that they "express their support for oppressed peoples, particularly the Palestinian people, and their opposition to genocide." Fierté Montréal has been running the Pride Parade in Montreal since 2007.
In the 2024 Pride Parade, activists supporting the Palestinian cause carried the flags representing the Palestinian people and chanted "free Palestine." These activists shut down the parade for an hour. The pro-Palestinian LGBTQ groups urged Fierté Montréal to take a pro-Palestinian position. They also targeted Fierté Montréal's corporate sponsors, National Post reported.
In a translated Instagram post, the group said, "We refuse to allow the spaces of the Fierté Montréal to be instrumentalized in the context of a conflict that involves major violations of fundamental human rights." They further expressed "solidarity with the Palestinian people” and demanded "an immediate and lasting peace in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict."
Carlos Godoy of Ga'ava said the prohibition was "a very hateful decision" that told "Jews that they can't walk together in the Montreal Pride Parade." Godoy reached out to both the Quebec government and sponsor TD Bank to condemn the exclusion.
The decision to ban the Jewish groups from Pride also faced backlash from pro-Palestinian activists who said that the anti-Israel stance was not genuine.
Lawyer Samya Amrani, who is part of a breakaway group called Wild Pride Montreal, said, "Please don’t be fooled friends — it’s a reaction to an internal crisis because they were going to lose all their employees and because artists and groups are withdrawing one by one. They don’t care about us, they never did. They just have no other choice."

The City of Hamilton has spent $18.3 million responding to a cybersecurity attack that took place last year, which the city is now facing in full after its insurance provider has denied its claim.
The city filed a cyber insurance claim. However, its insurance provider denied the claim citing policy exclusions, as multi-factor authentication had not been fully implemented by the city at the time of the incident, the city’s Cybersecurity Incident Summary report says. The policy did not provide coverage for any losses as a result of not having multi-factor authentication in place.
“I understand why Hamiltonians are frustrated - this was a serious and costly breach,” Hamilton Mayor Andrea Horwath said in a July 30 statement. “We expect our public systems to be strong, secure, and dependable. This incident highlights that the city fell short of that standard - and we’re not okay with that.”
The cybersecurity incident took place on Feb. 25, 2024, in which cybercriminals gained access to and disabled approximately 80 percent of the city’s IT systems. A variety of city services were impacted by the incident, such as business license processing, fire department, public library, property taxes, and transit scheduling systems.
While the city says it has recovered or rebuilt most of its compromised systems, it’s still working to replace a number of systems that were “unrecoverable.”
“The cybercriminals launched a complex ransomware attack through an external internet-facing server,” the city of Hamilton said in a July 30 news release. Continue…

Palestine Fails the Test of Statehood

There are four conditions for statehood; Palestine arguably meets one of them.
The most widely accepted definition of a sovereign nation is found in the Montevideo Convention on the Rights and Duties of States, which was adopted at the Seventh International Conference of American States in Montevideo, Uruguay, in 1933. The Montevideo Convention lays out the criteria for statehood, including a defined territory, a permanent population, a government, and the capacity to enter into relations with other states. These criteria are widely accepted as the basic requirements for statehood in international law.
1) Defined Territory: The entity seeking statehood must have a clearly defined territory over which it exercises sovereignty. Palestine does not meet this criterion. The original mandate granted it the West Bank, the Gaza Strip, and East Jerusalem. However, these territories are not contiguous, and the Palestinians are demanding more territory, including the whole of Jerusalem. Hamas, moreover, wants all of Israel. Thus, there is no clearly defined territory for Palestine, and even the Palestinians have not agreed on what their territory should be.
2) Permanent Population: The entity must have a permanent population residing within its defined territory. This is the only criterion that Palestine more or less meets, as Gaza and the West Bank do have a permanent population. However, the phrase "within its defined territory" suggests that the territory of Palestine would need to be clearly established first before it can be said to have a permanent population within that territory.
3) Government: The entity must have a functioning government capable of exercising control and authority over its territory and population. Palestine fails this test. Power in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank is divided among three entities: the Palestinian Authority, the terrorist organization Hamas, and the state of Israel. Generally, the Palestinian Authority exerts control over the West Bank, Hamas over Gaza, and Israel over both. Therefore, it cannot be said that Palestine has a functioning government.
4) Capacity to Enter into Relations with Other States: The entity must possess the capacity to enter into relations with other states, indicating its independence and sovereignty. Palestine does not have the authority to enter into international agreements or treaties. The Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), previously designated as a terrorist organization, represents Palestine at international bodies but does not hold memberships or voting rights in those bodies. For example, the PLO has permanent observer status at the UN.
These criteria are widely recognized as the fundamental requirements for statehood in international law. Most countries and international organizations adhere to the principles laid out in the convention. Additionally, the criteria specified in the convention are commonly used by governments, legal scholars, and international bodies to determine the statehood of entities seeking recognition as sovereign states. Therefore, the definition provided by the Montevideo Convention is broadly accepted by the international community.
UN members recently voted to recognize Palestine. According to the UN Charter, "States are admitted to membership in the United Nations by a decision of the General Assembly upon the recommendation of the Security Council." However, as a member of the Security Council, the US exercised its veto power, preventing Palestine's admission.

