In the NCR region, Ward shared that GRTs often provide guidance on sleep hygiene, nutrition, stress management and recovery strategies to help Guardians sustain performance in their mission environments.

“We know we can’t change shift work, so we teach them tips and tricks to the science so they can manage, recover, and heal better,” she said.

Future outlook for GRT support to Guardians

As awareness of GRT services grows, so does their utilization across the force. Ward said that the increased engagement she has seen reflects both the demand for and the value of their integrated support.

The HHA program plans to require lifestyle medicine board certification for all GRT specialists to better equip them with the knowledge to optimize long‑term Guardian health and resilience.

Through this continued focus on holistic health, the Space Force is reinforcing a culture that treats fitness, cognitive performance and well‑being as foundational to readiness.

“We’re sitting for national board certifications in lifestyle medicine to make sure that we’re at the highest level of education to infuse those true lifestyle changes into the Guardian’s daily activities and duty days,” she said.

According to Ward, by emphasizing prevention, personalization and performance, GRTs are building a more resilient force prepared to meet the challenges of an increasingly complex operational environment.

Supreme Court Denies Appeal From Reporter Catherine Herridge asked the court to stay a decision fining her $800 a day until she reveals her confidential source for a story about an FBI investigation.

"Supreme Court justices on July 2 denied a request from former Fox News reporter Catherine Herridge to stay lower court rulings in a case involving at least one secret source.

"Eight justices declined to enter a stay against a ruling that ordered Herridge to disclose her sources, and to pay $800 for each day she does not.

"Justice Brett Kavanaugh said he would have stayed the ruling.

"Lawyers for Herridge and Yanping Chen, a Chinese scientist and naturalized American citizen with alleged ties to the Chinese military, did not return requests for comment by time of publication.

"The development came in a case involving a series of stories that Herridge wrote while working for Fox News centered on Chen in which she cited confidential sources in reporting that the FBI investigated Chen and her alleged ties to China.

"Chen sued in 2018 over an alleged violation of her privacy.

"A federal judge in 2023 ordered Herridge to disclose her sources. The judge later found Herridge in contempt and said she would be fined $800 for each day that elapsed without her complying, although he paused the fine as an appeal was pending.

"The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit upheld the judge’s decision, concluding in 2025 that Herridge was not entitled to withhold the sources’ identities.

"That set up the appeal to the Supreme Court, which was filed under seal.

"Herridge has argued in court papers that theU.S. Constitution provided her with reporter’s privilege and that she should not have to disclose the identities of her sources. She said that the federal judge wrongly applied a 1981 decision that involved reporter’s privilege.

"Chen has said in filings, including one to the Supreme Court, that Herridge should stop delaying the disclosure of her source or sources.

“Although Herridge has repeatedly failed to convince the courts that her position is meritorious, she has reaped the benefits of a stay that the district court entered over two-and-a-half years ago,” lawyers for Chen told the nation’s top court. “Allowing her to continue obfuscating would render the Privacy Act toothless, as litigants like Herridge could obtain an endless and unwarranted series of stays to blunt the weighty ‘private right of action’ codified in the Privacy Act. Herridge’s application for a stay should be denied.”

New Poll: Nearly Half of Americans Don’t Know What America’s 250th Is Celebrating

86% are grateful to be American, 70% say Founding principles remain relevant today, 57% say the US has moved away from its founding principles, 56% worry the US could lose its freedom over the next 50 years. 58% say no political party should be trusted with too much power

A new national survey from the Cato Institute, conducted in collaboration with Morning Consult of 2,253 Americans ahead of July 4th and America’s 250th anniversary, finds nearly half (46%) of Americans don’t know what America’s 250th anniversary commemorates. A little more than half (53%) correctly answered that it was the adoption of the Declaration of Independence.

Despite civic ignorance, overwhelming majorities are grateful (86%) and proud (79%) to be Americans. Most also believe America is a land of opportunity (61%), and even more believe the American Dream (74%) is available to them personally. As the nation celebrates its birth, most Americans feel positive (76%) about the nation’s founding, and 70% believe its founding principles remain relevant today. In particular, overwhelming majorities believe the US Constitution is important for protecting our rights and freedoms (86%) and for enabling America’s prosperity (82%).

