Louisiana Senator John Kennedy says Senate Republicans have no money budgeted to defend Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton in his Senate race and is looking to President Trump for help.

“We in the Senate don’t have the money budgeted for Texas,” Kennedy said in an interview with Fox News on Sunday.

”We need help from the President. The President says he has $850 million in his campaign accounts. That’s a lot of jack.”

Launch of the Roman Space Telescope

A new telescope has been launched into space to study the universe. The Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope (RST) has the same size main mirror as the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) but sees 100 times more sky during each snapshot. This is possible because when compared to HST, RST's main mirror is more curved, its secondary mirror is closer, and its main camera is larger. The result is that RST can inspect more of the sky more quickly, likely allowing, among other capabilities, the discovery of many more supernovas which tell us more about the expansion rate and composition of our universe, and many more planets orbiting other stars that tell us more about the possibilities for life elsewhere in the universe. RST will orbit the Sun, not the Earth, like the James Webb Space Telescope. The featured video shows Roman being launched yesterday from Kennedy Space Center, Florida, USA aboard a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket.

Achilles Shield: Israel, Greece sign over NIS 10b. air defense deal against Turkey. 1/2

The agreement, negotiated over three years, will become the largest defense export deal in Israel’s history.

Israel and Greece formalized one of the largest defense export agreements in Israel’s history on Monday, signing a €3 billion government‑to‑government deal that will see Israel design and deliver a complete, multi‑layered national air defense architecture for the Hellenic Republic’s Achilles Shield project.

Signed in Tel Aviv by Defense Ministry Director-General Maj.-Gen. (res.) Amir Baram and his Greek counterpart, Maj.-Gen. Ioannis Bouras, the agreement marks a significant expansion of bilateral defense cooperation and places Israeli missile defense systems as the backbone of Greece’s long‑term air defense modernization program.

Senior officials from Israel’s Defense Ministry’s International Defense Cooperation Directorate (SIBAT), the Defense Research and Development Directorate (MAFAT), and the Israeli Missile Defense Organization attended the signing, alongside the CEOs of Rafael and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI).

MAFAT head Brig.-Gen. (res.) Dr. Daniel Gold called the deal “a badge of honor for Israeli technological power” and said that Jerusalem will continue to develop additional technological breakthroughs to strengthen its standing in the world.

“The ability to field a multi-layered, comprehensive, and modern defense architecture - grounded in proven operational experience and at the forefront of global technology - is what contributed to Greece's choice of Israel as a key strategic partner,” he said.

Deal will include deploying SPYDER batteries to Greek islands

The project will integrate several Israeli‑made systems into a unified national network. At its core are David’s Sling, BARAK MX, and SPYDER missile defense systems developed by the Israeli defense companies and already deployed operationally within Israel’s own air defense array.

The package also includes MMR radars produced by IAI subsidiary ELTA for air surveillance coverage and a new national command‑and‑control system developed by Rafael to integrate all layers into a single operational picture.

Greek companies are expected to receive about €700 million of the deal’s total value as subcontractors for Rafael and IAI.

The agreement represents the first time Israel will supply a complete, end‑to‑end air‑defense array to another country. According to a statement released by the Defense Ministry, the architecture is based entirely on Israeli systems and incorporates operational lessons drawn from Israel’s recent wars wherein these systems played central roles in intercepting thousands of hostile aerial targets, including drones and ballistic missiles launched by Iran, Hezbollah, and the Houthis in Yemen.

In addition to the main package, the two sides concluded a €26 million supplementary deal for Rafael’s Drone Dome counter‑UAV system, intended to protect Greek strategic sites and reinforce existing defenses against unmanned aerial threats.

"The choice of Rafael systems, including David's Sling, SPYDER, and our command-and-control systems, as part of the national infrastructure reflects growing trust in Rafael's air defense capabilities and the unique operational experience accumulated in Israel,” Rafael CEO Yoav Tourgeman said.

The agreement also includes provisions for expanded industrial cooperation. Israel will transfer knowledge and technology to Greek defense industry partners as part of the government‑to‑government framework, deepening a relationship that has grown steadily over the past decade.

Influence of Turkey in pushing Israel, Greece defense industries closer

The wider geopolitical context cannot be ignored. Both Greece and Israel face assertive neighbors and volatile regional dynamics.