A B.C. search and rescue organization has found a hiker in his late seventies who went missing for four days.
Prince George Search and Rescue (PGSAR) said the man had been hiking the Great Divide Trail over a two-week period.
The trail, about 1,100 kilometres long, is located in the Rocky Mountains along the continental divide between Alberta and B.C., according to the Great Divide Trail Association. The organization calls it one of the most challenging long-distance trails in the world.
The hiking adventure of the man and his partner involved “significant route finding and bushwacking,” PGSAR said in a July 29 post on Facebook.
The man became separated from his partner, according to the organization. His partner searched for a day, and called for help at noon the next day.
Six search and rescue members responded and joined the search. After 48 hours, PGSAR said the man was found “in good condition and in good spirits.”
At that point, he had been missing for four days, PGSAR said.
The man still had enough food to last a few days, according to the organization. Each hiker had self-contained packs that included food, tent, fire supplies, and more.
After the man was found, he was transported off the mountain by helicopter, the social media post said.
PGSAR thanked the Robson Valley SAR for “getting the ball rolling” and for asking for mutual aid.

David Morrison, deputy minister of foreign affairs at Global Affairs Canada, on July 30 signed an agreement with his Chinese counterpart, executive vice minister Ma Zhaoxu, to renew the Canada-China Scholars’ Exchange Program. Through the program, Ottawa funds Chinese applicants to conduct research at Canadian universities as visiting scholars for 4–12 months.
The scholarships are administered by the China Scholarship Council and the Canadian Embassy in China. The Epoch Times reported last year that the first condition for Chinese applicants, listed on the website of China’s National Study Abroad Fund, is that they must support the Communist Party’s leadership.
Applicants must “uphold the leadership of the Communist Party of China and the socialist system with Chinese characteristics, love the motherland, have good moral character, abide by the law, and have a sense of responsibility to serve the country, society and the people, as well as a correct worldview, outlook on life and values,” reads the first condition to apply.
Other eligibility requirements include holding Chinese nationality, being in good physical and mental health, demonstrating foreign language proficiency, and being no older than 50.

An Ontario judge urged a teen girl found guilty of manslaughter in a deadly swarming attack on a homeless Toronto man not to forget or minimize the events of that night as he sentenced her to probation Friday.
Ontario Superior Court Justice Philip Campbell encouraged the girl to be “clear and candid” about her role in the attack that led to the death of Kenneth Lee and to keep the 59-year-old in her mind as time goes on.
The girl’s remorse was “evident” as she delivered an emotional apology in court earlier this week, the judge said. At the time, the teen also said she couldn’t imagine the pain Lee’s loved ones endured, “and I’m sure that is true,” he said.
However, the judge said, “you can try and imagine — and you should.”
“When your probation ends, you’ll have paid your debt to society,” Campbell said. “But Mr. Lee, though dead, will stay with you and I urge you to think about him.”
Campbell sentenced the girl to three years, the maximum available for manslaughter in a youth case, minus 20 months of credit for the time she previously spent in custody — a calculation the judge said also factored in the traumatic impact of four strip searches she experienced while in youth facilities, which represented violations of her constitutional rights.
Up to a year of her 16-month probation will be spent in an intensive support and supervision program.
The girl was 14 when she and seven other teens attacked Lee in a downtown Toronto parkette in December 2022. He died in hospital after undergoing emergency surgery.

A Delta Air Lines flight flying on Wednesday evening from Salt Lake City to Amsterdam was forced into an emergency landing after it encountered significant turbulence that injured 25 people on board.
The Airbus A330-900 landed safely at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, where it was met by the airport fire department and paramedics. Initial medical attention was provided to passengers and crew, and some people were taken to area hospitals.
“We are grateful for the support of all emergency responders involved,” Delta said in a statement released on Wednesday night. “Safety is our No. 1 value at Delta, and our Delta Care Team is working directly with customers to support their immediate needs.”
Passengers who weren’t wearing seat belts at the time were thrown about the cabin, according to the Associated Press.

Tens of thousands of lightning strikes across British Columbia since Wednesday have created “a very dynamic” wildfire situation, with more than half the current fires started since the storms.
Emelie Peacock, an information officer with the BC Wildfire Service, said a week of dry and hot weather combined with lightning led to many new fire starts.
Since Wednesday, more than 35,000 lightning strikes were recorded across the province, Peacock said.
Severe thunderstorm watches remained in place on Friday for a large swatch of the southern Interior and stretching to locations into the northeast. Above-seasonal temperatures, especially in the southern Interior, roasted many parts of the province earlier in the week, Peacock said.
“So, we’ve certainly seen the southern parts of the province really come on board later in the season than we’re used to, but the southern parts of the province are now fully in wildfire season,” she said in an interview Friday.