However, nearly 6 in 10 believe the country has moved away from the founding principles, and 56% worry the US could stop being a free country within the next 50 years. People believe corruption, concentrations and abuse of power, and ignoring founding principles could lead to the country’s demise. Americans support constitutional limits, dividing power, and checking the power of the president to maintain their freedoms. For instance, 58% say no political party should be trusted with too much power, 55% say the US Constitution should place firm limits on what the government is allowed to do, even if it makes it harder to solve problems, and 72% say the president should have to obey Supreme Court rulings even when he disagrees.

Yet, a significant minority is willing to bend the rules when it suits their advantage. Four in 10 Americans think it’s acceptable if a president they support stretched the Constitution to get what they want.

Another risk to the country is low substantive civic knowledge on basic governance questions. For instance, while 77% know George Washington was the first president, 58% don’t know what the main purpose of the US Constitution is, and 57% don’t know the reason we declared independence from Great Britain and created our government with limited powers.

Capitalism (52%) is viewed somewhat more favorably than socialism (37%). However, people are evenly divided on socialism, with equal shares who are favorable and unfavorable. Gen Z stands out with more who are supportive of socialism (53%) than capitalism (45%). The survey found the “Democratic Socialist” label can both help and harm a candidate about equally. While 39% said they’d be more likely to vote for a Democratic Socialist candidate, 40% said they’d be less likely, and 22% weren’t sure either way. Democrats (61%) and Gen Z (51%) reported they’d be likely to vote for a candidate with the Democratic Socialist label.

America’s 250th

Nearly half (46%) of Americans—and nearly two-thirds (61%) of Gen Z—don’t know what America’s 250th commemorates. A little over half (53%) of Americans and 39% of Gen Z correctly identified that the adoption of the Declaration of Independence in 1776—250 years ago—is the reason for this year’s celebration.

When asked what people would most like children to learn from America’s 250th anniversary, Americans identified three top priorities: to teach (1) that freedom is rare and must be protected (28%), (2) that patriotism means loyalty to the country’s principles, not to any politician or party (27%), and (3) that America’s history includes both great achievements and serious injustices (26%)…

Philadelphia cancels 4th of July parade due to extreme heat, organizers say

Philadelphia's Salute to Independence Semiquincentennial Parade has been canceleddue to extreme heat in the weather forecast, organizers told vendors and participants early Friday morning.

The parade was set to take place Friday in Old City.

Temperatures are set to exceed 100 degrees and feel even hotter due to humidity as the region enters Day 5 of a heat wave. On Thursday, July 2, the city tied its record high temperature of 103 degrees.

Organizers told vendors their first responsibility was the safety of the participants and guests. The production company running the parade was reaching out to participants individually to inform them of the cancellation.

One representative told CBS News Philadelphia organizers tried to find a solution that would allow the event to be held safely, but heat-related incidents, including Thursday's Union Pacific Big Boy event in Berks County, contributed to the decision to cancel.

"As much as this decision pains everyone inside our organization, we simply cannot host an event of this size and scale under these dangerous heat conditions," Wawa Welcome America President and CEO Michael DelBene said in a statement. "Todd Marcocci and Under the Sun Productions, along with all the parade groups, have been working tirelessly to design something truly historic, and having to cancel it at the last minute is heartbreaking for all of us. While large-scale celebrations and community events may be our mission, our first responsibility will always be to the safety and security of our staff, our guests, and our event participants."

Participants got the news in an email at 1 a.m. Wawa Welcome America's official social media pages shared the newsaround 7:20 a.m.

Visit Philadelphia will hold free pop-up performances throughout the city's historic district to keep the celebration alive for visitors from noon to 2:30 p.m.

The plan includes having performers at the Betsy Ross House, Weitzman National Museum of American Jewish History, Independence Visitor Center, City Tavern, Franklin Square, Carpenters' Hall and behind Independence Hall.

Now that the parade is canceled, SEPTA has called off the planned bus detoursaround the parade route.

This extreme heat has threatened temperature records and had a major impact on the Philadelphia region's observances of America's 250th anniversary.

Friday night's Pops on Independence concert featuring Idina Menzel is still on, but has been pushed back to 8 p.m.

On Monday, organizers said the route would be cut down to about 1 mile to reduce risks in the heat.

Thursday night, the Wawa Welcome America Salute to Serviceconcert featuring Queen Latifah was canceled due to the heat. A 10 p.m. independence-themed drone show went on as scheduled.

Friday and Saturday kick off what will be up to a week of solemn funeral observances for slain Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei - a major historic event which is expected to draw some 15 to 20 million mourners in Tehran and across Iranian cities.

