President Donald Trump, reacting sight unseen to breaking news that Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., had been sprayed with what the media described as a “liquid” that appeared urine-colored, claimed the incident was staged.

That very narrative has been viral by conservatives on social media Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning, but Trump was asked about the incident shortly after the news broke and before he had seen it.

"No. I don't think about her; I think she's a fraud; I really don't think about that: She probably had herself sprayed, knowing her," Trump told an ABC News reporter.

Trump admitted he has not seen the C-SPAN feed of the town hall incident that media, Capitol police, and Democrat backers are calling an "attack."

"I haven't seen it, no, no," Trump added to ABC. "I hope I don't have to bother."

A man sitting in the front row of her small town hall gathering rose as Omar called for Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem's impeachment, walking toward the podium and spraying yellow-urine-colored liquid from a syringe.

Notably, the man was drifting away from the podium and Omar walked toward the alleged attacker with a defiant fist raised before the man was tackled to the ground by a larger man, perhaps a personal Omar security guard.

Minneapolis police immediately arrested him and booked him at the county jail for third-degree assault, spokesperson Trevor Folke said. Forensic scientists responded to the scene.

Police identified the man as Anthony Kazmierczak, 55.

There was a strong, vinegar-like smell after the man pushed on the syringe, according to an Associated Press journalist who was there. There was no immediate word from officials on what the urine-colored liquid was.

Minneapolis Council Member LaTrisha Vetaw said some of the substance also came into contact with her and Democrat State Sen. Bobby Joe Champion. She called it a deeply unsettling experience.

No one in the crowd of about 100 people had a noticeable physical reaction to the substance.

Walking out afterward, Omar said she felt a little flustered but was not hurt. She was going to be screened by a medical team.

She later posted on the social platform X: "I'm ok. I'm a survivor so this small agitator isn't going to intimidate me from doing my work. I don't let bullies win."

Trump has frequently criticized the congresswoman and has stepped up verbal attacks on her in recent months as he turned his focus on Minneapolis. During a Cabinet meeting in December, he referred to her as "garbage."

Hours earlier Tuesday, the president criticized Omar as he spoke to a crowd in Iowa, saying his administration would only let in immigrants who "can show that they love our country."

"They have to be proud, not like Ilhan Omar," he said, drawing loud boos at the mention of her name.

He added: "She comes from a country that's a disaster. So probably, it's considered, I think — it's not even a country."

DHS Confirms ICE Will Conduct Enforcement Operations at Super Bowl

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) confirmed that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents will conduct enforcement operations at the Super Bowl LX on Feb. 8 in Santa Clara, California.

DHS Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs Tricia McLaughlin told TMZ Sports their mission “remains unchanged” despite unrest in Minnesota.

Per Fox News, DHS adviser Corey Lewandowski said in October that ICE enforcement is a “directive from the president” and will not be stopped for the Super Bowl, which is between the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks at Levi’s Stadium.

“There is nowhere you can provide safe haven to people who are in this country illegally,” Lewandowski said during an interview on “The Benny Show” podcast. “Not the Super Bowl and nowhere else. We will find and deport you. That is a very real situation.”

McLaughlin said security at the event “will entail a whole-of-government response conducted in line with the U.S. Constitution.”

George Gross, an expert on theology and the monarchy at King’s College London, highlighted the church’s continuing divergence from the Catholic Church, which forbids women from being ordained as priests, much less as serving as the religion’s global spiritual leader.

“It is a big contrast,” Gross said. “And in terms of the position of women in society, this is a big statement.”

But Mullally’s appointment may deepen rifts within the Anglican Communion, whose 100 million members in 165 countries are deeply divided over issues such as the role of women and the treatment of LGBTQ people.

She will also have to confront concerns that the Church of England hasn’t done enough to stamp out the sexual abuse scandals that have dogged it for more than a decade.

Gafcon, a global organization of conservative Anglicans, says Mullally’s appointment is divisive because a majority of the Anglican Communion still believes only men should be bishops.

Rwandan Archbishop Laurent Mbanda, chairman of the Gafcon council of senior bishops, known as primates, also criticized Mullally’s support for the blessing of same-sex marriages.

“Since the newly appointed archbishop of Canterbury has failed to guard the faith and is complicit in introducing practices and beliefs that violate both the ‘plain and canonical sense’ of Scripture and `the Church’s historic and consensual’ interpretation of it, she cannot provide leadership to the Anglican Communion,” Mbanda said in October.

Mullally replaces former Archbishop Justin Welby, who announced his resignation in November 2024, after he was criticized for failing to tell police about allegations of physical and sexual abuse by a volunteer at a church-affiliated summer camp.

She was nominated by a 17-member commission composed of clerics and lay people and her appointment was confirmed by King Charles III, who is the supreme governor of the church.

