For decades, U.S. and European health authorities have promoted pneumococcal vaccination as an “essential” tool to prevent serious bacterial pneumonia, meningitis, and sepsis caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae.

In the United States, the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) currently recommends:

Infants and children <5 years: a 4-dose series of a pneumococcal conjugate vaccine—PCV15 or PCV20—at 2, 4, 6, and 12–15 months.

Adults ≥50 years (PCV-naïve or unknown history): one dose of a PCV—PCV15, PCV20, or PCV21. If PCV15 is used, give PPSV23 one year later (minimum 8 weeks for certain high-risk conditions).

These vaccines are given to tens of millions of Americans every year.

Now, a landmark population-based study published in BMC Infectious Diseases has shattered the rationale for current pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV) recommendations. Analyzing outcomes among 2,234,003 adults aged 50 and older in Catalonia, Spain, the authors found that recipients of both PCV13 and PPSV23 were significantly more likely to be hospitalized for pneumonia and more likely to die from pneumonia-related causes compared to their unvaccinated counterparts—even after adjusting for age, sex, comorbidities, and influenza vaccination status.

Arabica coffee futures in New York jumped nearly 4% to $4.36 a pound - a new record high - amid renewed concerns that adverse weather conditions may impact Brazilian exports. These concerns were previously highlighted in our mid-September coffee report, which warned of ongoing "weather disasters" in Brazil that could threaten global production.

Arabica, the premium bean used by Starbucks, Dunkin', and other chains, had set the previous record of $4.2995 a pound in February amid rising fears that top grower Brazil would export fewer beans.

In a mid-August report, we cited Maja Wallengren, Danish-born independent coffee market reporter and founder of SpillingTheBean, who warned that adverse weather across key coffee-producing areas in Brazil, including the entire Cerrado Mineiro region and parts of Southern Minas, had experienced "frost damage" severe enough to be a potential "death blow" to the 2026 harvest lows.

Former Microsoft boss Nathan Myhrvold is among the 'friends' who contributed to pedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein's birthday book, it has been claimed.

The letter allegedly written by Myhrvold was accompanied by graphic photographs of sex acts and engorged animal genitalia, the Seattle Times reported.

The multimillionaire allegedly took the images during a trip to Africa, the letter stated.

The former Microsoft Chief Technology Officer flew on the plane twice, according to records filed in Virginia Guiffre's 2015 defamation suit against Ghislaine Maxwell.

He flew with Epstein, Maxwell and two others from Fort Knox, Kentucky to Teterboro, New Jersey on December 9, 1996. He also flew from Newark to Titusville, Florida in January 1997.

Myhrvold has claimed he and Epstein were only 'passing acquaintances' and that he regrets knowing him. He has not acknowledged the birthday images he is accused of sending Epstein.

Former NSA agent becomes venture capital partner in Israel

TECH AFFAIRS | US Navy Adm. Michael S. Rogers spent nearly four decades in US security. Now he’s a partner in Israeli venture capitalism.

For 37 years, Adm. (ret.) Michael S. Rogers served in the US security establishment, including in senior positions as head of the National Security Agency (NSA) and commander of the US Army Cyber Command.

He served under two presidents who were very different in their policies and personalities, Barack Obama and Donald Trump, and had access to the deepest secrets of the world’s greatest power.

As someone who was involved in crucial US intelligence issues, Rogers knows a thing or two about living in an uncertain world. But the kind of resilience he sees in the Israeli people, he said, he has not seen anywhere else.

“It’s truly extraordinary how this country functions even in such situations,” he said in an interview with Globes during a recent trip to Israel. “I was in work meetings in Tel Aviv when an air raid siren went off. We all went down to the protected space, with no pressure, no drama, opened our laptops, and continued the meeting from inside the shelter, as if nothing had happened. As an American, I was stunned. We would have had panic, evacuation, a commission of inquiry. Here, they go back to work after 20 minutes, as if it was nothing. It’s surreal – but it’s also strength. The society here has learned to go on functioning amid chaos.”

Nevertheless, as someone who comes here several times a year, as a partner in Israeli venture capital group Team8 and advisory committee chairman for cyber unicorn Claroty, he is aware of the despair and frustration.

“My previous visit was in January this year, and I can already sense a change. People are asking,‘When will it end? How will it end?’ There is weariness, a feeling that we’re stuck in a loop.

“Perhaps this isn’t unique to Israel. I see the same sense of lack of clarity in the US, in Europe, even in Australia and East Asia. We are in an era where old certainties – political, technological, geopolitical – are being shaken, and the West is struggling to respond. But it’s more intense in Israel because there’s a real war here.”

“Intelligence requires dialogue”

Rogers believes that October 7 was not only an Israeli tragedy, but also a global lesson about the limitations of intelligence networks and the importance of professional humility.

“When you’re in intelligence,” he explained, “you must never believe that you have perfect knowledge. You can have very high confidence, but you mustn’t think you know everything. That’s the moment when you begin to fail.”

Regarding the after-the-fact reports of warnings that were allegedly ignored, such as those of the NCO in Unit 8200, Rogers noted that in the US and in the NSA, “there are procedures that allow an analyst to say, ‘I feel that I’m not being listened to.’” He emphasized, however, that “true intelligence professionals need to operate out of dialogue, even with people who disagree with them.”