Iran on Thursday issued a warning to the United States and Israel, Reuters reported:

"We warn the enemies of Iran, especially the U.S. and the Zionist regime (Israel), to avoid any miscalculation and to think about the harsh retaliation our armed forces would make to any threat and aggression against our country," Ali Abdollahi, commander of Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, said in a statement carried by state media.

The funeral procession events are expected to extend all the way to July 9, upon which the late Ayatollah will be buried in his hometown of Mashhad. Qom, as well as Shia centers in Iraq will also observe large-scale funeral events.

Delegations representing various governments in the region have begun arriving in Tehran on Friday to pay their respects, though the Iranian government has made clear that no European governments were invited.

There has already been some surprises, with Reuters reporting that Saudi Deputy Foreign Minister Waleed El Khereiji and his delegation have showed up in Tehran to pay their respects - though they weren't officially expected, per Iranian state publications...

A red flag from the Imam Reza Shrine in Mashhad was placed over Khamenei’s coffin during ceremonies in Tehran.

Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi, the new commander of the IRGC, made a rare public appearance during a memorial event in the Iranian capital.

Pakistan’s interior minister arrived in Iran ahead of the funeral as foreign delegations continue to gather for the ceremonies.

President Donald Trump said Iran has “almost agreed” to US demands and confirmed negotiations with Tehran will continue.

Iranian foreign minister Abbas Araghchi said lasting peace in the region must be comprehensive and free from external interference.

Iran’s UN representative warned that any US violation of the memorandum of understanding would trigger an Iranian response.

Iran’s military command instructed vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz to follow designated routes or face a “forceful response”.

In Lebanon, President Joseph Aoun called for international pressure on Israel to implement the framework agreement, while Israel announced the Givati Brigade had completed its mission in southern Lebanon.

On the Partnership Between the U.S. Government and Science in Figuring Out the Nature of UAP

Below is the transcript of an interview that I just had with Shannon Cake on Newsmax (which is accessible in video format here). Shannon’s comments and questions are marked by SC and my answers are marked by AL.

SC: President Trump is bringing that conversation to the White House, tapping Harvard astrophysicist Dr. Avi Loeb, who’s a regular guest on our program, to help advise the administration.

First of all, congratulations. Great to see you.

AL: Thanks for having me.

SC: So, you were chair of the Astronomy department and the director of the Institute for Theory and Computation at Harvard. You’ve spent years arguing that we should be taking the possibility of extraterrestrial technology seriously.

What’s the first thing you’re going to do once you get in to this white house circle?

AL: I was tasked by a representative of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (who works together with the Pentagon, the FBI and the White House) to establish a council of advisors.

I assembled about 15 scientists with expertise in physics, oceanography, statistics, data analysis and psychology. We have all the expertise needed to analyze the government data.

The first thing we did after meeting was to ask for more than 50 items of information from known incidents and potentially not only videos, but also materials if they exist.

First and foremost, I wanted to salute President Trump for the directive to declassify related information.

This will bring us to a better situation because there are two possibilities: first, some of these anomalous objects are human made, in which case they pose a national security threat because they hover over strategic assets.

The second possibility that some of them might be non-human-made would be the biggest discovery ever made in science.

Either way, I would feel that my time is not wasted because at the very least, we are helping the Pentagon fulfill its mission. As an American citizen, my obligation is to do the best I can to advise them on the best sensors to use.

Figuring out the nature of these unidentified objects is like a detective story. We are all excited about this mission. My team members are really looking forward to analyzing this data.

The fundamental question is: what does the data collected by the government tell us?

And if it’s not sufficiently conclusive, we can advise the government to collect new data with new sensors, and we will identify the critical items that need to be measured in order for us to figure out what some of these objects are.

The grooming gang scandals are real. Official reports (Jay Report on Rotherham, others) confirmed thousands of mostly white British girls were groomed, raped and trafficked for years by groups mostly of Pakistani Muslim heritage. Police, councils and social services repeatedly failed to act, often citing fears of racism accusations.

Specific claims of “cop nights” — where police allegedly joined in abuse, used marked cars to traffic victims, and participated in sessions referred to that way — come from survivor testimonies presented in MP Rupert Lowe’s independent Rape Gang Inquiry and similar accounts. Some former South Yorkshire Police officers have been arrested over related historic abuse allegations, with further reviews ongoing.

These are serious victim accounts of direct police involvement alongside the gangs. They are horrific and warrant full investigation. The video in the original post references these testimonies.