But there is still one more step in the long process of appointing the new archbishop.

On March 25 at Canterbury Cathedral, Mullally will be formally installed as bishop of the diocese of Canterbury in a ceremony marking the beginning of her new role. After that, her public-facing ministry begins.

United Nations Responds To U.S. Cannabis Rescheduling Order

Last month, United States President Donald Trump ordered his administration to reschedule cannabis from its current status as a Schedule I substance to Schedule III. Part of the executive order called for the federal cannabis rescheduling process to be expedited.

The United States is, to a degree, bound by various international agreements, including United Nations agreements. In reaction to the announcement of rescheduling in the United States, the International Cannabis Business Conference’s media partner, Cannabis and Tech Today, reached out to the United Nations’ International Narcotics Control Board (INCB) to get its reaction to the planned U.S. rescheduling.

“The INCB Board has taken note of the Executive Order of the U.S. President that would reschedule cannabis to Schedule III of the Controlled Substances Act,” said a representative from the INCB Secretariat, according to Cannabis and Tech Today’s original reporting. “In line with the international drug control conventions and its longstanding position, INCB highlights that States parties should limit the use of cannabis to medical and scientific purposes.”

“Governments that wish to establish access schemes to allow for medical or scientific uses of cannabis should establish the set of control measures found in the Convention, including the establishment of a national cannabis agency to control, supervise, and license the cultivation of cannabis crops; the designation of the areas in which cultivation is permitted; and the licensing of cultivators.” the outlet also reported.

2 federal agents fired their weapons during Alex Pretti shooting, government report to Congress says

Two U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents fired their weapons during the fatal shooting of Minneapolis ICU nurse Alex Pretti over the weekend, according to a government report sent to Congress and obtained by CBS News that does not mention Pretti reaching for his firearm.

The report was shared with congressional officials Tuesday by CBP, which said it was based on a "preliminary review" by its Office of Professional Responsibility. It provides the most comprehensive official account yet of Pretti's killing, which has triggered widespread outcry from members of both parties.

According to the report to Congress, CBP agents were conducting an operation in Minneapolis on Saturday morning when an officer was "confronted by two female civilians blowing whistles." The officer ordered the women to "move out of the roadway," the report said. That's when CBP agents first encountered Pretti.

"The [CBP officer] pushed them both away and one of the females ran to a male, later identified as 37-year-old Alex Jeffrey Pretti, a US citizen," the report said. "The [CBP officer] attempted to move the woman and Pretti out of the roadway. The woman and Pretti did not move. The [CBP officer] deployed his oleoresin capsicum (OC) spray towards both Pretti and the woman."

CBP agents then "attempted to take Pretti into custody," according to the report.

"Pretti resisted CBP personnel's efforts and a struggle ensued. During the struggle, a BPA yelled, 'He's got a gun!' multiple times," the report said.

"Approximately five seconds later, a [Border Patrol agent] discharged his CBP-issued Glock 19 and a [CBP officer] also discharged his CBP-issued Glock 47 at Pretti. After the shooting, a BPA advised he had possession of Pretti's firearm," CBP added. "The BPA subsequently cleared and secured Pretti's firearm in his vehicle."

The new information provided by CBP differs from the initial accounts offered by the Department of Homeland Security, which said in a statement over the weekend that one Border Patrol agent had fired "defensive shots."

In that statement, DHS also said Pretti "approached" the CBP agents with a 9mm semi-automatic firearm. But CBP's report to Congress makes no claim that Pretti tried to reach for his firearm.

In the hours after the shooting, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem alleged that Pretti approached federal agents with a gun in what she described as an effort to kill officers, and Border Patrol commander Greg Bovino accused Pretti of trying to "massacre law enforcement" — allegations that did not appear in the Office of Professional Responsibility's report.

The government's response to Pretti's death — the second fatal shooting by federal agents in Minneapolis this month — has drawn intense scrutiny in recent days, as videos of the incident appear to contradict officials' claims that Pretti approached law enforcement with his gun.

Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara has said Pretti was a lawful gun owner with a permit to carry.

The report does not state that Pretti's gun discharged accidentally, one theory that has circulated in the wake of the shooting. President Trump alleged in a Wall Street Journal articlethat Pretti was carrying a "dangerous and unpredictable gun" that "goes off when people don't know it."

It also revealed that U.S. Customs and Border Protection personnel removed and stored Pretti's firearm in a government vehicle, a decision now raising broader concerns about the integrity of the investigation.

According to a CBP report sent to congressional officials, a Border Patrol agent reported taking possession of Pretti's gun immediately after the shooting and later clearing and securing the firearm inside a vehicle. The report does not specify whether the weapon was photographed in place or logged with a documented chain of custody at the scene.