But, he added, this problem is not unique to Israel. “In the US, too, I encountered situations in which the president himself said to me, ‘Mike, I don’t see things the way you do.’ It happens. But I’ve always tried to understand, why? What does he see that I don’t see? What am I missing?”

He added that the problem has become even more severe in the age of fake news, disinformation, and social networks.

“Today, it’s very difficult to know what’s real. When intelligence personnel rely on open sources – journalism, networks, media – much of the information is false or biased. And then you ask yourself: ‘Whom do I believe? What’s really happening?’ This is a dilemma that many countries are struggling with.”

3I/Atlas REVEALS 591?

To understand that we live in a hyper-dimensional solar system with hyper-dimensional visits by UAP/UFOs, and vanishing and appearing stars, is a pre-requisite for this EVIDENCE.

When myself and Richard Hoagland calculated the arc-seconds of view on the Mars ESA images of 3I/Atlas, it was way to big to even compare to even the largest estimates of 3I/Atlas being 46 km in diameter by Avi Loeb, let alone the smaller estimates.

The object that appeared and disappeared and reappeared on the NASA LASCO solar cam images of October 20, in arc-seconds, also was way to big to be 3I/Atlas, which is why I cautioned it’s enormous size.

This lower image is an amateur astronomer’s imaging of the sun that is similar to the LASCO view. It shows the trajectory of 3I/Atlas along the “yellow” line and inserts it’s tiny appearance.

When I compare the 2 images, the object I found on the NASA LASCO is planetary in size and cannot be 3I/Atlas.

My original projection of the “Bulls Eye” of 3I/Atlas being a hypothetical orbit (turquoise ring in graphic) of 591 days, and 591/1.6180339887 = the orbit of Earth at 365.258 days (99.99%) was evident in my prior research for the past 3 years.

The fact that Planet Vulcan had eluded astronomers with its sudden appearance and then vanishing is reminiscent of the VASCO Project’s evidence of sudden appearing and vanishing stars/planets objects also is evident in today’s astronomy research!

Documents from lawsuits filed by Jeffrey Epstein accuser Virginia Giuffre show connections between the New York financier and former Microsoft Chief Technology Officer Nathan Myhrvold.

Myhrvold, who was among those who contributed to a 2003 birthday book made for Epstein, was named as a passenger for two flights on Epstein’s private jet in the 1990s, according to flight log documents filed in a defamation suit by Giuffre against Ghislaine Maxwell in 2015. Though sealed for years, the last of the records were made public in 2024.

While Myhrvold has acknowledged knowing Epstein, his representatives contend the two were little more than passing acquaintances with a shared interest in TED conferences and scientific research.

In flight logs disclosed during the defamation suit by Giuffre against Maxwell, Myhrvold is listed as a passenger on Dec. 9, 1996, for a flight from Fort Knox, Ky., to Teterboro, N.J., and another on Jan. 11, 1997, from Newark, N.J., to Titusville, Fla.

The other passengers listed on the first flight are Epstein, Maxwell and two illegible names. On the second flight, the other passengers named are Epstein, his former lawyer Alan Dershowitz, Norwegian cosmetics heiress Celina Midelfart and another illegible name.

The two flights occurred while Myhrvold was still with Microsoft. He worked for the company from 1986 to 2000. Microsoft declined to comment.

Contacted for comment earlier this week, a spokesperson for Myhrvold repeated a statement made in September after Congress released the 2003 birthday book, a 238-page collection of lewd letters and drawings apparently from politicians and notable business figures, including Myhrvold.

The spokesperson did not address Myhrvold’s note to Epstein in the birthday book or his inclusion in the flight logs.

“Mr. Myhrvold knew him from TED conferences and as a donor to basic scientific research,” the spokesperson said. “He regrets that he ever met him.”

Myhrvold’s apparent contribution to the birthday book was a letter celebrating the New York financier along with graphic photos depicting sex acts and engorged genitalia of animals. In the letter, Myhrvold allegedly wrote that he took the photos on a recent trip to Africa.

“A few years ago somebody at a party asked me ‘Does Jeffrey Epstein manage your money?’” Myhrvold appears to have written in the letter to Epstein. “I replied ‘No, but he advises me on lifestyle’. The guys eyes bugged out of his head and he said ‘REALLY?’”

ALAMEDA, Calif. — At approximately 10:00 p.m. (PDT) on Thursday, Coast Guard security personnel standing watch on Coast Guard Island observed a vehicle driving erratically and attempting to weaponize the vehicle to ram into Coast Guard Base Alameda.

@USCG personnel issued multiple verbal commands to stop the vehicle, the driver failed to comply and proceeded to put the vehicle in reverse — suddenly accelerating backwards at a high rate of speed directly toward them. When the vehicle’s actions posed a direct threat to the safety of Coast Guard and security personnel, law enforcement officers discharged several rounds of defensive live fire.

No Coast Guard personnel were injured during the incident. Two civilians were injured and are expected to survive. The truck driver was wounded in the stomach and is being held for mental health evaluation. A bystander was struck by a fragment, treated at a local hospital, and released. The Federal Bureau of Investigation is the lead agency for this investigation, and we are coordinating with our law enforcement partners.