IAI CEO Guy Barlev said that the two countries “share common challenges and interests, and cooperation between them is an important pillar in strengthening defense capabilities and safeguarding the security of their citizens.”

Greece’s sweeping military modernization program is unfolding against the backdrop of Turkey’s own ambitious drive to expand and indigenize its defense capabilities, creating a dynamic that could reshape the balance of power in the Eastern Mediterranean.

Turkey has made its defense autonomy a national priority, aiming to meet nearly all of its military needs domestically by 2030.

Turkey has launched the $6.5 billion Steel Dome program, a multi-layered air defense network designed to rival Israel’s Iron Dome or Greece’s Achilles Shield and provide protection against aircraft, drones, and ballistic threats.

Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan claimed that the Steel Dome “will instill confidence in friends and fear in enemies.”

NATO is seeking to turn the Arctic into a new “hotbed” of tensions with its active military buildup in the region, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has warned.The bloc’s activities have sowed an atmosphere of distrust and it is risking a potentially dangerous armed confrontation not only with Moscow but with other nations as well, he warned in an article published by Arctic.ru on Monday.

The US-led military bloc ramped up its activities in the Far North earlier this year by launching the Arctic Sentry initiative. The move was touted as a response to USPresident Donald Trump’s effort to annex the Danish autonomous territory of Greenland on the grounds that it was allegedly under threat from Russia and China.

Both Moscow andBeijing have repeatedly dismissed the accusations, with China arguing that the US was merely using the claims as a pretext for its own military buildup in the Arctic. Russia has also maintained that it would defend its interests in the Arctic,despite having no stake in the feud over Greenland.

In his Monday article,Lavrov stated that Russia is mainly interested in “preserving the Arctic as an area of peace and cooperation” whileaccusing NATO of “driving the region towards militarization.”

“Intensive military preparations are underway in close proximity to our northern borders. NATO is conducting large-scale military exercises involving non-regional countries and introducing new components of its command-and-control system,” the minister said.

Back in February, the NATO nations held drills focused on Greenland and the broader Arctic, involving Swedish and Danish warplanes in particular. In March, the bloc staged a massive military exercise in Norway and Finland – two Nordic nations bordering Russia – involving a total of 32,500 troops from 14 member states.

The troops trained on the territory of both countries, as well as “at sea and in the air,”under “harsh, Arctic conditions,” in what the Norwegian Armed Forces described as the nation’s “largest military exercise in 2026.”

Last week, US, UK and Norwegian forces kickstarted another drill on the Norwegian island of Jan Mayen. The operation is aimed at integrating “multinational sensors, command-and-control nodes and precision fires into a joint kill web,” according to a US Marine Corps release.

Jan Mayen – a remote volcanic island located 1,000 kilometers away from mainland Norway – is described by the US Naval Institute think tank as a key location in the Greenland-Iceland-UK gap – a “chokepoint against entry into the Atlantic Ocean by Russian naval forces” and particularly its Northern Fleet.

“NATO members and other Western countries make no secret of their true motives, openly declaring their intention to turn the Arctic into a new front for opposing the development of Russia and its like-minded partners,” Lavrov said, commenting on the development and warning that such an approach “increases the risk of incidents that could trigger an armed confrontation with potentially disastrous consequences.”

The foreign minister also stated that NATO and the EU not only pose a “direct threat” to Russian security but also seek to “undermine Russia’s legitimate rights in international cooperation” by targeting its partners with sanctions that affect Arctic projects in particular. He named China and India as Moscow’s key partners in the region.

The EU has targeted Russia with numerous rounds of sanctions, including restrictions aimed specifically at its Arctic oil and gas development. The measures were designed to restrict Moscow’s access to technologies required for deep-water drilling and Arctic resource extraction, as well as to limit financing for such projects.

According to an April report by the Institute for China-America Studies, the sanctions have made Arctic cooperation between Moscow and Beijing more complicated, as Chinese companies fear they could be targeted with secondary restrictions if they invest in large-scale joint projects.

However, despite NATO seeking to turn the Arctic into a new front, Lavrov maintained that Moscow is ready to work “with all constructively minded foreign countries displaying reciprocal readiness” to respect Russia’s interests.
